Hi hope everyone is well. Due Dec 15th but strangely it only just occurred to me yesterday that this is REAL. Anyone else feel like that?

sparklycheerymummy · 04/11/2009 22:12

thanks annie.... appreciate knowing that. felt a bit worried as the doc i sw was a bit plain faced and upfrint (which i suppose is good really). My bp was 140/78 which is verging on high app. Baby is rally hurting when it moves tonight and i feel as if i could touch its head up there if i tried. it is 2/5th engaged so still a way to go!!

LaDiDaDi · 04/11/2009 22:15

Hello all, I had a growth scan today and he's growing nicely with an estimated weight of 4lb 7oz though he appears to be breech. I've got to go back at 36 weeks for another scan and clinic appointment as they still wouldn't book me in for my section today which has left me feeling a bit stressed.

On the bright side the his bedroom looks lovely though we need to get the cot out of the loft this weekend.

No name here yet. Dp likes Jake and I had agreed but I've now gone off it. I like Leo but think it might be a bit twee as dd's name starts with an L too.

I keep thinking of more things for my hospital bag, last time it was all so sudden that I didn't have a bag and dp and my mum just kept bringing stuff in for me but this time I feel like I need to be organised. So far I've got in two pairs of pjs, slippers, 10 pairs of knickers, 2 packs of pads, a pack of breastpads, a hairbrush and comb.
Thinking that I also need:
Towels x2
Shampoo, conditioner, shower gel and showe puff
Flannel
Face wash and wipes
Nappies
Cotton wool
Baby wipes
Babygros
Vests
Breastfeeding bras
Nipple cream
Sweets and snacks
Trashy celb mags
What else am I missing???

Hello all

Bit of a late joiner here so hoping I'm not crashing the party too late. Only recently discovered MN and haven't read all this thread but am working my way back. Am just about 34 weeks (due 20th December) with my first and am so relieved to hear others are just getting round to packing their hospital bags etc (or haven't started as in my case).

LaDiDaDi - maybe lipsalve for your list? I'm addicted to Carmex as it is but I've heard if you have gas and air it can make your mouth very dry so I'm going to be packing a number of them so one is always to hand.

Good tips re flipflops and antibacterial wipes for my list thanks.

Almost 3 weeks left till maternity leave...shouldn't be wishing this time away but the tube commute gets me down so will be happy I won't have to waddle on and off to change trains twice a day.

Hope everyone is doing well...as far as I can see no one has popped yet is that right?

Also just wondered if anyone had tried hypnobirthing? Sorry if that's already been discussed previously..in which case allow me to get my coat...

TheBlairSnitchProject · 05/11/2009 07:48

LaDiDaDi - I started a thread about what to pack for an ELCS here - It's really helped me get sorted so I hope it can help you too...

It needs flip flops and Antibacterial wipes adding to it - I shall leave that to you

Catherine is what we've chosen to call our new DD Lee36. Glad you like it She still doesn't have a middle name yet though!

We're still waiting for our first baby AFAIK - wonder who it'll be?

TheBlairSnitchProject · 05/11/2009 08:00

Ooh, started this one about healing after a section too. I got a horrible infection in my wound last time and don't want to do that again!!

AmazingBouncingFerret · 05/11/2009 09:00

Where the hell can I buy flip flops from at this time of year??!!

sparkly I also had "sugary waters" as the nurses put it when I went in for my final growth scan, she asked if I had eaten any sweets or drank any coke, I put it down to the 2 weetabix with the mountains of sugar I had eaten prior to doing the sample.

snitch thanks for the advice about the snowdome we have decided to brave the sealife centre, it has lots of seats for me to rest plus its indoors and reasonably warm!

Glad everyone managed to save lots of money with the vouchers I sent out, I usually end up throwing them away as any friends or relatives get my staff discount anyway!

Does anyone elses baby seem to be getting the hiccups alot? Its driving me mad especially late at night when im trying to sleep.

Had a right fuss trying to find a fireman sam fireengine for DS. He had picked it out and told his sister that was the one he wanted, nowhere had it in stock! Ended up paying pretty much double for one off ebay!
Is anyone elses children getting eager to meet their new sibling? My DS is always saying he wants his sister and I keep having to explain that its a few weeks yet! Bless him.

TheBlairSnitchProject · 05/11/2009 09:08

Ebay have flip flops - just avoid the fetish "well worn" ones

SeaLife center sounds fab. Hope you guys have fun.

charleymouse · 05/11/2009 10:13

Ooh I also started my rasberry leaf tablets yesterday and bought Arnica tablets for healing. (Can recomend them BlairSnitch) I am carrying my Bachs rescue remedy in my handbag and am in theory ready to go.

Consultant apt tomorrow where he will probably try to deter me further from my homebirth but I will remain bloody minded strong and resist his scaremongering.

I have been panicking as DD 40+10 and then DTs 31+4 so just on averages this baby should be here by now. I think it will be late like DD was though so although I should be one of the first to drop I think I will make it to the middle of the group.

TheBlairSnitchProject · 05/11/2009 10:23

Thanks Charleymouse. I had read online that Arnica tablets had been proved to be ineffective but so many real people are telling me the opposite! Got to be worth a try I think.

I still have your VBAC book as I don't have your address to send it back to. It's all ready to go as soon as I do...

Claire236 · 05/11/2009 11:14

Haven't got any suggestions on things to pack, in fact thinking I might need a bigger bag to include all the things already mentioned.

Had a horrible night last night. Spent a couple of hours being kept awake by pains & was starting to think baby was on his way when they eased off. Feeling ok now (apart from tired) but it totally freaked me out. 2am this morning dh snoring beside me whilst I was thinking OMG I can't give birth again, I really can't, it really hurt, panic, panic, panic. Please someone calm me down.

Bump02 · 05/11/2009 12:16

Milliemuffin · 05/11/2009 16:40

Hi girls, just wondering are any of you really not getting on with DP at the mo? He just doesnt seem to want to do anything to plan for december and its driving my crazy. He just keeps saying there's no rush and I really feel like i'm doing this pregnancy on my own sometimes. I had a nap earlier and if I mention a niggle or a pain or i'm tired he asks whats wrong with me or 'are you not well'! I'm pregnant!

AmazingBouncingFerret · 06/11/2009 07:50

Millie tell him someone due after you on here has already had their baby that might put a rocket up his arse and get him into shape. But then again he might want to read it as proof, my DH would...

TheBlairSnitchProject · 06/11/2009 08:23

I found telling DH exactly how many weeks were left to go motivated him.

"Baby due in December" seemed to leave him relaxed and chilled

"Baby coming in 7 weeks" paniced him like nothing else

Just found out my sister is pregnant! My Mum's going to be beside herself with excitement!!

AmazingBouncingFerret · 06/11/2009 08:29

Good idea in telling him in a way that makes it sound like its only tomorrow or something!
Congrats to your sister.
I was shopping with my sister at the weekend and she said she wouldnt mind another but her DH wouldnt want to. When we got home and her 2 (dd age 13 and ds age 9) were arguing and generally being pains she turned to me and said "Ive changed my mind, dont want anymore!"

TheBlairSnitchProject · 06/11/2009 08:45

Oh yes, always round down - makes it sound very, very close.

Even better, is point out how many weekends that is. 7 weeks is only 14 days at home to get things done after all.

Side effect can be that it panics me too though!!

I'm the eldest and the first to have children in my family so DS has been am only Grandchild for my Mum so far. Now she's going to have another 2 within a year!! Very weird finding out my little sister is having a baby though. Will be even weirder when it's my baby brother. They're all too young to be having sex surely!

DISCLAIMER - Not really too young, little sister is 28 and plenty old enough. Even brother is 25. They're just my little siblings and its hard to remember they're grown ups sometimes. Even when sister is married with a new 5 bed house!!

charleymouse · 06/11/2009 11:40

Millie here is some reading for your DH

My DS was born at 31 weeks +4.

That means this baby has been sat in here for 5 weeks + 2 longer than he was already. When I told DH that he visibly paled and went "oh it could be anytime now then couldn't it?"

Consultant still adamant I shouldn't have homebirth and I'm still adamant I should. MW dropping homebirth kit off on Monday.

Mybox · 06/11/2009 14:32

Ladidadi - would include some of that handwash that doesn't need water - milton do some.

Mybox · 06/11/2009 14:33

Good going charleymouse - hope your little one holds on abit longer

ViktoriaMac · 06/11/2009 17:39

Hi ladies,

Went to midwife today to tell her that we had settled on a homebirth, was all ready not to be swayed, only to be told that my care is being passed onto consultant due to unimproved chronic anaemia - no amount of iron is helping. Also baby is still breech. Anyone know how many weeks they allow for baby to turn before they try ECV or book a CS? I am 34 weeks at the moment.

Hope all going well.

LittleMonkeysMummy · 06/11/2009 19:55

Hi everyone

Had my growth scan today and everything is looking fine. Baby is measuring about 2 weeks ahead of where it should be but am not too concerned as DD was the same and ended up being a long skinny baby with a HUGE head so it looks like this one will be the same

Came back from the hospital and spent about 2 hours showing my dad the scan pics of the face and profile but he still can't see it

Am feeling knackered as DD has been teething (why does she only get teeth in when DH is offshore ?) and baby has been bouncing around all night. DD is getting most annoyed at getting kicked every time she wants a cuddle
