lilacpink I agree about having a baby into 50s and 60s, although my gp said women are healthier/still fertile into 50s now. Anyway, I was 34 with DD and am 38 now and will be 39 when lo due. Lynne I have had ongoing probs since then as had a dvt which has caused some damage to veins in my legs. Obviously, DD was completely worth it, I feel doing it once more is as much as I can risk. I can't imagine waiting until you are even older, for instance, how bad is your Downs risk at 72!!!! FWIW I was completely healthy before pg.

sunshinejanuary I am still being sick at 14wks and was still sick until 16wks last time. You definitely have my sympathy.

anniemac my nuchal fold was 2.5mm, I am having the triple test bloods later today, so will wait for (hopefully) letter rather than phone call. Good luck with your 20wk scan.

quirky i think a 72 year olds woman risk of downs is smaller than that of a 39 year old since they use donated eggs from youn women. i watched the show last night and it got my back up to be honest. it is outrageous that women that old think that it is their right to have kids at that age when clearly mother nature says no. IVF should be for women who are still young but for whatever reason be it polysistic ovaries need assistance in pregnancy. sorry to offend if there are any 70 years old on this thread! i must admit that i would be livid if my eggs which i donated went into the body of an elderly woman! it was sad though when that poor woman died after having her twins two years later. her life was on hold god love her and at the opportunity of happiness it was shortlived! rant over! already ranted about it on my status on facebook!

anyway dp was back yesterday and had me in tears so i have decided that it is the end once the wedding is over as come to the conclusion i am being emotionally and mentally abused and after this trauma i really dont think i will be with another man i have been that traumatised after last night. i cried all night (which is not like me so hormones could be making it worse). and i know i will cry up until the wedding!

watching Finding Nemo for the first time today as it is viewed about twice a day!

Bethoo - hugs to you and lots of strength....

quirkychick · 24/07/2009 13:43

bethoo big hugs here too, you poor thing. However painful it is sometimes it is better to have made a positive decision about what you want. Also, it's a good idea to give yourself time to heal after a traumatic breakup whether you have another relationship in the future or not. Try to surround yourself with people who are supportive and kind to help you through.

PS I was joking about Downs risk in a 72yr old . I can't help but think what pregnancy would do to you at that age, it must be a real strain especially if you have any complications.

lynneevans51 · 24/07/2009 16:05

Lordy lordy lordy - have managed to pretty much bawl my way through Mamma Mia this afternoon. The bit where the mother is sad about losing her daughter to a man, when the mum falls in love again, when the daughter is torn up about which dad is hers, every single bit basically. Had a playfight with my DD, who then started to strop and cry because I accidentally hurt her foot - so I cried with her because she hurt mine too. Goodness grief, this hormonal sh*t is ridiculous.

mowmi · 24/07/2009 16:59

Hello Anniemac - glad all is going well. I found out yesterday that my risk of downs was actually 1 in 2 before I had the cvs done (came back fine) I thought it was 1 in 9. They were hugging me and slapping my back yesterday and I didn't know why until they told me! tbh I'm so glad I didn't know. We had a full cardiac scan done yesterday and all was good - consultant said it was highly unlikely that anything would turn up at 20 weeks that wasn't picked up yesterday.
Stressful this pregnancy lark isn't it?!

Hello everyone else - massive hug to bethoo

Hi mowmi we are due date buddies! I am now waiting my results as had my triple test bloods today, I guess I'll hear next week. Will relax over weekend as won't hear till bloods at least reach lab. You must be so relieved!

totalmisfit whereabouts in Norfolk are you?

mowmi · 24/07/2009 19:04

Hi Quirkychick, tbh my blood ran cold when they told me about the 1 in 2 - I was wondering why they were making such a fuss - they kept saying your so lucky, you were the luck 1!
Fingers crossed for next week - try not to stress, believe me I've done enough of that for everyone! x

quirkychick · 24/07/2009 20:25

Thanks mowmi . I stopped worrying about it earlier this week as was busy with dd in hospital and it was all a bit hairy at one point. I was strangely more worried today about the blood test (although I don't have a prob with blood tests/needles) as I suppose it signified knowing more. Felt calm once I had posted it to lab. Strange pregnant woman that I am! I just feel I need to get next week over with - I'm sure you understand only too well.

lynneevans51 · 24/07/2009 22:13

Mowmi - that is incredible news, v v v lucky indeed. Thanks for sharing such good upbeat news with us all, most of us needed that today after feeling sorry for ourselves with this strange pg lark!!

sockmonkey · 25/07/2009 07:46

Mowmi so pleased for you.
Bethoo sending you strength up to the wedding & beyond.

Anyone want a 3 year old boy? He's very cute and loving - slightly bonkers in a funny way. Toilet trained does not sleep

somewhathorrified · 25/07/2009 10:38

Anyone else getting a short scraping sensation (almost painful) that moves around the bump over several hours, is this bub moving or stomach stretching?

quirkychick · 25/07/2009 11:29

somewhathorrified I have had this too, am 14wks. I think it's stretching, can't remember if it happened last time, but it's definitely painful. Don't know if c-section scar has anything to do with it either.

lynneevans51 · 25/07/2009 15:41

I just passed out twice whilst having an Indian head massage!!! I wonder what other joys are going to join me for this pg?

jardins · 25/07/2009 16:57

Lynneevans51 I know what you mean! I went to a wonderful osteo here in my new city due to my having a very tense back and terrible headaches. He had me standing whilst working on my back and as he asked me questions I found myself breaking out in a sweat and going dizzy. I had to ask if I could lie down right there and then. He didn't seem fazed at all, but I was a little. Anyway my back and head are much better now.

singalongamumum · 25/07/2009 19:02

Wow, fainting too! How are you feeling now, Lynne? I am still feeling lacklustre, though a little better since DP went to talk to my neighbour who had the CHEEK to ask for my help!!! Anyway I probably will help her just to keep the peace but that woman has seriously got a nerve... or, as DP says, a very loose grip on reality!

Welcome to newbies- lovely to see the list getting EVEN longer.

Mowmi- what a rollercoaster! So pleased it all turned out well.

lynneevans51 · 26/07/2009 10:29

*Singalongamum" - thanks, feeling v headachy this morning! Depression lifting a little this weekend, this its because I've been doing things - bit of a catch 22 because getting v bored, then the hormones kick in so get depressed, then can't actually be bothered to do anything at all! I used to faint a lot with both previous pregnancies, usually when sitting on tube or train (yes, sitting, not standing) but this time was in response to pressure points being squeezed above eyebrows! Oh well, off to do the ironing and Sunday roast...

jardins · 26/07/2009 16:38

Good evening to all! I'm off for my triple bloods tomorrow. Can somebody please tell me (foolish question follows, so please don't laugh) if I can eat beforehand? Thank you (for not laughing!).

Mowmi I'm so happy for you. I can't imagine how you must have felt....

quirkychick · 26/07/2009 16:49

jardins have posted on "4 wks thread..." too. You can eat no prob. Good luck.

lilacpink · 26/07/2009 22:23

Hi All

Congrats for the positive tests and good luck for those coming up.

I heard my baby's heartbeat a few days ago (~16wks). Also had it confirmed that I am feeling movements as I thought the baby was kicking and the midwife picked it up along with heartbeat. I didn't feel anything until ~17 wks with DD, but now feel like I have a gerbil, rather than a tiny mouse, in me.

I agree - the hormones can be stressful! I feel like crying at least once a day, I find sad dreams, watching news or sad real-life stories tend to push me over to actually cry. I have v. few 'waves' of nausea now, but can be spontaneously sick in the morning and have to run to find anything to be sick in.

Bethoo have you thought about councelling? I s there any chance it could work out, or perhaps to make sure that you part on ok terms for the sake of the baby?
