Hi All. Lovely shiny new thread. Thought I'd just come over and have a look although I should probably have posted on the other one first. Haven't been on for a while but hope you are all ok. Will catch up later . x

Overtiredmum · 24/11/2008 20:23

Can't believe another new thread again already!!!

frazzledoldbag34 · 24/11/2008 20:25

alapala - just saw your post about being undecided re:amnio. I'm the same (I'm a failed CVS at 12 wks and am booked for Amnio next thurs - will be almost 17 wks). Am having second thoughts (apparently nuchal measurement ok, no bloods done, nasal bone as it should be). But family history of DS and other abnormalities and am 34 - will be almost 35 when this baby born so worried about that. Don't know what to do . Currently in denial.

Also fancying some S&V crisps. Might just have to text DH and get him to bring some in after his meeting.

Have just listened in with Doppler - heart beat is around 162 bpm. Baby jumping while I listened in and could feel it as well as hear it. Was lovely

frazzledoldbag34 · 24/11/2008 20:26

I know overtiredmum - we all talk too much!

Febes · 24/11/2008 20:27

Hi new thread . Signing on.

frazzledoldbag34 · 24/11/2008 20:28

What do we think re: heartbeats? Is 162 fast = girl ? Or might it mean boy? (am still in boy-yearning mode, quite shocking as am used to wanting girls!)

Momino · 24/11/2008 20:34

hi. lovely new thread,eh? Hope you're all well.
Frazzled, not sure on the heartbeats but I asked MW who said that in these early-ish days the heartbeat can be quick regardless of the sex (i think she's skeptical).

I'll find out mine at my 20wk scan on 10/12 and let you know... don't think we're going to ask the sex though. am nearly sure it's another girl. i feel too much the same as the last two pregnancies which turned out girls.

i'm a bit worried because I'm yearning for a boy and if it does turn out to be a girl, i hope the disappointment goes out the window when i look at the miracle. you just can't tell though until that time. maybe because of this we should find out the sex so I can prepare myself.

llareggub · 24/11/2008 20:43

Hello! another new thread. We are moving on!

My blood sugar levels were rubbish this afternoon, despite sticking rigidly to my low GI diet. I suspect they'll put me on insulin at this rate. Rats.

Feeling quite a bit of movement today, which is wonderful.

frazzledoldbag34 · 24/11/2008 20:47

OH it's weird isn't it? (looking at boy stuff in a yearning way I mean). Never done that before. I won't be disappointed if it's a girl (I don't think) as I've always assumed it would be another girl and in fact until recently was hoping it was a girl.
However, I wonder if THIS means it's a boy - yesterday I was sorting out 6-9 month clothes to give to my SIL for her baby and put all the pink/ girly stuff in a pile for her, and kept my blue/brown stuff in a separate 'keep' pile for the new baby. This was totally unconciously done, then when I realised what I'd done I was quite shocked!
(when I say blue and brown stuff I mean dungarees, sleep suits and cardi's etc that I dressed my girls in when I got sick of pink).
How odd. So now I wonder if that's my subconcious telling me to hold on the 'blue' stuff............hmmm
Very weird.
Or maybe just general pregnancy brain weirdness.
I am a bit 'absent' at the moment

detsy · 24/11/2008 20:59

Hallo Ladies - can't find the cocktails on here

Am seriously thinking about getting a doppler - frazzled are they simple enough to use without any "formal training" I've been looking at proper dopplers as opposed to the useless strap on ( ) version I had with DD - don't want to get all panicky if I don't catch a hb. I really need an ultrasound machine but can't afford one of those..

My coat hasn't arrived yet and only got another week in my own non preggers one, I think.

My skin is so so dry and itchy everywhere - this happened to me last time as well. Had to get DP to rub in some serious moisturiser but had to be of mutual benefit - at least the deed is done for a week or so

frazzledoldbag34 · 24/11/2008 20:59

[Reclines on velvet cushions sipping an alcohol-free pina colada]......clicks fingers to summon butler.......wonders where everyone is tonight......please come and talk to me or I might have to go and do some work!

CoteDAzur · 24/11/2008 21:01

Continuing from previous thread...

Spangle - I never heard about the restaurant chain "Zizi", not surprisingly, as I doubt anyone would open a restaurant called "Penis" in France Zizi = Penis is kiddie language.

alapala - I'm having doubts on amnio, as well. My amnio is scheduled for 17 December, but ultrasound guy said there was no reason to expect an abnormality. He also said that nobody could be sure there wouldn't be one without amnio. It's a tough choice.

detsy · 24/11/2008 21:05

I'd rather a virgin mojito like they do in graucho grill - so so scrummy and I'd like someone to give me a luxury foot rub whilst i sipped it too... ahhh bliss

frazzledoldbag34 · 24/11/2008 21:05

Cocktails are over here detsy - what can I get you
[puts on pinny]

My doppler has been lent by a friend, I wouldn't probably have bothered otherwise. Having said that it is nice to listen in but I don't very often. Especially now I've felt it move. I am a qualified midwife so I do know what I'm listening for. However, if you have heard it before at the midwife visit you should know roughly what you're listening for (ie, not your heartbeat or the placenta whooshing etc). By the way the one I have is called 'Hi.Bebe' and my friend got it on ebay for about £80 a couple of years ago. It looks and sounds like a proper one the midwife would use. (expensive though IMO)

Giggling at 'the deed' - may have to oblige tonight - DH is getting a bit desperate. If he brings me some crisps in he'll get lucky later

detsy · 24/11/2008 21:06

Did anyone see that dispatches programme tonight about baby language and forward facing pushchairs and baby stress levels - was pretty scary but made complete sense

frazzledoldbag34 · 24/11/2008 21:07

OOH CRISPS ARE HERE. Sea salt and balsamic kettle chips. My fave. Two bags!
DH just read my previous post - big smiles from him too!

Fancy a Margarita next. My favorite!

frazzledoldbag34 · 24/11/2008 21:10

Apparently DH had to go to 3 shops to get the right crisps! He's a star. (He said it was self-preservation!)

detsy didn't see the programme but read about it in the newspaper. Totally makes sense to me that they might feel isolated if forward facing. Another reason to love the Bugaboo Cameleon!
(sorry am so, so boring about buggies)

CoteDAzur · 24/11/2008 21:11

frazzle - 162 bpm would mean a girl, if the theory is correct. DD's heart rate was about 165 bpm at this stage.

Momino - I feel exactly the same as first pregnancy (DD) and it's a boy this time, apparently. I crave/eat the same things, had the same vague notion of MS but no actual sickness. Tummy looks the same - round and fat.

detsy · 24/11/2008 21:13

frazzled crossed posts

Yup DP was desperate indeed!! Hope he brings you some crisps for his own sake!!

Big stress here as can't find my blisteze and my lips are parched - got about 3 tubes somewhere - god knows where though.

The HIbebe dopplers are from £9.95 a month - I know what to listen for and where to aim, think I may get one and see how I find it till I start to get some real movements at least.

frazzledoldbag34 · 24/11/2008 21:14

cote congrats on your healthy scan and your boy! That's exactly what my consultant said to me too....baby looks fine but that's no guarantee.....so hard isn't it.

flippineck · 24/11/2008 21:15

Ooh, can I have a margarita too please? But you can keep those horrible salt and vinegar crisps (am I the only one not wanting them?) - I'll have some mini popadoms please, and a large bowl of olives.

I'm a central govt civil servant too, but screwed up my fab maternity pay as I took an extra 6 months career break after my last lot of maternity leave, and then got pregnant before I went back to work this time. about money, but obviously about being pregnant

CoteDAzur · 24/11/2008 21:16

Bugaboo Chameleon is great. You can steer it with one hand, and go up and down stairs on back wheels.

detsy · 24/11/2008 21:17

Bugaboo Bee for me - am pushchair bore too!

Oh dear Kettle S & V chips - may need to be more than the std sess for that.... esp with 2 bags as well!!!

My hb has been in 155 region - another pink one?

detsy · 24/11/2008 21:18

Blimey so of these 6 month full pay gals. Still I'm sure I'll be ok on my £400 a month...
