aaaahhhhh BoffinMum your DS is very sweet. I like the fact that he is clearly well brought up so felt he had to say thank you for the good bits, even while running away due to the lack of Lego.

DP and DS are back from birthday party - DS wouldn't leave and had to be hauled out bodily, DP looks exhausted poor lamb. Think he has suffered enough now, so I put DS to bed and am now being cooked piri piri chicken. Hooray.

I think I've spent about 70% of the time since I went on leave sleeping. It's a very good thing.

Anyone else RAVENOUS? I just keep eating, and have a weird hunger for milk products - particularly milkshake. Not healthy, home made, lovely milkshake, but crappy supermarket milkshake with colourings and loads of sugar Finished the banana one this afternoon and have just polished off a strawberry Frijj.

BabyBolat, think you and I should snychronise labours - sending you baby vibes over t'internet!

frekkles · 14/03/2009 20:44

periwinkle?

thanks darling, and just thinking about the pain you and boff have been in really stops me moaning. how are you feeling now?

i painted my nursery room yesterday, tis a soft appley green. tis really nice. I'm going to get john to put a baby hammock on his credit card this week

WhatFreshHellIsThis · 14/03/2009 20:47

frekkles there is a horrid bug going around that I thought might be labour when I had it

lots of back pain, upset tummy and general blergh feeling. if it is that, hope you feel better soon!

frekkles · 14/03/2009 20:47

hey fresh! I'm very jealous of your sleeping ability. I'm finding it impossible to manage more than a couple of hours in a row, due to bladder, restless legs, sore back and restless bump issues. grrrr...

so this labour thing, if i'm 34 weeks it could theoretically happen now eh? what am i to look out for? i don't think i've had any braxton hicks, so i'm probably not going to be early am i?

frekkles · 14/03/2009 20:49

x posts fresh..... ooooh yes that's what i've been thinking. ..... i hope it is a bug and i'm not going to feel this crap for the rest of the pregnancy! I definately don't want the baby yet, too much to do still!

mumblemumhome4lunch · 14/03/2009 20:51

Evening all.

Boff - love your DS2, soooo cute and adorable.

WFH & conker - I've heard from a couple of friends who tried potty training close to birth of their next one that both theirs regressed completely when the baby was born, so might be worth thinking about that. Mind you I've just put DD to bed tonight without her bedtime nappy for the first time. Feels really weird because she's only 2.2 & has been dry for about 3wks solid now, and DS is very nearly 4 and his nappy hits the bathroom floor every morning like a lead balloon (!) AND he still has regular daytime accidents, of both kinds, two poos this week alone [seriously frustrated smiley]

I'm heavily into the positive thinking this week in terms of getting baby on the move - really could just do with it here now.....I've put my maternity mats down in all the strategic places and am doing as much strenuous stuff as I can manage with my back playing up. With DS I was at point-to-point on GrandNational day all day, got really over excited winning on some races and jumped a number of styles, stopped off to buy a new hoover on way home and waters broke in Curreys, some am trying same approch. Am having trouble convincing DH in the s.e.x dept as he's worried about my back but am going to double my efforts, arguing it'll take my mind off the pain

DS passed his first stage swimming lessons today so felt v.proud especially as he only started this term. Best thing is this term finishes 1 week before baby is due, and because he can change to the next class up DH should be able to take him at the same time as he takes DD to the Parent&Child class after the Easter break ie when baby is here. So I will have most of Saturday morning to myself + baby.

Going to run a bath now and see if that helps with back......hopefully DH will be back from the supermarket before I need/want to get out as suspect I'll need some help

WhatFreshHellIsThis · 14/03/2009 20:52

don't think braxton hicks are any indicator - some people get loads and still go overdue, some people don't get any at all, or don't notice them.

34 weeks would still be classed as premature and there are risks of breathing problems, although they get less likely every day, so it's better to wait until 37 if you can!

I can sleep like a champion during the day - night time is more tricky, I get sore back, sore hips and wake up for no reason whatsoever around 3am every night. Luckily now I'm on mat leave I can sleep during the day if I want to, yay!

SmuttyNuttyTaff · 14/03/2009 20:55

Frekkles - some people dont get BH i didnt with dd. yeah not too bad now the drugs have kicked in Hooray lol. Yay for the hammock the nursery sounds lovely

WFH - my downfall is wotsits at the moment, cant get enough of them lol at snychronised labours

hey mumblemum! so you're another one trying to win the labour race! I'm quite happy to wait for my due date personally, too much to do!

I have a mental image of you all lined up waiting for the april ready steady go. I think i may commetate. I'm bound to be last

Schulte · 14/03/2009 21:01

Evening ladies! Boff, what a cute story about your DS2, did you have to try hard not to laugh? Frekkles, sorry to hear about bug, hope you'll get better quickly. Lots of rest etc. Nutty, is your DD's earache gone?

Went to a baby shower today - one of my friends had organised it for 8 pregnant women who are all expecting their second baby around the same time (and our first DCs are all about the same age too) and there were lots of funny games and lots of cakes too so really enjoyed myself. Came home to happy DD who seems to be on the mend at last... touch wood.

Then learned that DH had spent a whole hour (!) trying to fit the buggy board to our buggy and he said it wasn't working very well as the buggy kept falling over backwards (like when you hang shopping bags from the handles), and that the buggy board was clearly very badly designed and not meant for MacLaren buggies! I pointed out that almost every buggy board I had seen so far had been attached to a MacLaren and there was a picture of one on the front of the box as well, and then I went and tried to fit it myself and it took me all of 5 minutes.

I knew his DIY skills were poor but THAT bad?

To be fair I have had some serious DIY training putting Ikea furniture together in my previous life

mumblemumhome4lunch · 14/03/2009 21:01

Bath is running but realise I'mm all out of bubbles and can't stand smell of kiddies bubble bath DS chose the other week - bubbless bath just not the same

I've been getting BHs for a good 6-7 wks and have done both times before - couple of days early with no1 and couple of days late with no2 so don't think it's much of a guideline.

Have checked my baby books and keep re-reading the bit that sayd labour can start feeling like backache but think this has been going on too long for that ! Unfortunately have read today that SPD can be experience as backache too and now starting to get worried

frekkles · 14/03/2009 21:02

ok nutty and fresh, so it could be any time then? Aagh, i'm so unorganised and undecided. haven't even decided if i want to have it at home or in hosp yet.

have you got what you're doing sorted yet nutty? are they going to let you have a cs?

bloody boyfriend is out tonight, leaving poorly heavily pregnant girlfriend to fend for herself. wouldn't mind but he's not answering his phone either. bet it's ran out of battery. stupid boy.

SmuttyNuttyTaff · 14/03/2009 21:04

Mumble - Hooray for your ds the bath should help ((hugs for the back pain))

Frekkles - i will join you in the commentry, i'm last on the list and unfortunately my dates are pretty much spot on, i asked my MW if there was any possibility at all of me going early, and in the nicest possible consoling way she said not to get my hopes up but she would be extremely happy for me to get it out of the way at 37 weeks. still have 7 weeks to go bah!

DH just back from the supermarket via B&Q and, more importantly, the chippy so bath going on hold for chicken, chips and mushy peas.

Now I know why I married him a week ago

Hey, now that's a great excuse for sex tonight.....our weeks anniversary

Schulte · 14/03/2009 21:07

Chicken, chips and mushy peas... yum... enjoy!

Schulte · 14/03/2009 21:08

By the way I learned today that for second timers apparently the afterpains are much worse? Anyone can confirm this?

Schulte · 14/03/2009 21:09

Oh and, DH is thinking about moving to Vancouver when DC2 is a few months old - we'd have to go with him obviously - not sure.... any opinions?

SmuttyNuttyTaff · 14/03/2009 21:10

Schulte - thank you for asking she seems loads better ta, she was screeching round the garden today Men just dont get baby diy lol and i second the ikea training

Mumble - do you have any aromatherapy oils? pop a drop or 2 in the bath and some scented candles around the bathtub

Frekkles - they're letting me go naturally, but i have to go in straight away for an epidural rather than waiting at home.

Schulte I read that the afterpains are worse second time around too - but nothing too unbearable.

And labour is meant to be easier!

frekkles · 14/03/2009 21:17

ok nutty, Let's look at early favourite Boffinmum, arguably the most experienced horse to run, and may well be running for the last time in the April races making this contest all the more special for her fans. The fine lass has already has considerable success in 3 previous races over a 22 year period, and despite some mobility worries in training she's in a positive OPEN state of mind for this competition. A serious contendor for the title.

What say you nutty though about her competition. there's some excellent girls in the starting line up aren't there?

Schulte · 14/03/2009 21:18

Apparently when it comes to pushing, you cough twice and baby falls out
