So excited to be starting my first thread!!!

Just had a BFP this morning a couple of days before AF is due and according to FF, my EDD is 1st September 09.

I have one DD (March 05) and had MMC in late September this year, so a little nervous but really ready for this.

Looking forward to a few more people joining me on here!

yippee - for you all staying at home in the warm!! im a sahm so no change here but ds has woken up this morning with a rotten cold its his 1st birthday friday so i just hope he is on the mend by then.

snowfalls - be careful walking!! dont go slipping and sliding on your way there!!

GracieGirl · 02/02/2009 09:55

I can't believe I have to drive 45 miles for my scan today, finding it difficult to make out the white car shape on my drive. Its still snowing heavily!!

I am completely mad to think about still going aren't i ?

PurpleCrazyHorse · 02/02/2009 09:57

Morning everyone. No snow here yet but will probably arrive just in time to make it tricky to get home! Freezing cold though.

DH and I told parents at the weekend as we need to tell a few key people in a couple of weeks. So wish I hasn't told mum, she's turned into such a liability I've had to turn off my facebook wall. Next time I won't be telling her anything. She even thought she'd be coming to the MW appointments! I'm sure we'll come to blows. On the plus side, the PIL have been fab and are keeping the news quiet.

This is just the start, isn't it? So glad we live 3+ hrs away from my mum. Hmmm...

lemonmoon · 02/02/2009 10:24

Morning all! We're snowed in together - no trains, no buses, no tubes, and there's a snowball fight going on in the street!

yes, graciegirl, you are completely mad to think of driving today if you don't have to - you know it's going to snow again this afternoon? Would hate to think of you trapped 45 miles away from home. Can't remember if this is a private scan or not, but if so I'd definitely rebook.

pch this is exactly why I haven't told my mum yet. She's going to go nuts, and I reckon I can only cope with 6 months of it.

I've been feeling shockingly well the last couple of days. Had a peculiar turn in Sainsburys yesterday and had to abandon the packing to dh for a sit down, but I'm still not feeling remotely sick, and the tiredness is the only major thing. Oh one thing - is anyone else having trouble sleeping? I've been waking at night, and waking stupidly early some days - yesterday was 5.30am. I'm just wondering if this is how my body reacts to the hormones instead of making me sick, because normally I sleep like a log.

bigbang · 02/02/2009 11:12

Hello everyone,

I can't believe its snowing! We are up in Manchester visiting the in laws at the moment, supposed to be driving back to London tonight not sure thats going to happen!

We have told them the news, they were pretty shocked but very excited. Told my mum as well, all she said was you are brave. Err thanks mum!

Still feeling pretty rough, nausea and tiredness are wiping me out. Don't feel like I can do anything! 8 weeks today, so hopefully only another 4 or 5 weeks left of this...

PCH its lovely that your mum is so excited and interested in her grandchild! Next comes the well meaning advice. Keep repeating, 'its because she cares, its all done out of love' etc!

I hope you all enjoy your snow day! Sort of wish I was back in London, I bet the kids on our street are having a great time, its very quiet here.

Snowy1 · 02/02/2009 11:32

Hi everyone

Hope you are all cosy at home. I failed to get into work so rather enjoying watching the snow from indoors!

Had a bit of a worrying weekend. But hopefully just over-reacting. I've been worried for about a week as nearly 7 wks and no syptoms yet. When I first ogt my BFP I had some mild cramps. They only lasted about a week and nothing really since. Then this weekend I got mild food poisioning. Only lastest about 8 hrs and fine now.

I have been freaking out all weekend. I called the GP first thing. She was entirely unsympathic but reassured me that probably ok as I got better so quickly but would test for listeria if I wanted to. Then I asked about lack of pg symptoms generally. She just said do another pg test and go back to her if not +ve. Done the test and thankfully still +ve but not sure that reassures me as I read they can be even if pg ended.

However, Lemonmoon, your post made me feel a bit better as I have also been waking up a bit early when I normally struggle to wake up. Let's hope it's a good sign!

I am normally a rational person, honestly!!!

peachyfox · 02/02/2009 12:14

Hi Snowy,

I've been pestering everybody and anybody who would listen about my lack of symptoms (just slightly sore boobs when (or if?) I prod them for the past 6 weeks. I was sure something had gone wrong! I am now ten plus 5 (it's my first pregnancy, age 41 and IVF). I paid for a private scan last Friday and all was perfect, little arms and legs waving around, size spot on. I know lots of people who had no symptoms like us - it really is true. Anyway, I don't usually post on here (so hard to get on with my work) but I wanted to reassure you that having no symptoms is not a bad sign. If you can get a scan when you are over six weeks and you will hear the heartbeat. It might not stop you worrying, but you will know the stats are on your side,
Wishing you every happiness, peachyfox

Sabs1981 · 02/02/2009 12:46

Hello ladies, sorry i havent posted for a long time on here, RL has been taking over a bit, I have been lurking though, plus ive been just stressing (i know I shouldnt) over this new pregnancy. I'm now 6+2, and due to have my 7-week scan next Tuesday 10th.

Well, last week, I had a bit of brown discharge, but then yesterday it got heavier. I've also got a cold and sore throat, which is exactly what i had before my last mmc kicked off

Rang NHS Direct, who told me to ring my out-of-hours GP service. They then told my to go into my local A&E, where they have a new GP out of hours service located there. Saw a doc who was so unhelpful who made me feel like i was just being a paranoid woman who was wasting his time, who didnt even examine me internally, just checked my temp, throat, urine, chest, blood pressure etc. I didnt even want to go in, it was the GP i spoke to on the phone who said I should go in to be examined. I even took the (sorry TMI alert!) panty liner as evidence, and asked him if he wanted to see it, and he wasnt really interested.

I've not gone into work today, so just enjoying the snow from indoors. DH is working from home and is taking good care of me.

Does anyone have any experience (good or bad) of brown discharge. I have been reading a thread on the pregnancy board, which has been helping.

Or maybe i just need someone to tell me to snap out of it and stop worrying for nothing

sorry for me, me, me post

PurpleCrazyHorse · 02/02/2009 12:58

Thanks bigbang and lemonmoon - definitely wish we could have kept it quiet longer. Unfortunately the dates just didn't work out. I did see this coming, and next time I'd tell our friends before telling my mum.

Seriously considering not telling mum the correct EDD, though. I think she'll have every intention of coming to stay and there's no way she's doing that. We're not very close and I'm not having her either at the birth centre or in my house the day after!

Sorry for the rant, I'm in a bit of a stress about it but need to get it out of my system rather than have a bust-up with mum. My family is a bit weird and my mum is the 'princess', so thinks everything revolves around her (hence why technically I live in a different country!!). DH says she's the typical MIL

Great to hear your scan was okay Peachyfox and I know how you feel snowy1. I've also had trouble sleeping and often wake up early then struggle to get back to sleep. Good to hear others are having similar things. Unfortunately I'm eating like a horse and need to curb that, seem to be constantly hungry.

lemonmoon · 02/02/2009 12:59

Ditto snowy - having virtually no symptoms is weird, and I'm no expert, but I think that we might just be lucky. One of my friends had none and is now 29 weeks, while another had lots and felt very nauseous and unfortunately miscarried. I don't think more symptoms really mean it's more viable, even though lots of health professionals seem to say more sickness is good, which puts the wind up me, since I keep reading that nearly half of all women don't get nausea.

I'd also say if you want to set your mind at ease about listeria then there's no harm in taking the test that's offered. Chances are its perfectly fine but if you think you'll worry then you might as well know one way or the other - the worry wouldn't be good for the bean!

I was just talking to dh about having no symptoms and he lightly said 'oh I wouldn't call being cross 'having no symptoms'...' Bless him.

bigbang my street is full of kids throwing snowballs. It's brilliant, and it's really snowing again now...

Snowy1 · 02/02/2009 13:59

Just want to say thanks for the reassuring messages. It really does make me feel better

LJ29 · 02/02/2009 14:11

Hi guys, hope everyone is enjoying their days off!!!

I had some more bleeding on Friday night so went to my GP at 9 this morning. He was very obliging and by 10 I had been to the hospital and had a scan which showed a perfect 8 week old baby with a heart that was beating for england!!!! I can't tell you how relieved I am, the anxiety of the last couple of weeks was really starting to get me down.

Anyway straight after I had my scan I had my booking in app which was great. Got my bounty pack which I know a lot of people think is full of rubbish and in general I agree but there was a coupon for a £5 huggies starter pack which contains a pack of nappies and wipes and other money off coupons so well worth picking up IMO.

Hope everyone else is keeping well!!

peachyfox · 02/02/2009 14:19

Can I just say crazypurplehorse that I'm feeling your pain re your mum. Since we told my parents we're pregnant they have been constantly ringing me saying now you really must slow down etc etc without any evidence that I'm not doing just that. I'm actually taking it very easy indeed (work is quiet now). I had to tell them that noone cared about the baby more, worried about the baby more or thought about the baby more than ME! We'll be living in Berlin when the baby comes and my mum has already told me she'll be coming to stay for 2 weeks to 'help'. This would utterly alienate my boyfriend right at the time when I most want him to feel included (he has very limited patience with my mother).

Snowy re the no symptoms - I try to think that its not how high your hormone levels are, but rather your body's reaction to those hormones. I'm not at all prone to sickness from alcohol or food - in fact I haven't been sick for as long as I remember. My body is just coping well with the hormones - sounds like yours is too. Another thing is ask your mum what she had - mine had no sickness either.

Golly sorry for the megapost - is that allowed?

Had my due date pushed back a day so have amended on the stats thread. Thought another link would be useful to it to save searching.

Checking in appointment was very interesting and if my flight is cancelled tomorrow - looking likely - I've got an appointment with a consultant then. Very impressed with the NHS so far!

Hope everyone well.

cautiousmumtobe · 02/02/2009 18:23

lemonmoon - 3am wake up for me this morning. Just in time to see the snow start but we didn't get enough in the Northwest to not go to work unfortunately. Mind you, its still coming down now so fingers crossed for tomorrow!

Back to the sleep issue - I was like this when pregnant with DD. Waking up really early in the morning and not able to get back to sleep. I watched the entire sex and the city boxset over a few weeks of early mornings last time. Also get really vivid dreams. Anyone else with this wierd symptom?

detoxdiva · 02/02/2009 19:02

Evening all - loads of messages since I last posted!

Lots of snow here today - went into work in the morning, but had to leave early as dd's nursery were closing after lunch. So we had an afternoon in the garden building snowmen! Her pre-school is shut tomorrow am, so it'll be more of the same again!

Welcome Neddie - think you're our first twins on the thread....perhaps there'll be more as the scans start happening

Snowy - try not to worry about your lack of symptoms...some women with some pregnancies just don't experience them. I had no sickness at all with dd and have had none again this time. The only way I feel any different is that I am now starting to feel tired in the afternoons, which iirc from dd, lasted only a few weeks. I have friends who had every symptom under the sun, and others with none, so it really is no indicator of anything really

Gracie - did you go for your scan? How was it?

I have my follow up epu scan on Wed where I am hoping they'll date my pg too (suspect I won't then get a 12 week dating scan too). My dates are putting me at 9+3, however, I have been trying to work out when I conceived, and I think I am more realistically 8+1 today. Will update my stats after Wed.

Neddie · 02/02/2009 19:24

Apparently when you get to my geriatric age it can be like Easter with your body chucking eggs out left right and centre- just hope they're not past their sell-by date!! There will be 16 years between no.1 and these two-hope my body can hold out.

pooka · 02/02/2009 19:24

Hi all

Have my booking in appointment on 13th Feb and then scan on 24th. Getting closer. Still feeling crappy in evenings. Can't really manage a proper meal if I eat after about 5pm and if I do, then cannot sleep until the nausea has shifted.

However, have obviously been making up for lost time earlier in the day as have already put on about 6 pounds and am only 9+3. In the evenings get so bloated I look like am 8 months pregnant. No bump, but my baby belly from previous babies has been pushed out on display, and my stomach feels like it is sticking directly out from under my ribs. Also am starting to get heartburn. This is all weird as had very few symptoms with dd, only slightly more with ds. Feel pretty rotten in evenings, though actually better when I get out and do things. So I think I might start going swimming in the evenings when dh gets home (and when I don't feel like hibernating, which is pretty much all the time). Have booked into ante-natal yoga classes, but not until the end of march by which time will have had scans and hopefully got out of the icky stage.

Snow day today here, and tomorrow too. Not much resting though - have been dragging dd and ds up and down the street on their sledge. DH still had to go in this morning, and will tomorrow. The road to his work is fairly clear and is own business so he has the keys.

pooka · 02/02/2009 19:26

Congratulations neddie on twins. I read somewhere that there is an age where the incidence of twins suddenly peaks. Think starts at around 35.

Neddie · 02/02/2009 19:34

If you think you are bloated try 2!!! I am racing towards Jabba the Hut stage faster than you can say "who ate all the pies"

iamamummy · 02/02/2009 19:54

cautious - im with u on the early mornings and vivid dreams...last night i had 2 - one where ds was not dps and everyone knew except him and the second was dp revealed to me he just wanted me as a bit on the side and wanted to sleep with other women i swiftly woke him up after it had finished for reassurance

iamamummy · 02/02/2009 19:56

oh congrats neddie on twins - do they run in your family?
