Tink- sorry to hear no contractions... must be frustrating for you...

Sending vibes to get things going... and wagon chocolate brownies.

BigTeuchLittleTeuch · 15/01/2009 11:27

hullo all!

Tink - get on all fours and sway your hips around for a bit! It could be that baby is not facing right way (back to back) as that can cause intermittent contractions...

And get squatting after that!

Then report back

Ugh GYO! Clothes search is crap! I think, actually what my problem is, is that I'm not really looking for maternity clothes as such at the moment. A friend of mine mentioned that they have these stretchy trousers with an elastic waistband in a shop in New York that have been really helpful for this in between stage - I guess that's really what I'm looking for. They're a bit flared and have a cuff, so they almost look like regular work trousers, but as she said, they're like glorified sweatpants! Sent my mother to the shop, but they don't have them anymore! Anyway, going to go to New Look at some point to check out their stuff and ended up buying a bump band at Top Shop yesterday. I think my downfall is really that I don't have long enough tops, so I might modify the search a bit!

Also, there's a shop in the States called Ann Taylor and they're closing down their maternity department - unfortunately I stumbled across the sale on the website too late! They had tons of stuff all at $4.88 each piece, with an extra 25% off!!!! Really cute stuff too that I totally would be happy to wear. But whenever I clicked on oan item, it said that it was no longer available. My friends husband works in their accounting department and said it was all gone So annoyed I missed the sale! And what's more, they had some really cute non-pregnancy stuff, that wasn't as cheap, but still discounted - and I can't even order any of that!

glaskhamhasoneintheoven · 15/01/2009 11:50

Hope MW will do a sweep for you tink to get things moving along..

DH has just gone to get DS from nursery, i'm on DD watch and then i'm making scrambled egg on toast for lunch as i really fancy it!! Any am badly craving milk again!! i drank a litre of milk in 20mins last night, really really want to drink all the milk we have left in the fridge (another 1 litre bottle) but i have my tesco food shop coming tomorrow and its not worth going out to buy some milk when i have 8 pints coming tomorrow!!

GYoIsReallyHavingABaby · 15/01/2009 11:53

I sympathise LBOT- its hard at that stage to find anything thats quite right. Remember searching shops for ages. Most things seem to be great for huge bumps but not small ones...
I thought about buying some trousers in a a size bigger but was recommended to go straight to maternity.

I got these at about 13/14 weeks from GAP
here which were abuot £40 but was well spent as they dont look too maternity ish and didnt fall down! I then went to US in September and got some similar waist band trousers (demi panel) in a checked material, and those two pairs have kept me sorted for work since then. They really do stretch for the bump and didnt feel to weird early on.

Was thrilled in GAP in chicago at prices, and i found the sale too..

Not sure I got many tops until later as I found I just didnt need to. Many work blouses didnt do up properly or gaped but they were ok under a jumper or tank top.

Not sure if thats helpful but I recall the pain of the in between phase. Think Im so used to it I dont bother looking in clothes shops now

GYoIsReallyHavingABaby · 15/01/2009 12:03

BTW LBOT, I remember taking those trousers to til in GAP and feeling a fraud! Wondered if the lady was going ask for proof of pregnancy!

Obviously she didnt but makes me laugh to look back!

Astarte · 15/01/2009 12:48

I've sold my nursery bedding on eBay, 2 lots and made £107.41

Have treat myself to a new coorie sling in black.

Anything happening Tink or LG&T? NO? Good!

Gin was taking the caullophylum I think, wonder if it's having any effect?

GYoIsReallyHavingABaby · 15/01/2009 13:03

OOh sounds good Astarte.

Do you recommend that sling?

Astarte · 15/01/2009 13:13

Yes for me it works great. Though I think slings are like buggies, a very personal choice. Dh for instance prefers a premaxx, which I think is the worst sling I've ever seen/tried.

I've used a dark purple (it was in the sale) one for the boys and found it easy to breastfeed whilst walking around shops when they were little. Also, you can keep them upright after a feed so they wind easily.
Dd had terrible problems with wind after some feeds and I wish I'd had the sling then for her.

By about 8 months though I find them heavy to carry in the coorie and change to a ring sling. I've tried to bf in a ring sling, but somehow can't manage it comfortably.

In the early days with ds2 I 'babywore' all the time to encourage him to nurse very frequently, which I think help to establish good bf'ing.
I had 2 others to run around after and didn't always have time to sit with a straight back, glass of water and feed uninterrupted for 30 minutes .

Diege · 15/01/2009 13:22

Hello! Good to catch up on the wagon news - hectic day at work today, and just got back from hairdressers (working from home )and so relieved my roots are done
Great e-bay sales Astarte - bet you're really pleased with the price they went for.
Nat - congrats on jeans . That's really good going for baby 3. Think you picked a great time of the year for getting back into clothes - not sure what I'll be wearing come July .
Talking of jeans, my over-the-bump red herrign ones arrived today and they are so comfy. Very pleased with them, and will keep seraphine ones for post-birth I think! Also had a parcel from Uttam Londin with the most gorgeous dresses and leggings/tops for dd3 - their clearance section is so good, and gots loads for £20.
Have been thinking of you TINKS . Can't wait to hear how things go over the next few days!
Hello to everyone else, SES, LBOX, KAYZ, GLASK, STAR, GYO, COSMO, GRUFF, TEUCH, is that everyone??? .
Having a huge plate of mash and fishfingers now...speak later x

GYoIsReallyHavingABaby · 15/01/2009 13:28

thanks Astarte- will investigate
When you "babywear" do you just have the baby up your jumper so it can feed as it wants? Sorry if daft question but wondering how it works.

Really keen to get a good sling as we have situation that I will need it for. My due date is 17th Mar, and my husbands Uni grad ceremony is 2nd April, so unless Im not allowed out of hopsital, I will be there and probably with baby given how young it will be (there are other options of geting a family member to come to and wait outside for me with baby but not sure at the moment)

Am assuming a sling would be good, especially if I could feed it during the cereomny to keep it quiet! (obviously I'd leave if it cried and only stay for my DH's presentation)

need to look at whats available I think!

Diege - hurray for jeans arriving, sound great! And so does lunch, please send some over!

Astarte · 15/01/2009 13:43

I tend to wear a camisole top or something that can open from the top, then the sling goes over the top of my clothes and then I put my coat on (if outnabout). Baby is snug inside the sling, warm against your body and the coorie I use is made of fleece so a bit like being wrapped in a blanket anyway.

There are loads of reviews of MN for slings

tinkisfourtyweeks · 15/01/2009 13:46

hi all

nothing happening here will try that teuch thanks and let you know

lbots - sorry that you couldnt get maternity clothes in sale online that was a shame.

good shopping ladies i need someone to do it for me

thanks diege

i have a pink babasling lined up looks and feels really comfy

cant wait to use our new red quinny buzz

glaskhamhasoneintheoven · 15/01/2009 13:53

Diege- you shouldn't have told me about uttam bargains- i'm now buying some clothes for DD- but i'll be getting a dress with a bolero cardi, a leggings and top set and a skirt and top set all for £22!!! what a bargain!! They will be her holiday clothes as she's too small for their 3y clothes still!!

kayzr · 15/01/2009 14:02

MIL has been here all morning, she went about half 12!!!

I am exhausted and feel like sleeping until 2010!!

Diege · 15/01/2009 14:10

GLASK, I had to share - and the things are even nicer when they arrive than on the website - think I know the leggings set you went for - I got the pink leggings and the beadings detail etc is exquisite. All for summer hols here too as dd3 is a titch (though their clothes do come up small).
KAYZ, there's something about MILs, they drain the life force out of you . Bet you breathed a sigh of relief when she left .

Lunch all gone GYO (sorry and it was so lively I'm having the same again. I'm a real creature of habit when pregnant, and have such a narrow ramge of foods that I really fancy. At the mo' it's fish, potatoes and tinned garden peas. The onlt thing I can drink without retching is grapefruit juice - go through 2 cartons a day which I'm sure isn't helping the heartburn.
TINKS, I think most of us on here have grabbed the shopping baton with both hands I'm also going for the babasling and await to hear how you get on with it with interest .
Right, better get a bit of work done bfore school run!

glaskhamhasoneintheoven · 15/01/2009 14:23

Just showed Dh and he said they are nice... DD decided on a different lot of clothes that she liked, luckily one was the dress and bolero that i wanted for her anyway... and she picked 2 dresses, but one was very similar to the one i liked so have sneakily swapped it for the leggings set again!! shhhhh- she'll be gutted if she finds out before they arrive!!

DH is just off out with DS- have been offered a bag of baby girls clothing off freecycle so he's going to collect them, just me and DD for half an hour or so now.

tinkisfourtyweeks · 15/01/2009 14:26

diege - babasling looks and feels great put dds doll in it to test when i first received it.
got babasling in pink couldnt resist is my favourite colour

how likely is it that my midwife would do a sweep when i see her @ 5pm?
will it hurt?

kayzr · 15/01/2009 14:31

My friend had a babasling and hated it. She used it twice and got rid of it. She said it was really uncomfy.

I have a close baby carrier and I loved it so much!!! I'm taking it with me to York tomorrow so DH can go off with DS1 and the P&T and I can take DS2 in that.

GYoIsReallyHavingABaby · 15/01/2009 14:40

Can you feed in your sling Kay? - I mean is it possible by design?

Diege · 15/01/2009 14:40

Interesting about babasling KAY - it does looks comfy, so will wait and see what TINKS thinks when using it.
GLASK, curse you I have just gone back on uttam site and spent another £22 Still, we'll be smug come summer
Right, must go and get dds!

kayzr · 15/01/2009 14:43

Yeah you can, I haven't tried it but you can do. Here is their website.

Astarte · 15/01/2009 14:50

That site has some gorgeous stuff on it but nothing to fit Dd1

kayzr · 15/01/2009 14:54

Curse all of you and your girls!! There is nothing for DS's at all
