5 bottle Kayz nice one. Mind you that was the minimum you needed for a 10lb +++ baby

Ok, so I weighed myself

Baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaad idea.

Good news is I have already lost over 7kg since she was born. Bad news is that still makes me 16kg heavier than before I got pregnant, and I needed to lose 4kg then. So that gives me a cool 20kg to lose in the New Year. Jeepers!

I give you this information for altruistic purposes ...cos that is a lot of weight I have stacked on. Ah well. Character building....right? Plus I am giving myself a good 9-12 months for it to come off and no crash diets if I can help it.

majormoo · 15/12/2008 16:12

Veggie your birth sounds lovely

Arti glad your husband is now detached from the ladder.

Katie I sympathise with the constant feeding and vomiting. My DS had reflux and was sick ALL the time but fed loads. As he put on weight (he was 9lbs 1oz at birth and carrying on being high on the centile charts) hvs/doctors were not concerned. Am afraid with my DS the puking carried on until we started weaning, but all babies are different. I just got used to walking around covered in vomit!

Am feeling really despondent today. Am 41+1 and midwife tried to do a sweep today but my cervix is still posterior so she could not complete it. Feel like I am doomed to induction on Sunday which I desperately want to avoid. Am now bleeding for my trouble and feel pre-menstral and all for NOTHING. AM just going to ignore the daily influx of calls and texts as am just too miserable.

majormoo · 15/12/2008 16:18

but Katie meant to say the cluster feeding was only when both mine were very tiny. It all settled down into a regular pattern but did take a few weeks.

OrangeCrush · 15/12/2008 16:26

Oooh yeah! just have to share this - just spoke to MW. Apparently I probably am in early stages of labour - didn't think these 'cramps' would pass as real contractions as really not finding them painful, just 'noticeable' above general bach ache - thought they were just strong BHs, but have gone from every 20 mins at 11 am to every 10 mins now, so rang to check.

Can't tell you how relived I am at 40+8 to be told this

Hope I've not jinxed it by getting my hopes up...

LadyThompson · 15/12/2008 16:30

Major...you poor girl. Listen, it's only Monday today. That's six whole days until next Sunday. You really never know. Have everything crossed for you.

Katie and Verso - meant to say, have you tried Dentinox? It disperses air bubbles and despite the chemically sounding name it's basically just a dill oil suspension, you can use it from birth and unlike Infacol you can use it after a feed instead of just before. My DD doesn't like the taste...but might be worth a go.

Veggiemummy · 15/12/2008 16:33

Oh orange that is great I think they call is unestablished or early labour but don't let the names put you off it's all moving towards the same thing. Hooray for you, enjoy that G&A

MM the prementrual feeling might mean something?

OP posts:
OrangeCrush · 15/12/2008 16:36

Major sorry to be so cheerful when you are still waiting . I had resigned myself to enduring another horrible attempt at a sweep tomorrow afternoon and then even more horrible induction on friday, but hopefully I have escaped this now, and so might you! Keep positive - you never know when babyMajor will decide it is time....that is why this is so much fun...remember???!!!!!

LadyThompson · 15/12/2008 16:48

Good luck Orange...

abbymeg · 15/12/2008 16:58

Well, that's one less Monday baby.

I sat and waited for over 7 hours and then got sent home. Three emergency sections and one lady off the elective list and they ran out of time. I wasn't allowed to eat or drink all day was feeling pretty crappy; plus we were waiting on the postnatal ward so spent the day watching three other ladies with their lovely newborns which was hard as I'm a worrier and my biggest concern is that the baby will be okay when he's born.

The doctor has 'promised' that I will be first on the list tomorrow. Let's just hope there's not four emergencies.

Am at the number of emergency sections and the fact there is only one theatre in such a big hospital.

Am that I'm back at home, after a day of stressing about the op, starving and watching lots of babies, without my baby.

I know it can't be helped, but doesn't stop you from being disappointed after building up for so long.

Hope everyone's well.

OrangeCrush · 15/12/2008 17:04

Poor abbymeg What a dissapointment for you. Fingers crossed for tomorrow.

artichokes · 15/12/2008 17:12

Poor you Abby. Have some nice food and an early night if that will cheer you up.

Good luck Orange. Major I know how you feel. I am so fed up of waiting for this baby and I am booked for an induction on Saturday at 8am. I would love to avoid it but am giving up hope.

Have had a bit of a wobbly afternoon. I have a very severe phobia of vomiting. It used to be a real problem for me but now I try and just get on with life and not think about it. However, having all this media hype over a nationwide D&V bug is making me really paranoid. I think my hormones are getting the better of me. Everytime DD coughs I jump out of my skin worried that she is retching. I have also been begging DH to work from home so he is not exposed. I need to get a grip. I promised myself I would never act like this again. Pllleeeeaasssee let us all stay well, let the baby come tonight, and let me get away from the mad pregnancy hormones. Please?

Verso · 15/12/2008 17:27

abby what a disappointment!! Very frustrating - but at least you know it will definitely be tomorrow. It must have been a very difficult (not to mention hungry!) day being all psyched up and then sent home.

orange sounds like you're on your way. Good luck!

majormoo I have nothing to say except to send you {{big hugs}}. I hope you go before your induction... it must be having the threat of it hanging over you . My personal recommendation at this point would be Terry's chocolate orange...

arti I forgot to say earlier that I loved the tale about the superglue, although it must have been stressful to actually live through. Glad all is well again now!

LadyT thanks for the recommendation. I found Dentinox on another thread and was most confused because they also make a teething gel which we used copiously with DD1. Obviously my DD2 is hugely advanced () but she's not THAT advanced!! Anyway - I got DH to take me to Boots yesterday and I have laid in supplies: Colief, Dentinox and Gripe Water. I know I can't use the Gripe Water yet (and have no idea whether it works) but it made me feel good getting my armoury prepared in case the wind gets worse.

OrangeCrush · 15/12/2008 17:31

I am mean and horrible because my mum just phoned and when she asked if I was OK/had had any twinges yet I lied and said no. And then had to grit my teeth with every contraction - good job they are still really mild

Can't cope with her wittering and fussing around, so God knows what she'd be like if she knew I was actually in labour, however early. She'd be in the car and up the M1 straight away. I know its only because she loves me, which is great but I find it so claustraphobic sometimes - I just want to get on with it, not decide whether I want her to bring a chocolate log with her if/when she does come and visit.

Told her I couldn't really think what we would be eating for tea, nevermind xmas and she let it drop thankfully. I am truly an ungrateful wretch of a daughter.

Veggiemummy · 15/12/2008 17:47

Oh Orange very exciting that you needed to grit your teeth through contractions def on it's way then.

Abbey what a nightmare make me a little teary to think you should be having cuddles with your baby now. Will be so happy for you tomorrow. I can't believe it what are the chances of 3 in one day, crap.

Arti when DS1 was coming up to his 1st winter was when there was all the bird flu scares and I was sure it would hit that winter. I have to say though I think your DH is safer at work, no DIY to do there.

reban · 15/12/2008 17:53

your not ungratefull orange you really need to think of yourself at a time like this!

this is goingto be a bit of a me post im afraid ....

went to bed friday night and straight to sleep, awoke at 2am with violent stomach pain, was up intermittenly til 6am with stomach cramps and diahorrea (sp? and sorry tmi) then when everyone else started to wake warned dp that i might be in labour as although the pains didnt feel like coontractions they bloody hut and were coming in irregular waves, so started to time them. At which point i started throwing up.. dedided to try paracetamol to see if helped with pains and thankfully conked out for a few hours. When i woke i decided i def wasnt in labour just had a lovely stomach bug to make me feel extra rotten
Anyway this continued on sunday and i was getting much less movement from baby so i finally gave into my dp and phoned the delivery suite on sunday afternoon and they asked me to come in for monitoring. So we packed 3 kids of to my sisters house, drove up and got monitored, of course as soon as we got there baby started kicking lick mad, but all the midwifes were lovely and gave me a thorough check over and let me go after about 1 1/2 hours. So back we go to our car in the car park to find a ticket on it because we failed to display arking ticker and then the car we bought 10 days ago would not start
phones AA and they could nt get it i start so it was towed away to a garage, and believe the last vehcicle you want to ride in when your 9 months pregnant and have a stomach bug is a bloody tow truck!

so there goes my disatrious weekend but on a lighter note my car has been fixed and we can get it tomorrow .. just have to make sure i dont go into labour tonight!!!

OrangeCrush · 15/12/2008 17:56

veggie more to stop me laughing at my own cunning than the pain, although it is slowly getting worse. Might have to get the TENS warmed up soon.... is there an optimal time to put it on?

reban · 15/12/2008 17:57

katie wanted to say as well my ds1 would feed constantly and then throw up. I felt in the end he was getting a tummy ache from wnd and he was trying to feed for comfort Ended up really having to persreve ith winding him and trying all the remedies, but my mil used to try holding him stading up with him facing forward. She would hold him round the stomach and just out a bit of light presure on it, it did seem to relive him sometimes. And a dummy to give you a break is a good idea too xxx

congrats veggie sound like a wonderful birth, so sorry they sent you home abbey and giid luck to all the c-section iduction ladies today xxxxxxxx

katie3677 · 15/12/2008 17:59

Right, I am attempting to take back control. Have been feeding DD since about 3.30 and keeping her awake in between feeds in the vain hope that she might not repeat her activities of the last three nights. I WILL GET SOME SLEEP TONIGHT! Will let you know how it goes...

JamInMyWellies · 15/12/2008 18:29

Katie, have you tried sort of dangling DD over your shoulder so that her tummy is resting on your shoulder also if I remember corectly their tummy is located at the left hand side so if you gently rub in an upwards motion where you think her kidneys would be that might work. By the way your HV/MW is talking bolloxs of course BF babies get wind. Also get DP?H to take over and let her suck his finger DS wouldnt take a dummy but Daddy had a magic finger which worked miracles.

Orange how exciting now remember to try and not grit your teeth as your mouth and throat are directly related to your birthing canal. GFet me being all hippy breathe throught he pain try to imagine a long ribbon or thread coming out your mouth when you breathe out.

LAdyT what on earth were you thinking weighing yourself not untiul you are at least 6 - 8wks post bubba.

Tight off to pick up DP from the station.

Oh yeah and still nothing my end not even a tiny show. 41wks tom!

Veggiemummy · 15/12/2008 18:33

Orange apparently with Tens it's the earlier the better.

OP posts:
Verso · 15/12/2008 18:37

katie best of luck for tonight. Only slight word of caution with keeping baby up all the time is she may get 'overtired' (a concept I didn't believe in until I had DD1) which may (somewhat counter-intuitively) make her harder to settle... Mind you, if you've successfully tanked her up it just might work! Good luck!

katie3677 · 15/12/2008 18:59

Bollox, hadn't thought of that Verso, although I am letting her lead me. I keep trying to put her down for a sleep and she wants more food after a few minutes, so hope that we have just transferred the epic night feeding to epic afternoon/evening feeding.
Jam, she doesn't have a problem winding, almost the opposite, it just comes straight back up, out of her nose mostly! But I do find that over the shoulder is the best way to get any wind up.
Thanks for all the support and advice, don'tknow what I would do without you lot!

kayzr · 15/12/2008 19:11

Does anyone have any advice to get DS2 to settle in his moses basket?

I am so tempted to see if we still have any dummies left from DS1 but I think we got rid of them. He won't settle at all really and its getting really hard to even do something as simple as having some dinner.

I feed him until he comes off, then wind him and the put him down. Then he starts to cry and if I pick him up and try to feed him again like the MW said he normally doesn't feed. He just goes to sleep. Even if DH picks him up and cuddles him he'll go to sleep.

Any and all ideas are welcome.

Thanks.
