dinkystinky · 12/01/2009 12:55

Ps McDreamy - you want to talk to Swampy about cloth nappies; she's the resident guru/addict on that topic!

dinkystinky · 12/01/2009 12:58

LBB - you have to eat the whole pineapple (including the core apparently) on empty stomach - and yes, its alot of them you need to eat. Maybe blend whole pineapples???

Have to admit I spent the overdue 2 weeks of my pregnancy with DS eating curries, having sex, 6 mile walks up big hills, eating entire plantations of pineapple, doing lots of pregnancy yoga and nothing would make him shift (wanted to try accupuncture but couldnt get an appointment in time) - this time round am resigned to the fact that the baby will come when he's ready...

LittleMissNorty · 12/01/2009 13:04

Dinky I think your body is telling you to slow down.....take it easy and dose yourself up with paracetamol

spottyshoes · 12/01/2009 13:06

Sorry you're feeling so bad Dinky

and MOS's back, LBB's constant treatment by health profs and everyone else who is generally feeling poo

I'm still stupidly knackered so am taking one of those 's too. I have started to sort loads of stuff but gotten about 75% way through each job before the tiredness kicked in so now have stuff everywhere and feel really overwhelmed. Am really hoping I get a bit of energy back soon as there is no way DH will sort any of it out.

I have an active birth class tonight at the hospital, am so glad it's not a hypnotherapy one as I'd be asleep. Not sure I'm looking forward to it as it's 2.5 hrs long!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY O&U Hope you're having a good day whatever you're doing x

McDreamy · 12/01/2009 13:06

Thanks Dinky, I have chatting to her on facebook, she has given me loads of advice - thanks swampster!

Hope you feel better soon Dinky.

dinkystinky · 12/01/2009 13:07

Thanks LMN - have taken the paracetemol and has now started bucketing down here, so hopefully will get some peace and quiet to sleep off the last of the flu in.

Oh, have replied on facebook too, but am up for 19 Jan meet up.

dinkystinky · 12/01/2009 13:10

Oh, Happy birthday Onward and Upwards (or Outwards ) - hope you're having a lovely day today and not one of the ones on here.

Spotty - know what you mean about not being able to commit to 100% finishing things; my big task for this evening was going to be packing labour bag but think am going to go to sleep at the same time as DS tonight (assuming those Thames Water buggers have stopped making noise by then)...

littleboyblue · 12/01/2009 13:11

Dinky plenty of rest and fluids, easier said then done though hey? Hope you get better soon.
I did the pineapple thing with ds, didn't work but only had 3 over 2 days but am up for the 7 challenge. Anyone wanna join me?

O&U Happy birthday.

spotty don't do too much, it'll all get done eventually, and I know it's late, but 1 thing at a time

spottyshoes · 12/01/2009 13:13

I will most definately be doing every old wives tale going when I hit 37 weeks (providing l.o is head down) I think I would blend the pineapple too though.

littleboyblue · 12/01/2009 13:16

Maybe..... A friend of mine, drank 1 glass of pineapple juice (supermarket bought) and her waters broke not half an hour later. The cow.
Lots of hot curries, a bit of sex (although according to a recent thread on here, apparently the hormone in sperm has more effect if taken orally), long walks, walk up and down stairs side ways, rasberry leaf tea and what else is there? Can't bear to drinkl castor oil....

spottyshoes · 12/01/2009 13:16

Thought we could use one of these on this thread

LBB - cheers, now its gone quiet(and oh so wet out there, poor DS and his nanny likely to be drenched on their way to swimming class) out there should be able to tackle the rest bit...

Accupuncture and reflexology supposed to be quite good at triggering labour if your body is ready for it.

littleboyblue · 12/01/2009 13:25

That's it though isn't it dinky thsat baby isn't going anywhere until it's ready no matter what we do. But I know you didn't just suggest I get a load of needles stuck into me for no good reason

Calico1 · 12/01/2009 13:42

Hi all

Dinky hope you feel better soon.

I really sympathise with everyone that wants their baby out now....I am feeling exhausted and grumpy too but still need to work till end of Jan so actually hope it doesn't arrive early....!

Feel bad that I am not doing anything interesting with DS - he's getting so bored of me and keeps saying 'up mummy' and 'play more' but I just feel like curling up under the duvet at the moment. My parents are looking after DS this weekend and it'll be the first time he has been away overnight. I think it will be more fun for him than staying at home and of course I'll get a lie-in!!

onwardandupward · 12/01/2009 13:48

Oooh thank you for the birthday wishes girls!

Feeling pretty happy today. A good friend who has finished having babies came around with a CARLOAD of stuff. Toys, clothes, buggy board, bouncy chair, wilkinet - everything everything everything. So am all kitted out now. Even old sheets for the homebirth!

But I do have a nasty cold coughs pathetically, mostly just playing to the gallery

spottyshoes · 12/01/2009 14:21

I'm feeling the same Calico. DS watch back to back episodes of Thomas the Tank yesterday whilst I snoozed on the sofa

What a birthday bonus O&U! Sounds like you have everything you need!

lardybump · 12/01/2009 14:24

Ladies I have been on the net (big mistake) and was wondering if anyone has ever used Caulophyllum?? It apparently induces labour!! But can find no real evidence of that or the risks...

KazzaL · 12/01/2009 14:26

I can't believe how much the conversation has moved on since i was last on ealry on saturday morning - I did manage to get back to sleep and DS didn't wake up till 8.30 which was great. (9.30 on sunday too ) Sorry some of you are really suffering with aches & pains and winter bugs.....

Bought all the stuff for the new bathroom on saturday, didn't get very far on the new(ish) car front though as the bathroom stuff took too long, but it's all ordered and it's up to the plumber to get it done before No2 arrives.

Very jealous of some of the new cars some people are getting, living in the Cotswolds I should really have a range rover or a BMW or audi estate, but our budget stretches to a (second-hand) zafira, but the way we treat our cars, its probably for the best.

Sunday morning we found one of our cats had died overnight - he was just lying like he was asleep in our back room - I got very upset and DH was getting slightly worried I would go into prem labour. The problem was what to do with him on a sunday as the ground is too hard to bury him and the vet is closed. So we put him in the shed in the cat box, but I insisted on wrapping him in a blanket as I didn't want him to get cold - I know it's stupid .

roise - saw in the ealrier thread that you'll be taking your DH's iphone onto Hazel Ward - do they allow mobiles etc now? when I had DS 2 years ago, they wouldn't - although I'm planning on moving to Stroud as soon as possible for some peace & quiet and TLC even if it does mean driving past my house

Afternoon everyone...
Dinky wishing you better you poor thing. Earplugs maybe?? At least though that you're horizontal, no-one is bothering you at work and the nanny has your ds. Don't try to go back to work though before you feel better- the tube journey itself will finish you off.

O&U Happy Birthday !

McDreamy - Don't get Swampy started on the real nappy chat again we'll be here for hours

lardy sorry you're feeling down - I'm finding ds a real handful too at the moment and as a result am giving up on some things - I told DH at the weekend that I think I've lost all parenting authority. He "needs" everything "NOW MUMMY!" shouts at me, begs for the tv and throws a strop when I refuse, won't put his clothes on without a fight but then comes and does really sweet things when I'm almost at the end of my tether (why oh why do they do that) - he's so stroppy. Luckily I'm finally on mat leave and he's at nursery still on his Monday and Tuesday. If you can find someone even for an hour or so it might help you take a breather. I realised how emotional I'd got last week when he (for no reason) kicked a child in the queue to the soft play (charming) and then also kicked my dh in Costa on Saturday when dh said he couldn't have a choc croissant as it was nearly lunchtime....I then lost it with my parents on Saturday when he was playing up and they were being sort of understanding but I was feeling a bit sensitive and then just cried my socks off in front of them......so sorry, this isn't a "me me" post but just wanted you to know that it is hard, you're not alone and please moan away. Doesn't help that this weather is so miserable (and last week so cold that I hardly went out at all and felt really guilty as ds gets like a whirling dervish when we don't get to burn off some of that energy). We sometimes get into my bed in the day (he doesn't have a sleep anymore sadly) and we just snuggle up and read books which he seems to like. I almost feel like I've had a rest. He also seems to quite like the playdoh which occupies him a while and I did madly buy some paints today (eek) but we have a little workshop at the back of our house which is kitted out a bit like an office so we can go and do painting in there and it won't matter. Just trying to find non-telly indoor things to occupy him when the baby arrives too.

Anyway, have been doing jobs today but did sneak in 2 hours at the cinema to see Slumdog Millionaire - if you get a chance before the arrival - go and see it. It really is good. I have two more weeks of 2 days off to myself so am planning my cinema viewing - maybe the new Kate Winslet one with Leonardo and the Seven Pounds one (Feeling like a right Barry Norman) - I found a double seat at the top back row (really comfy) and lay on my side using my big cardi as a pillow - I was one of about 6 people in the whole cinema with a row to myself so just made myself at home !

Right, off to sort out ds room and pack up some of his clothes which are too small for him and get yet more boxes ready to go in the loft. Over and Out !!

PinkTulips · 12/01/2009 15:18

THOM.... there is no health board option for homebirths in ireland, my only option is an IM and they cost about 2 grand... we simply didn't have the cash dp freaks out at the thought of an unassistated HB as dd had the cord around her shoulder and had to be resussed so it's the bloody hospital for me unless baby does come in a rush and i don't make it to hospital.... which wouldn't exactly upset me tbh!

LBB... both mine are hugesly heavy night wetters as well.... curbing liquids before bed doesn't make a squat of differance.... you should see the size of their night nappies... ds's is so boosted he can barely walk in it and it still leaks sometimes

to those wanting to get things moving.... i swear to god cumin tea was what dislodged ds! i drank a cup of it going to bed and woke up in labour... will be trying it again wednesday night as that's when i hit 37 weeks, will let you all know how it works this time

happy birthday onward very of your carload of baby things..... bet you feel quite organised now!

kazzal, i'm so sorry about you cat.... it's heartbreaking to lose a pet. i wrapped our kitten in a blanket too when he died.... it seemed wrong not to, and dp insisted on putting compost in his grave as it would be warmer than the wet clay. {{{{{hugs}}}}} don't be embarressed about getting upset, he was a member of your family, it's perfectly normal to grieve and especially when pregnant that means a good cry (or 20!) hope you're ok.

herbgarden... am itching to see slumdog millionaire but our closest cinema is an hour away and involves us spending the night at my parents so they can mind the kids... so irritating! if i'm still preg this weekend though i might suggest to dp we do it, if i went into labour the kids would be with my parents anyway and i'd be closer to hospital and it'll be our last chance for a looooonnnggg time as expressing milk to leave with my mother proved to be a BAD IDEA when i tried it when dd was 8 weeks

still grumpy and sore. dp rolled in at 4.30am last night and didn't get up til 11.30 this morning (after being screamed at by me!) so i'm not a happy bunny
