Fingers crossed for Minshu! Mrswee sorry to hear your cramping wore off, but hopefully the start of something! Why can't they just keep you in the hospital when they induce you until you have the baby, instead of all that faffing about with taxies? When they induced me I was not allowed to leave the hospital and I only had the pessary and sweep. I suppose each hospital has it's own way, but seems like a bit of a faff for you to keep going each day! Fingers crossed you'll have had your baby by then, anyway!

JaMmRocks · 05/10/2009 17:28

stayfrosty congratulations! what a relief everything was ok in the end, but sorry you had a scare. How's the spd?

fingers crossed for minshu and mrswee now

SprinkleofStardust · 05/10/2009 18:04

Not been on for ages, but congratulations to everyone who have had their babies, not many left now, hope things start happening for those of you left

Can't believe it's now October and our babies are here!!

Hope everyone is enjoying their LO's and managing to get some sleep

Minshu · 05/10/2009 19:28

Congratulations, StayFrosty - so pleased to hear from you

Thanks for the best wishes, ladies.

Went into hospital last night due to getting some bright red blood in addition to the show, and we thought labour might get established naturally, so they kept me in. I was 1.5 to 2 cm dilated at 4 am but everything died off to erratic crampings late morning, so DP and I came home to get some sleep in preparation for induction. Very disappointed and felt like a bit of a failure when we left with baby still being in tummy instead of arms, but the sleep has done us both good. We'll be off again soon.

The induction process at your hospital sounds like a right palaver, mrswee! My obstetrician told me that only something like 5% of women take 4 doses of the gel to get started. None of the crampings are wasted, though, so you shouldn't have to come and go too many times.

It'll probably be a few days before I get online again, so good luck mrswee and the others in the waiting room.

arolf · 05/10/2009 19:42

congrats to those who've had their babies recently! and good luck to the few ladies still standing

my DS just brought up a large gobbet of baby vomit all over my top, and is now sitting in his dad's arms whilst I prat about online - loving this motherhood thing

mrswee · 05/10/2009 21:54

thanks minshu, sorry to hear you had to come back from the hospital! You'll have your LO very soon though. GOOD LUCK lady!!

I'm cramping again this evening, every 20 mins or so.. so something is happening hopefully in the next few days!!

Yes our hospital maternity unit is basically not fit for purpose - fairly newly built and far too small for current demand so they send people home whenever possible, in fact when you turn up in labour, it is very hard to get in, they will try their best to get you to go home again unless you are about to give birth in the waiting room!
They don't have enough beds or birthing rooms and that's why they won't keep you in after induction, they just monitor you for 30 mins, if nothing happens during that time then it's off home and drag yourself back in if you go into labour later... we don't drive so it's going to be fun if it comes to it!!

My friend was in full blown labour there a couple of moths ago- she had been birthing for about 8 hours in a private room, then her contractions tailed off a little- they tried to get her to get up and get dressed so they could send her home!!!! She is a nurse that happens to work at the hospital, so she stood her ground and insisted she was at least examined before she did anything - they hadn't even bother to do that- turned out she was 8 cm and had her wee boy about 40 mins later..... crazy really, she lives about 35mins from the hospital so you can imagine that would have been a nightmare had she left!!

StealthPolarBear · 06/10/2009 09:22

good luck minshu

Ladyem · 06/10/2009 09:39

Is it minshu's induction today? Good luck, Minshu!! xx

mrswee · 06/10/2009 12:01

so been having regular then irregular then again regular and now again irregular (and on and on) contractions since yesterday evening!!

Excited but it's driving me a bit mad too that it keeps tailing off! they are pretty strong when they do happen and have been as close as 4 mins at 30-40 seconds each at 1am this morning. Did manage to get a bit of sleep. Every time I snooze they get regular again and then can tail off if I get up..

Any suggestions? I'm hoping this will establish and not just go on like this for days and days!!

on a plus point I feel every relaxed about it all!!

FairySparkles · 06/10/2009 15:57

Mrswee - thats how my labour started - spent 48 hours having regular then irregular contractions - just generally faffing around and pissing me off; however once I got into established labour it was all over and done with in around 3 hours; so hopefully sounds like you might go down the same road!!.....its just sooooo frustrating eh!!

good luck minshu

Congratualtions Frosty - you weren't far behind me then lovey (Love the name too!)

....right, off to find our post natal thread now that I've got 10 mins to myself (dd at inlaws and dp having cuddles with Lola!)

Just5minspeace · 07/10/2009 10:19

Finally - baby girl arrived Monday! All good - hope the rest of you have your babies very soon.

mummyhill · 07/10/2009 14:11

Congratulations just5minspeace.

Ladyem · 08/10/2009 21:18

Congratulations just5minspeace!

Wonder how Minshu got on with induction?

All quite from Mrswee, too. Hopefully good news!

Minshu · 10/10/2009 19:30

Just quickly - Caitlin Mary born by emergency CS at 11.39 am on Tuesday 6th October. Just got home a couple of hours ago. Knackered and feeling totally inept - she only sleeps at the breast... At least she's cute

All very quiet here - will come on to post-natal thread soon with more info and will try to catch up.

Congrats to J5MP and looking forward to hearing from mrswee!

Thusnelda · 10/10/2009 20:25

Congratulations Just5minspeace and Minshu!

Minshu, sorry to hear that you had to have an emergency CS as well. I started feeling much better after about a week. Feeding and sleeping also gets better - but I'm still not getting much more than three hours sleep at a time. But at least the constant feeding doesn't seem to be in vain: she is about 700g above her birth weight already! (at 16 days)

Mrswee, any news? Fingers crossed that we'll have the last of the September mums on the post-natal side soon!

Congratulations Minshu. Sorry you ended up with an emergency section love hope you start to feel better soon.

Minshu · 11/10/2009 14:01

Thanks, Thusnelda - glad to hear about your LOs weight gain. MW has just been and said things will be much better next week, too. In the meantime, diclofenac is my friend. Disappointed that things didn't go to plan, but was kept informed and given choices the whole way through, so don't feel too traumatised.

Still trying to catch up with RL contacts - having dispersed family and no mobile or web access (the bedside console didn't work very well) in the hospital made me feel really isolated, so it's great to be out.

Ladyem · 12/10/2009 15:12

Congratulations Minshu! Hope you are recovering well and that Caitlin is doing well!

Minshu · 13/10/2009 12:26

Thanks, Ladyem - Caitlin is stoically putting up with the ineptitude of her parents

Checking in for news of mrswee!

mrswee · 15/10/2009 07:42

Hello!

finally a birth announcement!

Elsie Rose born 10/10/09 at 18.50 just a totty wee 7lbs 3oz!

she took her sweet time getting here! I had hestitant labour for 6 days, which was just so tiring and stressful not to mention painful!

in end I was 3cm by friday afternoon, went in to hospital friday eve, at 5cm. No progession over night despite regular contractions.
So they started induction saturday am, after 4 hours still no progression!
A second session got me to pushing stage after another 2 hours, pushed for over an hour... still no baby! so off to surgery for forceps!
Got off fairly lightly considering... she just needed a wee tweek and I was able to push her out in two pushes!
Just small 2nd degree tear, no cut. She was fine just small marks on her face that were gone in two days.
I was lucky, I was off my head on whatever they could give me! my poor dh was pretty traumatised!!

Anyway here safe and sound now and really putting me through my paces! She is just gorgeous!!!

thank you everyone for all your support! xx

mrswee · 15/10/2009 07:55

Minshu "she only sleeps at the breast... At least she's cute" pretty much discribes Elsie... she only doesn't cry when she is at the breast... At least she's cute!

Sorry to hear about your emc. These babies realy do know how to cause a drama!

hope you and Caitlin are doing well now.

Glad to hear next week gets better!

Ladyem · 15/10/2009 09:20

Congratulations Mrswee!! Sorry it was such a long ordeal, but sounds like you are both doing well now! Gorgeous name, too!
