Afternoon Ladies!!

Creme Eggs - gak gak gak, hate them (but like Mini Eggs).

just found a louse crawling around in my hair , de-nitted the kids last night (outbreak at both schools gah!), will have to frantically check all bottles of lotion/cream/liquid and do myself tonight.

Has everyone else's heartburn really kicked in now - got it after a cup of redbush tea sans milk earlier. Great.

Grumpyoldcaaaaaaaa · 21/01/2009 12:54

Jennster

Posted before I saw yours, my God, are you ok?

Sends waves of cooling lotion type thoughts.............

This thread is cheering me up though

My favourite one is this (inappropriate laughter is the thread by the way)

By MrsPickles on Tue 20-Jan-09 21:25:33
Parents in law came to visit their newest grandchild in our tiny tiny house, visit coinciding with me needing my first post birth poo. Now thinking back, I don't remember doing one since early labour about 10 days ago. Oh my god, it is the biggest poo I have ever done in my life. It was literally leering up out the water at me. I HAVE to show DH because this is going to hands down beat his bright-blue-poo-after-too-many-blue-lagoon-cocktails-in-greece in our ongoing freakiest bowel movement of the marriage competition.

I call for DH - darling can you come and help me a minute - beckon him in at the top of the stairs, silently lift the lid - cue a loud "FUCKING HELL" from DH and then both of us collapsing in hysterics, me clutching my c-section stitches in agony, half laughing half crying because it hurts so much to laugh.

My dear MIL thinks something terrible has happened to me from the howls coming so soon after major abdominal surgery and rushes up the stairs - our bathroom is miniscule and right at the top of the stairs so we cannot close the bathroom door whilst it is occupied by me, DH and the enormous poo; DH is trying to block her line of sight and I am trying to desperately to move from my doubled-up position to close the toilet seat... saying no, no, everything is fine ahhahahahaahha and her saying I've had 6 children there is nothing I have not seen before, why don't you let me help you instead of DH....

Eventually manage to persuade her to go downstairs to rescue my screaming hungry newborn and about 20 minutes later (and several flushes) I make it downstairs to feed DD, could not look my MIL in the face as she berated me for not letting her help me and asking me intimate questions about whether I was passing clots or had it stung when I did a wee (forgetting I'd had a section) and offering helpful explanations in ressaurance. DH and I could not look each other in face and he set me off again when he said oh, DD have you done a poo, I wonder if it's a big one...

possibly if you and your DH are not competitive about your respective poos you will not understand

Jennster I just sprayed cheese, tomato, cucumber and bread all over my PC, after reading that inappropriate laughter thread.

Couldn't tell anyone what I was laughting at, as I am pretending to work......

You did make me laugh though!

Momino · 21/01/2009 15:37

well, back on the caramel digestives today. But i'm only having THREE instead of four so may not feel so sickly.

Momino · 21/01/2009 15:38

Jenn, hope you're better.

divedaisy · 21/01/2009 15:44

welcome rosielady! you'll get loads of advice here and a lot of 'what on earth have I let myself in for??? - who are these people!!?'

Belgian - good grief!! you booked your pram at 13 weeks and my DH thinks I'm too soon to start looking now at nearly 25weeks!! I agree with you about reviews - I tend to make my own mind up about things too! I really liked the design of it - esp the fact the seat bit can go up and down! It felt sturdy yet light.

Fikelly - I am so jealous!! I would LOVE my DH to suggest a day shopping with me and DS! From experience it would last only a few minutes before DH or DS 'get bored'! So go on, indulge me - what did you get???

Loobylou36 - OHHHHH! Hot Cross Buns! I'd forgotten about them!!! Must get some for toasting with LOADS of butter! Also Looby - what is a 'sling workshop'??

Jennster - DH got his chest scalded on a plane - hope you're ok. very sore thing to happen. in future you will need to be extra diligent with sunblock on the area as it can be very sun-sensitive.

Grumpy - with you too on the heartburn! Not all the time, but often enough to be a horrid reminder!

Loads of movement - me thinks baby bump is lying transverse and most movement is in groin areas at the same time. The book I bought for DS tells me at this stage (24-27 wks) baby is about the size of a pineapple! Also getting pressure at ribs - maybe head/shoulder???

LoobyLou36 · 21/01/2009 15:56

divedaisy apparently a sling workshop is when lots of mums and babies get together and have to chance to try out different styles of sling available on the market - not sure if I'm going to this one, altho I have been checking out slings on ebay.
Anyone have any experience of slings?

pulapula · 21/01/2009 16:24

I will have to have a read of that thread later Jennster- sorry to hear about your accident and hope its not too sore.

For anyone who already has DC- do you find yourself imagining your LO and wondering if they will look just like your DC when they are born? My DS didn't look very similar to my DD (I expected him to as the scan image was very similar). I know this is another DS, so I keep picturing him as looking just like my DS which i guess he may do, but I guess he may be different again!

By the way - i suggest you stay away from ebay baby clothes- i keep bidding for things (and winning some) but it is probably a pointless exercise since a) i already have clothes from DD/DS and b) i'm sure LO will get loads of gifts still. My £190 grant will almost be spent by the time i get it!

Jennster · 21/01/2009 16:27

Ooooh I love slings.

I have had a premaxx baby bag which was ok and a Maya wrap which was fab and well loved.

I saw a friend with one similar to these and decided I had to have dc3 just so I could get one! I felt so sorry that dd and ds didn't get to try it.

pulapula · 21/01/2009 16:27

Grumpy (and other heartburn sufferers),

I have never had heartburn even during 2 previous pg and never really suffer indigestion either [pula ducks for cover....] although i do have problems at the other end (I need to get some prunes )...

Jennster · 21/01/2009 16:33

Pula, the first thing I thought when I saw my scan was wow doesn't it look like ds? Dh thought I was a bit mad but I swear it did.

OP posts:
Jennster · 21/01/2009 16:40

Well I'm inflicted the other way. I take ferrous sulphate and that makes me dreadfully erm loose.

alapala · 21/01/2009 17:30

Looby I loved my baby bjorn active and DS spent ALOT of time in it. When small it was the only way to stop him crying in the evenings. DH would carry him and put a tea towel over his head and eat dinner!

CoteDAzur · 21/01/2009 17:52

I sold our Baby Bjorn on Ebay after about a month. It was rigid, cumbersome, uncomfortable, and left marks on DD's little face when she slept.

This time, I got a Moby stretch fabric sling. We'll see how that goes...

FiKelly · 21/01/2009 20:06

jenn OW OW OW glad it missed your eyes and bump though. applying lavender essential oil is great for speeding up healing of burns and scolds and antiseptic too.

divedaisy shopping today was great went to clarks village which is an outlets place. dh went to sports and fishing shops. while ds strapped in pram and i laden with lots of snacks and stickers went to monsoon, next clearance, gap, joules & m & s. i got ds a winter coat/jacket, t-shirts and in monsoon a zip up cardi and 2 shirts in next size and at 70% off Of course i couldn't resist getting some baby girl things too.2 tops,a dress, shorts set, bolero cardi's and a coat.. monsoon 70% off and 3 sleep suits from next with fold over scratch mitts for £2! didn't spend much more than £70 so chuffed

runningmonkey · 21/01/2009 20:10

Hi All,

Jennster sorry to hear about your accident, hope you are not too sore.

I am feeling massive today, been having loads of movement too, right down in the nether regions which is a bit disconcerting.

Thanks for the sling links, am definitely putting one on my list as lots of friends have said it was one of their best baby buys.

Right, am off to read that inappropriate giggling thread, DH loved that one your posted Jennster.

Hope everyone else is well.

FiKelly · 21/01/2009 20:14

pulapula IKWYM about the ebay baby stuff... i've been winning a few things on there too... all baby girl dresses and rompers etc. Having a ball and really pleased with everything i have won so far. Going to have to stop soon though as my paypal funds are running low... until this next batch of DS old clothes sell Absolutely lethal but great fun

Belgianchocolates · 21/01/2009 20:24

Talking about slings. I had a BabyBjorn active and that was OK, but I'm now looking at getting myself a ringsling and a wraparound sling. Not sure which one would be best, so I thought I'd try both. I like the look of the ring slings, there's some beautiful fabrics about, but being tall I tend to get backache easily and wraparounds are supposed to spread the weight more evenly. Apparently western style baby carriers (like the baby bjorn) aren't very good for baby's hips, so I want to try a 'proper' sling. Also babies always look so nice and snug in a sling in a way they don't do in a baby carrier; they're curled up like they're in a little cocoon.

divedaisy I know it was ridiculously early, but I really liked it and the woman in the shop said that the sale price was very good and that it was unlikely to ever be reduced again by that much (£275!), so I bought it. I did feel a bit silly though, I didn't even look pregnant yet!
