Hello!
I feel like I can finally join you (I've been nervously lurking due to previous mmc). I had my scan this morning and all went well. I recognise a lot of familiar names from the conception and 4 weeks threads.

to everyone.

verytiredmummy · 23/07/2009 09:13

Hi all

Very pleased to hear you're all doing well and even more pleased to hear you've all got bumps! I'm definitely showing now (although not enough to get a seat on the tube, natch).

I'm 14+1 now and my sickness has pretty much gone. Have the odd day (like yesterday) when I feel terrible but it's not nearly as bad as it was. Acne, sadly, is still here.

Does anyone else have really achy legs? Mine feel so strange - kind of like when you run up some stairs. I didn't get this last time and can't find anything about it in my pregnancy books. Very odd.

Crumpette, my work said I could change my hours to avoid rush hour (they didn't demand it like yours!) but I already work 8.30am-4.30pm and frankly there is no quiet time on the tube so I'm not going to bother.

Have a great day all. x

dal21 · 23/07/2009 09:46

Grrr. have been trying to post update on swine flu (as have spoken to my scientist friend) and it is not posting!!!

dal21 · 23/07/2009 09:48

Hmmm, but that one did. Will try again.
Re Swine flu vaccination - she said that she personally would have the vaccination - but equally not to be in a massive rush to get it, wait about a week after it comes out. The methodology behind the production of this jab is similar to the annual seasonal flu jab - so the risks should not be any greater, but equally give it a little time - just wait and see. She said it was a very personal choice.
She also said that there is a chance that if you have had flu vaccinations in previous years, it can potentially boost your immunity to swine flu. The seasonal flu jab protects against a seasonal type A H1N1 virus, and there are some who think that may give a better immune response to the swine flu strain. Oh who knows! I said I would pass on her thoughts, HTH.

dal21 · 23/07/2009 09:50

Ok then, for some reason, mumsnet does not like posts from me longer than the box size.

Hope everyone is well, havent had a chance to catch up on all posts from old thread or this one!

Welcome to the newcomers! Catch up later.

somewhathorrified · 23/07/2009 09:57

anyone else wondering about the logic of going to your dr.s surgery to see you MW and sitting in a small room with lots of sick people? Just makes me laugh that the gov say stay away from crowds then you have to expose yourself at the one place most likely to have walking 'infected'!

quirkychick · 23/07/2009 11:13

Thanks for that dal21, the nurses in children's dept at hospital definitely did not seem that concerned, although A&E told us not to come as they were full of people with swine flu. I guess that's why you are supposed to phone rather than come to surgery etc. But if people don't have any response, have complications or are high risk then of course they are going to come in. It's all a bit of a mess with very mixed messages.

Hi all, Im back after going to the Feb 09 thread. My due date is now the 29th of January. Anyone else still suffering with morning sickness after 12 weeks? Its awful.

FlightofFancy · 23/07/2009 13:07

Hi all,
I'm another one with some sort of lurgy at the moment - sore throat and sniffly nose. However, am convinced it's not flu as passed my usual test of 'can I get showered and dressed without having a sit down in between' - when I've had flu before it was very much 'put pants on, rest, try for trousers, give up and rest some more...' would also not only bend down for the £50 note but probably crawl along the pavement to check they hadn't dropped anything else! However, there's still a small part of me that's worried - primarily because I want to read more evidence on how many pregnant people have had swine flu and been OK - I like to read the facts and make up my own mind. Good to hear it could be tonsils instead...

On the plus side, my OH reckons he can see a small bump in the evenings! Personally am still feeling like I just ate all the pies, but good that it's turning in to something. Reckon I can go another couple of weeks before I fess up to work though.

bethoo · 23/07/2009 13:20

have made some progress on the dp front. i have told him that though i missed him and do love him it has made me realise that i can go on wthout him and that this will be the final chance, the minute he is cruel or spiteful in his remarks and he will be gone and there will be no turning back for me. it is that easy for me, it is just a shame as i was really hoping that this was the one. but it could still be if he cleans up his act. sadly i know that he cant change and may revert but the minute he does i am gone. of course it will not be until after my sisters wedding as it is over 300 miles away and no way am i getitn a train with two kiddies and nowhere to put my dogs!
saw midwife and she said that is is prob good i get mild dose of swine flu now rather than later when it will be more virulent. she said that it will defo be a pandemic as apparantly the last was in the 60s or something so we are 'due' one! os it seems that every two decades there is a pandemic of some sort!
just rang hospital and got my scan booked for 19 aug with radiology as it is fully booked at o&g, just hope they can still tell me the gender! had triple test bloods taken today and results from STI are all negative so that is good though did not think it would be otherwise but new partner and all, good just to check.
did yioiu know that between 19 and 20 weeks it is best time to spot cardiacc abnormalities and between 20 and 21 to spot limb deformities so that is why they prefer to do it at 20 weeks so can see both. and here, dont know if it where you go but they will not scan after 22 weeks as hard to spot abnormalitites so good job i booked today as was gong to leave it til last minute!hope everyone else is fine and i see we have another newbie laurawantsababy, hi. i felt sick today on the bus home and i am 16 weeks 5 days so jsut shows everyone is different!

FifiForgot · 23/07/2009 13:34

Afternoon all

Crumpette I'm sorry work are being so awful. I've been off on leave for the last 2 weeks and am dreading going back. My boss can be a total nightmare and I don't have the temper to deal with it anymore! Stick to your guns.

Bethoo I hope that things work out for you.

Well, I'm finally back from my scan. We got to the hospital at 8.40am this morning and I finally left at 11am! We ended up having 3 attempts to take the nuchal measurement with chocolate and coffee in between each go! We got there in the end and I now have a due date of 31 January, but is more likely to be 17 January-ish, once I've seen my consultant. I've updated the list accordingly.

Hi Bethoo glad you have made some progress with your dp and have sorted out how you feel. Lol about your sister's wedding. Interesting about the scan dates, I guess I am at 20wks exactly as mine was booked at 12wk scan as I am under the hospital antenatal clinic.

Welcome laurawantsababy.

singalongamumum · 23/07/2009 18:02

Well done to you, Bethoo... glad to see you have got your priorities straight re the wedding!

I am feeling so down and tired today, think I may be anaemic so have booked myself in for a blood test on Monday. I just can't seem to get any energy together and I keep feeling tearful. Also, my neighbour has begun some kind of weird argument with me (well, not so much an argument as she is actually ignoring me and just slagging me off behind my back) so i really hate being at home, not being the argumentative type an' all. Anyway, I'll be glad when it's the weekend and DP is around to help me ignore her. I was watching my DS eat his dinner today, feeling all overwhelmed and tearful and pretending not to be, when he patted me on the arm and said "come on, mummy, come on, eat food". God I love that boy!

Anyway, sorry to moan.

Big sympathy to everyone with cold/ flu. I know how hard that it is when you can't really take anyhting to feel better- anyone tried the swine flu inhaler thing yet?

alibobins · 23/07/2009 18:18

Been to docs today and got my first ever sinus infection and it hurts
Wouldn't give me antibiotics but gave me a steroid nose spray I really do feel rough.
He said to go back next week if no better.

quirkychick · 23/07/2009 18:38

alibobins you have my sympathy, I had a sinus infection at 8mths pg with dd - ouch. Think I only had a form of sinutab or sudafed. How is your dd?

Good luck with your blood test singalongamum.

sockmonkey · 23/07/2009 19:09

oh my goodness everyone seems to be having such a rubbish time of it. Makes me feel bad about moaning over meal making and washing up.

sazlocks · 23/07/2009 19:26

evening all and welcome to happybump and laurawantsababy
Sorry so many feeling rubbish. I am starting to feel human again which is nice as I don't tolerate being ill very well Although had a rough day at work as DS up chatting in the night, and then I was hungry , and then I needed another wee, and then he was still awake - you get the picture zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
Hard to keep up with everything that has gone on but
Bethoo hope you get to sort out things with your DP or without him if that's what you decide
fififorgot glad you scan went ok - in the end
singalongamumum - horrible to feel unsettled in your own home - hope that gets sorted out soon
As part of my work I have volunteered to man our swine flu control desk tomorrrow - partly selfishly so that I don't have to have any contact with members of the public and also so I can glean some useful info. If there is anything worth knowing then I will post it up.

Dd doing really well we will know more on wednesday wen we have a joint appointment with opthamologist(sp)and rhumotologist(sp) to find out if there has been any changes.

Off to have a warm bath and some steam treatment.

Finish work tomorrow for two while weeks so will hopefully start to bloom

lilacpink · 23/07/2009 22:04

Ok, this isn't about us and our bumps, but I thought it's interesting. I'm just watching world's oldest Mum, and 72 yr old wants a baby. Personally I thought I'd continue TTC for no.2 to mid-40s (I'll be around 33 when this one is born and this is my last one, but had probs last year that could have been v. long-term). I also know there are young 50s around, but 60+ just seems to be pushing every barrier going?

lynneevans51 · 24/07/2009 08:44

Singalongamum - I'm there with you! I am totally totally down this morning. Woke up in tears and just know its going to continue all day. Actually feel properly depressed and had this with my last baby as well - as that was a girl - wondering if that means this one will be too - also if I'll have a DH at the end of it!!!

Lilacpink - I turned 40 in November and was really concerned that I fell pg recently as I just feel too old for it all, starting all over again etc. I TTC for 4 years in my 20s so know the whole agony situation, but 50's, 60's and 70's - it is just WRONG!

Hope everyone else's day starts better than mine - boo hoo

Dizzyclarebear · 24/07/2009 09:06

I think everyone needs a hug this morning

singalongamumum · 24/07/2009 09:33

If I'm being honest, I think it's really irresponsible to get pregnant in 50s, but especially 60s and 70s- you're much more likely to leave an orphan at a young age, and that can't be fair. Militant bit over!

Sorry to hear you're feeling a rubbish too, Lynne- It does feel like this baby is a DD to me, so that may explain it. I asked my DP last night if it is terrible living with when I'm pregnant; he said "Not terrible. interesting. Certainly different. In a way, it's a bit exciting; I never know what I'm going to find when I get home." I did laugh!! Trust him to find the emotional rollercoaster mildly thrilling! I told him that's just because he's got no life anymore! I guess the good thing is, Lynne, that we do know it will end- we just have to sit it out and try to ignore ourselves as much as possible! Big hugs to you on this grey morning. x

sunshinejanuary · 24/07/2009 09:49

Morning blooming ladies!

Just a quick post to share the hilarity that is my experience of pregnancy. I can honestly say i did not expect it to be like this....

When i am standing or walking, at least once a day i get this weird pins and needles and numbness to the top of my left leg. When i saw the midwife on Monday they found the babies heartbeat right over on the left so i think the monkey likes it on that side. It is a weird feeling!

Last night i was feeling my usual sickness but went out for dinner with friends anyway as i havent seen them in ages. After the meal we all went back to the car park and just as everyone got in their cars i was sick. Amazingly, no one noticed so i just proceeded to get in my friends car and hoped i didnt smell of sick he he

oh the joys!

I am sorry to hear peope are not feeling great today. hugs all round. I am working from home today as the sickness is absolutely raging. Nearly 17 weeks so can only think that i will have this for the long haul.

lynneevans51 · 24/07/2009 10:18

Sunshinejanuary - my hat is truly off to you, to be so upbeat and apparently energetic when you are suffering so much with sickness. Not sure this is going to help, but I was sick from Day 1 right through inc childbirth with the last..... funny thing is I didn't feel ill or anything, just oops, going to be sick, was sick and then ok. This time the nausea is so bad (16 wks) that I just wish I could be puking every day.... LOL
