Devotion - I didn't know about that but CONGRATULATIONS!!! It really is fantastic news for you and your family. Thanks for sharing with us - hearing good news like that puts our own moans and groans into perspective and puts a smile on everyone's face, I'm sure.

Shame you can't have a few drinks to celebrate!!!

quirkychick · 02/11/2009 20:39

devotion that's wonderful news. Now you can relax and start to look forward to your new baby!

quirkychick · 02/11/2009 20:46

I wanted to post that separately.

Dd has had very bad cold for 3 days, gp thinks it isn't swine flu and she hasn't had that high a temperature. Luckily, her asthma is ok so far but we have had crap sleep for 3 nights, last night was awake at 10,11,12,1 . And now I have really bad cough and tight chest. I am asthmatic and slightly worried but they don't want to give me anything above my inhalers. So am eating honey, soup and inhaling steam like no one's business as I don't want a repeat of last year's chest infection.

Apologies for rant but feel crap and want to get it off my chest!

I hope everyone else is well.

sockmonkey · 03/11/2009 08:06

devotion that is brilliant news. I bet you are on cloud nine. V impressed with marathon running! I get out of breath doing the school run.

quirky Hope you and DD are feeling better soon. Sounds like you are doing all the right things to fight it off.

Fraochsmum · 03/11/2009 08:13

Absolutely fantastic news devotion, you must be so delighted! A massive weight of all of your minds xxxx

iateallthecreameggsyummy · 03/11/2009 08:19

Devotion thats fantastic news Im so pleased for you and your family!!

Quirky I hope you feel better soon, as midwife told me just Hanker down till you feel better! xx

somewhathorrified · 03/11/2009 10:44

morning all.

Great news devotion.

Not much going on here, although I think I've sprained my thumb/wrist or something in that area, bit of a pain in the ...well hand really but what can you do. Currently on the witch hazel soaked bandage. I swear I did it rolling getting out of bed the other day.

ampster · 03/11/2009 10:45

Congrats devotion, great news.

Anyone else getting the killer leg cramps? They hit me in the night, take ages to go away, are really frightening and leave me limping the next day! I try to keep my leg bent instead of reflexively straightening it to get rid of it, and last night I was just trying to "breathe through the pain", thinking that it might be good practice for labour - you know, trying to keep calm while a bit of your body independently does its own thing and all you can go is go with it and try to be cool about it. But still, I really want them to stop! Might have to try taking more vitamins - apparently magnesium / calcium / potassium can stop them from happening?

My antenatal classes start this week. Didn't have any with DS1 because I was living in Sweden and all the classes were in Swedish. Hopefully I'll learn something new, or meet some new people at least.

Slightly jealous of those of you counting down the days till maternity leave starts! As a work-from-home freelancer you don't really feel the benefit of bank holidays / weekends / maternity leaves - though I have arranged to take January and February off work because I'll either be suffering carpal tunnel syndrome and all kinds of pregnancy aches and pains, or I'll be walking like a cowboy and constantly breastfeeding!

bit long, sorry all

loonylady · 03/11/2009 12:57

hi all..eek 30 weeks today! baby #2 -had a CS last time and now swing on a daily basis between wanting to try for a natural and thinking i'll go for what i know (C-S)...maybe the 35 week scan will decide for me if the baby is breech again!

loonylady · 03/11/2009 13:00

and ps...thats fab news Devotion! lovely to hear something good like that!

Partyofsixsoontobeseven · 03/11/2009 13:19

Hi all

Sorry its been a while - computer bugs again!

Seen mw last weds 29+3 and she says i have glucose in wee. No history of diabetes in family or with other 4 pgs. She said will test again 18/11, and if it is still there to take bloods etc.. Should i be worried, she didn't give me any advice on changing diet etc. I don't have a sweet tooth anyway but any advice lovely ladies may have would be appreciated.

O a separate note - the dreaded swine flu - A lady a bit close to home (salford, i'm in manchester) was admitted to hospital 35wks, delivered baby safely but mum got pnemonia (sp?) and died on sat. If the vaccine did cause any future medical/mental problems for this baby we would just deal with it as we would if told he/she had autism/cancer or any other problem. But I would want to be here to deal with it. If I don't have the jab and get swine flu and die I'll be no good to anyone, least of all my husband left with 4 prob 5 children to raise. So I have made an appointment with gp tomorrow for jab. I will try and push for celvapan but wI'll take what ever is offered. I know not everyone will agree with me but thats how I feel at the mo - I may change my mind before tomorrow. Anyone else had it??

Sorry its long, good news devotion, will catch up with others news later TTFN

Partyofsixsoontobeseven · 03/11/2009 13:26

PS - londonlottie, just notice a message saying you were in hospital on bedrest. Hope you and girls are ok and not going to crazy couped up, any heard from her.

flyingma · 03/11/2009 13:55

devotion Like everyone else, I am delighted at your good news!

somewhathorrified I'm rolling out of bed in the mornings too. Getting fed up of the bump being in the way: I seem to getting increasingly clumsy and dropping stuff, as I am become less able to bend over and pick it up!

ampster I got the leg cramps a few times the first time I got it was at 16 weeks, 2 days after I'd come off a long-haul flight. I was convinced it was DVT!! The first time it happened, I did what I do with normal sports cramps and tried to stretch it out. The pain was excruiating (mums, if labour pains are more much worse, I really don't want/ need to know). It took an age to go away and even then, hurt for 2 days after!

I heard too it's something about potassium or eating more bananas... except bananas are one of my anti-cravings.

Since then, I've "managed" it by NOT stretching out the cramp. Normally it happens to me in the mornings when I wake up and try to stretch. If I feel the twinge, I relax the muscles and try not to move them for a while. Not had sudden attacked in the middle of the night tho...

sazlocks · 03/11/2009 14:39

Out of touch a bit so haven't read back further than this page yet !
Great news Devotion

After initially thinking I wasn't going to have the swine flu jab I am now thinking that I will if I can get hold of the Celvapan one. I have an app with my GP on Thurs to talk it through.

Had a 28 week check with the midwife yesterday and was measuring a little bigger than I should have been. Got to go back in a couple of weeks.

Am feeling huge and keep standing on tiny toys of DS that I can't see while I am walking round. There is a lot of swearing under my breath going on at the mo !

Hello all

Thank you for your lovely messages, i feel so much lighter - its great!

For all of you who are having uncomfortable nights I can not tell you much I love my relaxtion cd, i listen to it most nights and wake up in the position I went off in. Thats how deep I sleep!

Its def down to the cd so try and get one I've put the links up of the cds I use. If you want I can do it again.

As for the swine flu jab, i'm still in two minds about it. I only want the celvapan too but not sure when its available. One min I am sure i will get it then someone changes my mind.

I have two kids who pick up bugs and I work with kids so I can not escape it. Just can not decide????

Partyofsixsoontobeseven - my friends has gestational diabetes when pregnant and just had to change the way she ate for the rest of her pregnancy and it went as soon as the baby was born. fingers crossed it will trun out you dont otherwise its horrible tasting choccie until you meet you baby

mistletoekisses · 03/11/2009 18:30

Partyofsix - Lottie is posting occasionally on the thread below.

www.mumsnet.com/Talk/49/843418-Short-Cervix-Anyone-Looking-like-bed-rest-from-now-on

Devotion - congrats to you and your family. What lovely lovely news. to you all. I know what a rollercoaster journey it is when a loved one has cancer.

Re. the swine flu jab, I had mine last weds. Sore arm for quite a few days, but no symptoms aside from that. There is a very good thread on the pregnancy section with lots of info (good and bad, so be warned!)

devotion · 03/11/2009 19:37

mistletoekisses - did you have the Pandremix one (not sure of the spelling)?

devotion · 03/11/2009 19:38

oh and thank you too! x

mistletoekisses · 04/11/2009 07:47

Yes I did have Pandremix. And am very happy that I have done so. I honestly believe that I have made the best decision for both myself and my family based on the information I had. Hopefully will all turn out ok.

flyingma · 04/11/2009 09:49

I am officially retracting my last statement in my last post!! Woke up this morning with a jolt when I stretched too far and triggered off the leg cramp. I sat up like a bolt (amazing as I can't manage this most of the time now... there must still be intact ab muscles) and grabbed my calf.

There was like a throbbing mass/muscle moving around the calf area and I had to physically hold the muscle together in a "relaxed" state to stop the cramp from properly getting hold. I think I stemmed it but now the whole calf muscle's a bit short and am now limping round work. Bah...

bethoo · 04/11/2009 09:50

excellent news Devotion
i get bad leg cramps during sex which can affect hte enjoyment rather slightly as i tense up sorry if tmi and it sets off leg cramps so i have to try and go all floppy! poor dp may feel like i am a sack of potatoes lying there all soft!
my mw has not mentioned the jab but told me pethidine was useless! why oh why could she not have let me think it was good as it was a good placebo in the first labour!
also with fundal height you can be 2cm either way and you are still ok. i am usually always 1 or 2cm smaller but then the way the baby is lying can affect the height too.
hope everyone is well, not heard from Crumpette in a while, hope you are ok if you are here
and londonlottie good think they picked up on short cervix as cant it mean labour can be bought on earlier?
off ot my friends office to eat pastries!!!!
hope everyone else is well!
xx

somewhathorrified · 04/11/2009 10:08

No leg cramps here yet, (although pre preg it wasn't abnormal to get leg cramps during sex). Have to say tho that my libido has dropped to an all time low now, it just seems like to much hassle and bump always mangaes to get in the way. Also it's really off putting being beaten from within while getting your rocks off. DH has had leg cramps tho...does that count?

devotion · 04/11/2009 11:04

mistletoekisses - i change my mind all the time but right now at this very moment I am going to have the jab... the sooner i get it the better i think because i just keep changing my mind.

had a look on the massive thread under the pregnancy topic and came away even more confused, one message yes, following no, following yes, following no etc... really spilt 50/50 on there!

if i was due this month then i would say no and just lock myself away for 4 weeks but its just too risky to go through the whole of Nov, Dec and Jan for me.

RE: leg cramps, I got them first time and second time quite often. In fact I feel bad as each time I am pregnant I have been gorging on less healthy food. With my first my body was a temple and ate only wholesome abd organic food, and i had the worst cramps. This time I had 18 weeks of sickness and teh only thing that helped was crackers, crisps, white bread, chips etc and I have kind of continued and... no cramps? Well it maybe luck or i will wake up tonight now with them

I do feel bad about my diet this time, i eat fruit and veg everyday and drink lots of water but i am also eating lots of treats too.

Bethoo mentioned Crumpette - hope she is ok too. Maybe she is just busy right now.

Hope everyone else is feeling good.

Ah well!

I am 28 weeks now and last pregnancy I stopped working at 30 weeks, wish I had done that this time. How will I do it? I am so shattered all of the time right now.

I just want to lie down. I am still in my pj's so need to get my big growing ass moving and prepare for work tomorrow.

Beeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeed!

FakePlasticTrees · 04/11/2009 12:19

hi all, back again - having moved house but having no internet at home for another week (stupid sky people being slow) so trying to catch up!

OK - slightly worried I'm the last to go off, I've got 6 weeks left at work!! Not going to be fun. Do, however, have 3 holiday days left to take between now and then and just planning when to take them.

Also had the acidy reflux thing, have found that jaffa cakes are the best at getting rid of that (far better than midwife's suggestion of apples)

Re the jab, have any of you been asked yet? I've heard nothing from my GP and have a feeling it might end up being too late to worry. Do think we're "lucky" that we're so far along that babies are relatively developed and just growing by the time we're being asked to take the jab, if I was early on not sure how happy I'd be... (not sure if that makes sense, hope you understand what I mean!)

Oh, news, DH's shoulder isn't completely distroyed, he's only ripped one of the ligements so it should heal fine without needing an op - so should be back to fully functioning soon.

Fraochsmum · 04/11/2009 12:30

Don't worry FPT - I still have 7 weeks before I finish up here...and due in 8 1/2. Still counting down the days though!
