Thanks Snitch.... each day is getting a little easier!!! My dd is with her father tonight so i am hiding from trick or treaters...... just feel that way out! A friend has asked if she can come round one day next week and coo over all the baby stuff i have bought...... thats the sort of friend i need!!!Snitch I think i have said before that I love Catherine!!!!! We have chosen Alice or Toby!!!! My dds middle name is Catherine spelt exactly the same as you have written it! I to am feeling quited down and stressed...... got a houseful of guests.... my brother and my dps son (teenage variety) and i am struggling..... teenage boys ignoring me and looking to their dad as if to say.....'well dad do i really have to do what she says' and my brother just being totally bloody arrogant!!!!! THATS BETTER.......needed a moan!

TheBlairSnitchProject · 31/10/2009 18:13

I've just ordered the cotbed and crib mattresses and a few other assorted bits for baby using the voucher Arghh gave me and saved over £35!!

Thanks Arghh

Alice or Toby are both lovely names sparkly. I know a little Alice, she's a cutie My sisters middle name is Catherine too. I asked a friend of mine called Catherine if she minded us using the name. She said she was flattered and also that she's always loved her name whatever age she's been. That was good to hear.

Managed to let PIL have a feel of DD wriggling today. My MIL asked when I was pregnant with DS if FIL could feel him kick but DS was always very quiet and we never ended up being with them when he was kicking. DD seems to be a more active baby though and has whole 5-10 minute sessions when she will go crazy. She was having one while we were at their house earlier so they got to have a feel. I hope she calms down when she's born else we're going to have our hands full!

sparklycheerymummy · 31/10/2009 18:19

ha ha.... my bump is wriggling now!!! The trouble I am having is that it does something and i seriously feel like i am going to wet myself!!!! Just blown my gym ball up and my dp made a rude comment about what we could do whilst using it..... typical man!!!

ArghhhhmazingBouncingSpider · 31/10/2009 18:19

You're welcome Snitch.

Im having a weird day, really heavy pressure 'down there' and not as mobile as I usually am. am really glad im getting to see midwife on Tues. Feel as if im about ready to have this baby any day now!

Good note my driving lesson went well even though it had been 2 weeks since id been behind the wheel!

TheBlairSnitchProject · 31/10/2009 18:25

And because I did the shopping online, I still have two vouchers left!

I'm feeling huge now too. Waddling a lot and feeling very wide. Boobs have definitely gotten bigger!! Maybe we're due a batch of early babies?

Glad your driving lesson went well Arghh. I'm struggling to get behind the wheel now! Damn my short legs.

sparklycheerymummy · 31/10/2009 18:49

AN early baby would be nice but not for another week as my dp stil has jobs to do. just looked at dummies on ebay...... i may well be a bad mother and this baby may have a dummie!!but people are paying £25 for a certain sort of discontinued tommee tippee dummy..... rather extreme dont you think!!!

Claire236 · 01/11/2009 11:36

I hate dummies but have got a couple as they were a life saver when ds1 had colic. Wouldn't pay £25 for one though.

sparkly - baby quite often makes me feel like I'm going to wet myself. So glad it's not just me.

I'll be surprised if this baby hangs on much longer. I feel so big that I can't believe he's not going to run out of room before long. I've had a few people say I look smaller in the last few days & both me & dh think it's because my bump is noticeably lower so maybe baby will be arriving fairly soon. I can't tell you how good it feels to get to the point of looking forward to baby arriving rather than desperately hoping he stays put. 35 weeks tomorrow & he's welcome to arrive anytime he likes from then on.

TheBlairSnitchProject · 01/11/2009 15:57

I've spent a fortune this weekend!

But, I now have cot and crib mattresses on the way, a load of bits a pieces for after baby is born and most of the rest of my Christmas presents

Feeling much more in control now.

I've got 2 dummies waiting for DD. I would much rather she has those than sucked her thumb! DS rejected dummies outright but he never sucked his thumb either so I was happy.

My nephew is 11 and still sucks his thumb. He also bursts into tears whenever the dentist tells him he will need a brace. But He's pulled all of his front teeth out of line so it's inevitable now. Apparently, if his teeth are overcrowded when he's older, he'll get the brace cheaply on the NHS but if it's purely cosmetic 'cause he sucked his thumb, his parents will have to pay the whole lot!! so my SIL isn't happy about it either.

I had heard that dummies were now recommended to help prevent cot death too. Something about keeping the airways open. I really ought to read up on it some more...

£25 quid for one is way too much though

Milliemuffin · 01/11/2009 17:28

I had a plate brace fitted when I was about 13 and that makes it impossible to suck your thumb so I had no choice but to stop, I'd probably still do it now if it weren't for that!

Me and DP have painted half our DS's new room today whilst he's at his grandparents and now I'm thinking my back is going to be slightly stiff tomorrow

Looks good though, we got the jungle room bits from Next so it's going to be really cute, cant wait til it's finished

TheBlairSnitchProject · 01/11/2009 18:19

I had a plate brace when I was younger too due to overcrowding. Made me lisp which was a pain as both my first and surname began with an S!

Never sucked my thumb though.

AmazingBouncingFerret · 01/11/2009 19:24

I think I have everything.
All I need to do is wait till next payday and get some token pressies for family and B'day pressies for DS and im all set.
Woopah!

How much would I hate taking DS to snowdome for snowball fights and snowman building on 4th Dec for his b'day? I want to take him and know he would love it but Im going to be soo fat and unable to move properly. I havent the energy or the inclination for a party so im stuck lol. Any ideas anyone?

sparklycheerymummy · 01/11/2009 20:26

This baby has def dropped and i now getting back ache!!!! not quite ready for an arrival yet though..... need at least another week !!

TheBlairSnitchProject · 02/11/2009 12:44

It's D-day. 2pm this afternoon and I should find out what day DD will be born!! Very excited

Do you have any older nieces/nephews or uncles and aunts that could do the Snowdome for you Arghh? When my SIL wanted to send my nephew toboganning for his birthday but couldn't go in cause she had a tiny baby, she just paid for me and DH (before we had kids) to join in so we could supervise.

Either that or have a quiet tea party at home this year?

Claire236 · 02/11/2009 13:15

We've made it, 35 weeks today. Going to celebrate by picking ds up from school as I've been banned from doing the short walk since he started school.

Snitch - that is exciting. Always seems to me like the only advantage of a section is that you know when you'll get to meet your baby.

FedUpWithRainyDevon · 02/11/2009 13:21

Snitch - I haven't been on here all weekend so just catching up and saw your thread and you sound like I did a few weeks ago - my DS has been playing me up terribly and has gone through a horrible shouting phase. Admittedly it's not dangerous like throwing but it is horrible to see him shouting in other children's faces, as well as shouting and hitting me.

I started this thread and had several people feeling exactly the same as me.

I've bought the baby whisperer book for toddlers which has really helped me take a step back, pick my battles, keep a bit calmer(not always possible admittedly) and just tweak a bit of my behaviour, and DS has responded really well to it.

It's flipping hard though isn't it, children are very good at picking fights on the days when you're at your most tired/depressed/hormonal

x

BlueChampagne · 02/11/2009 13:51

Gradually getting house sorted out - DS spent his first night in his big boy's bed last night. He was enthusiastic about it and slept fine.

Thoughts now turn to hospital bag (another trip to the attic). It seemed huge last time so will try and take less. We don't live far away so if I am in for longer than anticipated, I'll just have to issue DH/Mum with lists.

TheBlairSnitchProject · 02/11/2009 16:54

Appointment was totally pointless. They saw I had a low lying, anterior placenta at 20 weeks. I'm not getting rescanned to see if it has moved till 36 weeks. There was therefore no point making a consultant appointment at 32 weeks to tell me that they had to see if the placenta had moved before they could decide on a section date!!!

Grrrr, damn thing was just to try and talk me into a VBAC

Will check out your thread FedUp. I have a couple of toddler taming books but haven't had the time to read them, maybe I'll get some tips

AmazingBouncingFerret · 02/11/2009 17:48

I have baby bag packed and ready. So all I need is for her to magically and painlessly appear from out of my belly without the need for a labour/hospital bag for me.

Claire236 · 02/11/2009 19:40

That's a shame Snitch. Don't they think you're capable of deciding for yourself whether to try for a VBAC or not.

I've packed my bag but nothing for baby as over here (I'm in Germany) they provide everything. Will bring a few baby bits as I would like him to wear what we've bought him but it's not an issue like when I had ds1 in UK.

mediamama · 03/11/2009 09:54

Due 23rd December with my first baby but at last M/W apt a week ago I was told baby's head was already 3/5 engaged.
Is this normal for a first at the start of 32 weeks?
I've only got a small bump so surprised if I will be early but M/W said I might want to rethink working up to a week before due date in case!
Wouldn't mind giving birth before Xmas though! Hope everyone else is doing well

BexJ78 · 03/11/2009 12:19

Hi mediamama
I am expecting first baby on 5th Dec. when I saw the midwife the other week she said that head was down, but not engaged, and that was at 34 weeks. Going again this Friday so will see if any change, but the way she said it to me was that she wouldn't exepect it to be engaged at that stage? Who knows?! Good luck!

Claire236 · 03/11/2009 12:31

Had mw appt 2 days before ds1 arrived 4 weeks early & his head wasn't engaged at all. A friend spent 3 weeks with her babys head fully engaged before she finally arrived. This time round I'm 35 weeks & head was 1/5 engaged 2 weeks ago which the mw said was what she'd expect. My obstetrician however doesn't check how engaged the head is as she doesn't believe it's a reliable indication of when baby will arrive. Not sure what use any of that is but I wouldn't read too much into how engaged the head is or isn't if I were you.

mediamama · 03/11/2009 12:44

ok thanks! Have been very fortunate to have had the easiest pregnancy ever - so keep thinking something has to happen and I'll end up giving birth several weeks early on a crowded tube to work!

Milliemuffin · 03/11/2009 14:23

Hi girls, hope you're all ok.

My MW told me yesterday that i'm only measuring 30cm when I'm 32wks and when I mentioned it to my friends they all nodded and said how small I was and now i'm worrying myself that maybe i've got low fluid or something? I was bigger with DS and second babies are supposed to be bigger so why am I smaller? Not having a good day which isn't helping

FedUpWithRainyDevon · 03/11/2009 15:31

Hi Millie - I wouldn't worry, my midwife told me that it was just a rough guide of size, it depends if head is further down, what position baby is in etc. I am measuring 33cm but am 34 weeks and was always spot on for size last pregnancy.

Maybe baby is just a bit smaller than DS? Do you know if it's a girl or boy? It might be that it's a petite girl, or you've got less fluid in there, or just that he/she's got more curled up in there?

Try not to worry x
