Hello everyone...

Had a positive test this morning, suspect due on 3rd June. Gulp! Very surprised as DD is only 9 months and it took me 2 years to conceive the first time around.

Anyone here to join teh long wait?

fillybuster Although it's my first pregnancy I do know what you mean. Two years ago I was a size 16 and have gradually gotten down to a 10 on a good day. Now I will have to do it all again!

Has anyone found that along with wanting to cry at the smallest thing, they are suddenly really happy?! I only cry at TV etc, not a manic depressive but my moods are swinging from chandeliers at the moment. I'm quite enjoying it!!

Depends how you feel about second hand i suppose, but with last pg,i bought a maternity bundle off ebay,it was about £45 but had couple pairs jeans, smart trousers, about 8 tops, cardi etc, loads actually, then after,i put them back on and resold them so i'll probably do the same again, then just buy a few 'special' items. i'd love some maternity Seven jeans as in every comparison they seem to come out on top, really expensive though, could resell though

Don't worry Can'tSleep, I'm a fatty too. Had the talk from the midwife about my BMI on tuesday. She didn't seem to hear me when I said I was pleased that it was lower than when I got pg with DD and that I only put on 10lbs during my last pregnancy so was hoping it wouldn't be a problem this time either.

I also had a maternity bundle off ebay last time, and just topped up with a few other bits as i got bored. Must get it all down from the loft and see what I've got. I'm currently in my pre-DD clothes, which are fitting fine, but no longer fit into my post-DD clothes.

I've been thinking about double buggies too. Was wondering whether I'd be able to get away with just having a sling for the baby and keeping DD in her current buggy. Not sure if this is a bit unrealistic though, what do you think?

LittleRobbo - Manuka honey, particularly with a "UMF" of 10+, has effective anti-viral and anti-bacterial properties. It costs a bomb though and I have no idea quite how effective it is. So far, I am trusting the evidence that i've stayed well (touch wood) despite ds being plagued by cold upon cold and half the children in my class suffering from something or other. Interesting what the gmtv doc said though.

Had my scan today and everything seemed fine! Little freckle (just the one - phew!)is nearly 6 cm and they said my EDD is now the 1st June, but i won't change it on the list as i think my calculation is more accurate as i know exactly when i ovulated as i had my typical ovulation pain.

DP did not accompany me as DS is not well and so he stayed at home with him. Feel pretty disconected. You're right, GibberingGinger, it may have helped.

HI everyone and congratulations. I hope you don't mind but I've added myself to the list (on June 1st). I was on the May thread for a while but seem to have dropped off it when it was updated. Anyhow, had my scan on Tuesday, all ok except waiting for the blood test results to back up the nuchal fold screening. So am feeling a little more like this might happen. All gone fine so far, with one blip only, Friday 13th came a day early last Thursday, when I ended up in hospital with acute urinary retention. It was definitely up there with labour in my top ten zero-fun things to put your body through. Thankfully back to normal now and I definitely won't sit too long in a meeting without going for a pee again - ever.

Hello can I join! Due 1st June. Have been lurking waiting to post.

Been a bit unsure about posting as had a torn placenta which caused (sometimes very heavy) bleeding for a month or so, but there's been no bleeding for almost 3 weeks and several(!) scans showed a lovely strong heartbeat. That on top of the fact that now I'm 12 weeks means I dare to be hopeful!

This will be no.3 for us and I'm 35.

Hi and Welcome poguemahome and whenwillisleepagain. Nice to see our list getting longer again.

Don't worry cantsleepwontsleep, I'm a fatty too. I was about 10 stone before my first pregnancy but put on 5 stone and have only lost 3.5 of that. 3 of which was during labour so not done too well in loosing the rest in the last 2 years! So any potential bump is well shielded by gut.

i haven't posted for a while as i felt there was something wrong with this pregnancy - i was right i've just been told i have had a MMC baby died at 6 weeks just days after we saw the heartbeat. booked into have erpc in 10 days if it hasn't passed naturally before then. i have taken myself off the list
i know i shouldn't blame myself but it is so hard not to. i'm just so thankful that i have my lovely husband and 2 wonderful children to support me.

i hope everyone else is doing well, excited about their scans and feeling less sick now. ( i think thats the worst bit for me i felt so so sick still )

cheekymonkey,

I am so sorry for your loss. Is there a reason that you blame yourself? Take time to heal.

Report
gizmo · 20/11/2009 13:51

Cheekymonkey, I'm so sorry. And how utterly grim to still be feeling sick as well. It's just horrid to have your worst fears confirmed so I do wish you some peace and a chance to rebuild soon.

Hello PogueMahone (fab name, btw) and whenwilIsleep...goodness it's getting crowded around the start of June, isn't it?

I have done a potentially silly thing. My dating scan is at 8.45am on Friday 4th December. Without remembering that, I have accepted an invitation to chair a session at a conference at 12.00 on the same day. Which will be fine, timing wise - they're both in Cambridge - but I'm not sure what I'm going to do if the dating scan confirms bad news. OK, maybe this is unduely pessimistic of me because the odds are everything is fine, but I'm feeling a bit vulnerable about it.

Hey ho, not much I can do about it now: I'm committed to both. I shall just have to keep my fingers crossed.

Very sorry cheekymonkey. Been there and it sucks.

Welcome to the newcomers .

It's weird being due right at the end of a thread you know - I was due on 2nd with dd and 1st with ds, so I'm used to being one of the furthest on, and now I find myself a whole 4 weeks behind some of you! The wait for my scan (10th) is going to drag once the big rush begins!

Oh so sorry Cheekymonkey, hope you're being well looked after. Try and be kind to yourself

I've got my first shift back at work tonight after mat leave for dd. Am feeling very nervous about it and i'm sure dd knows something is happenning as she's been grumpy all day. Hope she'll sleep well tonight for her daddy.

Cheekymonkey - I'm so sorry to hear your news; please be gentle with yourself and don't hold yourself responsible.

Welcome new people Early June is looking busy!

LittleRobbo - I also bought most of my maternity clothes on ebay for both my pregnancies, although I held onto everything (mainly cos I'm utterly useless at ever putting anything up for sale!)...I got some brilliant items for very little (99p for skirts plus postage etc) which gave me a fairly extensive wardrobe without a massive investment. In fact, I've already started trawling for the perfect denim skirt...

Madamefreckle - so glad the scan went well...sorry you had to go on your own. But if it isn't you having the twins, then who is?!

Gizmo - don't worry about the double booking...as you say, there is not reason to be worried and in a worse case scenario could you either get someone to cover for you at short notice or do you think 'professional gizmo' would just kick in and get you through it regardless?

We were given a phil&ted second hand when we had dd - ds was 2.5 at the time. tbh, we haven't used it much, only for walks over about 2 miles. Most of the time I either get ds to walk, or these days he will ride his scooter or his bike instead (scooter is best as I can balance it over the buggy when he gets bored). But dd is 22 months and still not walking (at all, although we know she can), so I suspect we're going to be using it an awful lot more when the next one arrives unless she cracks the walking thing fairly soon....[hopeful emoticon]

Is anyone else going to the gym and excercising as normal or are you being more sedate? I'm trying to keep going (despite low energy levels) and just using lower weights in classes...I'm assuming that because I've been exercising fairly regularly for the past 2 years its ok to carry on doing the same thing, but to be honest I don't really know as I wasn't in particularly good shape before the previous dcs!! Anyone able to advise?

so sorry cheekymonkey hope your 2 dc's and dh give you lots of comfort.

welcome newcomers, you'll find this a really friendly thread

Report
gizmo · 20/11/2009 16:36

Thanks Filly. I think you're probably right - 'professional-Gizmo-woman' might just have to step in. I wonder if I should have some sort of costume? Maybe with a cape?

I think you'll be fine in your classes, provided a) you don't exercise to total breathlessness and/or really high temperature and b) you keep an eye on what your body is saying re aches and pains. My ligaments are definitely starting to soften up now (as periodic stabbing coccyx pains remind me) so reducing weights sounds sensible. IIRC, I was running 2/3 times a week until about 24 weeks with DS2, but I'm really struggling with energy and nausea this time around so I'm already down to 3x a week and maybe a yoga session.

On the clothes front, agree with all those advocating ebay, particularly once you've had a chance to work out different labels' sizing policy. There are some things (Isabella Olivier springs to mind) which are still £££ there but if you buy bundles you can often get around the sizing problem because the ebayer selling them will have done homework on what fits and what doesn't.

Inspired by LittleRobbo I headed off to investigate the M&S £10 deal on my way home from work....one of their fridges was leaking and I stepped in some water and went flying right across the floor, landing hard against another fridge. Am ok, but feeling quite shaken and bruised...they were asking if I wanted first aid/to sit down etc and all I was worrying about was not being late home for the dcs, so ran off. Now wondering whether I shouldn't have complained properly as the soreness kicks in?

Hope everyone has good weekends...

So sorry cheekymonkey, how awful for you, I hope you are being well looked after.

Its great everyone is getting scan dates through, we're finally getting/got to the end of the first trimester! So am I the only one who hasn't got a scan date at 10+5??. I think with my first pregnancy I only got 2 days notice which was a nightmare to organise time off work at such short notice for DH and I who work at same company without anyone getting suspicious. Is it only my hospital that does this, or are other's hospitals equally unorganised? I might phone mid next week and see if I can chivvy them along
