So excited to be starting my first thread!!!

Just had a BFP this morning a couple of days before AF is due and according to FF, my EDD is 1st September 09.

I have one DD (March 05) and had MMC in late September this year, so a little nervous but really ready for this.

Looking forward to a few more people joining me on here!

Oh, Gracie. I'm so very sorry.

GracieGirl · 03/02/2009 17:49

Thank you everyone for your kind thoughts. My husband works away but as it turns out the person who sorts his shifts out had a miscarriage last year so has been really sympathetic, so he'll be home on friday for a week . I'm signed off for 2 weeks so far, but might need a bit longer than that.

I'll continue lurking and checking on everyone elses progress, who knows maybe I'll be able to start the November or December thread. Good luck everyone. x

PurpleCrazyHorse · 03/02/2009 18:39

Thinking of you Gracie

littlewifey · 03/02/2009 19:01

Gracie, I am so sorry to hear of your MC, I went through exactly the same thing just over a year ago, so have some idea how you must be feeling. Big hugs for you and your DH xx

detoxdiva · 03/02/2009 19:09

So to hear your news Gracie. I went through the same thing in October when my mc was picked up at my 12 week scan. I hope the next week is bearable for you - if you do start to mc naturally ( as I did 2 days later) rest a lot, have plenty of painkillers at hand in case you need them, and a stack of chocolate. Thinking of you.

TheTickListQueen · 03/02/2009 19:15

What a horrible shock Gracie. Hope you have some support until your husband gets back.

Take care

bigbang · 03/02/2009 19:45

Gracie I am so sorry for your loss, all the best for the future x

Hello everyone, can I join? I'm pregnant with number two (bit of a surprise) and due the 29th sept so 6 weeks today.

I have been having some bleeding so the GP has referred me to the early pregnancy unit at the hospital.

I had popped onto the Oct thread as I think my dates could be a bit changeable (funny cycle lengths) But If it's OK I think I would like to stay here until I know differently.

Sorry for your loss Gracie

Sails · 03/02/2009 20:09

So sorry for your loss Gracie. I've been through the same thing a mmc before my ds1 and a mc before ds2. Rest loads and take care

Sabs1981 · 03/02/2009 21:09

graciegirl so sorry to hear about your loss. I had a mmc at 11 weeks in sept and had medical management to treat it. Take good care of yourself

You may find the emmsys thread on the miscarriage board helpful. It helped me loads when i miscarried, the ladies on there are lovely. Here's the link

StealthPolarBear · 03/02/2009 21:29

so sorry gracie, what an awful thing to happen Please take care of yourself
welcome & congratulations peachygirl
Would anyone mind if I started a new thread? This one is huge!

LittleRascal · 03/02/2009 21:29

sorry to hear the news gracie. Lots of us on this thread have been there so know what you going through so pls keep us as a support & keep us posted. Take care

Hi to everyone else. Haven't posted for a while but do still lurk. 10 weeks about. Scan on 16th. Nervous as hell!! Symptoms come and go so not sure. Hate this limbo/waiting game.

Chat soon

Neddie · 03/02/2009 22:16

I think we are a ALL a little nervous because this is the higher risk period of miscarriage-it is lovely though to have such a great support by people bound together by just one thing. Sometimes I want to curl up in a ball when I look at my stats. Over 40, twins, previous miscarriage, bleeding, and Rhesus negative to boot!! This is probably my last chance unless a miracle happens.I hope if there's a God he's listening to my prayers and everyone else's. Good night and good luck to all of you.

TigerFeet · 03/02/2009 22:23

Gracie, so sorry

Neddie congratulations on the twins, I'll join everyone else in keeping fingers crossed for you.

I am feeling a little bit better, I take a couple of antiemetics a day and I can keep down small amounts of toast and a small meal in the evening. I'm not losing weight so quickly now and not dehydrating, so it looks like I've avoided serious problems

TrixieBelden · 03/02/2009 22:28

I had the second half of my booking appointment today at the hospital with the registrar. I'm considered a high-risk pregnancy for a variety of boring reasons so will see obstetricians and not midwives for most of my care, apparently.

She unexpectedly did a quick scan and was able to be a heartbeat. I'm 8w5d, and she told me that seeing a heartbeat this early is 1) not necessarily possible, even with a viable pregnancy, and 2) a factor that decreases the chance of mc considerably -- ie, if you can see it now, you're in better shape than if you can't. I don't repeat this to be at all callous to Gracie (or indeed anyone who's had mcs) but to reassure those of us who are inclined to worry.

Then again, there's always something to worry about. I have to inject blood thinners every day for the next month. I know IVF veterans deal self-injections constantly but I've never done it before and I'm petrified.

bobber · 04/02/2009 08:24

Morning all

Best of luck detoxdiva for today for your next scan. At least the weather's better so getting to the Lister should be easier today.

Gladtosee your feeling a bit better TigerFeet - it must be horrendous for you. I thought 24 hr nausea was bad enough - poor you.

Good news about the scan TrixieBelden, although boo to the injections - just the thought of it makes my nausea worse! Im meant to be high-risk too & having consultant care from early on - not heard a dickie bird yet though & Im 10 weeks at the weekend. Will phone today if no appointment in the post.

Big congrats to Neddie - keeping everything crossed for you. Im 40 & have to say Im feeling it !

Big congrats to peachygirl too.

AprilMeadow · 04/02/2009 09:56

TrixieB poor you at having to do the injections. So pleased you got to see a heartbeat.

Neddie TWINS!! Wow. How exciting. On the upside at least you will have help form your older dc's.

Have my booking in appt today. Am 8+3 (i think). Was gutted that i couldnt make it to London yesterday for my scan as we couldnt get off the drive due to the stupid white stuff! Have re-arranged for Monday lunchtime.

Gonnabamumma · 04/02/2009 15:32

Hi Ladies - I went for my second early scan today, last one was 2 weeks ago and didn't go that well. I had to wait 2 hours in the EPU, which did nothing for my nerves at all! Hubby came to this time and I was really glad to have him there. Finally got called and had another internal scan. The sonographer didn't say anything for ages and it was just agony waiting for her to say something, but then she turned the screen around and said "oh baby is in a good position for you to have a look, here is the heart beat, here is the umbilical cord...I make you 8 weeks and 2 days" I was gobsmacked, as 2 weeks ago they said I was 5 weeks and 2 days and that I was completely off the dates.

Went back out and the Dr called us and said that everything looked normal they were discharging me to the midwife and told me to relax and enjoy my pregnancy!
I am so relieved and happy at the moment. I just hope little baby sticks and keeps growing etc. I never thought this would be such an emotional rollercoaster! Hope everyone else getting scans has good news too

audreyraines · 04/02/2009 15:37

Hi everyone, sorry I haven't been around. Lots of love to Gracie, hope you are getting through ok.
I am just in vomit land. Seriously. It's not huge quantities so I think I manage to keep some food down, but nothing seems appetising apart from packets of crisps and every smell makes me heave. Changing ds nappy is so so hard, I keep having to run off the bathroom. I was just making a shepherds pie for ds dinner, and vomited into the sink. Sigh. I hope this is over soon!

silentlywondering · 04/02/2009 16:29

I've been on anti emetics since Friday and am still being sick at least 3 times a day gp seems unconcerned just told me to eat little and often and to have a drink and a biscuit half an hour before getting out of bed. Tried all of that and not getting nywhere!

I am also classed as high risk due to depression and thyroid issues had booking app with mad wife on monday see her next in 9 weeks. See epau on the 16th for "early scan" will be 9+6 by then going by my dates. Not got a clue when I will see consultant have also been referred to antenatal mentalhealth team so will wait and see what happens.

audreyraines · 04/02/2009 16:42

silently, do you think the anti emetics have made any difference at all? or just the same...

BabyLady · 04/02/2009 16:49

Hi all,

Sorry to hear you are so unwell Silently and Audreyraines. Hopefully you are on the downward to the end of first trimester and feeling better. Glad to hear you are feeling a bit better Tigerfeet.

Congrats on a sucsessful scan Gonnabamumma and TrixieB.

I have my second scan tomorrow (at 11 weeks) and I am super nervous - especially after hearing the news of poor Gracie.

Actually been feeling ok, which is even more worrying than being sick.

I have keep taking my bbt throughout first trimester and so far still well above coverline which must indicate the right hormones are still in effect??? But I read that sometimes even after a baby passes on these hormones can continue and hence you don't miscarry. Does anyone know how frequent this type of miscarriage is, as opposed to one where you start to bleed and it is clear that you miscarry?

Sorry for the long blog but I am soooo nervous!

silentlywondering · 04/02/2009 16:55

They have reduced the number of times I am being sick but haven't stopped it completely, I still feel nausea 24 hrs a day and gag reflex is working overtime with smells but at least I am not being sick every time I eat or drink!

Hope that made sense. Feeling sleep deprived too. Ds was up half the night and I struggled to get any sleep at all between looking after him and popping to the loo!

audreyraines · 04/02/2009 18:14

you poor thing silently. sometimes when i'm feeling awful, i remind myself there are people with even worse morning sickness - you sound like one of them. i hope it passes for you soon. it's just the worst.
