Even if it doesn't seem like it most of the time

Definitely! (If we can - DS had his legs crossed so didn't find out till 34 weeks scan!)

Not sure yet - going to wait until the scan and then decide.
My cold is worse and is now turning into sinusitis so I think I'll have to take a walk to the NHS walk in centre and get some penicillin (which I gather is safe in pregnancy). I've done honey and lemon drinks, plenty of fluids, steaming and vicks but it's not shifting. My whole face hurts and I'm feeling very sorry for myself.

LizLemon, we've got the same favourite authors! Austen & Murakami, a strange combination, but I love them both.

Got my downs result after returning from five days in Switzerland: 1 in 3100 - very happy with that!

I had a dezi (10ml) of white wine in Switzerland a couple of times and even lit my friend's cigarette on occasion! Don't want to start smoking again but it's a good sign too as just the smell of it made me gag a few weeks ago.

ladylush, go for the penicillin, I don't like taking it normally but malingering over a cold for too long can't be good for you either.

I'm not sure if I want to find out the sex - I kind of like the old fashioned surprise but on the other hand it would help with the name-finding. My boyfriend still wants Siegfried - had to black it out in the name book I bought in Basel!

Great scan result Thusnelda
I'm going to try sterimar nasal spray first. If that doesn't work I'll go to the walk-in centre tomorrow.

I so want to know what it is - I can't bear the suspense. Got 8 weeks to wait though...

Thusnelda I'm a bit eclectic when it comes to books (hence the hundreds piled up around the house). I also used to be a bookseller! First editions - a terrible habit to get into Great scan result btw.

Sorry to hear the cold got worse ladylush - penicillin sounds like a good option if you're feeling that bad. My throat is still sore but that seems to be as far as I'm going with it.

ladylush I hope you're feeling better soon - it'll be nice for you to enjoy this 'blooming' stage at last!

I went out last night - crossed the mersey and went to liverpool...I love being sober and watching the world wobble by, thinking wryly to myself, 'Heh heh, well you're gonna feel like crap in the morning and I'm going to be fresh as a daisy'. Had a great night, despite ending up in a rough-ass pub on Mathew St and watching a major riot (something I've never seen in L'pool, by the way!) Was also nice driving and not having to worry about standing in the cold waiting for taxis!

I haven't felt baby move yet (I don't think) 15 weeks today. BUT, when the music was pounding through me, my tummy tightened quite a bit...strange!

Is anyone actually blooming? 16+2, still sick, still very tired.....maybe I'm more of a bulb than a bloom!

Report
audreyraines · 29/03/2009 18:04

yeah, i'm still waiting for the blooming part to hit. still wilting here

JRocks · 29/03/2009 19:58

Hello all... finally got myself some of that no alcohol beer. Cobra rather than Becks, but scratched the itch quite nicely!

Also am convinced I can feel the baby moving as of yesterday. Why I would doubt myself I don't know, it's not like I've not felt this before!!

I don't think I've got to the blooming part yet either if that's any consolation to anyone?

Report
TheTickListQueen · 29/03/2009 20:08

I've started to feel definite kicks now. Didn't start with any flutterings like last time.

Definitely a no alcohol zone here as I failed my GTT. Is torture when DH walks past with a glass of wine in hand and I can smell it.

peachygirl · 29/03/2009 20:12

(whispers) I'm feeling much better

On the movement front I just thought I'd post to reassure the first timers that I didn't feel DD until after my 20 wek scan. I never felt flutters either, but maybe I just didn't recognise them.

Hi there. Been ages since I've been on but managed to find the new thread. Not quite blooming at 16 weeks today but feeling better than I have been - less knackered at least. Some flutterings here but no real 'kicks' as such yet. I too didn't feel DD until after the 20 week scan and read that that's pretty normal for first time Mum's.

blue76 - I too live on the non-Liverpool side of the Mersey. Are you at Arrowe?

Report
blue76 · 30/03/2009 07:17

cautious yeah I'm at Arrowe - though I had my booking in appt at Mill Lane. It's closer to me and they are open on Thurs eves - don't have to take time off work either! Though I've been to EPU at Arrowe 3 times now I was 15 weeks yesterday. Not blooming as such but sickness and tiredness has gone at last!

Hi all
On Friday I was sick for 4th time in entire pregnancy but it was such a mega one that I think it made up for not having been sick so far. I am beginning to feel a bit more mobile although now 8 1/2 TPT at 15 weeks and 5 days. Also enjoying food a little more which is good and bad. I think the babies have settled now and so I can get on with living- one seems on top of the other which is weird as I thought they would be side by side!

Staceyk · 30/03/2009 09:48

Hi all, had scan 10 days ago, all fine, but they put my dates back, so only 12+6 due 6th Oct, so guess I should defect to the Oct thread.

Morning ladies, glad you are all starting to feel better even if not exactly blooming.

I really need some reassurance today. Having a major anxiety attack. I've got my 16wk check (16+2 today)on Wednesday and have come over all terrified that they won't be able to find a heartbeat. I know I'm being irrational, I only had a scan 3 weeks ago but just feel really panicked and anxious. I don't have a walk in EPU to go to for reassurance and am resisting the urge to buy a doppler just in case I can't find a heartbeat.

I'm sure that I'm being silly and I do suffer with anxiety after having PND following DC2 but ust wish this would hurry up and pass.

Perhaps some humourous tales of pregnancy might help?

Hi staceyk how far did they put you back? It's so fustrating to loose days/weeks , they put me back 3 weeks from 9th Sept to the 30th! I'm on the October thread btw, come and join us

sorry LJ29 didn't mean to ignore you! Try not to stress the chances of anything going wrong at this stage are so small....

Here's my attempt to cheer you up, well it made me laugh anyway.

I invested in some new maternity clothes as this is number three and all the others are getting a bit threadbare. Thought I'd treat myself so got some jeans and an olive green cardigan/waistcoat thingy from Mamas and Papas. The first time I wore them my dd (3 years) said 'ohh mummy you look beautiful!' what a great confidence boost, just what i needed.... 'yes' she says 'you look just like Shrek!'.....hmmmm, not exactly the look I was going for. I see her point though, green waistcoat and a huge belly! Bless her, she really thought it was a compliment

LJ29, am with you on the worries - I have my 16 week check tomorrow afternoon, am 16+4, and I have also found myself pretty nervy, am much worse than I was before my 12 week scan. Does the MW listen for the HB in this check? Have had no contact with her since my booking in at 8 weeks, so haven't a clue what actually happens. Probably not much if my first estimation of her is correct..

Twinklegreen, LOL at Shrek, just the look every pg lady aims for!

Report
audreyraines · 30/03/2009 14:56

LOL at shrek too!
my MW is away with carpal tunnel syndrome, and i can't get hold of her, so not even sure if i'll have a 16 week check (am 17 weeks this wed). eh well. i'm not too nervy about these things so happy to let it tick along.

Afternoon all - hope you all had relaxing weekends. I didn't have to work much so was very pleased!

Love the story about Shrek Twinklegreen, kids are great like that.

Don't worry LJ29, you are not alone in your worries. I only hear the baby's heart beat on Thursday evening and already I am starting to worry! Also starting to get nervous about my "20" week scan (taking place at 21 weeks) as only just over two weeks to wait.

I get some reassurance from looking around at all the other babies around and thinking, "well if they can do it, why can't i?"

lol at Shrek - bless her My 4 yr old ds said to me yesterday "Mummy if you keep eating all those biscuits, you'll turn into a big biscuit" You see, that's what happens when you say these silly things to your children - they have a habit of returning the compliment at the most inopportune times e.g when you're at dinner at someone else's house!

My cold has gone. Sinusitis is lingering but a combination of sterimar and hot flannels on the face whilst massaging the sinuses is helping. Glad I didn't get penicillin in the end. I can at least cope with it the way it is now.

Thanks ladies, I'm sure you're all right. Trying to keep myself busy to distract myself. At least DH is not on nights this week so I don't have to sit by myself of an evening worrying myself silly!

DC's do chose their timing tho LadyLush. My DD thinks that my maternity jeans are hilarious and thinks nothing of pulling my top up to show everyone!

erhianj - I had my 16 week check this morning. She just went through my notes (from my scan, and I've seen a consultant since I last saw her), did a urine test, took my blood pressure, took some blood tests (don't think this is normal but I'm having my thyroid monitored), listened to the babies heartbeat, and measured from my pubic bone to the top of the utereus (I think - its at my belly button, does that sound right) and that's about it.
Heartbeat was lovely and strong.
Just 3 weeks and 3 days till the scan!

oo - very small point about dating. I'm due on 13 September. So I reckoned I was 16+1 today, but my midwife said I was 16+2.
I thought my weekly number change was on Sunday (I'm due on a Sunday) but should it actually be on Saturday?

I couldn't sleep at all last night.
Not much fun.
