I can't believe I missed all the funny talk of sex and/or lack thereof. Partly due to work arrangements and partly to lack of inclination on my part, my poor DH is so resigned to it all that the other day when I mentioned something about cot-vs-cotbed vs something about next child, he made a comment along the lines of "oh goody, that means I am due a shag in the next few years". LOL. He is exaggerating but defo no nympho tendencies here.
[tmi alert] The midwife at my condensed antenatal class mentioned that if you were running late, that the recent scientific evidence shows that there is no clear link between sex/ semen and bringing on labour. I think at the point where I am 2 weeks overdue, like you, CTOFN I'd think I would give most things a go! My yoga teacher and also a lady who's back 2nd time round with the yoga teacher have sworn that stimulating one's nipples (sorry, I did issue a TMI alert ) help re-start or even bring on labour.
FlightofFancy snap re the movement thing. Baby's kicks have become more a movement thing... like a less subtle version of the initial "butterflies" movements I felt. Only difference is that if the baby's transverse, I can feel kicks in the side. When it is head up/down (it was down on Monday when the Doc checked so here's hoping it stays there), the kicks become more like squirming.
somewhathorrified You will need to get the maternity ones like shinybaubles mentioned. I cannot give you the citation coz I forgot where I read it but it was something along the lines of the heavy pads are slightly different and might be too drying in case you have had stiches (tmi, sorry) etc. Bascially you are more likely to get infections if you use the ones for heavy flow instead of the pregnancy ones. If there are any healthcare professionals on here, pls feel free to elaborate/ correct me.
[tmi alert again]
bethoo are you talking about the vag sweep? I thought the one somewhat is referring to is to prep the skin around there to make it more supple in the hope that you don't tear too much?
You can also have it while you are in labour and a friend of mine (overseas) who did, said that it gave her some comfort.
I asked the antenatal midwife about it and she said to "look it up on the internet". She said they can't do the ones when you are in labour but it might be worth looking up the ones you do at home. I think for me this falls into the I'll give it a go if there is half a chance it might help category.
somewhat I was hoping to give that a go soon and I know this is around the time we should start. Need to search for some info on it but am at work and I don't think it's the kind of info I want them to think I am looking at all day - LOL!
MissMarjoribanks Welcome! I'm moving up to not far near you in a few weeks time. And not a moment too soon, I just want to nest and settle things.
