Just a quickie to check for babies ??

I?ve had some funny pains in the front of my legs that have made me wonder if anything might happen soon. It?s hot as hell here today thank god I won?t be pregnant in August!

Tee ? woke up in the middle of the night and realised that I had forgotten to wash the ?rigging? for the Amby it is now washed and on the line, thank you for reminding me yay you are packed!!!

Laura ? poor you you are getting the whole host of pregnancy nasties aren?t you? You shouldn?t be going into town if you don?t feel like it, sounds exhausting!

Silkcushion ? what a nice person you are doing that when heavily pregnant, puts me to shame. We have changed our plan slightly; we are going to have a BBQ when we get home from the walk instead of the Italian and save our money to spend on our anniversary (or in the hospital canteen if the baby decides to come that day!)

Hey June try not to think negative thoughts like that about the birth, go and get a tiny newborn hat and see just how small that is or take the measurements from the scan (remembering that they are rough) and show yourself just how little that is, it?ll surprise you . In my hypnobirthing we visualise our cervix being like a roll necked jumper, gently coming down over the baby to bring it into the world or some methods chant ?I am as wide as a canyon? if you think that will work better scans can be up to 500g out which is quite a bit when you think of how little a baby actually weighs. Remember your body has created this baby for you, it is highly unlikely that it would make a baby that doesn?t fit you perfectly never underestimate the power of positive thought! I second all that Ermintrude says

hello Ermintrude hey Doris

Ineedmore ? hoping things happen for you, I have to say; your sequence of events is exactly the same as when I had DS and I had him the day after the first show.

Daisy ? I agree with you about people being so desperate to meet the baby, why? They are hardly gorgeous new born are they?! Re ER (and Tee can shout at me if I am wrong) and American birth programmes in general, they tend to be very medicalised and dramatic, I watched a lot of ?Extreme Births? before I had DS (silly me) and scared myself half to death. They were giving women at full term amnios when they came into hospital in labour to see if the baby?s lungs were mature enough? And they were treating women who didn?t want pain relief as freaks. Really hope you feel better soon

Naat ? poor you on the bad night, I was up between 3-6 and then shattered when DS woke at 7 happy moving! do you have to tell SIL where you?ve moved to?

Thanks Bunnymother for your nice words let?s hope we get that romantic dinner!
Llynnnn ? enjoy the peace

Choccie ? have a lovely weekend

It is truly amazing that tomorrow is the last day of May and that none of the June babies (well maybe apart from Bigcar?s maybe) have arrived before! We are obviously too comfy for them. Idea for new thread title ? Due in June 2009 ? let the eviction process begin!?

silkcushion · 30/05/2009 12:47

Collecting my Marie Curie cancer charity envelopes hasn't gone according to plan . Firstly my super cute toddler (in a pretty dress) burst into tears when three houses in someone said hello to her. Not like dd at all - she was hot and tired so DH took her home and put her down for a sleep.

Then he set to work on his laptop and I volunteered to carrying on waddling collecting down the rest of the road. Have managed to time it with not only the hottest day of the year so far but the hottest time of day!!!

Got back 5 minutes ago - have done quite well from the houses where people were home but my feet have swollen to double their normal size I've only been gone 90 minutes. Met lots of nice neighbours I didn't know before and had lots of chats with other mummies all of whom thought I was mad/brave to be out in this heat.

Right, resting with my feet up til dd wakes and we can have salady lunch in the garden

see you later

silkcushion · 30/05/2009 12:50

x posts MrsM - love the new title - let's just hope the babies are listening

chocciedooby · 30/05/2009 13:43

Silkcushion - get those feet up girl You are so good to go and collect the envelopes. Enjoy your rest and salady lunch.

Mrsmc - Do you have air con over there? I do hope so for your sake. It is really hot here today let alone in Spain.
Enjoy your walk and BBQ. Sounds lovely.

Ermin - lol about the fanny You are so right about the circumference of the head being the important thing. And yes the doctors do get the weight estimates wrong. It's just too difficult to be accurate.

Well I have just dropped DS1 off to a birthday party until 3pm and DS2 is cuddling up with dh on the sofa. They are both feeling a bit unwell (colds) so I am off out into the garden for some feet up time with an ice pop

Tee2072 · 30/05/2009 15:59

naat sent me a message on Facebook. All moved in, she didn't lift a finger!

Gosh is gorgeous out. If I wasn't such a lazy sod I'd go take a walk or something!

silkcushion · 30/05/2009 19:21

Choccie sorry to hear about yr boys being ill. Hope the ice pop was nice

Tee - delighted Naat didn't do anything. Just enjoy the sunshine and take my advice don't bother trying to walk

Had a excrutiatingly embarassing thing happen this afternoon. After the salady lunch in the garden dh says sod it to the extra work he's meant to do - let's go out. We go to a counrty park with a fab play area for children and take dd's push along bike. Realised about 30 mins in that I was wilting in the heat. dh had to do all the running after dd as she rushed off in every direction. As it was so hot I couldn't bare to wear my maternity trousers so put on non maternity knee length shorts and my bump band. It meant the shorts weren't really pulled up properly - crotch hanging a bit low

We're walking along in the sunshine passed loads of families having picnics etc when I feel a bit faint. I tell dh I've got to sit on the grass for a moment. Unable to gracefully lower my elephant physique to the floor I sort of flop down and as I do my shorts literally rip apart. From the crotch to the knee seam down both legs I was sitting there 9 months pg with my knickers and lower belly and thighs in full display!!!!

My reaction - trying not to cry

DH's reaction - crying with laughter He said I bet you tell mn and they'll say you should divorce me

We were a 20 minute waddle away from the car and couldn't bring it any closer. Dh offered me his tshirt but cos of the bump it wasn't any longer than mine. Oh the shame as I passed everyone on the way back to the car.

Now I'm home, have my very swollen legs and feet up again and feel a bit better I can see the funny side of it.

MrsMcJnr · 30/05/2009 20:39

Silkcushion ? poor you, suffering on your feet like that, still a very worthy cause DS loved the seafront he ran along arms out yelling and I think his happiness was infectious, everyone we saw smiled at him. Hopefully he?ll sleep a bit longer tomorrow his usual 8.30am alarm call has been 7am all week LOL at your ?moment? sorry hon, oh dear, you couldn?t have staged that better though (now being yelled at by MIL and DH for laughing out loud )

Choccie ? we do have air con but it?s my bug bear and I hate it. I much prefer fans and will no doubt have a fight on my hands with DH when it gets really hot as I don?t want the baby to have to sleep in air con. Sorry to hear your sons are under the weather

Tee ? thanks for the update on Naat

insywinsyspider · 30/05/2009 20:53

ermin dh?s bday is a week before ds1?s and dh doesn?t like it, this baby is due week before my birthday so I?ll have ?shared? bdays too now still wishing for rain here (only where I live though! So if you?re not in Warwickshire my rain dancing shouldn?t affect you )

naat just catching up with the SIL news at how rude she can be and to make you feel like that ? do you think she knows how much she?s upset you? Sounds like she?s completely oblivious, which makes sense seeing as she?s not go children, sounds like a big tantrum look at me moment from someone who?s a little scared of losing the family limelight?

mrsmcj I watched ER last night ? dh didn?t want me too when it said at beginning scences of distressing childbirth, it really scared me (and a cried at most of it, not a good time to watch people dying!) like the new thread title too! And at ds being up at 8.30am (or even 7am) my two are up at 6.30am full of beans

june scans and guessing on baby size is just that, don?t worry baby might just be long, they told be ds1 would definitely be 9lb? he was 7lb 3oz and MW was surprised

tee well done on bag ? I moved mine from car on Thursday as game on for HB

silk hope you got those feet up ? I need to get out to sell raffle tickets for our village fete but bottled it due to weather!

Bought a fan from focus today ? absolute bliss, I had a nap at lunchtime due to weather and felt quite sick when I woke up, so planning to spend tomorrow with my feet in boys paddling pool in shade

DorisIsAPinkDragon · 30/05/2009 21:51

Hi all,

I'm just going with what I can remember so apologies in advance for anything I can't!

Tee- thanks for the message from Naat glad to hear that she was listening

Insy and MrsMc- I'm with insy on the we too have 0630 starts (that's dh's normal time to get up, and sadly the dd's don't differentiate weekdays from the weekend

silk- sorry but I just could stop myself with your very visual description, bless you.... think I really would have cried!

choci- hope you had a lovely afternoon, I can't wait for the parties where I just drop and collect dd1 is still 3 so wants mummy there (maybe she thinks I love it as much as she does )

Right that's all my poor little brain can remember (or scan up the thread). Had a positive day today - sent dh food shopping with the dd's and I went and did loads of odd job shopping paint and paint brushes for the house blah blah blah....

Had an hour or so rest then tidied the house, and now done 3 loads of washing and put it out on the line ready for tomorrow!

Oh and had spicy tea, I am sooooo wanting this baby out!

Forgot had to take dd2 back to see the (CF) team yesterday, made appt at 0900 for 1000 with only me dressed, a 25 minute journey to the hospital and a detour via my mums to drop off dd1 !!!!! Managed to get there 5 minutes late and was VVV proud of myself (had a few BH's fast walking from the car park to the lifts tho' (oh and dd2 is now on more different AB's, but fingers crossed these will be the ones that work!)

Right am going to have an early night with hypnobirthing cd and pray for babies.

Wonder if Littles danced to hard last night and had her LO

lauraloo09 · 30/05/2009 22:01

aaaaggggghhhh so unconfortable I dont have the memory to catch up with everyone! Belly feels dead tight and feel like baby is going to pop out everytime i bend over why oh why wont this baby just arrive!!!!

silk poor you after what happened to you in the park I would have just sat t here and cried

tee yey on packing your bag hope you sat with your feet up, and thanks for the update on naat

Think thats all i can remember sorry everyone

Ineedmorechocolatenow · 30/05/2009 22:13

Checking in for baby news before bed. Cramps here, but nothing more exciting than that. Had a curry, pineapple, been bouncing on the birthing ball, pumping with the breast pump and about to go and see if a quickie with DH might shift things on.....

Sorry to hear about your trauma silk - I'd have been mortified!

Happy sleep to all xx

OP posts:
MrsMcJnr · 30/05/2009 22:52

Doris & Insy - I know 8am sounds late by British standards, my sister's boys get up at 6am but they go to bed at 6pm and my DS goes to bed between 8 and 9pm because it is still so hot here (and getting hotter) that's why I expect him to sleep later.

Have a good night ladies

Tee2072 · 31/05/2009 03:01

Hi all

Up in the middle of the night again with deadly heartburn. Guess I'd better ring GP on Monday and see if I can get something stronger than Gaviscon. Doesn't seem to matter what I eat, either.

I forgot to say that naat also had me copy and paste today's messages into an email so that she can keep up! It didn't quite work the way we had hoped it would, but she got the gist!!

bunnymother · 31/05/2009 06:01

Morning ladies!!

Still no babies!

Ermintrude - God bless you and your wise words! Will be looking intently at our baby hats today! Once I have shrunk them in the dryer...

Silk - was going to post w how impressive your charity collecting was and how nice your adorable DD had her dad to hand, but then I saw your later post!! Oh, you poor thing!!! Although I did also shake w laughter because you wrote in such a witty way, my apologies. Love your DH's observations re MN!! . My DH is now completely used to my conversation peppered with "Well, the Mumsnetters say..." and "according to MN..." Hope you are feeling better now!
It does feel like we are heaped with one indignity after another at this stage, doesn't it?

Daisy - DH and I are also doing a "quick and dirty" will, inc references to guardianship, too. Shudder to think how things could turn out without one...

MrsMcJnr - how gorgeous is your DS?! I am v hopeful that I could achieve 8:30am starts w my LO (obv not straight away...) Great new thread name!

Insy - your plans for today sound fab! Pretty perfect for we v heavily pregnant ladies!

Insy and June - I have been told our LO will be average (ie she is estimated at 50th percentile), but my sister's boyf is a dr and he saw me and queried how I could have an avg baby w such a big bump! ermin and insy sounds like you are right - its all a big game of guesstimate! Besides which, she will be whatever size she is. As well as being perfect

Laura - oh you poor possum - hope something happens soon!!

Ineed - love your v comprehensive approach to bringing the baby on!! DH is delighted to think how often I will be calling on him to perform his husbandly duties to assist in luring LO out!

Tee - your heartburn is vicious - my sympathies!!

I am awake as was too uncomfortable and had stressy dreams, too. Although had brilliant day yesterday - DH and I took a very long (and slow) walk around Hyde Park, enjoying the sun. Nothing like ice creams in the sun! Then a nice pub lunch in a beer garden, home for a rest where a girlfriend dropped around to say hello bringing delish cupcakes. Then we went out for dinner w my sister and some friends - my perfect day!! [smmile] Now conscious that each time we see people/do things it could be the last pre-baby.

BTW H&M do what look like v nice, foxy nursing bras at only £13 each!! Lace and underwire - I am on the case!!

daisy5 · 31/05/2009 07:08

Ineed - I was really pinning my hopes on you this morning....convinced you had your baby last night (maybe you have?).

oh silk - how excruciating....oooo dear...my oldest maternity trousers split the other day but in the privacy of my garden. You really needed a personal helicopter to come and rescue you....or the Thunderbirds or something. Any sympathetic looks?

bunny - your day sounds perfect. So glad you could enjoy the sunshine. tee hee at shrinking the hats. It is amazing what your body does though, it just stretches and then pings back. Very wise with the 2 month embargo, I had to say 'no' to my parents flying over after dd's birth. I felt so awful, but knew I couldn't look after three needy ones at the same time as cooking and cleaning for dp - they would have needed to stay at least a month to make it worthwhile. I was so relieved I did, I would have had a breakdown. I flew home for a visit when dd was 4.5 months and realised my Dad really wasn't well and had to set things in motion so he could get help. He was soon after was diagnosed with Alziemhers, so it would have been of truly nightmare proportions if they had tried to travel over here. It was hard enough dealing with it while at home. Shame I didn't start having babies 10 years ago, when everyone was more sprightly and capable. It makes me sad sometimes.

mrsmcjnr doris & insy - we live by Mediterranean timings too. DD goes to bed any time between 7.30 and 8.00 during the week, and wakes at about 7.30 - 8am. At weekends and holidays - it's more like 9am - 9pm. Basically, it suits us well and she has always been quite flexible and likes staying up. That way, dh gets to spend almost an hour with her in the evening - as he usually gets home around 7pm if he's not out and we get to have a cuddle in bed in the morning before he goes to work - he leaves around 8.30am. I like them seeing as much of each other as possible as it makes his day, and she gets to see more of her dad. On holidays she sleeps till 9am, and so I get to have something of a sleep in.

I am terrified that this child will be a 6am riser!!!!!

mrsmcjnr - I didn't realise that Americans are so big on pain relief. I did the whole NCT thing last time, and so this time just popped along to a couple of the NHS classes to refresh my memory. They were fine, but what astonished me is that they did not mention the word 'breathing' once. Not once. When I was told I couldn't have an epidural when in agonising pain (too late), I was ordered to get my breathing right and in 5 minutes I was back under control, focusing on my dp's face like my life depended on it and breathing very deeply, but it worked.

laura & Ineed - so none of us have moved from the 'transit lounge' yet. I really wanted to catch this flight yesterday or Friday, but now i am fed up.

naat - yah, you have moved house and the baby didn't make an unexpected early arrival. That must be a relief. I guess you are still unpacking for the next few days, but your mum is still there isn't she?

tee - poor you honey. Twice yesterday food and acid came all the way up into my mouth, which is just revolting, but I have got off a little lighter than last time. You must be really suffering. It really puts you off eating doesn't it!

ermintrude - so right about heads and weights. Mine was just 7.10oz (very average) but had a big head, but still popped out like a champagne cork. My cousin's baby was estimated at 7oz but was actually 9.9oz but the head was the same size as my dd - so all in all, it doesn't mean a lot.

choccie - how is dh being this weekend? A bit more 'involved'? I think I might have to get the paddling pool out too today - set to be another gorgeous one.

Aside from early morning and later in the evening I spent a lot of the day dozing in the coolest room in the house with a big headache and cramps wishing the baby would come. I tried being really energetic on Friday and that didn't work, and neither did yesterday's lazy day, so i give up!!! I really had my heart on this being a May baby (my grandmother who recently died was called May), but do you find you have favourite days you would like it to be born on, and other days you don't like so much? I like 26, 28, 29 and 30 but not crazy about 27 or 31, and I like 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6 but not crazy about 7 or 9. The 1st June sounds a nice day for a baby to be born - first day of summer

Ineedmorechocolatenow · 31/05/2009 07:10

Checking in - Still no babies? You know it'll be like buses and 5 will come along on the same day! Bigcar will definitely have had her baby by now, so at least there's one Juner LO in the world at the mo.

Cramps this morning and back ache, but very quiet overnight and I actually slept okay (a miracle). I certainly won't be telling the consultant that on Tuesday, I'll be telling him that I can't sleep at all and I NEED THIS BABY OUT NOW!

Effie - Hope you're okay and the hospital is not too hot. Thinking of you x

bunny - your day yesterday sounded amazing! Nothing like pub lunch in lovely garden and ice-creams in the sun.... bliss! I miss living in London sometimes as there is nothing quite like the parks on a sunny day. Hope you enjoyed your dinner.

Tee - Sorry to hear about your horrible heartburn. Mine was raging last night too. Scan back through the thread and ermintrude recommended some tablets to me that you take. Mine had calmed down (before last night) so I hadn't got round to seeing the GP to beg ask for some. Hope it's not too bad tonight....

Laura - Come on.. one of us two has to pop today! I'm feeling all the same symptoms as you. Good vibes coming your way from the chocolate household...

Doris - Hope your DD's new ABs work.

ermintrude - I agree with the 'guess the baby weight' comment. DS was born at 37 weeks and was 7lb 8oz, so quite nice and compact. However, his head circumference was large.... (2nd degree tears and episiotomy). DS still has a large head and has to wear hats for 5-6 year olds and he's only 2! You can imagine the joy I felt as all the sonographers have commented on this LO's large head..... I guess it's a family trait!

Right, come on girls, let's get these babies out. I'm going to pop into town this morning and then re-oil my steamer chairs for the garden ready for the lounging around in the sunshine (?) I'm going to be doing over the over the next few weeks.... Lots of activity to get this little boy into the world.

Much love xx

cross posting Ineed - so no babies for either of us [muttley muttering emoticon]. all the best with your oiling. I wonder if oiling my fanny might help!!!

Ineedmorechocolatenow · 31/05/2009 07:15

X-Posts daisy - Enjoy your paddling pool... we got DS's out yesterday and he had a whale of a time in it...

Forgot to say Hi to Naat and hope that you're back on here soon.

Oh, and how freakin' frustrating is it having nothing to wear in this heat? All my stuff is for cooler weather as I didn't think I'D STILL BE PREGNANT WHEN IT WAS BOILING HOT.... AAGH!!

And breathe....

PMSL!! 'Oiling my fanny'.... now there's an idea!.......

OP posts:
chocciedooby · 31/05/2009 08:22

Good Morning

"oiling my fanny" - lol at 8am.

Still no baby news?

We had a lovely evening last night. DH and I went out for a super chinese and ate out on the terrace in the sun. It really was lovely but we were home by 9.30pm as I was so tired and swollen. DS1 was still awake which was a bit of a nuisance considering he had been up since 7am. Anyway, it wasn't long before he dropped off to sleep and then we watched Britains Got Talent!

DS1 wakes at 7am at the weekends due to the excitement of having daddy home for the day This is really sweet but quite tiring as he also doesn't sleep until 9.30pm. I truly don't know where he gets his energy from. I am up with him this morning and he is wired already. I have struggled to open my eyes. DH is up in bed having a rest. Silly me said he could have a rest this morning as I had a rest yesterday but its his birthday tomorrow so he will want another one. I know I sound so mean about this but I struggle to get through the day if I don't get 8 hours sleep. I got about 6 last night.

It's going to be hard to deal with sleep deprivation once baba is here.

Daisy - DH is ok. We all had quite a lazy day yesterday although today will be a different matter as the house is a pig sty and we have friends coming over for bbq this afternoon. I'm going to have to don my bossy hat again!

Naat - so pleased to hear your move went well and you didn't lift a finger.

Silk - Please forgive me but your story in the park made me lol. I am sure it was very embarressing at the time but glad you can see the funny side of it all now.

silkcushion · 31/05/2009 09:17

morning all no new baby in the Silk household. Dd is running round and round in circles with dh trying to catch her for a nappy change.

Got to go dd just ran in asking for me to read her a book

DorisIsAPinkDragon · 31/05/2009 09:41

Hi all,

Still here too. Although on the postive front had a show last night (not nice bleurghhh didn't have that the last couple of times) only a small amount, then a bit more this morning and another bit just now!!

But looking at one of the pregnacy threads it could still be weeks before this LO appears

No BH's to speak of, so I am going to go out for a gentle stroll around a car boot sale this morning, to try and encourage things along.

DH and I have both failed on the guess the date game (we weren't overeager really!)

PMSL at oiling the fanjo right now I think I'm prepared to start trying anything. Dsis has a number for a reflexologist rumoured to tempt babies out so if nothing by tomorrow I'll be giving her a call!

Hope you all have lovely days (apart from warwickshire!!)

Tee2072 · 31/05/2009 09:46

Good morning ladies!

Sill no babies? [pout emoticon]

I woke up at 9:15ish to find DH had:

  1. put in a load of wash
  2. was washing the front window!

I think he was replaced with a pod person over night. I shall hunt for the pod later.

doris glad to hear of show. Could still be weeks?!?!

bunny thanks for the tip, re H&M nursing bras. I will have to do that this week!

Hi everyone else! Let's get some babies going!!

dreamydowler · 31/05/2009 10:00

Morning Ladies Glad to hear everyone is just about coping with this heatwave which looks like its here for at least another week. Sent my dp to get a large pool friday and spent most of yesterday with my feet dangling in it. Bless him hes had a long drive to Birmingham today to pick up my double pushchair. Ive abandoned roast dinner today in favour of a chicken salad. I too have acquired a really good fan which I now couldnt be without. Ive been getting some really strong braxton hicks on and off since tuesday of last week and had a show friday night but not much else has happened. Im hoping to last another week yet. Bought my daughters balloons for her party next week and have booked the following day at gullivers so Im thinking 8th or 9th I will be ready to have baby and chill
I keep hoping to hear news of babys on here but then its not officially June until tomorrow How quickly did that come round. I went two weeks overdue and had to be induced last time and am desperately hoping that wont happen again this time as that would potentially mean another whole month of being pregnant
Well I hope everyone has a nice Sunday I will check in again later

lauraloo09 · 31/05/2009 10:23

morning all just checking in unfortunately no baby here at moment but a very uncomfortable night with more tightenings and cramps, just wish they would become regular - maybe some gardening today will push baby along [wishful thinking emoticon]

ineed & daisy thought one of you would have had baby by now, seems like the June babies are very comfy where they are at moment - sending positive vibes to everyone who has had a show and experiencing pre-labour pains

tee sorry to hear you were up again thro the night hopefully your pod person will do some more housework for you today to allow you to rest

BIl is coming over to cut the grass today (thank god looks like a forest) so i'll just potter about doing light gardening like i did yesterday...or just sit on my patio furniture with laptop keeping up with any progress with you guys
