Rachey1969 · 24/05/2005 16:52

Er, no! She has a lot on her plate at the mo, my dad has vascular dementia and they are trying to move him from hospital to a nursing home, he is doubly incontinent and totally out of it - we think the move would see him off. My mum is very depressed and I want to make sure when I tell her it's happy news not more worry! However, I think I will tell her soon, not sure if I'll wait till I go down and see her in about 2 weeks to do it face to face.

chezie · 24/05/2005 17:04

Oh rachey Im so sorry abut your dad, it must be hard seeing him like that. My parents said they would emigrate if I had any more kids, then the day after i found out no 3 was on the way. I left it a wk before I asked them when they were going to book their tickets for Australia, it took 5 mins for the penny to drop. you should have seen their faces... I think they seriously considered moving house and not leaving a forwarding address.
I think they are getting used to the idea now.

Tabs · 25/05/2005 06:17

Morning ladies! Just popping in from the Feb 06 thread to say hi, as I'm on my own over there at the moment (found out yesterday at 3+4 so quite early really).

Anybody else find it hard to sleep at first - not sure if it's hormones or just nervous excitement, but have been up over an hour already!

Chuffed · 25/05/2005 09:11

Hey Tabs, yes it was one of the 'signs' I think, difficulty sleeping. It has settled down now as the exhaustion keeps kicking in. Come play with us for a while.
Chezie are you living in Aus? Where abouts?

chezie · 25/05/2005 09:48

No I dont live in Oz.... just meant my parents said in jest that they would move to Australia if I had any more kids. well I hope they were joking!

fisil · 25/05/2005 10:03

Hi, can I crash your thread to tell you that I am virtually giving away all my maternity clothes, which were mostly bought for a Jan baby. Look on the For Sale thread. And good luck - it's wonderful when the little one finally arrives!

Chuffed · 25/05/2005 10:03

oh would have thought they'd want to stick around. We're from NZ and our families miss dd like crazy we are always getting guilt trips from them.
Had a tiny pang of nausea this morning getting out of the shower after the gym this morning but it passed thank goodness - hoping for no more.

Rachey1969 · 25/05/2005 10:22

Where in NZ are you from Chezie? My sister (a midwife!) and her two kids live in Kerikeri and my brother and his two kids live in Auckland, one of my best friends who I met when preg with ds1 has just emigrated to Auckland - it's such a long way away! Wish I had 3k to go and visit them, haven't seen em since Jan 2003.

Rachey1969 · 25/05/2005 10:23

Sorry, I mean Chuffed! I find concentration and focus difficult....!

Chuffed · 25/05/2005 10:56

dh and I are both from Auckland, have been here for 5 and a bit years after a year in Sydney.
Looks like we will be heading back next year so the kids get to grow up with relatives all around and beaches etc as London is great but it isn't the same for growing kids.

Rachey1969 · 25/05/2005 11:11

Good for you! I've been over twice recently and it's a fabulous place for kids. My brother's son had been excluded twice from primary school here (little darling!) but has won a place in the sports academy in Auckland. I envy you the beach/barbie lifestyle and the weather!!! We have the beaches here but sadly not the sun. I'm not sure I could move though - I don't have the citizenship and my kids' father is here.

chezie · 25/05/2005 11:24

I have unintentionally totally confused you all, so I wil set the record straight. I am from Lancashire

chezie · 25/05/2005 11:27

Is everyone feeling ok today? My DH has just cooked some pasta for his diner and I usually love it but I didnt fancy it today and now the house stinks and its knocking me SICK.

Rachey1969 · 25/05/2005 11:31

It's hard to keep up without a face, isn't it! Shall we do our stats for a bit of context? I'll kick off:

Me 35
dp 30
ds1 11
ds2 9
dd 7
(all by ex h)
Due from Jan 1st on - need dating!
I work full-time from home mainly (hence stuck to pc) but do a fair bit of travelling

Have I left anything out?

Rachey1969 · 25/05/2005 11:32

Yes! I'm finding it really hard to cook or even enter the kitchen zone but I can sure as hell eat! Nauseous/retchy all the time but when I don't eat feel hungry/shaky.

horseshoe · 25/05/2005 11:55

Hello all,

just a quick update.
Had some very sore pain in my side and so had some test to rule out ectopic and then they are checking for infection.

Just had a cheese and onion crisp and my taste buds are so sensitive my tounge feels like it is burning! Is this normal? I didn't have this with DD.

I'm at work and have had to call off a lunch as I seriously need a cat nap. nearly missed my train stop this morning through sleeping.

GeorgieM · 25/05/2005 11:59

Hello ladies. Have just found this part of MN (am a MN virgin!) and thought I'd join in the fun as am due on 14 Jan 06. Currently sick as a pig and living off Lucozade and toast with the odd bowl on Weetabix thrown in (or up!). Am also half women half duvet. DD, who is 3 1/2, thinks it hilarious that I fall asleep on the couch every afternoon when we're watching a DVD for quiet time. Just wishing away the next five and a bit weeks until I get to magic 12 weeks, have scan and hopefully see that all is OK. Hope everyone else coping and not feeling like pants all day long!

Chuffed · 25/05/2005 12:20

ok
me: 30
dh: 28
dd: 13mth
due: dr says 4th Jan, I think about 14th so will see when I finally get a scan.

NZ'ers living in London moving back to NZ next year after 6yrs away.
Feel OK, feel like I need to eat constantly but haven't really felt sick or been sick except felt a bit nauseous after 45 min spinning class this morning probably because my blood sugar got a bit low.
Georgie sorry you are also feeling so grim...I hope I don't get this sick.

Rachey1969 · 25/05/2005 12:28

Oh yes, roll on 12 weeks (whenever that will be!) I find I really crave tasty food/drink and cheese n onion crisps are my favourite antidote for ms!

Chuffed · 25/05/2005 12:44

never really had ms with dd but did crave salt and vinegar crisps.
Yes roll on 12wks.

hotmama · 25/05/2005 14:32

Hiya girls,

Any room for one more?

My period was due last Friday and I did two clearblue digital tests that were negative, done a normal clearblue test to day and BIG FAT CROSS! By my calculations I will be due on 29th January 2006 - if everything goes O.K. Going to the Docs tomorrow morning. As dd was 9 days late - I may well be in Feb 06 post-natal thread.

I had a dd last October and I am still on maternity leave - oops! I am 38 so I didn't want to big an age gap - but this is a surprise!

Rachey1969 · 25/05/2005 14:41

Congratulations and welcome! How crafty of you to get two lots of maternity leave back to back - will you have to go back in between or can you take parental leave or summat?

hotmama · 25/05/2005 14:45

When I go back in August, I have got loads of annual leave to take - all this years allocation plus my carry forward from the previous leave year - I have been on maternity leave since last August.

When I go back I am taking my annual leave a couple of days until December - by which time I will be going on maternity leave - if everything goes O.K!

Rachey1969 · 25/05/2005 14:55

Good for you! Sadly, I can't carry annual leave over to next year if I'm going to be on maternity leave so if I take most of next year's annual leave when I go back and a spot of paid and unpaid parental leave, I could be off until September which saves a bit on childcare. I'd like to take the unpaid leave and have a year off but I don't think the mortgage could stand it, especially if we have to convert the loft to make another bedroom.

Eshay · 25/05/2005 15:25

Here's me:

me 32
dh 33
ds born 8 july 04 so now 10.5 months
edd 19 jan

I am still on maternity leave too. I left last year in May and am going back on the 6th of June. Only to tell my boss that I'm pregnant again! It was great having a whole year off (plus some holidays) but I don't think the same will happen this time around. It's just too expensive. Then again, so is childcare so we'll have to see.

With so much talk of New Zealand here I feel I should mention dh is a Kiwi (Wellington). I, however am from The Netherlands. Have lived in the UK for 5 years, might move to NL in 2.

Hotmama, you really are hot, having the second one already. And here's me and Sweetkitty thinking we're fast...
