Hi milosmum

Yes I'm in Didsbury, how about you?
Day off work today : washing, packing, out for lunch with dh (assembly I think, if you know it?) and the afternoon in bed. Those are the plans anyway. And you?

lyra41 · 27/05/2005 07:34

Sweetkitty

Thanks for your food advice, it's good to have a food microbiologist to ask!!! Lucky us.

Anyone know of a service like "Life Laundry?" It was on TV a while ago. They come over to your house and help you tidy up properly, sling out junk and store stuff in a tidy way. Our spare room (soon to be baby's room I hope) is overflowing with junk, as is the loft (supposed to be the playroom). I don't know why I can't get round to doing it myself, but I don't seem to be able to.

Mak and All. Had 6 week scan yesterday and have ONE healthy heartbeat. Very very relieved. Baby due on 12th January 2006. Very tired and hard work looking after 14 month DS but not complaining. I try to fo to sleep when he sleeps. DOesn't always work out.

Chances of m/c now less than 5%. Gorgeous, huge black doctor and I found it quite embarrasing as last time I saw him, he was mms away from my bits. However, he wasn't phased. He was very pleased with himself.

Feel so blessed and looking forward to a healthy and happy pregnancy.

Flumpette · 27/05/2005 08:28

Me, me, me. Sorry, meant to say CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!

Chuffed · 27/05/2005 09:13

morning everybody...Congrats to all our newbies.
The rule I used when pregnant last time was nothing cooked then cooled (ie. roast vegetable salad), nothing smoked, everything pasturised. Tuna max of 3 times a week (ie sandwich).
Feeling lots better today - went to the gym this morning and did have to do a quick dive for a biscuit (in my bag) after getting out of the shower but all and all sitting at my desk sipping lucozade feeling fine.
No word from the hospital yet about scan dates etc, will chase next week if I don't hear anything.

horseshoe · 27/05/2005 09:16

hello all and congrats to everyone.

Well it's been a wirlwind week. After a bit of spotting week before went to EPU. As I was only 5+2 they decided to have blood test to measure HCG levels so had that done on tuesday with the view to have them again yesterday to see if they had doubled.

But then EPU called on wednesday saying first bloods came back at 5000 and so I was probably a little further on then I thought I was so yesterday I went for a scan.

My dates are correct and we could only see sac and so now I have another scan in 2 weeks to see just how many heartbeats are showing as increased levels of HCG could indicate twins

Anyway the short of it is, whatever and how many babies I have, I am having a normal, happy, blissful pregnancy.

I'm loving feeling sick, tired etc

Heres my stats

ME- 24
DP-29
DD1 - aged 2 1/2
TTC - 2 years
DUE - 22 Jan

Eshay · 27/05/2005 09:46

I can't believe the amount of postig going on here, especially this early in the morning! It's hard to keep track of everything but I'm loving it. Especially since I have a lot of extra time today as DS is trying out his nursery. I'm feeling a bit lonely.

About what not to eat during pg: has anyone mentioned peanuts? Apparently they could cause eczema and allergies if there is a history in the family. Hoummus should be fine as that is just ground up chickpeas with some garlic, oil and lemon (Tried to make it myself last week but I have to admit it wasn't very good. Too much lemon!).

Last time around I also heard that you should not eat veg that have been lying around in the fridge for more than a few days. Not sure what the reasoning behind that was.

Other things that are on my list:
Raw, undercooked, soft scrambled eggs or anything made with raw or lightly cooked eggs (homemade mayonnaise and custard).
Ice cream from soft whip machines.
Raw veg sprouts like alfalfa and radish.
Limited caffeine.

I find it quite confusing at times as different websites come up with completely different things you're not meant to eat.

The most important thing I discovered is that cream cheese is okay. I avoided it all of my last pg as I thought it might be bad since it is quite soft. Cottage cheese is okay too.

TFI Friday! Wow - Loads of activity and lots of good news too with scans - how lovely! and we're in for a nice weekend! My kids are with their dad this weekend so I have a nice few days, hopefully can drag dp away from kitchen renovations and get down the beach

Lyra41 - I'm in Wales, near the Gower (but I'm from Brighton) where are you going on your hols?

BTW My version of hummus - a 140z can of chickpeas liquidised/blended with a small 5oz carton of natural yoghurt - add black pepper, olive oil, garlic and lemon juice to taste. You could add tahini but personally I don't like it.

Eshay · 27/05/2005 11:05

Rachey, that sounds like it might be a lot better than what I managed to whip up the other day. I'll try that.

Rachey1969 · 27/05/2005 11:24

My sister in NZ has just sent me this in an email so I thought I'd pass it on to you - apparently it's National Girlfriend/sister's day. I don't normally do sentimental nonsense but hey I'm pregnant!

I am only as strong as the coffee I drink, the hairspray I use and the friends I have.

hunkermunker · 27/05/2005 11:34

Hi ladies

Feel I ought to join you since I got a BFP last Friday.

Not sure how far on I am - by dates, I should be seven weeks tomorrow and due on 14th January, but by cycle length it might be less than that. I've been doing comedy retching since a week last Tuesday though, which might indicate further on - wow, this has turned into a stream of consciousness!)

My stats:

Me - 30 next month
DH - 33
DS - 13mo
TTC - not long at all! DS was conceived on my first cycle of Clomid - I have endometriosis and PCOS so am amazed to have fallen pg naturally!
Due - see above

Chuffed · 27/05/2005 11:43

Hey HM - welcome to our thread!

hunkermunker · 27/05/2005 12:16

Hiya Chuffed! Hey, perhaps I'll go and post on our post-natal thread now too! How are you feeling? When are you due? I know - I could skim this thread, but I'm not gonna

Chuffed · 27/05/2005 12:22

felt a bit crap yesterday but fine today. Managed 3x spinning classes this week [proud icon]

I think I'm due about the 14th but haven't even got my appointment for my scan yet and going on last periods due 4th Jan but I'm pretty sure that's wrong.

hunkermunker · 27/05/2005 12:24

Wow! Very impressed! I managed to fall into bed knackered each day this week and had a nap yesterday morning while DS slept [sleepy emoticon] I did work 30 hours too though

We may be due the same day then!

Tabs · 27/05/2005 12:32

Hi Ladies - posting this on behalf of hotmama!

Unfortunately she for some reason can't post on this thread anymore, so was wondering if you'd all mind if she started a 'Due in Jan 06 - thread 2' thread so that she doesn't have to miss out?!

Rachey1969 · 27/05/2005 12:36

Congratulations Hunkermunker! It probably is time for a new thread now, isn't it? this one is very long -shame we can't take the stats with us, I shall lose track.

GeorgieM · 27/05/2005 12:43

Morning all. DD at pre-school today as can get some time to myself and see how you've all been. Blimey, there's so may new people. Congrats to all newbies. And how come some of you are having scans at 8 weeks and I have to wait until 12 weeks? Am totally lost as DD was born in New York and am used to American system. My GP/hosptial seems to be rather laid back even though I told him that this was going to be high risk pg (will need cerclage at 14 weeks).

Oh and can I just ask whether any one else has been feeling v tearful and incredibly emotional? Not sure whether I want to weep or rip someones head off!

And Rachey, am v jealous that you are on beautiful Gower. Used to go out with guy that lived in Mumbles when I was at Uni. But that's another story!!!

milosmum · 27/05/2005 14:57

hi all- hope evryones not too sick

feeling really sick 2day nut not done anything so far!

lyra- im in Swinton!!

Congrats to HM

chezie · 27/05/2005 15:52

Hi everyone. Late posting today... DS2 was awake at4.30am today. I wasnt amused but what can you do? He still wakes during the night and I can only get him back to sleep with with BFeed. I'm hoping he will grow out of this before new baby comes. Find controlled crying very difficult to do. Feeling tired today.. I was looking forward to BIG BROTHER tonight but I dont think I will stay awake late enough to see the idiots go into the house! Anyone else sad enough to watch it?

Rachey1969 · 27/05/2005 16:45

Yes tearful and emotional! I am not due to see a midwife until 12 wks and not due a scan until 18 wks! However I am unsure of my edd - I have had only a handful of periods in the last 3 yrs on the mini pill and the mirena coil. Had the coil out on March 11 and have had sudden heavy bleeding with clots on March 14 and 28 (not really period like) so when did I ovulate? I didn't notice any of my usual signs. If it was 2 wks after March 28 then I am 9 wks on Monday but it could have been earlier or later. I had my first bfp 4 weeks ago. Made a nuisance of myself with the community midwife so I will probably get a dating scan before 14 weeks. I suggest you do too!

Gower is lovely, hoping to get to a quiet beach tomorrow. As social life suddenly gone quiet (both me and bf are pg) I shall probably be glued to BB too!

Rachey1969 · 27/05/2005 16:52

D'oh just noticed new thread - Due Jan 06 2 - see you over there!

CathyAnn · 01/06/2005 13:22

Gosh - what a lot of babies due in January! Congrats to all. I'm due 26th Jan, but since I have absolutely NO symptoms, I'm a bit worried to be honest. Fingers crossed.

teuch · 01/06/2005 13:34

Congrats CathyAnn...this thread became too long so we are all over on the Due January 06 - Thread 2 board...

See you there - you have same due date as me!
