I'm so glad we decided to write shit in the title. I hate asterisks.

I am fat, hormonal and tired. DH won't stop snoring and the bed is killing my hips. I am sleeping on the sofa tonight.

Took dd school shoe shopping today, she had gone up a size and a half and I hadn't noticed

Spent bloody £32 on a pair of those stupid Clarks toy shoes out of pure guilt. I hate them but I have banned Hannah Montana and HSM and all that other shit (no asterisk). She loves them and has spent all day playing with a small plastic dog.

Moan, moan, moan, moan....

here you all are! Having a weird weekend! we popped into town yesterday to get the boys feet measured, we can only have been there half n hour when I was in the worst pain I've been so far. Every step I took hurt my unmentionables, so the walk back to the car was agony. Got home and collapsed on the sofa for afew hours and a bath later on seemed to have things sorted.

Got up this AM to find DH taking down all the curtains and washing them, cleaning the windows, cleaning the kitchen and replacing the upstairs door handles - decided I needed to 'help' so hoovered the downstairs - half hour in and I was in pain again.

I think DH is nesting and labour is imminent!

mumoverseas · 11/01/2009 14:43

PT, definitley sounds like SPD. Thats exactly how I feel and I described it ealier as being put on one of those old fashioned torture machines that rips your legs apart. Welcome to the SPD club. On the bright side, last time it went away as soon as DD born. Hope it settles down a bit. I find warm baths help a bit, in fact just off for one now. Stupidly got the shopping but to one of the malls today and waddled round there for 2 1/2 hours and did HUGE supermarket shop then another 45 mins back on the bus. Can't walk now. Think that was my last trip out of the compound til LO arrives.

chilledmama · 11/01/2009 15:20

34 weeks now so 3 weeks to go before this baby is allowed out so that I can have my HB. I need to pack a baby bag now, just in case I go early but actually I packes a baby bag last time too just because it means that you have all the basics in one place so easier for DH to help

Is anyone here? I think I'm having a major paranoid moment and don't want to ask on main board but, had some funny twinges that felt different than the normal funny twinges then went to the toilet (poo - sorry TMI) twice in 15mins. Not sure if the twinges are just him moving funny, but now when I pee I'm wiping away a bit of slime. It's clear in colour and doesn't smell (again TMI) so it's not plug coming away gradually is it? Bump also doesn't look quite low enough for me to be at that time.
Nothing is happening regular but there is a constant ache when I walk around flat.
I'm just being silly aren't I?

swampster · 11/01/2009 15:31

Ah! Never had a name for that pain before but I found just sitting on my birth ball helped it no end!

chilledmama · 11/01/2009 15:35

lbb- how many weeks are you now?

OP posts:
chilledmama · 11/01/2009 15:40

when things started happening with DS, it didn't happen quickly or all at once.
My plug came away in 2 lots but i've heard of people having several shows...it just means things are softening and getting ready.
The pains could be v early labour or just simply your body saying chill and relax in a bath please...my DS didn't fully engage until way into the labour...unusual but any combination of things can happen.

OP posts:
onwardandupward · 11/01/2009 16:47

I think plug usually has a bit of old blood streaked in it, doesn't it? Not that I think I saw one at all last time anyway.

Oh - and I'm getting (once or twice a day) a twinge which certainly feels like a contraction - I think it's braxton hicks, and people do say that 2nd and subsequent pregnancies, the bh's can be enough to take your breath away and make you think "oh shit this is it" on a regular basis.

Hope you're ok lbb.

On the leg pain - I had been waking up with really stiff inner thighs, and I talked to my Alexander Teacher about it, and she said to try having enough pillows between my knees when sleeping that my legs are hip width apart (or pretty much) all the way down. And I have to say that that is really really helping. Don't know if it would help anyone else, but just throwing it out there!

Apart from the bits when the baby is bouncing way down on my pelvic floor, obviously, but a little walk around and a firm talking to generally gets them back up out of there. I want this baby to engage 5 minutes before I go into labour and not before

Neeerly3 · 11/01/2009 17:00

LBB, i get that constant ache too - just get your feet up, pref in a bath, take all tightish clothes off - put a night shirt on if necessary so nothing rubbing on the bump. I have had clearish slim for quite a while, not sure it means anything, my midwife told me its normal to have an increase in discharge while pregs so I just been wearing panty liners/mini tena ladies for those embarrasing moments too!

I think I just need to slow down a bit, so using my pained face as an excuse to do nowt round the house!

LittleMissNorty · 11/01/2009 17:03

Hope you're ok LBB.....I am getting a lot of discharge atm and is clear/white but last time when I had my show it was like a huge glob of blood streaked snot (sorry - TMI) and had it over a period of 2-4 days a couple of weeks before DD turned up.

My BH have been quite painful in the last couple of days as well....could it be that....or head engaging?

Hope you're ok....hot bath and rest required.

chilledmama · 11/01/2009 17:46

TMI plug alert

my 2nd chunk of plug had a tiny bit of blood in it but the first had nothing at all. I only knew it was plug rather than normal (increased) discharge because it was like thick, colourless snot, where as the discharge was thick but whiteish and there all the time!

MOS this is my second e class estate as i had one about 7 years ago but when i got divorced i had a flirtation with a jag then a lovely 3 series coupe ( thought it suited my single image more lol ) But there really isnt much choice and so a 7 seater was in order, have to say it is a great car and i do love it feels nice and safe and you can get soooo much stuff into it. Ive had a c class too but never an ML although your not the first person i have heard tell that it can be unreliable.

Have been to Ikea again today, ive really got to stop now ... i have promised myself no more trips now till way after lo is born but having painted that room yesterday (or DH and DD) just thought that a new rug, blinds ect ect were in order and we are just about to put up DD3's loft bed in there too so i feel like my environment is all nice and ready for bubs

LLB from what i remember shows are usually fairly obvious in that there is blood mixed in with them, i think that you probably just have increased discharge for no particular reason just mention it to the midwife maybe?

Cant remember who it was that suggested that i do a birth plan even though have the planned c section but i probably need to do that - not sure what i should be asking for though? Would love to hold lo when he is born but not sure what the protocol is? Do they whisk them off and clean them up or will they give them to you straight away?

dinkystinky · 11/01/2009 18:15

Am offline for a few hours and come back to a whole new thread (or two)!

Pink,Markstretch and all others suffering from SPD and feeling fed up and crap and truly emotional at the moment - huge commiserations to you. The end is in sight though - keep hold of that thought... and keep eating the chocolate (you need as many extra feel good vibes as you can get at this time in pregnancy). Chilled - sorry you're still suffering (me too - cant seem to kick this fever/cold combo at the moment) - hope you get a goodish night sleep tonight. TBM&FF2 - sorry Isobel is ill; hope the antibiotics sort her out really quickly and she's back to her usual happy self really quickly. Hope Sian is still being a little angel. And Oooggs - nice to see you're still here with us.

Those dealing with achy hips in bed - am currently experimenting with a duvet under me at bedtime and the extra padding seems to help keep those aches at bay (for the time being at least).

dinkystinky · 11/01/2009 18:16

Neerly - hope you're ok - try and take it really easy this evening.

LBB - hope everything ok with you hon. Have a warm bath and chill out. Sounds like normal late pregnancy stuff (as others have said, your discharge can increase alot) or may be beginning of a lurgy, but incase it isnt, just try and relax and conserve energy if you can.

swampster · 11/01/2009 18:22

I just bought a HUGE pair of crocs for to wear in hospital so my feet don't EVER have to touch the bathroom floor!!! I had packed my flip flops then remembered that my feet get so swollen/bloated that I can't get anything on them for AGES.

DH can have them when I'm through with them and they were 40% off plus another 10% with a discount code I found .

PinkTulips · 11/01/2009 18:23

lbb, when i was having ds a woman on my antenatal had a show like that... hospital confirmed it was a show as she was in for other complications so it can definitely be completely clear.

mine have always been snotty clumps of congealed blood rather charmingly although dd's was mostly just blood and it later turned out there was blood in the waters so i think too much blood isn't right either. i hadf a show with ds well over a week beofre he was born so i wouldn't panic too much as it could still be ages... and i was having nightmare BHs with him from 20 weeks onwards.

keep having weird period crampings for days now.... not what i'd call a contraction but not the same as a BH either..... really just like when you get bad period pain and get that weird feeling of needing to go to the loo constantly (sorry, joining you there in the TMI club!)

i think for second and third labours your body starts preparing and practicing alot sooner than with the first... especially if like some of us us you haven't had a huge amount of time between babies.... this is my third preg in 4 years and i feel generally more 'tenderised' in that whole area than i did with dd.

dp has just announced he's off out to his mates tonight... over an hours drive away can barely walk and he knows i'm on edge and he doesn't seem to grasp that maybe it wouldn't be such a good idea.

i'm terrified this baby is going to break its waters with the wriggling he's doing and with dd and ds i went from waters being broken to babe in arms in 2 hours.... god help me if that happens with him an hour away, my mother half an hour and 2 hours of faffing around away and the hospital an hour away! i'd be having the baby with dd and ds still in the house with me.

herbgarden · 11/01/2009 18:52

Hi everyone....

Hope those of you with the lurgy are at least getting some rest or are now shaking it off. It's so miserable on top of everything else isn't it.

I too have been getting regular period type pains and have a general ache low in my bump which increases when I do too much. I did start getting a bit concerned (I'm 35 weeks) but this is my 2nd so have concluded that it's just par for the course - I'm not much of a bath person (don't like getting hot and find it boring sitting in there for too long !) but have really enjoyed taking a bath in the last couple of days. I also have found more discharge than normal and TMI but I poo much more regularly - it's like the babies alternating between sitting on my bladder and putting pressure on whatever it is that makes you need to poo !!....

spottyshoes · 11/01/2009 18:56

Any room left on that sofa you two? I have all the aches and pains as mentioned and am stil sooooooo stupidly tired. Can we watch dancing on ice?

thehouseofmirth · 11/01/2009 19:16

MS I am getting the achy hip thing too but since I started sleeping on two single duvets it has really got much comfier.

PT why are you not having a home birth? Sounds like your babies come out quickly & easily and you've always said you'll come home straightaway. Hardly seems worth going...

For those afflicted, I can thoroughly recommend a huuuuge stack of American-style pancakes and syrup as an anti-grumpy device. Works wonders!

Rosie I haven't had a section myself but as you know I was preparing for one this time. You can definitley request the baby not be cleaned or weighed immediately. You can also request that suction only be carried out if necessary rather than as a matter of routine. As far as holding & skin to skin are concerned I know people who have not been able to do this (if the screen is very high up) but many who have so you should definitely talk to your surgeon about this. If it is not possible your DH can do the skin to skin and you will be able to hold the baby and breast feed (if you are planning to) in the recovery room.

I had saved loads of links but deleted them the other day but you might find this and this interesting and if you do a search on mumsnet there was also some useful stuff too.

dinkystinky · 11/01/2009 19:32

Hmm, pancakes. Most THOM!

LittleMissNorty · 11/01/2009 19:32

Great links HOM....thanks.

Last time we discovered the sex for ourselves, and for me (I was pretty out of it), DH telling me we had a girl was the most memorable part of the CS. Something I definately want to repeat.

Due to being out of it - and completely knackered - both of us......we completely forgot to take any pictures until she was about an hour old, back on the PN ward....and I have already said to DH I want much earlier pictures......he went quite pale, thinking I meant as the baby is born ....there is no way he will venture that side of the screen.

So even those of us having a CS need to write a birth plan then.

I am also pooing loads of times in a day (sorry!).....so its not just me! giving me a very sore bum!

chilledmama · 11/01/2009 20:06

god help anyone how stumblse across olur thread...pooing and mucus...nice
