Congratulations Flumpy She is gorgeous and what a pretty name!!!

We have a big snowman in the garden. My mum and her dp came round and DS made a snowman with his grandad.

Today might be the first day in a week where I'm hoping not to go into labour. Don't fancy the trip in the snow. The road between Whitby and Scarborough is apparently closed so hopefully there are no pg women stuck in Whitby. But I can't see the hospital there turning them away.

Flumpy congratulations - she's absolutely beautiful.

Daisy hope you're feeling better after your lie down. Is really hard being this pregnant and chasing round after toddler - am impressed you've not lost it before (I know I have). I still find mealtimes/refusing food particularly stressful - made worse by the fact that I know that getting wound up about it makes it all worse. So huge sympathy from me - am sure when you're DD wakes up she'll have forgotten all about it. The fact that you haven't shouted at her before, and are upset about doing it now shows what a good parent you are. With the best will in the world it's impossible to be patient all the time.

Rain has stopped here so I think will let DS get muddy in the garden once he's up from nap. He spent an hour this morning standing at the sink pouring water into and out of various containers. Brilliant low effort activity...poor child. Am sure should be doing something more with him in these last few weeks but way too tired.

majormoo · 23/11/2008 14:22

congratulations Flumpy-she is lovely and great name.

Daisy my DS turned two last month and if it is any consolation is driving me mad. I really shouted at him on Friday when he wouldn't eat his dinner-DH came downstairs (he works from home) to take over as he could hear me yelling. Of course I felt really guilty when I had calmed down and he said to me 'Me a good boy now mummy'. I just don't have the patience being so tired and feeling like I am going to wet myself/baby will fall out everytime I walk anywhere.

Very jealous of the snow. We hardly ever get any in Brighton.

hiccymapops · 23/11/2008 14:34

Hello everyone

Congratulations Flumpy she's absolutely gorgeous and a beautiful name. Hope you're managing to get some rest.

Daisy hope you feel better after your rest. If it's any consolation, my DS is just over 2 and a nightmare at mealtimes, he still has no interest in food, so i'm still at the point of trying to distract him so that i can shove some food into him lal stressfull is an understatement at mealtimes, i know myself i should be more relaxed about it, but you worry yourself to bits if they don't eat, which ends up in me getting irate at the poor little mite when he won't, especially now with Bumpy on the way. I'm sure your little one will have forgotten all about it when she gets up. Touch wood, Ben never seems to hold a grdge with his unstable, stressheading mummy at the minute (and bless him, he really should sometimes)

Did any off that make sense? I'm tired and rambly today (very regular occurance at the minute )

Hope everyone's having a good weekend xx

LadyThompson · 23/11/2008 18:07

Hello gorgeous girls

It was lovely to see people on Wednesday - thanks for organising it, our Beans. Didn't really get a proper chance to chat to everyone - felt I particularly neglected Lal as you were right the other end of the table. Your little boy was so cute though...

Just a quickie as tomorrow's going to be a bit hectic - into hospital at lunchtime for bloods and to sign consents, then returning 7am on Tuesday. Should be in theatre by 8am!

DP's party on Thursday night was a great success (we hired a room in the pub in the village up the road, and they cooked lots of Indian food for us. There is also an old-style bowling alley in there and can I just tell you I knocked down all the skittles in one - twice - which I took as a victory for heavily pregnant ladies everywhere ) and the Fat Duck on Fri was superb.

Flumpy, your babe is a poppet. Very excited now...

Pixsix - you are keeping us in such suspense with your birth story! Hope you are all ok. Sorry for mad multiple posting, it happens when I use my mobile.

Turnip - I love the Soho Hotel. Wondering mistily if I will ever return

KMP1 - is it you with the rib pain? I sympathise. I nearly went mad with it yesterday.

Hotmama - Reban lives in Brum as well. That's at least four of you for a Midlands meet up!

Who mentioned tracksuit bottoms? I splashed out on some Juicy ones. They still make my thighs look as far ranging as the Wild West. I think the £10 ones I've got are actually more flattering than the posh ones so more fool me. I am such a sucker about these things, though.

Arti, it's good to hear you sounding more cheery now you're off work.

Well, I'm a) a bit distracted and b) mad busy - in the rainy Oxfordshire countryside today, back to the Smoke tomorrow. Buckets of love and luck to you all, and most particularly Verso and Daisy for Tuesday. See you on the other siiiiiiiiiiiiiiiide...xxxxx

artichokes · 23/11/2008 18:11

Oooh - good luck LadyT. All fingers crossed for a smooth operation and a lovely first couple of day for BabyT. Are you taking her straight back to the country once you are discharged?

Congratulations Flumpy. Niamh is gorgeous.

Hi to everyone else. Back in a while once I have caught up.

LadyThompson · 23/11/2008 18:14

Hello Arti,

Yes, she's going back to the country and DP has told me firmly that there are to be no pitstops in London when we leave the hospital! So won't be in town for a good three weeks. Which will be strange but probably just the ticket.

reban · 23/11/2008 18:21

hello everyone, not posted in ages but as a new thread has been started ive decided to give up trying to catch up on the last one and start a fresh with this one .. sorry to cheat and hope i didnt miss anything important, please someone catch me up if i did!

First congratulations to mrsmattie pixsix and fluffy on new babies, so very very exciting

veggie i am with you on the no increase in breast measuremnts during pregnancy, biggest mine ever get is DD when breastfeeding so ive just bought some new bras that i know will fit.

hotmama i am from birmingham too and im sure someone else is as i have had this conversation months ago. Im in erdington, where are you?

LT and those having sections this week .. good luck

have been pants at keeping up to date cos ive had realy horrible chest infectiuon this week, also funeral (which was a 150 mile roundtrip) on thursday, family party on friday, christening today, its my last week at work this week but my mom now has to have some keyhole surgery on wednesday, i need to get my car sold or we will have no transport big enough for all of us, i need to wrap chrsitmas presents and seriously clean my house! So feeling a little bit ARGHHHH!

Am now going to take a deep breath, wish you all good luck and promise to keep up with the thread this time xxx

traceface · 23/11/2008 18:37

hello!
Congratulations flumpy - Niamh is beautiful!
Cat - sorry you've been having an emotional wobble. These things always plague us in the night as well. Try not to worry - you will just deal with stuff as it occurs and then look back and say 'how did we get through that?' but you will survive!!! Make use of any support you have (family, friends) and say yes when they offer to help. I didn't last time and will be doing things differently this time! If someone says 'how can I help', have some practical things in mind, eg, can you make me a sandwich for my lunch? Can you nip and get me some bread from the shop? Can you do my ironing/washing/ whatever... The lack of sleep is horrid, but it doesn't last for ever. I always reassure myself with the thought that whatever dd is doing (sucking a dummy, waking in the night, forgetting her manners, being incapable of wiping her bum after a poo...) she won't get to 18 and and still be doing those things, so it will end at some point! I didn't meet any dummy-suckers at uni, so we must all grow out of it at some point! waffle waffle...sorry!
Daisy - don't feel guilty for telling your little one off -as others have said, they don't hold a grudge (thankfully!) and you dc will still love you more than anyone or anything else in the world! My dd is going through another whining phase which is driving me mad, and sometimes I just sit there while she asks to play with me, and I'm too tired, then I get cross and feel bad, but it's soon forgotten. Hope your lie-down has refreshed you a little.
Today I just feel like sleeping! My eyes are so heavy (as is my bump!) but I'm not sure why - it's not like my sleep has suddenly got worse than it's been for the past few months! I like to think it's my body telling me to sleep because the baby's on its way...
Well I woke up to snow but it's all melted now
Hope you all have a good evening - am going to get an early night to try to sleep off my sleepiness!!

kayzisexpecting · 23/11/2008 18:54

LadyT Good luck for Tuesday. I'll be thinking of you, Verso and Daisy in the morning. Will be looking forward to hearing birth stories from you all.

Reban Sorry you haven't been well and you've had a hectic week on top of that. Try and put your feet up.

Trace I know what you mean about sleep. I feel sleepy all the time. But DS has decided he only wants one nap a day now. So I can't nap as much I want too.

Just had lasange and chips washed down with some shandy and it was so good. But it'll probably give me terrible heartburn soon.

Hope you are all ok and have had nice weekends.

Hello everyone,

Congratulations flumpy! What a gorgeous girl and a gorgeous name!

LadyT Eeek, not long for you now. The best of luck. Can't wait to see your announcement. You too verso! I feel like time has just flown by.

cat I worry about that sort of thing too. I'm sure it is completely natural to be fearful about becoming a parent.

Kayz Very jealous of the snow! We just got a little fluttering.

Sounds like lots of us are looking forward the simple pleasure of emptying our bladders! Runny brie is going to be a must too .

There are quite a few of you in the midlands. Anyone close to Manchester? If so, it would be good to have a north west Dec mums meet up!

I'm having an allergic reaction to something possibly the antibiotics I've been given for a chest infection. I'm so so so itcy and blotchy. It's horrible. The out of hours doctor recommended Piriton but it isn't doing anything so far. Fingers crossed I can see my GP tomorrow and get something effective. I could do with some adult size scratch mits!

Verso · 23/11/2008 19:51

Congratulations, flumpy!!!

OMG - two days to go . What can I say?! Good luck, daisy and LadyT. I find it hugely reassuring that I'm not really going to be going through the c/s experience alone, as it were. Best of luck and def compare notes on the other side!!

We had snow this morning but it disappeared quite quickly .

Feel like I'm preparing the last meal of the condemned woman or something tonight. I don't want to eat anything too rich tomorrow night because it seems counterproductive with the ranitidine - so tonight I'm doing roast beef (well done, alas) and Yorkshires . Yum!

Sorry for the lack of personals. I daresay I'll be welded to the PC soon enough with a baby clamped to my bosom!

Indith · 23/11/2008 20:13

Hello

Congrats Flumpy.

Feel very out of it, sorry I'm being so rubbish at keeping up with this thread. Must try harder!

Baby has dropped, have an empty top of bump! Been feeling pretty rubbish for past few days, very uncomfortable, niggles, painful tightenings etc, crampy periody feeling, inability to bend down (even more than usual!) Probably just the head settling in further down but not nice! Add to the mix a snotty, coughy, tired, badly sleeping, knows something is up, demanding toddler......

I want my dh back! 6 sleeps til return and travel ban.

daisydora · 23/11/2008 20:52

Back again, feeling a lot brighter after a sleep and DD being too cute with me this afternoon. Lack of sleep is awful when your as big as a house and unable to move much with a toddler .

verso & lady T in case I miss you tomorrow, good luck, can't wait to catch up afterwards. I'll be thinking of you both

DD is staying at my parents tomorow night, so we are having a fish & chip supper before I come home again( I keep calling it my last supper ). Then home for a nice relaxing bath and my rantidine at 10pm!!!!

Veggiemummy · 23/11/2008 22:05

hey all just lurking really back in Derby now after a busy but productive weekend in London. DS had fun seeing some of his friends and was telling us all the way home that it wasn't fair that we were going back to Derby as he wants to stay in London. Bless him, we did remind him his bike is in Derby and that made him have 2nd thoughts about how unfair it was. But i think he did always love London and misses many of his little friends.

right i'm off to make my slippery elm drink for my indigestion and off to bed. I'm also going to take some milk up with me to drink during the night. still cranky at that bloody non-ranitidine-prescribing GP but the good thing is when my beautiful boy comes the heartburn will go.

So excited for Daisy, Verso & Lady T really looking forward to hearing from you after tuesday.

hiccymapops · 23/11/2008 22:23

Evening everyone

We've just had a practice session with the birth pool and it's loads better than i expected. I'm really pleased we ordered one with handles inside as i remember gripping on for dear life when i had Ben, and they're very sturdy, it was actually quite comfortable. Had to laugh though, it says at the bottom 'strictly no diving'!!!

Is anyone else getting a pool? I didn't order a thermometer with mine, and the midwife told me on Friday that we need one. So just thought i'd mention it in case anyone else didn't get one. My DH got a proper water one from the aquatic centre near us for £2, and i was going to spend £13:99 at Mothercare! The only reason i didn't was they didn't have any.

Right i'll stop wittering now Just got all excited trying the pool, it's like it's really happening

Daisy, LadyT and Verso, i'll be thinking of you on Tuesday (just in case i don't manage to get on tomorrow) Hope it all goes really well, and i can't wait to see piccies

Olipop · 24/11/2008 07:19

Morning everyone! Congratulations Flumpy what a sweetie!

Good luck to the tuesday girls!

Cat I live in Twickenham!! What a coincidence!! Where were you going..grubby faces?? You could have popped in for a cuppa!

Had inlaws and SIL, BIL and big niece (20yrs) and little niece (9 weeks) round for dinner yesterday. DH and MIL cooked a roast..that may not sound that major but DH has cooked me one meal (unless you count toast or the odd sarnie) since we met 14 years ago! He did really well and it was lovely to sit on the sofa and get fed! He says he was just following orders from MIL but I still think it was impressive.

DS still having disturbed nights but a little bit improved. I can't quite see how we are going to do it with two....I guess it all comes out in the wash! I am also worried that the newbie will disturb DS and then I'll have a grumpy tired toddler to contend with. Wonder if you can get toddler sized earplugs!

kayzisexpecting · 24/11/2008 07:37

Morning,

I didn't sleep at all last night. I think I managed about 2 hours. I have an awful headache and a sore back. I don't think this brace is doing anything helpful.

Oli I was really worried about baby waking up DS but I was watching a baby program the other day and he slept through the crying so I'm hoping he'll sleep through when the crying is coming from the same room.

Not long now for the Tuesday CS girls!!!! I feel really excited for you 3!

I hope everyone is feeling well.

OP posts:
Verso · 24/11/2008 07:40

Oli I'm worried about coping with two as well. I'm just clinging to the fact that I have really LOW expectations of the first few weeks, compared to last time, so I'm hoping once the newborn fog clears a bit I'll feel reasonably on top of things. (I am probably deluded though ).

DH just left for work and said he's got butterflies for tomorrow so can't imagine how I must be feeling. Bless!

Off to the hospital this morning to see the counsellor for a pep talk, then round to my friend and her three-week-old, and then a final blissful potter waddle around M&S getting a last few bits for Christmas. (Sorry Effie but I was paranoid that if I didn't get Christmas done early this year it wouldn't happen in our family at all!)

daisydora · 24/11/2008 07:40

Me again - had a 'show' this morning!!!! I know that it means nothing might happen but with DD my waters went about 3 hours later DH has gone to work in a state of panic - hilarious I'm going in tomorrow anyway so its not like he isn't prepared!

Think the bum is very engaged (if thats more possible than just engaged!) as I can hardly walk and rolling over in bed last night was a virtual impossibility. Anyway I don't plan on leaving the sofa today, so if anything happens you'll all be the first to know

olipop my DD is a nightmare for waking in the night. She was awake at 5.30 today so at least she never woke before that. But she ALWAYS asks for me, so I too have visions of me getting baby settled and the DD wanting me up for the day!

kayzisexpecting · 24/11/2008 07:45

My DS always wakes up when DH gets up for work(at half 5) but this morning he was still asleep when I woke up at 7. What did stupid me do? Go and checked on him as I was a bit worried and woke him up!!!!

Hopefully I'll get a nap when DH gets home from work at 3. I might try when DS has his nap.

OP posts:
EffiePerine · 24/11/2008 08:59

Sorry about the bad night Kayz. I had a lot of unsettling ddom-laded dreams, then DS woke and 3 and came in with us, and again at 5 and finally at 6... also worried about coping with 2, especially as DS won;t settle for DH when I'm around. I'm with Verso in expecting the first weeks to be bloody hard and hoping I'll be pleasantly surprised!

Had a productive weekend, bought and ordered some new furniture to hopefully jazz the flat up a bit for prospective buyers (and hide some of our junk) and also washed all the newborn clothes and found a place for the bedding . Feel like I'm about ready now...

Hope you all have good weeks - freezing oold here. Will have to finish that baby cardigan and look out some little fleecy things.
