here we go...
Guess in the next one will be the one where we'll be waiting for the first kick! hooray it's the weekend! i haven't had any stretchy stomach feelings, maybe a quiet period pain rumble (!? is that what you mean?) well what a beautiful day i'm lying on sofa under a blanket, laptop on lap and sky baby channel on in background (i've just shed a few tears of happiness for a manchester mum who has just screamed her head off and given birth to a baby boy).

can't remember who asked - cads? re: measurement of c to r . i had one scan at 11+1 babe was 4.5 and another at 12+2 and it measured 6.0 cm.

have good sats jen

Cads- Think I am in a different time zone lol. I always seem to wake between 4.30 and 5am and can't drop back off. Alot easier just to get up. Ds2 wakes between 6 & 6.30 so I get about an hour of blissful peace and quiet while everyone else is asleep!

Good morning all!

Have got a pooey cold this morning and backache. Just been looking at prams/pushchairs in the toys r us catalogue, they all look so big! or spaceage! Think I might just get a stroller suitable from birth, I've got a good babycarrier so will use that alot I think. I think that's as far as thinking about getting babystuff will go at the mo - will wait for a few more months to pass first!

Chacha - my dp said re finding out sex 'er, if you want'! So I think we will too! But knowing our luck the baby will be in a difficult position and we'll have to wait anyway!

Work was horrible last night - really warm and stuffy - the sooner they ban smoking in public places the better!!! What with the onset of my cold it seemed a lot worse, there again tonight too!

Good luck with your test results HK, speak to you all later x x x

CADS · 27/05/2005 10:16

HK - Understand the having time to yourself thing perfectly. I do the same thing, but not before 6.30/7. Left ds in his cot, playing happily, until 8am, so I could have some time to myself and watch desperate housewives. Most days, I find myself counting the minutes till nap time or put him down a little earlier so I can be on my own. Horrible mommy.

Rodeo - We got a stroller (Mclaren Techno XP) which you can use from birth, for ds, and have never regretted it. He was in is from about 2 weeks. We going to stick with it this time too, and will get a buggy board for ds to use.

We still haven't changed our minds, and won't be finding out the sex. Doesn't stop me from trying to figure it out in other ways though.

Hi all,
Back from the hospital. Just have to wait until 3.30pm!
Bloody hell it's boiling out there!!!!!!

Bains · 27/05/2005 11:13

Hi Ladies....hope you dont mind if I join your chat group. I am due 11/11/2005 and its my first baby....got to 16 weeks but its been a a bit of a discovery as this is my first baby and I dont have many young mums to chat to.

I think I am nearly over the morning sickness although I am still have the tendency to gag occasionally . Anyway everything seems to be expanding but dont seem to be big enough to wear maternity clothes yet....hmmmm. I was just wondering if you girls had thought about how long you are taking off work for maternity....I have to start telling people at work and I am wondering how long people would recommend you take off work....?

Cheers

HellKat · 27/05/2005 11:25

Welcome Bains,
I too was a young mum with my first son (17 when I had him!).
This is a fab thread! All the girls are friendly and welcoming!

I really need some work at the moment as have just
discovered we are in a fair amount of debt, oviously,
its not going to be viable for me to go out to work as
with dp's shifts i will be paying most of wages out in
childcare, so am really looking for some work I can do
at home, I presumed there would be a fair few things I
could do with the internet(broadband) and a phoneline,
but am not having much luck,
does anyone know of any companys that allow you to
work from home?

thanks for your help

Bains · 27/05/2005 11:50

Thanks for the welcome Hellkat...I am not that young....what i would do to be 17 again! I am actually 30...but young at heart. I am sorry I haven't read the thread from the bottom...what happened at the hospital (I just noticed a good luck message from JenJam)....hope its nothing serious?

Busyalexmummy - I read about a site that helps people find flexible work....LINK IS: www.flexecutiveclient.co.uk/client/home.asp...not sure what kind of work you do but its worth a try. Good Luck!

JenJam · 27/05/2005 12:03

Bains, welcome to the nov board. i've been a size 10 and a size 16...and i'm now in my 'big' clothes, maternity vests and my ordinary/everyday tops over the top of the vests. I'm not yet in maternity bottoms...

I was wondering what to do with work thing too. I had thought i would take 6 months maternity leave then go back part-time 3 days a week...but am now thinking that I should treasure every second of this little person who I was worried sick about, and have a year off work, and then see from there....my job is quite flexible and my employers are relaxed/open to suggested.

btw this is my first too, i'm 32, due 8/11/05, and i'm getting over the stress of being told we had a very high risk of chromosome abnormalities (1:2). amnio did not show anything unusual. am still reeling from the weeks events.

Thanks Jenjam.
So tempted to get back to bed to make it go quicker.!

Bains · 27/05/2005 12:12

Yeah...its a tough one actually. At the mo, I am thinking I dont want people at work to think I am opting out and not serious about work...but at the same time like you I would like to spend as much time as time with the baby...its a tough one. I guess you can't have it all...

The other issue is that childcare/nurseries are really expensive in central london....makes you wonder if its worth going back to work at all

Btw- I read about your issue at hosp on the thread...glad to hear everything was ok.

HellKat · 27/05/2005 12:14

Bains- I'm 30 now aswell!
Quick recap of previous notes for you. I went for my 11 wk scan back in April and should've been 11+2 but the baby had died at 8 wks. Had a d&c on the 26th then became preggers again. I started bleeding and cramping. Had a scan on Tuesday which showed my womb filled with blood (too early to see a baby). Had a set of bloods done (2nd were repeated today) to check hormone levels for an ectopic pregnancy (symptoms point that way). Have to ring at 3.30pm to find out. So we don't know if I'm still pg, if I am and it's ectopic or if it's a mc. Confusing.

Enthusia · 27/05/2005 12:26

Bains, - Hiya, I am also due on 11/11 with my first and ChaCha is also expecting her first too. Talk about a voyage of discovery huh? If you go to the thread in the antenatal section called Nov Stats you will see all our statistics, please add your own. I am 26 and live in Surrey, so not far from you by the sounds of it!!!

How has your first trimester been, I was VERY sicky to begin with, but am finding it much easier now. I am def expanding, although most of it looks like fat at the mo, tummy is very hard at the bottom though. I am in maternity just because I was reluctant to buy 'inbetween' clothes so plumped for maternity, they are SOOOOOO comfy so I don't mind if they are a little on the large size at the mo. My old clothes don't fit at all, not even my large ones from before I lost weight, they won't do up round the waist and are saggy on the bottom.

As for taking work off, I have decided to quite my job at the end of this academic year, as I am a teacher and decide what to do as and when. I like the flexibility that gives me!!!!

Enthusia · 27/05/2005 12:27

Actually I will 'quit' my job not 'quite' it.

And HK, good luck for this afternoon, not too long to wait, are you in a lot of pain?

SharonTW1 · 27/05/2005 12:52

Hi Everyone, me flitting in again, welcome Bains I'm 30 too, due on 18th Nov. Hope everyone's ok, Hellcat , you're not having an easy time are you girl, hope you're as ok as you can be, thinking about you x

Bains · 27/05/2005 13:43

Wow what a welcome....glad to hear I am not the only one on my first one. First trimester was a bit tough I think...alot of vomitting (don't know why they call it morning sickness the should call it "always at the worst posible moment" sickness"). But once the sickness and mood wings are over....pregnancy is great... its the only chance you get to have a big belly (and I do have quite a big belly now) and be proud of it. I am still a bit ropey but feeling better and getting to enjoy pregnancy a bit now.

HellKat....really sorry to hear about your issues. Best not to think about (I know thats easier said then done)...watch some crap telly or get some sleep in the sun until you have to call the hospital. Good Luck..I will have my fingers crossed for you...

Bains · 27/05/2005 13:59

PS I have popped my stats on the members list area...hope this was the right place

BEKsmum · 27/05/2005 14:34

Afternoon girls, HK hope you're enjoying the sunshine and trying not to worry too much, still got everyhting crossed for you. Hope it's good news for you all this afternoon.

Bains welcome aboard, another 30 year old here although feeling nearer to 90 today for some reason!

With regards to the work issue I obviously don't know what you do but I used to be a Personnel Officer so I would suggest that you ask that your replacement be taken on a temporary position with the option of going permanent if you decide not to return to work. When you notify your work tell them that you are planning on coming back regardless as you do not have to make the decision about returning to work until after the baby has been born. The job or something of a similar level must be kept open for you regardless so don't throw this option away.

Personally I had every intention of going back to work and could never see myself as a stay at home mum but once my son was born it changed my whole attitude to work and there was no way I was going back and missing out on all the firsts that this amazing little person goes through, the time is so precious and I don't think you fully realise this until you are holding in them in your arms. I couldn't face the childminder telling me that my son had smiled, rolled over, crawled or walked while I was at work and to be brutally honest it is also hard to earn enouogh to make it worthwhile especially if you go back part time.

Blimey sorry that went on for ages

Girls don't know why but I have been in the s**tiest mood ever for the last couple of days, I feel really knackered and have a permanent headache and poor old ds can't do right from wrong. Having a good cry to get it out of my system before I go and pick him up from pre-school. Have no reason to feel like this especially considering what some of the others are going through but had to get it off my chest sorry

Glad it's a bank holiday so that dh can have ds for three days for me, what is everyone else up to? Nothing planned here other thana friends bbq on Monday.

Hope you're all well and I'll check in later to see how HK got on, love to all.

Beks 15+5
