Hello everyone...

Had a positive test this morning, suspect due on 3rd June. Gulp! Very surprised as DD is only 9 months and it took me 2 years to conceive the first time around.

Anyone here to join teh long wait?

Hi Everyone, 11 weeks today and still sick sick sick.Developing a worrying 2 crunchie a day habit! Oh and think I just felt baby move for the 1st time! I am sure it is possible at this stage in subsequent pregnancies, think I remember it with my 3rd baby, and it is the funniest thing! Might go to bed now as have eaten 2 trifles, craving of the day , and want to get to sleep before I start to feel sick again! I cannot keep eating as much as I am for the duration or I will be very fat indeed.

Loving madamefreckle's title suggestion btw!

Hope you are all ok xxxx

Saucepan - where are you based? Burnt Sugar (the posh fudge company) have started selling chocolate-covered honeycomb lumps - they're very lovely with decent quality milk chocolate and I find one of them hits the crunchie-spot without needing a whole bar....plus its easier to stop at just one because they are individual chunks! They sell them in Borough Market and online I think - if you'd like some and can't find them I'll happily buy some for you and stick them in the post

Off to bed - dh grumbling about my MN habit (and we were up with sick dd all night last night so absolutely shattered....)

It's panicking me that everyone is talking about not showing til much later on first PG. I am 8.5 weeks, no babies before, and my trousers are already tight! I've not put any weight on but have a definite rounded pot belly already! I've not even been eating THAT much either. Uh oh, I don't know how I'd manage with twins! x

Oh and I'm a size 10/12 normally and quite slim! Argh!

CantSleepWontSleep · 19/11/2009 08:40

Ah well that's your problem readysetgo - if you will go and be slim to start with then you're bound to notice a bit sooner. If you're a fatty then even at 7 months some people don't realise that you're pregnant .

I saw my friend yesterday (who's a doctor and has had 3 kids) and she said there is no way I'm 12 weeks, I look at least 16 weeks

She's right. Am seriously wondering if I've got my dates all wrong. Is possible as I was on the pill when I got pregnant. Oh gawd, well I suppose I'll find out for sure on wednesday

readysetgo - I'm the same size as you, and normally (well, the previous 2) don't 'show' until around 20 weeks. In fact last time I didn't tell anyone at work until 24 weeks and only one person noticed at around 22 weeks and she thought I was only just pregnant! Whereas this time around, I have a distinct pot-belly thing going on and have already packed away all of my size 10 clothes because very little fits, and anything that does probably wont very soon, but I have only put on 1.5 lbs according to my bathroom scales....don't worry about it

I ordered some baxter skinny jeans from topshop.com last night as I refuse to spend the next 8 months without my skinnies!!!

I have gained 2 pounds but I am eating like a horse, I am just starving all of the time!

All of my clothes are starting to feel tighter but I'm hoping to make them last a bit longer.... after Christmas maybe..!!

Hey everyone. Am feeling sorry for myself today as got food poisoning. got sick twice yesterday so hoping that all is ok. Am panicking a bit wondering about how this is affecting baby - am 11 weeks pg

Also having the Pot-belly issue (was relatively slim pre pregnancy). My regular size clothes are snug (this is my 2nd) and starting to give me away and i'm only 8.5 weeks. Oddly enough i've lost a few pounds in weigh but also lost my waist. I've got a few pairs of trousers in the next size up (from before I was pregnant last time) but these are far too big and really hanging off me. Is anyone else having an inbetween size clothes issue?

Oo you have reminded me of another question I have! I am going to sound seriously stupid now - when you order maternity gear, do you get your old size as it has allowance for a bump or do you get the size you are with bump? Does that make sense? I really can't get my head around it!

I might get some maternity jeans for crimbo dinner! I love food and Christmas roast is my absolute fave!

Filly It's my skinny jeans that have failed me too! I'm going shopping this weekend. My youngest sister works in Debenhams and they have the 25% discount, plus she gets a further discount too! Ching ching!

sobloodystupid Poor you, I am pretty clueless on whats bad and good whilst pregnant, but my friend had a few tummy bugs courtesy of her DD when she was pregnant and all was OK! Keep hydrated though x

Report
gizmo · 19/11/2009 11:07

Readysetgo, get your old size, and preferably go somewhere where you can try it on, for some reason a lot of maternity companys seem to size up anyway. The first maternity thing I ever bought was a dress (from MamanJoJoBebe) and I sized up to a 12/14 I think (normally 10-12).

Big (literally) mistake. If they'd sent larch poles as well I could have stuck it in the garden as teepee.

If you're slim anyway, you can probably get to 6/7 months purely buying loose fitting/stretchy normal tops, some sexy frocks/tunics and just a few pairs of softwaisted jeans/trousers/skirts.

I've got some redherring skinny jeans in size 12 which I'm happy to forward on as there is NO chance I will get in to them this time around if anyone wants them. I'm in Southampton, but happy to post them.

A bit of a rant to follow...

Ok...tell me if I'm being unreasonable to be really cross with my MIL for saying yesterday ... "oooh I've had a tarot reading done, and found out all about the baby." So when I asked her about what sex she looked all smug and said "I'm not going to tell you'
Ah.. what is that all about. Who's baby is this anyway!!
So I have absolutely forbidden DP to tell her gender after 20 week scan. A tad petty perhaps, and this is probably hormonal as I'm not even a particular believer in tarot cards

I just remember her saying when she found out DS1 was a boy, oh I'm so glad. It's so much nicer for the man if the first is a boy, even though she knew I really wanted a little girl.

Also she will not stop singing DH's praises. Of course he's bloody marvelous - I chose him above all other men, he's bound to be marvelous but I really DON'T need to hear it all the time. And she never said a word to me about doing the housework and the cooking for the past 8 years. He's only being doing it for the last two months. Arrgh!
Sorry rant over now.

sobloodystupid hope you are not feeling too poorly with food poisoning.

I am normally pretty slim and needed maternity clothes at around 10 weeks last time (first pregnancy). I'm a size 8 generally and it was pointless buying things that were just a bit bigger than usual as they didn't fit properly and were just uncomfortable. Real maternity clothes worked much better. And I had the most enormous bump. People were asking me when I was due (in the clear expectation that I was going to say 'tomorrow') when I had three months left to go. This time, I'm only 9 and a bit weeks and have been in maternity trousers for a while. I have a definite bump.

Who else will be needing to get a double buggy, and have you started looking at them yet? I liked the look of the icandy peach or pear, but went for a look at them today, and I don't think that ds will fit in the bigger of the seats by the time this one arrives, and he'll only be 20 months! He fills it now at 13 months! Tis a lovely pushchair otherwise though, and perfect for whoever gets the thread's twins!

Is everyone else on here skinny? I might have to sulk if you are.

RnB · 19/11/2009 13:35

ELM - I would be massively grateful for the skinny jeans, if no one else needs them

If that's ok I'll cover the postage and packaging through paypal?

Cantsleep is that a side by side or back/front buggy? When I had my first two boys (14.5months apart) I had a side by side and I couldn't get into loads of shop doorways But when I tried a back/front I could hardly maneuver it!

Report
Horton · 19/11/2009 13:37

Sorry. If it helps at all, I'm not skinny in any kind of groomed or svelte way, just skinny and scruffy.

I am hoping to get away without a double buggy as DD will be 3 and nine months when the new baby arrives.

Literally everyone I know who does have a double buggy for an older toddler and a baby seems to have a Phil and Ted.

This is my first pregnancy and I noticed a definate pot belly/bump a couple of weeks ago (at about 10 weeks) am a size 10 normally. My jeans actually all still fit as it seems to be higher than the waist bands but they can dig in uncomfortably when sitting. Now living in one pair of cords from primark which are so comfy. Also leggings/tights and dresses (altho I had previously vowed never to wear leggings - they are so comfy tho).

Anyway cant wait to have a massive bump and wear proper maternity clothes.

Hope scared of everything is ok

I'll def need a double of some description as there will be an 18 month age gap when the new bubs is born. Fingers crossed i'm not the token twin carrier otherwise I have no idea what I will do re getting about with 3 under 2. Haven't really had a chance to look at what's out there yet.

I'm not skinney either just kind of small. I'm short (5ft 2in) and about a size 10.

wondering whether to get a second bar of choc to munch on. Makes work so much more enjoyable

Report
CantSleepWontSleep · 19/11/2009 13:50

It's a back/front RnB. But very compact (peach moreso than pear).
The fact that everyone has a Phil & Teds is precisely why I don't want one! Plus I think the baby sits too low to the ground (esp for going off road).

Have a bar of choc for me herewegrow. I can't have any as ds is allergic to milk.

Report
herewegrow · 19/11/2009 13:59

Oh CantSleep sorry to hear your DS is allergic to milk. You can have choc (dairy free) I know it doesn't sounds very nice but can highly recommend booja booja chocolate

S'ok - I have a penchant for Waitrose dark choc with amaretti, which is dairy free. I did have some booja booja chocs (I think) last Christmas, but dairy free milk choc seems to be universally vile.

That is the bars of choc are vile, not the booja chocolates.

I agree with gizmo - best to try things on, but otherwise you're fairly safe buying your 'normal' size. Jojomaman seem to come up particularly large, as do Formes but Mamas&Papas seems more in line with normal sizing.

I did find that a reasonable number of my normal tops, esp the longer tunic ones, lasted me right through my previous 2 pregnancies, although I was sick of the sight of them by the end! The biggest challenge is finding maternity clothes you actually want to wear (imo this is easier said than done )

herewegrow - I know exactly what you mean...the size 10 stuff is getting a bit tight and the size 12 stuff just looks silly. The worst bit is knowing that in 10 months from now I will be overjoyed at the remote possibility of one day squeezing back into the 12s again - and that it will be a good 18 months from now before my wardrobe remotely resembles the state it was in until this week ( yes, yes, I know, this is entirely vacuous and self-indulgent complaining and I will of course be focussing on trying to produce a happy, healthy baby - there's just a tiny weeny little bit of me that winces at the thought of having to lose all that weight again.....)
