Thanks for the new thread kayz, almost posted my comments on the last one, but spotted this just in time!

kmp I carry my tummy at night too, I don't need to during the day though, so why at night? I am scared it might drop off??

kayz I am now crying with laughter at you misreading chutney's post about fanny pants!

arti a really satisfying wee is my biggest fantasy right now, I just can't wait! Any news yet from the MLU?

And very much ignoring arti's MW - has she ever drunk that? [yucky emoticon]

kayzisexpecting · 21/11/2008 12:43

I always tend to hold my tummy when I get up. I'm not sure why though.

Great thread name Enchanted and well done on creating the new thread kayz

I'm going to be a PITA and put up the 'due date' list again, as think that one is an old version which doesn't have all the new CS dates and other changes...

Just call me the list frootloop

OP posts:
daisydora · 21/11/2008 13:01

Morning,

kayz thanks for the new thread.

Am also of the bump holding brigade - for some reason it feels so much heavier when I get up in the night for a wee

Finished Xmas shopping yesterday, but got a bit giddy when I saw some fab heels with 25% off. Trying to squeeze my oversized fat puffy feet into some dainty 4" stillettos had DH nearly weeing himself for a change!!!! Think I gave the girls in the shop a good laugh too. I think the impending birth made me a bit too keen to try and get back into some heels. Settled a nice pair of 'smaller' more sensible heels

EffiePerine · 21/11/2008 13:09

I do NOT want to hear about people who have done their Xmas shopping - still not started here

jj: I'm an archivist in a scientific/technical library which is more interesting than it sounds . I loled at your non-speaking colleague, there are a lot of them about! Luckily we are all chatty and reasonably sociable, no pocket protectors or cataloguing geekiness (yet). We're part of a bigger library, so I often tell people I'm a librarian to avoid confusion.

kmp: sorry you're feeling crappy, I hgate those off-days when you're just exhuasted and uncomfortable. Try and get some rest if you can. Re tracky bottoms, I got some nice ones from Gap, cotton rather than cashmere but a nice shape (can get away with them for work) and v v comfy. About £22 as well which I thought pretty reasonable.

Those with DCs already, any suggestions for good online toy shopping? Will prb buy all DS's presents online, could just use Amazon but I thought I'd see what else was out there.

EffiePerine · 21/11/2008 13:11

oh and thanks to Kayz for starting the new thread!

re: fanny pants, found myself snapping at DS in the park t'other day 'oh stop fannying around!' . I AM turning into my mother...

(justification of mushy brain and tyring to move at toddler speed, i.e. stopping every two steps to examine grass/trees/dogs/twigs etc.)

Bisou · 21/11/2008 13:16

kayz I know!! A true baby-athon on Tue - it's so exciting!!

I hold my bump when I get up to wee too - I think because when I'm sleeping on my side he gets into a certain position but then he has to drop a bit again once I get vertical. I think it's an instinctual thing to support him or something. It's a bit weird isn't it? zoejeanne LOL @ "bump falling off"

Well I made the fish goujons tonight, and DH was over the moon to have 'fish n' chips' for a change! I won't buy it from the local shops as I'm a F&C snob and they pre-cook their battered fish (blugh). I like it cooked once, and fresh, it's sooo much nicer.

Anyway for anyone who wants to try DIY fish goujons, it's surprisingly easy. Just chop fish into small strips, then dip in seasoned flour, then beaten egg mix, then breadcrumbs and fry. You only need to turn them once, they only take 1-2 mins each side.

Oh and I bought some icecream today too, so I'm also more than happy to eat some in the name of helping out any fellow mumsnetter. I'm very selfless like that.

Bisou · 21/11/2008 13:19

and effie I haven't started my Xmas shopping either. I'll "la la la" with you, if that's alright...

zoejeanne · 21/11/2008 13:37

ahh, but bisou the bump just dropping off might be far easier than giving birth, so maybe we shouldn't hold it up any more ...?

kayzisexpecting · 21/11/2008 13:39

LOL at bump dropping off.

I have got a few presents but thats it. Must start to sort them out.

OP posts:
abbymeg · 21/11/2008 13:44

Many congratulations to pixsix and Mrs Mattie .

There's an August 2009 thread . It doesn't seem that long ago since the first thread, although time has slowed down considerably now the end is coming!

hiccymapops · 21/11/2008 14:11

Thank you you lot I'm having one of those days when everything goes wrong, and now i'm giggling away at you lot Between Kayz flashing, fanny pants, weeing in a potty (which i have considered myself ), and bumps dropping off, you've really cheered me up Not even slightly considering the orange juice cocktail though I'd rather be induced too.

Bisou thank you for that link about mattresses. I've been arguing with DH about replacing Bens first cot mattress, but DH insists that since Ben never actually slept in there for more than a couple of hours a night at most, and as it's a waterproof mattress, we needn't replace it. But i'm all for better safe than sorry, so we're getting one tomorrow.

kmp sorry you're feeling so pants, hope you start to perk up, just think, not long now

The midwife's been and dropped all her stuff off this morning. She had a feel, and asked me if i've been having any pains yet as the head is fully engaged and very low down already! Told DH who said they can't come yet as if they're on time, it'll work out that he gets all December off Charming, i'll just cross my legs then

hiccymapops · 21/11/2008 14:12

Meant to say thank you for the new thread Kayz

kmp1 · 21/11/2008 14:20

I seriously hope my pelvis HAS widened and it's not ALL extra fat! I just out a pair of drawstring pants on that once fell down if the drawstring wasn't done up tight (as they have no elastic) and now my THIGHS hold them up!!! !!! Does anyone know by how much your pelvic bones actually move???? Please say they do! Thanks to all the tracky bottoms advice - bugger Gap doesn't have a website! (I can't be bothered shopping these days!) !!
Another dumb question coming --- I have my cot mattress still wrapped in it's plastic as I was worried about making it up too early - will it be ok to make up 3 weeks out? I can always just re-wash the linen etc again right before my C/S date - or am i being silly?

kayzisexpecting · 21/11/2008 14:25

Hiccy My DH has said the same. He gets 2 weeks paternity leave and then the factory shuts for 2 weeks over xmas. But I don't want to wait another 3 weeks.

Just you watch, I'll still be here on the 12th, still pregnant and even more fed up!!

OP posts:
hattyyellow · 21/11/2008 14:30

Great title!

I had long debate with DH a few weeks ago re potty peeing en route to my mums. Her guest room we were in was up a tiny slippy creaky flight of stairs and I didn't fancy navigating them in the dark ten times a night.

He was relatively happy with the potty in the room concept, but then pointed out how strong pregnant pee smelt and I got too embarassed to consider the idea! Or is that just me with the horse smelling pee still!! .

Effie Great Little Trading Company is good for DC's. We've got ours dressing up clothes from Sainsburys -£9 for little doctors, pirates, princess or something else which escapes me. They love seeing DH going to work in his white physio tunic so they will probably be wearing their doctors outfits all Christmas day!

Have just had a huge clear of toys as our study is becoming the nursery this weekend, so our big cupboard we keep all the toys in downstairs will be filled with the computer and all DD's toys will be in neat boxes in the sitting room under the bookshelves. Well that's the theory, I imagine the room will look like a bomb has hit it every night and I will wish we had the cupboard back where I could barricade furniture across the door if I needed to keep the room tidy for visitors!
