Hello all! Thought I would start this off as our existing thread is full!

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
bethoo · 11/06/2009 11:31

somewhathorrified how do you you think your cats will be when the baby arrives?

timmette · 11/06/2009 11:33

I live on the continent in the land of chocs and beer - don't want to say where in case any extended fam lurk on here and it's none of their business etc.

Biccy · 11/06/2009 11:47

Well, I've got something to make full time workers feel better: dd is potty trained for wees, but poo is a different story, and we're just having to let her do her own thing at the moment, as she was starting to hold on for days... so I just found her taking off her knickers full of lovely poo, and have had to clean her, her hands and feet, the floor, the knickers, the potty (used to carry said poo up to the loo)... this has not helped how my tummy is feeling. Right now, I'd much rather have been at work!

Biccy · 11/06/2009 11:50

And does anyone else at home just feel that all they do all day is move stuff? I realised that I've spent all morning just shifting stuff from one place to another - towels from floor to towel rail; dirty cups from upstairs to kitchen; dp's guitar etc from the hall to where it lives; dirty washing from the laundry basked to the washing machine; rubbish from inside bins to outside bin; duvets from heaps to made beds. Post from floor to table top... etc. It's just moving stuff!

timmette · 11/06/2009 11:54

Yes Biccy I don't work language problems - lol and spend all day moving things around - it feels never ending.
Have managed to potty train ds - but it was a marathon effort. MIL had one ds who would disappear and poop in various cupboards - not my dh but one of his brothers and others would frequently stand it. You are doing well - lol

skidoodle · 11/06/2009 14:03

Hi everyone

Hope londonlottie and sleepingalot are doing well at their scans this afternoon.

Good to hear I'm not alone in my ambivalent feelings. I seem to be dealing with them by using the power of total denial (with you there timmette), hence didn't even look at this thread yesterday as it barely even occurred to me

I'm feeling slightly better the last couple of days too, which is nice. The thought of having a new baby was overwhelming when I was so tired, which is silly because I won't be 9 weeks pregnant and dealing with a newborn.

LOL (kindly) @ quirkychick due on the 32nd of January I guess you thought we were numbering ourselves? Or perhaps you are due on 1st Feb but the ladies on the Feb thread are too mean and so you decided to try to sneak on here? Anyway, you are very welcome

Biccy I took a while to be toilet trained for poo myself. Didn't go around pooing in presses, but I'm sure it still wasn't that pleasant for my mother. LOL @ your moving things around. When I am at home DD wants to be up in my arms all the time, so I am very aware of all the moving of stuff that goes on. I won't be able to keep it up for that much longer.

anniemac was just wondering where you were. Sorry to hear you are feeling so rubbish. I can't believe they are leaving you so long with a bladder infection Roll on Monday when you can sort it all out.

Can anyone recommend a nice one of those pregnancy band things that you wear under your trousers that stop any gappiness between tops and pants. Do you guys know what I mean? I'm looking to buy one online, but not even sure what word to search for.

Sersi · 11/06/2009 14:04

Hi all,

Wow - 3 pages since I signed off last night.

timmette so glad your bloods went OK today.

marmitemonster - sorry about your tube / car troubles. Dh ended up walking half way round London trying to get home last night.

am keeping all crossed for sleepingalot & londonlottie with your scans today.

welcome to Liskey, Mowmi, quirkychick & susiey

and anniemac - do be careful with urine infections - I had one that turned into a kidney infection and was hospitalised for a week, was really really poorly and I wasn't pregnant at the time.

So - I went for my scan today and thank God everything seems to be OK. Have never felt so relieved in my life. They think the bleeding is probably cervical errosion or something non sinister. I saw the heartbeat and they even gave me a picture of my precious blob. I have been dated differently to the midwifes calculation though - not so far along, will be 8 weeks tomorrow like you iate so I must change my EDD on our list. At least now it isn't the same date as my eldest's birthday.

Thanks to all for your support and good wishes.

Biccy · 11/06/2009 14:08

Hi all
I bumped into a friend of mine this morning from my old antenatal group who had a little boy last week - I thought he was sooooo gorgeous! It was a relief to look at newborn and go all gooey. Finally felt a little bit excited.

skidoodle I think what you after is known as a waistband expander. I don't have a recommendation though, sorry. and thanks for letting me in on your toilet training secrets!

Biccy · 11/06/2009 14:09

sersi that is marvellous news. I am welling up at this end. Thanks for letting us know.

iateallthecreameggsyummy · 11/06/2009 14:10

congrats sersi youve seen your bubba!

I've just had a bath and decied im def going in for a scan tommorrow! I need to see bubs heartbeat or else i am going to go mad.
I will go in on my own for the scan though as dont want dh to take time of work and all my sisters have little ones to get up at that time of the day!

Of to work in a bit so wish me luck for tommorrow, i will come online when im all done. Byee

timmette · 11/06/2009 14:20

Great news sersi and good luck tomorrow iateallthecreameggsyummy

sazlocks · 11/06/2009 14:23

afternoon all
happy news sersi - congrats
hope other people having scans gone well today
Timmette glad bloods ok - I really struggle to have bloods taken and have identified one practice nurse at my practice who can do it straight off so I only ever get them done by her now - saves all the brusing and fafferama while other people try.
Some more tips for conquering the misnomer that is called MORNING sickness - someone recommended Whole Earth Cola to me - like a natural coke - I couldn't get it but got a similar thing - Pepsi Raw in the supermarket and it seems to help somewhat. Not ideal if you have lots of other drinks with caffeine in though. I am also getting through lots of cream crackers yum yum

Pepa · 11/06/2009 14:33

Sersi great news - so glad your bean is doing well!

Pepa · 11/06/2009 14:37

I gave in today and am wearing some under the belly maternity trousers - I had to buy some new ones because everything from my previous pregnancies was stretched to big to even stay up on me at the moment! I know its really too early to wear mat clothes but they are sooooo comfy!

skidoodle one kind of those bands are called Bella Bands, heres the website: www.ingridandisabel.com/bellaband.html

timmette · 11/06/2009 14:45

Pepa you are not alone I am also wearing under bump maternity trousers . Do you mind me asking how many weeks you are - I am almost 11.

Pepa · 11/06/2009 14:52

I'm somewhere between around 11 weeks.....sorry for being vague but my first ultrasound scan disagreed with my dates and put me a week back but the midwives said that clinic is notoriously unreliable so she is leaving me dates as they were until I am scanned again at a more reliable clinic next week - so for now I am 11 weeks !! Either way too early for mat pants !!

coffeeicecream · 11/06/2009 14:53

Just written a rant but didnt seem to register so maybe a good thing!

GREAT news Sersi

Sersi so glad to hear your news

Thanks all for the leads on those bands. I will get a-purchasing.

Pepa one of the lessons I learnt last time was that putting off maternity clothes is a mugs game.

First-timers: you feel and look much better when you're not trying to continue squeezing yourself into clothes that don't fit right as your shape changes. Embrace the belly!

Also as much as you will want to resist them, you will be so thankful for big knickers when you finally give in

Agreeskidoodle - just give in and be comfortable.

susiey · 11/06/2009 15:49

skidoodle I got my belly band from ebay it was much cheaper and managed to stay in non maternity clothes till the end of my pragnancy
they also sell them at topshop maternity online
also they are good for after you've had the baby and want to cover your tummy while breastfeeding should you want to

Biccy · 11/06/2009 16:31

coffeeicecream, am desperate to know what your rant was about?!

Great news londonlottie, hope you have a lovely time in Zurich.
