sorky · 10/06/2009 14:06

You're not pg are you LB?

julesisoneyearolder · 10/06/2009 14:07

spill spill

u cant honk and then leave

bumpsnowjustplump · 10/06/2009 14:09

No no nothing like that..... DS has not been sick today or last night!!!! This has never happened before and I am so so happy!! I really hope it isn't a one off and is rather a sign of things to come!! I can not wipe the smile off my face.

idreamofbeanie · 10/06/2009 14:14

Hooray LB, that's fantastic!

bumpsnowjustplump · 10/06/2009 14:14

And while we are on the subject of my wonderful ds he slept last night from 8 till 4....

So do you think it is the meds that I can now get down him or the 4 days of dairy free that I have done??

sorky · 10/06/2009 14:21

Sorry I went awol there.
LB that's absolutely fabulous news!!

I'm sooo pleased for you and Ds Is he a happy chappy today?

bumpsnowjustplump · 10/06/2009 14:23

really happy.... He is full of smiles and has even been laughing!!!

sorky · 10/06/2009 14:23

Aw! I'm grinning like loon here for you

bumpsnowjustplump · 10/06/2009 14:27

Me too... !! Have you thought any more about weaning dd2?

sorky · 10/06/2009 14:31

My instinct says no so I'll stick to that I think.
I remembered to swaddle her last night and she went from her dreamfeed at 11pm until 4.30am, which is back to the best she's been. 'Course she fed at 5.30 and 7am as well but we'll ignore that
Will try that again tonight. I can function on 4 hours sleep, it's not ideal but better than only 2hours x

So so pleased for you
Think it's prolly the meds btw

bumpsnowjustplump · 10/06/2009 14:41

I hope its the meds because then I can have my (chocolate ) cake and eat it !!

As you say every hour from 4.30 is better than ever hour from 1.00!! So I really hope dd2 gives you more than 4 hours tonight!

DS fed every hour from 4 but he went through from 8 till 4 so I am really chuffed. I just need to try and make the last feed a bit later because I am not going to bed at 8 !

I am going to continue to go dairy free for a week and just check today is not a fluke.. If he continues to be sick free I will start introducing dairy into my diet slowly!! If he starts being sick then I will cut it out again if not then I will eat normally again!!!

Sorky I missed "My child wont sleep" but glad I missed it now. I did watch (quite a while ago now) "My child wont eat" and I was astounded at what some children went through!!

So sorry for the me posts but I am sooooooo happy!!!

Diege · 10/06/2009 15:30

Wow that's brilliant news LB . Sounds like you've really turned a corner, and that the way you've given the meds has had an effect. Really pleased for you, you so deserve a break!
Interesting about the different parenting techniques. I always get quite cross about how intolerant some of the threads on mn can be if people choose techniques that are seen to be 'wrong'. I mean we've all been there, this trial and error parenting, and while (for eg.) AP isn't my cup of tea, I am in awe of people who try and succeed. Just as I get cross when people slam gf who've never read the book, when it saved my sanity!. (but this time of course it may not work and I may choose to carry ds in a sling at sleep times etc!) Horses for courses and all that...we'll all just trying our best!

TINKS, plan for groups sounds good. Are you able to meet-up with other mums outside of a class context, just for a coffee etc? I'm lucky that I have a friend who had her baby last week, so a bit of social contact, but I did find it hard with dds when they were babies as I knew very few people in the area. It's a shame we don't all live nearer!

IDOB, totally agree with what you say about other people and their nit-picking, usually based on some insecurity or nagging doubt that they didn't try something etc when they wanted to (like bf for eg.)

GLASK, great going on the e-bay front. I always wonder when a BIN goes quick if I shouldn't have put it on for more, but if I do it always ends up with bids and makes far less at auction!

LOL at husband manual I should say that 'training' is an on-going process (a bit like dog training I hear), and that skills need to be constantly reviewed and refreshed. Never rest on your laurals thinking that last week's clean will become a regular thing, and remember that if they have to come to get you to 'show' you that they've done, that this means they are only part of the way to becoming fully fledged. Also, we must stop this 'helping' talk!!!!! If you want 50/50 (you may not)then you have to see them as key player, and not domestic assistant. And what's this 'washes his own clothes' thing??? ; get him to stick some of yours/dcs in if he's putting a wash on!!! (unless of course you fear mixed colours accidents...) Right, sermon over

Town with friend was good - her twins are gorgeous, and are such little characters. Nearly one, but were several weeks premature and have had a few health probs, so still in teeny clothes! Friend is also a mw, and took one look at my bump and thinks labour will be any day. Eek!

Hello everyone
Thanks for the lovely lovely birthday wishes from everyone
Sorry I?ve been a bit absent lately. Seem to have not had 5mins to myself on the pc for ages. That?s 5mins with 2 hands so I can type a proper message

Today we?ve been out with our NCT friends for lunch, was very nice. DH made me breakfast and is cooking tonight
I?ve had lots of lovely gifts, vouchers for clothes, spa, and other things and a new bag from DH ? I feel very spoilt

STT- sorry you are feeling down. You aren?t ungrateful at all, it must be very hard adjusting to being a SAHM. Think you should cut yourself some slack and sit down with nice cup of tea and cake. Stuff the housework! (though I do know how hard it is to ignore it when you are at home all day!)
LB- so pleased for you that DS hasn?t been sick today. Long may it last. Sending lots of unconventional wagon hugs your way

Glask- spider sounds horrid! Hope DS got on ok without a nap

Moosy- I love ginger cake, please send some over!

Kayz- any luck finding a hutch

Hi Ses ? glad the TT is sorted and DS is ok. Hope you can relax a bit now.

Hi IDOB

Sorky- didn?t watch that programme but debated doing so on catch up? maybe not!

LBOT- hello, any luck with the pram decision. I still recommend the Bee, I had similar concerns re the height but it hasn?t been an issue!

Hi Diege- come on girl, do I need to suggest directly applied prostaglandins to get things going. You have 8hrs to give birth today!!!

Finally update for the small giraffe, weighed and measured and is now 11lbs 12oz and has grown a whopping 6cm in 4wks!
She is only on 50th centile for weight but 98th for her length!!

We go away on hols on Friday, cant wait though not sure I can cope with MN withdrawal. Hope phone works in Dorset!

Right, got to sort out mine and the SG?s holiday clothes. Back laters!

Glad you had a lovely Birthday GYo

Glad you got sorted Jules

Hoorays all round Can anyone tell I'm in "get dressed to go out, sans enfant, mode"?

Tralalalalala!

I intend to be a wee bit squiffy

Diege · 10/06/2009 17:36

bumpsnowjustplump · 10/06/2009 17:41

Hope you have a lovely evening sorky. DS has been a bit sick this afternoon but not half as much as before and he is still really happy!!

Sorky have a glass for me please!! Diege how are you feeling?

Happy bday GYO Good going on lo weight!!!

SesHasFinallyBecomeAMum · 10/06/2009 18:09

Hello!!

Had a good time in town - treated mum to lunch at Costa as a thank you for all her help.

GYo - glad you've had a good birthday. Yay for SG growth. Can't wait to meet her, we'll have to do another meet up when you're back from hols.

BNJP - So happy to hear of DS progress. Must be a huge relief to know something's working. Let's hope it's the meds and you can be back on the chocolate brownies before long!

Sorky - not totally sure about feeding progress with DS. He definitely has more movement in his tongue and seems to be sleeping more soundly so fingers crossed!
Enjoy your time out with the girls!

Jules - glad you got groups sorted and enjoy aerobics.

Diege - officially any time then!
Btw, don't know if I'm being dense, but re parenting techniques, what is AP?

GYo · 10/06/2009 18:16

Have a fab evening Sorky!

LB- I will also have a drink for you

LOL Diege... enjoy any "application"- hard to enjoy as such but still

DH just gave me glass of champagne and is cooking something im not allowed to see! Love being banned from kitchen.

GYo · 10/06/2009 18:20

Definately Ses, would also love to meet Owen.

Reckon if he is sleeping better he must be eating better too

Diege · 10/06/2009 19:20

Mmm GYO champagne! Even though I don't drink champagne is one that I do like (though well-diluted with orange juice ). Emjoy your meal!
SES, AP is 'attachment parenting' - I didn't know until SORKY told me when she used the initals and I asked too
Dh out to his yoga class, and we have arranged childcare for tomorrow so don't have the school run. Even walking small distances now is painful, although can't really explain why (ie. no spd or anything like that) Just the general bump weight I think! Will be so glad to get this baby out now, as it's not as if I'm spending leisurely days in a sunny garden - just whining about pains and getting cross about my inability to pick anything off the floor! Def. no no.5 for me!!!

Sparklytwinkletoes · 10/06/2009 22:09

Sorry for disappearing earlier - thanks so much for the airtime on 'parenting techniques', I do feel much better for just posting that I don't know what the I'm doing! I don't think I'd realised quite how much I'd been worrying about 'doing the right thing' and its good to have some reassurance from everyone (regardless of no. of kids btw), I should have more faith in the whole 'doing what feels right and works for me and mine and sod everyone else!'

As for the washing - we started off washing separately as DH used conditioner on his clothes when we met and I was allergic, and its just carried on that way. TBH, I wouldn't change it, the only time he's ever tried to help by doing mine, he's shrunk stuff! And at least he can't blame me if he runs out of clean pants / shirts / socks.

As for ironing, we don't really do that either - DH just does his work shirt for each day the night before. All works quite well really.

He's just crap at tidying and cleaning. He thinks the best thing to do is leave everything out and about (anyone seen Charlie and Lola ) so that you can easily find it when you need it. Yeah, no sh1t when you trip over it!

I've spent loads of time browsing the housekeeping boards, and also the FlyLady website, and tried to implement it today, and I'm really impressed with the results - I just need to keep it up for longer than one day!

Anyway, thanks all, next time I won't stew for quite so long...

bumpsnowjustplump · 11/06/2009 07:45

Well it didn't last! Owen had me up most of the night either feeding or being sick!! I need a shower. I am holding out hope that he is getting better and this is just a small set back though. Sleep is (after all) for the week, wont be on again as I am going to see ses..

SesHasFinallyBecomeAMum · 11/06/2009 07:47

Morning!

STT - me and DH tend to do separate loads of washing too but mainly due to my paranoia about mixing colours, delicates, etc. DH tends to do one main load a week by chucking the entire contents of his washing basket in the machine all at once. I think I'm a bit too paranoid and just have to separate all my washing!

GYo - what was DH cooking for you in the end?

DS and I are looking forward to meeting up with BNJP and her DCs later
