Hello everyone and Congratulations on your BFP
Mind if I join in?
I got A BFP yesterday after doing a test thinking it would be negetive and that it would make my period start! I have 2 ds's already aged 2 and 5 and we had decided not to have anymore children so am still feeling abit in
But mothernature has decided we will have no. 3 so here we go!
I'm due 11th November

Cies · 10/03/2009 14:44

Hello all

I'm very cautiously going to put my name on the list.

I did a test this morning even though I've had 3 days of very light spotting. I thought it was my period beginning. But no, it's a BFP!

I've already had two early m/cs so am not getting my hopes up too far yet. I very luckily managed to get a doc's appointment for this afternoon so I can get referred to the emergency gynae service at the hospital for a scan to see what's happening. And I need to get bloods done asap because I have underactive thryroid which will need to be treated.

I've calculated my due date as 10th November.

All my apendages are crossed at the moment.

Catitainahatita · 10/03/2009 15:18

Hello girls.

There are two threads? It sounds like we need to come together and make one big happy family.

It's either that or we declare war on the inauthentic and frankly copying thread no.2. How dare they, what a cheek

I'm all for option 1.

Cies Hello and welcome. I understand where you are coming from; m/c make all pregnancies really traumatic. Hope you get your scan soon. In the meantime take it easy.

I've got all my appendages crossed for you too.

helips · 10/03/2009 18:21

The other thread is under pregnancy, sorry no idea how to link! Maybe we could gently persuade the others over here

Felt some slight nausea this afternoon, not sure if it's ms or just my mind playing tricks! Hopefully the latter! Also, don't know what is going on with my tastebuds but this afternoon I eat some cheese and it tasted of grass very strange but at least I haven't gone off chocolate!

Congrats and welcome tigger32 and cies, good luck with your scan cies.

piper84 · 10/03/2009 18:41

Big welcome to Cies and Tigger32 and anybody else who has joined us

Was so tempted to ring the hospital today and see what the story is with my scan, I'm in ireland and they dont tend to do the first scan till week 12-15. Seems like such a long way away and findeing it hard to keep busy and stop obbsessing thinking about it all the time

Has anybody else got a scan date yet? maybe i can shift my obbsession onto someone else

ursigurke · 10/03/2009 20:47

I haven't heared from the hospital yet. I had left a note for the GP about my hospital choice last tuesday. I found it a bit strange that I didn't get a real appointment and just had to leave a note. So I went there today to ask again. It was a bit strange, they asked me again which hospital it was and one receptionist finally said: It has been dealt with. but I was almost sure it was a lie. At least they hopefully dealt with it today. And I asked again if I had to contact the midwives myself. Apparentely in my case they are located in the hospital and I will be contacted by them. And I didn't even get that NHS pregnancy book as they were still waiting for the delivery.
I am really disappointed by the system. They tell you to see a GP as soon as you know about your pregnancy and that the first 12 weeks are the most important ones and so far I have my whole knowledge from books and internet. I guess I should start to get some information of how to deliver your baby by yourself
Anyway, I've decided not to worry about this scan anymore. After all, it is only a picture and not a treatment so whatever happens happens and the scan doesn't change it.
I do feel pregnant, I am happy that I feel a bit sick every day, not too much though, I sometimes feel a slight pain and it is not only in one side anymore, so I suppose that everything is going according to plan.

Today, I told my parents and my brothers (sister already knew). Everybody seems to be very happy so it has been a nice day for me.

scarlotti · 10/03/2009 22:08

Hello ladies

Just a quick hello from me.
I'll see if someone in MN HQ can do something to merge the threads - or if not, we'll just choose one!

Chat tomorrow, off to bed now

weston · 10/03/2009 22:12

yes its very vague when you actual get pregnant, basically you don't need to see the doctor and first contact is with nurser at around 8 weeks to make your 12 week appt and then a midwife comes around 10 weeks to fill in your green book!

right waaay past me bedtime adios

Cies · 10/03/2009 22:49

Hello all,

ursigurke, sounds annoying that no one is telling you the truth.

I live in Spain so the system is rather different. It seems more medicalised than UK.

Well, I went to my GP this afternoon, who gave me referals to OB/GYN and bloods. But she also told me to go to A&E because of the bleeding and because I had high blood pressure. So off I trot (luckily with a book) and wait for an hour to see the on call OB/GYN. A lovely female doctor saw me, scanned me and told me to pee in a pot. Then I had to wait another hour or so for the results. When I got called back in there was a different doctor there, a man, who was so unfriendly and cold it's unbelievable.

He scanned me again (internally) and for the two minutes he manipulated the probe inside me did not utter a word or lift his eyes from the screen. No reassuring noises even. I then mentioned the high blood pressure, and the fact that my GP had found it worrying.

"Tell your GP not to invent problems" he told me.

I was by this time fighting back tears. I didn't know what he'd seen on the scan or what the pg test had shown. Eventually the nurse took my bp (145/94 which is high for me) and said it was normal considering the stressful situation.

The doc then studiously ignored me while he wrote up his notes. I'm to go back to the hospital for blood tests in a week and a fortnight. I suppose it's to check for rising HSG levels. He of course didn't explain it to me. I was feeling too delicate to ask him any more, as he obviously thought I was wasting his time and the hospital's resources.

It's cast such a pall over what should be a happy day.

Actually, there is good news. He said that the bleeding so far is insignificant, and I shouldn't worry unless it gets much heavier.

Good night all. Hope the beans stick.

QueenNeurosis · 11/03/2009 06:41

Hi,

5 weeks 1 day pregnant... told a friend yesterday as I had a v traumatic mc last year and am beside myself with worry. Constant knicker checking, boob squeezing, symptom googling... she really recommended this site. I've had my initial appointment - they were fantastic - and am waiting for the midwife to contact me at 10 weeks. Due Nov 10th but desperately trying not to get my hopes up. Don't know how people can be so happy so early on... I've been telling the girlfriends who helped me out last year, just in case it happens again!

Not feeling sick at all which is worrying me although the London tube map has appeared on my very sore boobs and my lower back is in agony... need a forklift to roll over in bed. And the thirst thing. What's that about?!

I'd really love to join this thread if I may, and would really appreciate any reassurance re how this pregnancy is more likely to end in success that otherwise... even if you have to lie to me.

Thanks! And hello all! Congrats on your pregnancies.

QN

ButtercupWafflehead · 11/03/2009 08:39

Hi everyone, and especially QueenNeurosis and other new people to this thread!

I'm still here, haven't told anyone (except you lovely ladies!) and feel alright - not really sick but a bit queasy now and again, a bit achey and fat!!! I kid you not, I seem to have bloated and am wondering whether I should get some situps in before my stomach muscles start to seperate!

QueenNeurosis, All we can do is sit it out, hope, and try to enjoy it. Easier said than done, I know. We're all in the same boat - these first twelve weeks are a bit of an uncertain time I guess but here's hoping all of us come out the other side feeling much more secure.

Anyone got any advice re: feeling achey and fat?! I mean, I have like 34 weeks of weight gain to go, don't really want to have started already!

scarlotti · 11/03/2009 08:41

QN there's quite a few of us in your situation. We tend to do our neurotic ranting here and there are many ladies in all stages of pg who've been through all variety of m/c's. Come along, you'll get your reassurance.

Cies for you re the doc. Some people are so insensitive.

waves at everyone else as about to rush out the door

ButtercupWafflehead · 11/03/2009 08:41

PS QueenNeurosis, there is a thread called "Knicker checkers anonymous" with lots of ladies who are pg after miscarriage, perhaps pop onto there and introduce yourself and they may have some wise words! Good luck!

ursigurke · 11/03/2009 09:17

QueenNeurosis - sorry to hear about your mc last year. Almost all women I know have had at least one mc in their life. I guess it's something we all have to go through so you should just think you have had yours already and this time everything will be fine.
We all have to go to those first 12 weeks but in the end most pregnancies actually end with a healthy baby so why should we not be part of the majority!
Enjoy your pregnancy symptoms and don't worry if you don't feel sick. Some women just don't and some get it a bit later. Every pregnancy is different.

ButtercupWafflehead - sorry don't have any advice for you but don't worry about your weight. You probably didn't gain any yet. But I think the digestion is working slower so it is important to eat things like cereals and drink a lot.

Cies - your experience with the male doctor seems really terrible and typical too. It's a shame that they do not care about the feelings of their patients. But at least you got good news so just forget about him!

LovelyPear · 11/03/2009 10:56

hello and congrats all! just popped over from the other thread in the preg section. do you think we should all transfer over here? the more the merrier I reckon!

tigger32 - sounds like we're in the same(ish) boat. My ds will be 1 yr on Sunday, and I was v shocked last Friday to discover I'm preg again! we were planning for another but not quite so soon! it has been a huge shock, but feeling v happy and excited now. although not enjoying feeling sick and dizzy whilst running after full of beans 12 month old!

Hello everyone,

lovelypear glad know someone else is in shock also! I'm starting to come to terms with it now but still have not told anyone except Dh ofcourse! I am really happy to be pregnant but am also worried about the big change for our family.

I can't believe some of experiences some of you are having with your doctors, its awful hopefully once we see our midwifes things will pick up!

cupcakefairy · 11/03/2009 13:21

Hi ladies,
I did say hello in the other thread but thought if this forum is the normal place for ante-natal threads, we should all convene here

I think I am due November 7th. It still totally doesn't feel real to me. DH and I feel like we are just pretending!! Haha.. will be much better once have been to doc's and told people. So desperate to tell my sisters!!
When are you all telling? Especially first-timers? I'm just worried that if we tell family they won't be able to help themselves spreading it round. It'll be the first grandchild on both sides so the mums have been onto us for a while!!

Anyone else been feeling really faint and dizzy?

tigger32 · 11/03/2009 13:30

Hi Cupcake, I've been feeling dizzy the last week or so, I don't remember it from my other pregnancies but I'm sure its all part of it!!

We are thinking of telling family on Mother's day when we are all together although I'm not if thats too soon? What is everyone else planning?

barnowl · 11/03/2009 13:43

Hi girls, I'm popping over from the other thread, mind if I join here too. I'm expecting #4 due 8th Nov. I'm not planning on telling until after my scan so it's nice to chat about how things are going. I have 2 DSs age 5 and 4 and a DD age 2. I'm getting more symtoms this time than with any of my others but at least it makes it seem more real so that's got to be good

ursigurke · 11/03/2009 13:52

We told our parents and siblings yesterday and today. Everybody seems to be very excited and a bit surprised. They didn't expect us to be so successful (got pregnant two days after the wedding, although I had planned it for the first day after )
My in-laws might not be able to keep the secret (in fact we "allowed" them two aunts) but I'm never in that village so I don't really care.
I had decided to tell them now (7th week) as I do not see any reason to hide it. If I had a mc I would tell them anyway.
I think I'll talk to my boss soon, as I want to avoid standing the whole day and carrying heavy stuff and I think he should know why.
All other friends will be informed after those first 12 weeks so I'm happy to be able to share on MN.

LovelyPear · 11/03/2009 14:34

thanks tigger, I know exactly how you feel - it's a funny old mix of emotions, but I think if it's meant to be then it's meant to be! Just go with the flow (man).

I told my mum last week when I first did the test as I was in so much shock and had to talk to someone straight away. Hubbie was at work and didn't want to give him a heart attack ! But we're planning to wait until we've had the scan and the magic 12 wks are up before we announce. That's why it's so great to chat here!

cupcakefairy, I've been feeling v dizzy and faint the last couple of days. Little bit of sickness but more sort of woozy feeling, and more in the mornings.
