Morning everyone

I'm in a pickle this morning, I don't know if anyone remembers but I had a scan last wk and was told that some of my waters had leaked and I have to go back next wk to make so that no more have gone. Well, last night I think I've leaked some more cos I had a couple of wet knicker times.
I know I should ring MW or hospital but what happens if I'm wrong or what happens if I'm right! I get upset in this pregnacy if thing s don't go right.
The other day I cried in my local supermarket cos I couldn't remember where the gravy was!!!!!! I'm sick of saying to people it's a pregnancy thing!

FiKelly · 06/03/2009 09:03

bantam yes i remember... i'd pluck up your nerve and phone them... better for it to be a false alarm than not... I don't know what happens if you're right but better to put your mind at rest before the weekend just in case. all of us get upset if things don't go right... it's just such a hormonal rollercoaster of emotions and worry this pregnancy lark is no lark!

llareggub have you checked the pilot light on the CH boiler? we had one that used to occasionally go out... and needed to be re-started. It was usually due to low water pressure... so a quick adjustment to that (although why water levels dropped is still a mystery) and hey presto working boiler

Morning all.

Just waiting for DD2's clothes to dry after she hurled cereal and milk all over them!

DH had to be up very, very early to deliver and collect a couple of cars down South today, I couldn't get back to sleep so made a drink and laid in bed watching tele. Wouldn't you guess that this would be the morning that DD2 slept in until 7.30 and I DIDN'T TAKE ADVANTAGE OF IT

Aaargh Balamory.......switch it off switch it off!!!

Looby best of luck (still) with your pay

Seb hope work isn't too stressful, hope this situation gets resolved without too much unpleasantness.

Momino There is an NCT sale round here shortly, what sort of stuff do they usually have - is is clothing and whatnot? Thinking of going, am sharpening my elbows in preparation Think I'm right in thinking you do these in York?

bantam73 · 06/03/2009 09:07

Hi FiKelly

I'm sat here at my computer taking deep breaths preparing myself for making the call!!!!!

SesHopesSpringwillbeheresoon · 06/03/2009 09:08

Llareggub - boo to no heating this morning. We had a few days without last week as our boiler broke and it's not fun. Hope you warm up soon.

bantam - agree with FiKelly. You know you need to phone them. Can completely understand your worry but better to phone them when you don't really need to. FWIW I remember someone on another thread saying they'd had waters leak at around 30 weeks and they just monitored them and checked how much water was left. From the sounds of things you haven't lost loads if it's given you wet knickers rather than puddles IYKWIM...

bantam you really must ring, go on!

Blinking Balamory here too, but I really must tidy up before the in-laws get here. It is like a bomb site, honestly. Toys everywhere!

I'm waiting for a call from the diabetes nurse because my blood sugar is raised this morning. I suspect is was the large bowl of cornflakes but I was so hungry and sleepy I couldn't be bothered to weigh the portion. Oh well! I have an afternoon of painting the nursery ahead of me so plenty of time to get it down through manual labour I guess.

FiKelly · 06/03/2009 09:30

just finished putting away all of the laundry and done dh's breakfast dishes... have yet to brush my hair and put face on.. but ds & i are dressed at least from taking the dog out this morning.. so that's a start!

Thank god for Justin Fletcher. DS now mesmerised by Something Special, so I get 15 minutes to put my feet up.

Belgianchocolates · 06/03/2009 11:05

Good morning everyone,

Gosh you've all been busy chatting since last night!

Detsy We got our sliding doors made to measure from here, because our ceilings are higher than standard + we wanted the doors to make one smooth wall in effect hiding the chimney, IYKWIM. To be honest, we just bought the doors and now we're trying to work out how to do the inside. Not the most organised way to go about things! Funnily enough that company was the cheapest we could find online and when we looked at the address, it was only around the corner from us, so we didn't pay for delivery and just collected them. We never even noticed the shop, even though we've been driving past the place at least once a week!

bantam like the others said: phone your hospital. Hopefully it's false alarm, but if it's confirmed, then you'll get monitored for infection and possibly started on a course of antibiotics just in case. Hope everything will be OK.

divedaisy Congrats on the shop. What sort of things are you selling? Skateboards?

I've just seen the cmw today. It wasn't my usual and it seems that I've gone from above the 90th to the 50th centile. I think it's the way she's measured, because I definitely don't feel the growth has slowed down! Baby's head down, so I can stop worrying about that now. It wasn't my usual mw, so I'll go back in 2 weeks and hopefully the growth will be a bit better.

Ooh, something very exciting just happened too. There was a knock on the door and they delivered the car seat! I wasn't expecting that until next week, so that was a nice surprise!

fi glad you had a better night's sleep. I feel much more rested too, even though I've been up for the toilet about every hour!

Anyone else's DH thinking that the birth is still far far away? He doesn't seem to be in a hurry to sort things out in the house that are important before the baby comes and it's really starting to annoy me, because I think I've starting to nest a little

Jael · 06/03/2009 11:28

Can't remember who it was that said they'd already put on their total weight gain, with another 9/10 weeks left. Me too lol I was so shocked when I weighed myself yesterday. I'm seriously going to have to diet/exercise seriously after this baby. Might join DP at SW. How long after having a CS can you start exercising? I'm ashamed to say, I've never really exercised in my life, so was thinkin bout maybe joining a couple of classes post baby. Jael X

Belgianchocolates · 06/03/2009 11:32

Jael That was me! Another reason I don't beleive that mw's measurement. Surely if I've put on enough weight for a whole pregnancy, my baby can't be small! I dread to think that all that weight gain is just me

llareggub · 06/03/2009 11:56

Jael I've got the Davina post-natal workout and she said something about leaving it 9-10 weeks before exercising after a c-section. I was definitely out and about walking though after about 3 weeks, obviously taking it slowly, but at 6 weeks post c-section I was walking quite far.

The physio at the hospital did give me some post op exercises to do, but I forgot all about them!

Jael · 06/03/2009 12:11

What's the Davina post natal work out like? I've got one of her workout dvd's must be almost 3 years old though and collecting dust I had an emergency CS last time, and was unfortunately one of the slow healers, I'm hoping it'll be better this time. I spent so much time ater DD birth sitting round in pain, I had no motivation to start exercising. I'm hoping my BIL wedding will give me something to aim for lol Jael X

BTW I've just read all ten pages of a thread a teenage mom to be has posted under ante-natal and I'm at some of the members of MN.

llareggub · 06/03/2009 12:33

It's an awful thread, isn't it?

I haven't done the post-natal yet, just the pre-natal one which is fine if you are in the 3rd trimester and unused to exercising, but probably if you are fit and energetic (unlike me) then it might not be too challenging.

Febes · 06/03/2009 12:57

We have the carpet being laid today and the dishwasher is being fixed. So its all go round here and bloody noisy!! DD is a asleep in her pushchair in the conservatory, DH is asleep on the couch as he worked night duty last night and they are all banging and crashing around. Its a mad house. All our furniture is stashed in the 2 bathrooms upstairs so that will all have to be sorted later but it will be nice to have finished the upstairs in time for the baby to be born. DD will move from our room into her own room so our room will be a baby free zone for 2 months!!
I love that my bump is big now and don't mind when people comment on how bg its got. I think its cause I now look PG and not just fat. I'll enjoy it while it lasts as it will soon be back to just fat.

pulapula · 06/03/2009 13:02

I think the advice after a cs is to wait around 10 weeks before exercising. I went to my local aquanatal class last time around 9 weeks after cs and the midwife said my stomach muscles still hadn't "knotted together" so i had to take things easy. I think they let women with "normal" deliveries go back to the class 6 weeks after baby.

I have put on at least 2 stone (28+4) which is what I put on by term with DS but its nothing compared to the 4 stone weight gain with DD so not panicking about it...

Grumpyoldcaaaaaaaa · 06/03/2009 13:05

Well I have just weighed myself in the middle of Boots!! I was 11st 11lbs before I was pregnant, I am now 13st 3lbs so about 1st 6lbs so far and a probable overall of between 2st & 2 st 7lbs so not too fussed.

And yes, I was bloody heavy to begin with - even at a small size 10 I was 'heavy' - must be my muscular thighs

Just got back from lovely aimless wander around the shops - bought some lipgloss - very important for a vast hippo pregnant lady.

Re Balamory - it's Miss Hoolie that does it for me, she makes me gnash my teeth in rage, I think it's the hair?

Justin, oh we love him soooooooo much

Tummum · 06/03/2009 13:15

Bantam Any news? Are you OK?

sophietom · 06/03/2009 13:32

hello all,
have just joined mumsnet (am due 25/5/09). So glad to hear I'm not the only one obsessed with my weight gain- have put on at least 1+1/2 stone, I can't seem to stop eating (have a new found passion for pizza)!
Grumpyoldcaaaaaaa - I splurged on makeup this week too - need to spoil ourselves when non of the clothes in the shops fit- my other favourite treat at the moment is magazines even though the baby mags make me cry when I read them and the fashion mags make me grumpy because they are full of lovely clothes/high heels that I can't wear!

Hypatia · 06/03/2009 13:34

Hello ladies -

Spring fever has hit today - I was moaning about -27C earlier this week, but it is supposed to be 14C today...have seen many university students on campus with shorts on already, even though it's only about 10C now. It feels so warm though! I can't wait.

Had a doctor's appt yesterday with a doctor I had only seen once before (shared practice). She didn't remember me from my last visit, didn't read my chart, measured and did a bunch of stuff and never told me what it meant. I really hope I don't get her at the delivery. Am seeing yet another doctor at my next appt in 2.5 weeks.

I had a trace of protein in my urine and my blood pressure took a spike in the past 2 weeks, so I guess they will keep checking that to make sure I am not getting pre-eclampsia or whatever.

I've gained 24lbs so far at 30 weeks...I guess that is 1 stone 10 lbs if I figure it correctly? Is a stone 14 lbs?

Hope everyone is having a nice afternoon - it's only 8:30am here right now so my day is just starting!

alapala · 06/03/2009 13:36

Hey all

I agree bantam, you must ring, at this stage MW/doctors should be v understanding.

For all the large/huge comments. Spare a thought for me and those charming people of madrid, as the Spanish word they use is exactly the same as FAT. So I walk into meetings to a chorus of "how fat you've got!!". if there was a word for 'rude' in Spanish I'd use it.. And this after a bout of the D and V bug, so actually quite slim...

Off to 5 days on the beach in the Canaries tomorrow, so v excited. See you all after.

Grumpyoldcaaaaaaaa · 06/03/2009 13:40

Bantam sorry - I meant to say ring ring ring.....please let us know how you get on.

Jael llareggub horrible thread wasn't it?

And belgian yes DH is the same here - "please can you lay a floor in the hallway and the bathroom before the baby comes? And fix the bath in and tile the bathroom, you know those jobs that have been on hold for nearly a year?" He's halfway through it now - he started at the weekend and has left it again. Sigh. I would do it myself, but once I'm down on my hands and knees, crouched, I cannot get up without causing untold agony to me poor old pelvis. Creak creak goes the old lady
