Ineed - I was really pinning my hopes on you this morning....convinced you had your baby last night (maybe you have?).
oh silk - how excruciating....oooo dear...my oldest maternity trousers split the other day but in the privacy of my garden. You really needed a personal helicopter to come and rescue you....or the Thunderbirds or something. Any sympathetic looks?
bunny - your day sounds perfect. So glad you could enjoy the sunshine. tee hee at shrinking the hats. It is amazing what your body does though, it just stretches and then pings back. Very wise with the 2 month embargo, I had to say 'no' to my parents flying over after dd's birth. I felt so awful, but knew I couldn't look after three needy ones at the same time as cooking and cleaning for dp - they would have needed to stay at least a month to make it worthwhile. I was so relieved I did, I would have had a breakdown. I flew home for a visit when dd was 4.5 months and realised my Dad really wasn't well and had to set things in motion so he could get help. He was soon after was diagnosed with Alziemhers, so it would have been of truly nightmare proportions if they had tried to travel over here. It was hard enough dealing with it while at home. Shame I didn't start having babies 10 years ago, when everyone was more sprightly and capable. It makes me sad sometimes.
mrsmcjnr doris & insy - we live by Mediterranean timings too. DD goes to bed any time between 7.30 and 8.00 during the week, and wakes at about 7.30 - 8am. At weekends and holidays - it's more like 9am - 9pm. Basically, it suits us well and she has always been quite flexible and likes staying up. That way, dh gets to spend almost an hour with her in the evening - as he usually gets home around 7pm if he's not out and we get to have a cuddle in bed in the morning before he goes to work - he leaves around 8.30am. I like them seeing as much of each other as possible as it makes his day, and she gets to see more of her dad. On holidays she sleeps till 9am, and so I get to have something of a sleep in.
I am terrified that this child will be a 6am riser!!!!!
mrsmcjnr - I didn't realise that Americans are so big on pain relief. I did the whole NCT thing last time, and so this time just popped along to a couple of the NHS classes to refresh my memory. They were fine, but what astonished me is that they did not mention the word 'breathing' once. Not once. When I was told I couldn't have an epidural when in agonising pain (too late), I was ordered to get my breathing right and in 5 minutes I was back under control, focusing on my dp's face like my life depended on it and breathing very deeply, but it worked.
laura & Ineed - so none of us have moved from the 'transit lounge' yet. I really wanted to catch this flight yesterday or Friday, but now i am fed up.
naat - yah, you have moved house and the baby didn't make an unexpected early arrival. That must be a relief. I guess you are still unpacking for the next few days, but your mum is still there isn't she?
tee - poor you honey. Twice yesterday food and acid came all the way up into my mouth, which is just revolting, but I have got off a little lighter than last time. You must be really suffering. It really puts you off eating doesn't it!
ermintrude - so right about heads and weights. Mine was just 7.10oz (very average) but had a big head, but still popped out like a champagne cork. My cousin's baby was estimated at 7oz but was actually 9.9oz but the head was the same size as my dd - so all in all, it doesn't mean a lot.
choccie - how is dh being this weekend? A bit more 'involved'? I think I might have to get the paddling pool out too today - set to be another gorgeous one.
Aside from early morning and later in the evening I spent a lot of the day dozing in the coolest room in the house with a big headache and cramps wishing the baby would come. I tried being really energetic on Friday and that didn't work, and neither did yesterday's lazy day, so i give up!!! I really had my heart on this being a May baby (my grandmother who recently died was called May), but do you find you have favourite days you would like it to be born on, and other days you don't like so much? I like 26, 28, 29 and 30 but not crazy about 27 or 31, and I like 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6 but not crazy about 7 or 9. The 1st June sounds a nice day for a baby to be born - first day of summer
