Birth announcement - Sophie Grace born 1.14am on Saturday 26th Sept. That membrane sweep 36 hours before seem to work then....

An incredibly lucky labour - severe period pains followed by very strong contractions. When I got to hosp was 3cm dilated. Then contractions increased in intensity 100 fold, and I was 9cm dilated 90 mins later. It was too quick for any pain relief bar from gas and air. You could say it stung a bit........and no need for stitches either. That said though, when baby arrived she was raced into the special care unit as her heart skips a beat every so often, so didn't get to cuddle her until the next day and even then she was covered in wires.

Been told by the doctors that the problem should just sort itself out. She was discharged yesterday and is due for more blood tests and another ECG next week.

Wishing every one else well and to those still waiting, crossing fingers that it happens very very soon.

JaMmRocks · 29/09/2009 09:46

congrats trixievix, arolf and newbie!

All these birth stories bring mine back in vivid technicolour, especially the too quick for pain relief ones! Well done ladies...

Keeping fingers crossed Minshu and SF will squeeze into September! (Or is that squeeze out?!?)

Minshu · 29/09/2009 11:02

Congratulations, newbie!! Hope that Sophie's heartbeat settles soon.

Thanks, JRocks - I'm going to make a start on the pineapple

StealthPolarBear · 29/09/2009 12:18

Congratulations arolf and newbie

not heard from SF for a while...

mummyhill · 29/09/2009 13:22

Congratulations Arolf and Newbie.

Ladyem · 29/09/2009 15:50

Congratulations Arolf and Newbie! And welcome to Oliver and Sophie!

to those of you still to pop! Who do we have left? Stayfrosty, Minshu and Mrswee? Is that everyone? Good luck and hugs to you all, thinking of you and hope that you are not too fed up.

twinklegreen · 29/09/2009 16:03

I'm still here too, posting on both Sept and Oct threads. Looks like it's going to be an October one!

Ladyem · 29/09/2009 16:13

Good luck to you, too twinkle!!

Minshu · 29/09/2009 16:30

Chocolate biscuits - what a good idea, Ladyem!! FairySparkles was due the same day as StayFrosty and me, but she's also been suspiciously quiet. I tried updating the stats over the weekend, but I've missed some updates (and more have come in since). Fingers-crossed for all of us - little more than 30 hours left of September.

My step-mother just mailed me with her tip to get things going - "a really good orgasm" at it just being a bit out of the blue from her.

StealthPolarBear · 29/09/2009 19:55

at your stepmum - I pretended not to hear when a guy at work told me that sex was the wayto bring on labour

mummy2t · 29/09/2009 20:26

Hi all, just a quick note to let you all know that Isabelle was born this morning at 1.24am. All abit sudden, delivered her myself on the kitchen floor! waters broke at 1am and she arrived at 1.24am just as i was leaving for hospital. Wonderful birth as everything went ok. we are very very lucky
will be back soon to tell you all about it xxxxxxxxxxxxx

Minshu · 29/09/2009 20:27

I actually found it funny coming in a mail from my step-mum (she's very frank, anyway, and said she was blushing as she typed) but really quite offensive when a young team member said something similar to me a few weeks ago.

Double standards, 'cos I like my step-mum and she has the experience from two children, but the girl at work, who has no kids, had already wound me up by telling me how big I was, asking if I was having twins, etc, etc, etc. She should have been more polite to the boss

Wouldn't like to be told that by a man, at all, apart from DP. Perhaps.

mummy2t · 29/09/2009 20:27

oh, she weighed 7lb 15oz! xxxxxxxxxx

Minshu · 29/09/2009 20:29

Oh my word, mummy2t!!! Congratulations and welcome to Isabelle. Well done, you!! So glad that everything is OK.

Just5minspeace · 29/09/2009 20:53

Congratulations to everyone who has had their bundles - am still here and waiting...

Wow well done mummy2t

Ladyem · 30/09/2009 09:06

Wow mummy2t! What a fantastic birth story! Congratulations and welcome to Isabelle!

Minshu · 30/09/2009 09:42

StayFrosty - I know exactly what you mean But there are still 14 hours left of the month (hollow laugh). You're going in tomorrow, aren't you? The end is in sight Hope all goes well.

Hope you are not waiting too long, either, J5MP. You coping alright?

When I was crampy on Monday, I really thought that there was a chance I wouldn't have to be induced, but back to square one now - was handling being overdue OK until then. Seeing obstetrician tomorrow and would expect to be booked in early next week.

nitnat84 · 30/09/2009 09:53

Hello all,
Birth announcement: Baby Isabelle Mary born Saturday 26th-9.41am- 8lb8- Absolutely beautiful.
Very long labour ending in forceps delivery and stitches!!! Baby feeding well, v.happy
Wish you all well and congrats to everyone who has had their little ones since I last logged on.

Minshu · 30/09/2009 10:10

Congratulations, nitnat!! Welcome Isabelle! Hope you are recovering alright.

StealthPolarBear · 30/09/2009 10:42

Congratulations mummy2t and nitnat

Minshu, ikwym and the way I've put it makes him sound a bit creepy, but he's the least offensive / creepy guy ever, I can only put it down to sudden brain freeze - maybe he's pregnant

mrswee · 30/09/2009 11:11

Congratulations to all the new mums and babies... well done for getting them out last min still in september

It's a full moon this Sunday evening so maybe that will get any over due end of September babies moving... here's hoping!!

Thanks for all your SPD tips and sympathies! Good to hear experience of it not causing problems in labour.

I am hoping to be able to use the birthing pool when I finally arrive at the hospital, supposed to be good for SPD and supporting good positions.. but there are only two pools at the hospital and you only get to use it if it's free and you have absolutly no complications.. so I'm not setting my heart on it!

Good to be reassured about my BP too, it's just been so consistantly healthy over my pregnancy even though my BMI is highish, so it freaked me out when it changed.
Sorry I've been quiet and didn't get back to you earlier! no exciting reason why unfortunetly!!

I can't complain yet, I'm only 40+1! I feel almost a fraud for being in the September thread at all!
I am so tired today, have just been too restless to sleep and haven't even managed to catch up on a snooze this morning as my head is full of thoughts of labor and a new baby... it really is getting real now!

sending labor vibes to all you late mummies! xx

Thusnelda · 30/09/2009 12:02

Congratulations on all the latest babies!

mummy2t - glad everything went well with your very sudden homebirth!

mrswee, if your baby was due in September than you belong to the due in September club, no matter whether he or she is born in July or October! Hope you won't have to wait too long though.
