Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Fraochsmum · 18/10/2009 20:15

lol chickbean, that's so funny! My sister's children are 3 years and 1 day apart, so I did ask the question as to what was happening in x month!
Got disturbed 'in fligrante' by the PIL's this afternoon - most embarassing as they must have known why it took us so long to come down the stairs...
FakePlasticTrees best of luck with the move, must be pretty daunting x

sockmonkey · 18/10/2009 20:18

There are 6 family birthdays in January so chances are baby will land on one of them. No Porche for DH, but this will be the first daughter LOL. Don't think there will be any special birthdays shared.
FPT sitting on the sofa eating biscuits sounds like the best plan.

Mama2b5 · 18/10/2009 20:31

SM - children r very quick to recover from sickness, so i know he is on the road of recovery!
To all of us who are suffering from pregnancies conditions especially SPD and constipation, morning sickness and CTS - This will all soon be over and we will have our wonderful babies! some sooner then others!
SPD - is a very big talking point i believe and how our GPs and MW just cant deal with it even though women have been suffering for years!i think i should invest in a bed pan! because this gettin up in the middle of the nite whilst in pain is so not funny!

Lets look after ourselves and let our DF look after us as well! xx

sockmonkey · 20/10/2009 08:57

Oh no... DH now has the sickness bug, DS2 still being sick yesterday (but is bouncing on the couch this morning) and DS1 has bad cough/sore throat/temperature.
I am the only one not ill in the house. I wonder how long that will last

CantThinkofFunnyName · 20/10/2009 09:24

Oh sockmonkey - you poor thing! Have to say I vomitted big time this morning and do feel rather odd in the stomach dept so hoping this isn't the beginning of said stomach bug!!

So - long rant and moan below (apologies in advance).....

Can you believe (well I'm sure you all probably can) that the women's health physio at my hospital, which is a fairly major hospital btw; only works on a Wednesday and other days of the week works at a sister hospital, which I can't get to due to the increasingly horrific SPD. So, appts only available on a Wednesday and can't fit me in before 4 Nov. After the manipulation last week, yesterday, my pelvis jolted back up again so was truly truly in tears and agony. Finally relented last night and took co-dydramol as at that point, couldn't sit, couldnt stand, couldn't lie, couldn't be on all fours - just did not know what to do with myself. That kicked in soon enough which was great but then had to wake DH in middle of night to go and get me some more!!! Then, lo and behold, once painkillers kicked in, managed to have a good old stretch whilst half asleep and clicked and shunted my pelvis back into its right position again. Heard several clicks and is soooooo much easier again this morning. Wonder how many hours it will last for?

However, DH doing his nut and saying I am completely incapacitated (to get around house I am literally clinging onto the walls as I walk and have to get doctors/hospital to do something or pay for a private physio!

Today, I see if I can take on the NHS or else dip into my own pocket (ouch).

Too many weeks left of this pg ....

shinybaubles · 20/10/2009 09:38

Oh dear CTOFN I hope you get some help soon - I agree with your dh you may have to go private.

CantThinkofFunnyName · 20/10/2009 10:50

Oh dear - definitely have sickness bug now. Cannot stop vomitting and (TMI alert) wee with every retch - urgh !

Have to take DS to hospital for a routine outpatient appt in a minute and getting a little flustered about whether or not I'll manage to NOT be sick whilst en route or there!

sockmonkey · 20/10/2009 12:14

CTOFN That sounds awful. I really hope you can get some help, you do NOT want to spend the next couple of months like that.
Can anyone else take DS? Sounds like you should be at home.

CantThinkofFunnyName · 20/10/2009 14:12

Have just returned - managed to not be sick whole time I was there (2 hours) but did get crutches from physio dept and an appointment for tomorrow (woohoo). And then promptly filled two carrier bags with sick in the car on the way home!!! Well, I say filled - you know how carrier bags have holes in them....

Now on sofa feeling sorry for myself

Thanks for the comfort everyone x

somewhathorrified · 20/10/2009 14:15

hugs to all you sick peeps...from a distance ofc.

Ctofn I agree it's def worth having a look at what you can get privately for the SPD. It may not be as expensive as you think, you never know.

I'm loving that winter's on the way, lots of stews and reheated chunky soups. Sorry not what you poorly peeps want to hear.

shinybaubles · 20/10/2009 14:52

That's good news about your appoointment ctofn, maybe you will get some help.

somewhathorrified am also loving winter food and my wood burner - feeling very cosy and full .

Mama2b5 · 20/10/2009 15:00

ahhh wot CTOFN not only have you been suffering with the spd but you have a stomach bug as well WTH!
the thought of me having anything else go wrong with my health i think would drive me mad and i will just go to bed and stay there until the baby comes!
I am off to HR to discuss my ML have been told i can use it now or add it to the end of my mat leave errrrmmmm now please! so hopefully will be off from work end of Nov if i can survive that long! very painful whilst at work sitting behind my desk and PC!

Is anyone else watchng baby birthing programs( home and health on virgin) i watch it as soon as i get up my DH hates it and thinks im crazy!

CantThinkofFunnyName · 20/10/2009 15:05

Hi Mama - yes, I record (SkyPlus) all the baby birthing programmes every day!! I did this with my previous 2 DCs as well and then never ever watch them again after the birth! It's like being really addicted to them?!

DH v kindly working from home today and will collect kids from school. I'm wondering whether to go to bed or pull a duvet over me on the sofa. Trouble is, SPD doesn't allow comfort in either position...

Sorry - really moaning today.

Mama2b5 · 20/10/2009 19:10

CantTOFN-so im not alone with the watching of these programs that's good to know! it seems we have a lot in common! its interesting to me seeing how other families cope with the last 6 weeks of the pregnancie the birth then the 1st nights at home! DH leaves the room i think other women giving birth really makes him ill!

Fraochsmum · 20/10/2009 20:30

Oh my god CTOFN, that's bloody terrible! Glad the physio dept are taking it seriously enough to see you promptly and hopefully the crutches will help too.
I have to say that I can't stand watching these programmes! The few rl births that I have seen on the tv have been ok, so I will stick with that and try not to freak myself out One came on yesterday and I had to change the channel Doesn't bode well does it?
On a happier note, we just ordered double glazing and a new kitchen to get before Christmas!!! DP sold his flat last week so we thought we would get it done before baby appears and try to retain some heat in the house

alibobins · 20/10/2009 20:40

ctofn- hope things start to improve soon

I feel really rough tonight turns out I do infact have a water infection and have been prescribed antibiotics. Had really bad pains and cramps starting at 10 this morning by 12 they were taking my breath away so phoned midwife who said it sounds like contractions brought on by the water infection.
I had a bath and managed to rest and they eased off a bit but I still feel niggly and had a few painfull ones tonight. Fingers crossed little bean stays put I'm off to blackpool this weekend and the kids really looking forward to it.
Sorry for the moan just feeling very fragile today

CantThinkofFunnyName · 21/10/2009 09:22

Oh Ali - you poor thing. Hopefully those antibiotics will kick in v soon and ease of the contractions. I've certainly heard that UTIs cause those kind of cramps/contractions. When I had bad cramps etc at 22 wks, the first thing the hospital tested me for was a UTI - so don't worry, I'm sure it will all be fine and little bean not on way - but you just need to get well quickly.

I was in bed by 9pm last night (not sure how I managed to last that long) but boy, I had the best night sleep and the first night since about 6 weeks that I did NOT get up to go to the loo - just slept right through!!! Today brings a physio appt at 11.30 and a good day as far as SPD is concerned! Perhaps all the vomitting yesterday shunted everything back to its rightful position !

Hope everyone else's day goes swimmingly

shinybaubles · 21/10/2009 10:41

CTOFN glad you got some sleep.
Alibobins hope you feel better soon.
I feel the need to confess my breakfast - I had 2 small chunks of cheddar and a small slice of marble cake , half a coffee, half a glass of juice and a swig of Pepsi Max - I have sunk to an all time low .

TattyT · 21/10/2009 11:27

Has anyone thought of using a postnatal doula. My sister has one and she is a fab help in the home while mum and baby are working things out e.g b/feeding. She makes my sister gets an hours sleep every day and helps with all the household chores. She found her on the Doula UK website.

quirkychick · 21/10/2009 11:38

I hope all those of you with SPD are feeling a little better! And that CTFN your d&v is better. It can be so miserable, especially when pg.

I have just been to see the gp who has given me some tablets to stop me being sick so I can take my glucose tolerance test next week - hurrah! Interestingly mw said there was nothing she could do and I could cancel the test, but gp wrote me a prescription no probs.

Also discussed the swine flu vaccine. She said she would definitely recommend it for me as I

  1. am pregnant so much higher risk to infection/complications
  2. am asthmatic and had bad chest infection/flu a year ago (although unusual for me)
  3. have pre-school child so in contact with a lot of viruses/germs etc.
  4. am a high risk pregnancy with a history of complications

She wasn't sure if dd would need it, although probably as asthmatic. I will check the swine flu thread to get some info on there too.

CantThinkofFunnyName · 21/10/2009 13:05

Hey quirky - I would deffo get the swine flu jab as fit every one of 1-4 above, except pre-school child. I have 2 at school and tbh, think they come home with far more germs than a pre-schooler?

Anyway, all good today and hope you stop being sick too!!

CantThinkofFunnyName · 21/10/2009 13:17

Ooooh - forgot to say that I, too, absolutely luuuurrrve this time of year. Autumn is my fave with the leaves crisp on the ground, brisk mornings, bit of rain and mud (wellie weather), roaring fires and winter grub - lovely!

flyingma · 21/10/2009 13:55

CTOFN it sounds like things are on the mend... well as much as they can be so I am glad for you. Hope at least the tummy bug subsides soon. I don't do vomit well so that made me a bit green (bit about carrier bags, cars and holes).

shinybaubles - I've been good today but I've recently developed a sweet tooth which was compounded by a scare last week of sugar in my test the GP did. DH said that the test results would come back "Cadbury Snack" Thankfully tho the midwife said today that it came back clear and so was today's test.

I've gone through a stomach shrinkage recently - well not so much shinkage as much as compression. I am still hungry but after every normal sized meal, it feels like I've had a Sunday roast where I had those 2 extra bits of roast potatoes that I should not have had. Got tired to feel so full that I felt sick so have cut down on size of meals. My confession tho is that I was wanted chips last night so dinner was from the chippie - complete with NONE of my 5 a day.

CantThinkofFunnyName · 21/10/2009 13:58

Sorry Flyingma for the TMI and making you green. Stomach bug non-existent today!

I'm with you on the stomach compression. I find that I want to munch fairly constantly during the day (small things) but when it comes to the evening meal, I just don't want it, can't manage etc as feel full!

Oh dear, I suppose I really ought to do something other than MN today!

bethoo · 21/10/2009 14:09

morning all. i have been looking at boots on the web all morning as feel i need a pair!
