OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
maygirl · 16/10/2009 10:28

Coat-wise, I've got a swing coat from tesco, £20 in my normal size that should do now and for after, as only buttons around the chest.
Not great quality, but warm and when/if starts to bobble will still be good for taking DCs to the park!

somewhathorrified · 16/10/2009 11:16

bethoo Yay I'm not alone with the short stubby leg look! Personally I think it adds to the whole weeble effect. Very sexy .

With regards to the winter coat situation, I'm thinking of using one of DH's old fleece jackets with one of his big wooly jumpers. I figure by that point I'm going to feel so uncomfortable in my skin that looking ridiculous is going to be the least of my worries.

Hi anniemac, I found it quite interesting to see others that are the same stage as me to compare - all the ones at aquanatal are a lot further on and our antenatal classes don't start till end of November. However, everyone seems to be so different - a girl at work is 15 weeks, but as big as I was at about 22 weeks. Then another who is due around the same time (not really sure-heard 4 diffrent dates already-5 weeks apart...) and she is possitively washboard!
They have now introduced 20 week anomaly scans in this area, but only if you are booked after 28th September! Oh well, another mw said today when I asked that one might do a scan for me soon - seeing as she had a new doppler
Oh wow, only 15 days of main job left!!! Because of TOIL, hols etc. I don't need to start mat leave till 4th Jan either. New boss is leaving it up to me to find mat cover too! Meeting someone tonight to discuss it so fingers crossed.
msjammi that is an extremely generous thing for you to offer to do! And I for one(whose nearest shop to buy adult clothes in is 3 hours drive away) might just take you up on it, as it gets mighty cold and wet here! Did you manage to buy your normal dress size in it btw? I was planning to get a swing coat, but they are no use if there is a gale...

shinybaubles · 16/10/2009 16:19

Hi everyone well my cold is clearing up and I feel human again . Baby has grown so much and is 1.2kg and 36cm and still breech - so all is good - and I got medicine for acid reflux.
Bethoo I am also short and stubby legged.
Very nice offer Mrs Jammi.

Fraochsmum · 16/10/2009 16:49

Shiny, I just wondered how they weigh the baby? Apologies for being thick

CantThinkofFunnyName · 16/10/2009 17:02

I got an estimate of baby's weight at my 4D scan last week - haven't had one any other way..?

flyingma · 16/10/2009 17:07

CTOFN hope today is a better day... your post re Wed morning sounded horrible!

Ali hope that the test comes back ok. Glad the doc/MW is not worried tho. Just has a quick look on Google as the doc has just sent mine off to the labs for testing - traces of white blood cells and sugar. He reckons it looks clear "but just to be safe" has sent it to be tested and for some bloods to be done as well.

bethoo and the rest of the backache lot, after remarking to the aquanatal girls that I had tearing abdominal pains but not back pains, my back is starting to play up. Well mainly just the neck.

Could not get into a happy compromise position to sleep the last 2 nights. Previously I'd been good and slept on my left with the maternity support pillow. Baby's decided that it does not like me lying on my side but prefer it if I was on my back and side (like 45 degree rotation instead of 90 degrees) so I got kicked into submission and now I cannot really turn my neck. Driving has become somewhat precarious.

shinybaubles · 16/10/2009 17:22

Fraochsmum they get the weight at the scan, the measure head diameter, leg length and tummy diameter - the babies and then the machine estimates and says if it matches pregnancy length - pretty acurate. 4 weeks ago the baby was 500 grams. they are estimating a 3 kilo baby when I deliver which makes sense since ds was 3.3kilos.
I get scanned at every appointment here.

CantThinkofFunnyName · 16/10/2009 17:54

Flyingma - thanks! Yes, today was a better day. Wednesday was difficult, shall we say! Oh well, onwards and upwards they say. SPD won't get better before birth but am sure I'll have good days and bad days

flyingma · 16/10/2009 18:10

CTOFN Before becoming pregnant, I didn't realise that many things could go wrong with one's body. I am glad today is better for you but it is a case of taking each day at a time, isn't it?

alibobins · 16/10/2009 20:31

All my bloods have come back okay So glad I feel I can relax now.
Got weekly appointments now and got to call straight away if I have any worries.

I'm now finishing work 6th November only 3 weeks before I originally planned so not too bad. Still not going back until 1st Sept as I want the school holidays off with my other two.

Ds came home from school so excited he has won a dinner at the 'golden table' its where you get to invite a parent to join you for dinner so looks like its back to school for me hope my stomach is feeling up to school dinner.

Fraochsmum · 16/10/2009 20:35

Thanks shiny, I realised it would be through the scan, but wasn't sure how it was done!

shinybaubles · 17/10/2009 07:28

Glad you got good news alibobins.

CantThinkofFunnyName · 17/10/2009 08:31

Alibobins - fantastic news - so v v pleased for you

This end - horrid night's sleep...

So - leg cramps anyone? Alright - what about leg cramps where you need to jump out of bed quickly with SPD - anyone?

Bloody hurts doesn't it !

Plus am having to cancel a night out and sleepover with a couple of friends as have realised that driving is now no longer an option as cannot move my right leg quickly enough for emergency stops (or if i do, it's agony). Not particularly safe I figure

somewhathorrified · 17/10/2009 10:11

Ctoafn that sounds awful. Have you thought about acupuncture, I've never had it and no very little about it but isn't that supposed to be helpful for circulation and pain?

Not to rub it in, but so far I've had less pain (joint, back and headache), less nausea, etc than I had before I was pregnant! Either pregnancy suits me or the next 12weeks are going to make up for it all in some god awful way.

Mama2b5 · 17/10/2009 11:00

Morning - i booked my physio appt - 23rd Oct - this is for the SPD that has been making my life very painful, getting around is a mission walking is mission climbing stairs is a mission and even sitting down is quite painful! nuts i know but its true!!!!! getting in my bed is a mission also but getting out to go to the toilet is also mission keeping both legs together and rolling out is how i do it now!
Counting down till i decide to take my A/L and then to decide when to go on M/L is another! but maybe the way things are going the choice may be taken out of my hands if this painful SPD doesnt calm down! 14 weeks to go and its seems like a lifetime away! oh well on he positive less work i do more someone else will have to do! DH and DC - may want to cart me off somewhere till the time comes!
have a good day - i have a wedding to go to!

maygirl · 17/10/2009 16:22

Had my 4d scan! Baby has chubby cheeks and is a chunk, 2 pounds 1 at 25 weeks.
Pics not as clear as those had with DS1, my placenta is on the front of bump, and the baby was snuggling it's face right into it like a big pillow!

Sorry for all those with SPD, sounds awful. Hopefully will mean a smoother delivery with the pelvis being so flexible [hopeful].

I heard night leg cramps can be helped by eating potassium rich foods like bananas, good for healthy blood pressure too.

flyingma · 17/10/2009 19:43

Yeah had the leg cramps around 15-17 weeks when I was overseas... I was convinced it was DVT seeing as I'd come off a long haul flight.

I made the mistake of trying to stretch it out which only went to set the cramp and I've never felt pain in my legs like that before and I've done ballet pointe work where you dance till your toes bleed!! It took an age to go away, nothing made it better and even then, it hurt for 2 days afterwards! The next time I had the onset of one, I just tried to relax (i.e. not stretch it out) and return to neutral position and it's never been quite as bad.

I heard that thing about bananas and potassium but apparently jury is out on that one... oh, that plus the fact that I have gone off bananas since pg.

chickbean · 17/10/2009 20:40

Someone told me that tonic water is good for cramps - I drink it with ice and lemon and can almost imagine there's gin in it.

Fraochsmum · 18/10/2009 10:43

Sorry to hear about everyone with SPD and leg cramps and CTOFN what a shame you've had to stop driving! Very sensible though, hope you have a good public transport system where you are.
Good idea with the tonic chickbean
I'm on a few nights run of not sleeping well, and can't explain it at all. I am not in any pain whatsoever. I don't need the toilet. I don't have restless legs. I am comfortable. I am not too hot. I am not stressed about work. I just stay awake for a few hours at a time for no apparent reason!
Have a lovely relaxing Sunday everyone

sockmonkey · 18/10/2009 13:11

Ugh. DS2 is poorly. He was up last night being sick, and again this morning. He's kept down a piece of toast and is now playing with Duplo.
I feel wrecked.
Been getting the leg cramps too, but if I stretch out my legs without pointing my toes it seems to help.
Have also got pain in my crotch... not sure what it's all about, but is painful to climb stairs & walk any distance. Have appointment with the MW in a couple of weeks so will see what she says.

On the plus side I got the HiP grant through and have bought a pram. Was really pleased, cost me £69 from the market, as it was a slight second (has a bit of scuffing on it)but in argos catalogue it should be £150 (yes I am a cheapskate).

I'm going to get the boys some new car seats with the rest of the money. I was going to treat myself to some Uggs, but DH had a huge rant about how much he hates them, and how everyone is wearing them, so I'll not bother. I'm planning on annoying him by having the baby on his birthday, any more than that would just be cruel

chickbean · 18/10/2009 14:48

Sockmonkey - I know loads of people who had their children on their own birthday or partner's birthday. My best friend did - her husband announced the birth of their second child as "I told my wife I wanted a Porsche for my fortieth but she gave me a son, and I've already got one of those."

Our DS2 was due on DS1's birthday but he was a week late. The only upside of having a January baby (swore I'd always avoid the Christmas period) is that people no longer think that we only have sex once a year

FakePlasticTrees · 18/10/2009 18:11

I've got the horrid leg cramps too - not fun. Esp as I seem to get them at 7am on days like today when I'd planned a lazy lie in with no alarm.... I've been told to make sure I'm not dehydrated to avoid the leg cramps.

Spent the day packing, moving house on Wednesday - and v v v glad we booked a firm to do the main move for us, DH has separated the AC joint in his shoulder so is failing at his usual main talent of 'lifting heavy things' Between my bump and his shoulder, we're not much use for anything other than sitting on the sofa eating biscuits.

Sockmonkey - hope your DS is feeling better. If your baby is born on your DH's birthday, will they have any coinciding 'significant' birthdays?
