Thanks for the welcome. Had a bit of twinges down below last night in bed and again in the last hour but i guess that is just my body getting used to it isn't it? God this obsession again. Its 4 years since i was last pg and you forget how ever twinge means the baby is in trouble. Please stick.

Does anyone know of a website where they email you each week with how the baby is growing. I thiught i found one months ago whiclst ttc but can't find it now.

xx

SparkyMalarky · 17/01/2009 18:18

Hey spats - I had those twinges too and it's so scary, especially after a MC. Remember, the uterus has lots of stretching and growing to do so, even at this stage.

I signed up to babycentre.co.uk's emails - I still get them each month for DS as well It makes my friday getting the emails telling me how the bean has developed in the last week!

How's everyone else? Where is Heeby?

nelix2000 · 21/01/2009 10:36

Hiya Nelix

I'm still around - just not a lot to report at the moment - CD3 here, having just had my first proper AF post MC and it was hellish - hormonal meltdown + pain was not a pretty sight

Fingers crossed for an October baby The BFP's are piling up thick and fast over on the TTC thread - one of our original members got her BFP yesterday

nelix2000 · 21/01/2009 11:20

aw hoorah for them!!!! and good luck to you too jools its really good to hear from you!!! Hormonal meltdowns are the norm in my house the past few weeks.... my DP has been fantastic tho, I am sure she is glad when she has to go to work mind!

Hi ladies I finally found the thread Can I join in I've been on the ttc GFJ thread since September & got my BFP on Xmas day so I'm coming up on 8 wks this Friday.

I had an early scan last wk & saw a lovely strong heart beat which put my mind at rest & have another one booked in for Tues (Gyni offered so gladly excepted), then I have to start the ball rolling with the MW's

Havn't heard from Heeby on the ttc thread for ages, she usually pops up to congratulate any new bfp's...hope she is ok

Heebychick · 22/01/2009 05:29

Hello hello !!

I heard you shouting and thought i should come and say Hi! I'm so sorry for being miles away, we have all been suffering with illnesses and i just haven't any time to myself - plus i guess i felt sad for being on the ttc thread and being pg. I know everyone was still very pleased to have me there but was starting to feel a bit of a hypocrit and because i was only getting online every now and then i kept missing out on the stories so didn't feel i could oontribute much.

Anyhow, i'm sorry for being dull and promise to stay here always! (well for another 25 weeks!)

So as for me i'm doing really well, 15 weeks now and feeling tons better (part from having sinus infection and getting over flu (hence the early rising!) had our 12 week scan and all is fine and baby is doing well.

Really pleased to hear about the scans ladies, girls are just the best and can be so loving (or little madams like my DD!) well done to you both! We're not finding out what flavour we are having as want to keep it a surprise but have been thinking alot about the birth, had to have a c-sec last time because of a terrible labour, big baby and back to back so am swaying towards elective c-sec but sure i'll be gently coaxed away from that by gyni dr!

smileycat · 22/01/2009 08:00

Heeby glad to hear things are going well with you. 15 wks already wow you must have a little bump to show off by now? I'm only 8wks but my clothes are already tight & I've got a little bump that looks like I've put on weight
We have only told our 10 year old son so far sho is over the moon (& the gyni) but after the scan on Tues I think the word will get out as its a very small community here so I wont be able to keep it a secret for too much longer
We are thinking about flying back to UK during half term to tell the parents as I'll be around 12wks by then, but will only tell a few selected friends here & see how quickly the news gets back to me

Did any of you ladies opt for the blood tests etc for downs, I'm 39 this year & know that my risk is higher now as I'm in the older age range, do they just do it or do they ask you if you want it?

Heebychick · 22/01/2009 11:20

Hi smiley so nice to hear all is going well for you and you are nearing that magical 12 week stage. How are you feeling? i am sure that i was showing by 8 weeks, i think with the second and third etc children your body knows what to do quicker and everything kind of 'relaxes' as it were?

I had the Downs test after being asked at my booking in appointment with miwife at 10 weeks, we wanted to have it done so we could be forewarned of any possible problems and luckily the result came back yesterday as low risk which is great, i am 33 so i was beginning to get to edge of being higher risk. Do you think you will have it done?

We decided to not on whether we would terminate if something was to show up but more to give us the opportunity to plan, prepare and research before the birth so that we at least a little prepared before hand and it wasn't so much of a shock.

xx

smileycat · 22/01/2009 12:25

Heeby feeling ok, have had small waves of sickness but havn't been sick yet worst was this morn so it might be stepping up a gear. Boobs have been mega sore & a little bit of acid burps but apart from that not too bad. I really suffered with bad headaches with ds which went at 12wks so hoping that this means I wont get them & that it might mean a little girl although a healthy boy would be just as lovely
I will def have the test as like you I would need to know before hand so that I could make the right decission for us all. My dh has said that he wouldn't be able to cope if it came back pos, but I don't know I'll cross that bridge if it comes our way

We are going to find out the sex as soon as we can. my dh has to go away on a course back in uk for 3 months just before i'm 20 wks so hope to get an 18 wk detailed scan done

Joolsiam · 22/01/2009 12:31

Good to hear from you Heeby Glad all sounds well

A random question for you ladies, as it has been bugging me !!

Everyone says that you show more with subsequent pregnancies - what about post MC ? Obviously my uterus grew to make room for something that grew for nearly 12 weeks - is that likely to make a difference next time ?

Just curious really ...

nelix2000 · 22/01/2009 12:58

welcomesmiley congratulations!!!!

We chose to not have the downs test but my DP is aradiographer and had a look when we had the 20 week scan and things look ok, but I am only 28 which is the reason we never tested. We get what we get and as far as we know she is a 23 week healthy girl, anything else will be dealt with at birth.

Heeby so good to hear from you!and glad everything is ok!

Jools not sure. You were pregnant and I would assume since your womb has stretched and ligaments etc that you will show sooner. I don't think carrying a pregnancy to term means you show sooner as thing change the instant you are pregnant. So in my non medical expert opinion, I would say yes you will show sooner. I just hope you get that news soon!!

SparkyMalarky · 22/01/2009 18:49

oooh ladies we're all here!!

heeby - is sooo lovely to have you back and pleased that you're now 15 weeks and all well!! I'm now starting to think about a VBAC after a planned section last time.......MW very keen, I keep changing my mind!

Jools -I don't know about the MC/showing thing. I'd already had a baby before the MC, but I didn't show that much earlier this time than I did with DS - in fact I could still fit into some normal trousers at 13 weeks this time, I don't remember doing that with DS....of course some of may be down to losing weight etc...and I think if you have a v flat stomach (oh I remember those pre DS days) you show early no matter what PG it is! You will have to see what the results are when you get your BFP v soon (fingers crossed it will be your month this month hon )

Smiley - I'm 33 and we had the triple test thingy where they do the bloods and the scan and give you a combined risk. I'm a control freak so have to have all information to hand just as Heeby said. Risk came out at 1:11,000 so felt much better after it all But definitely felt that even if it had showed a high risk, would want to be able to ask all the necessary questions, have further tests etc so we could make an informed decision....

of course ultimately there are no guarantees from those tests, but at least they offer some peace of mind!!

So - any feelings about what you're having Heeby and Smiley?

smileycat · 22/01/2009 18:56

Both me & DH would love a little girl as we already have a ds & this will def be our last one, but if its another boy I will love it just the same. I had a dream last night & I was changing a new baby (don't know if it was mine or not) but it was a boy!!!

Joolsiam · 22/01/2009 20:01

"flat stomach"

errrrrr - what's that then ?

Heebychick · 23/01/2009 20:27

Ditto jools i can't remember the last time i had a flat stomach! oh yes i do, the days i used to wear those skinny FCUK jeans just before i got married....sigh. I'm sure this is why i'm showing early, because i was huge with DD and then didn't (ahem) do much at all exercise wise to build my tummy muscles back up again, then once i became pg i guess my tummy thought - weyhey bluuuuuuurrp relax! (that and i don't have to breathe in now!)

I meant to say i have been feeling bean for about a week now, was laying in bed on the day i turned 14 weeks and thought i could feel that suspicious 'popping' and thought 'no can't be it's way too early' but then every day has been the same, i am totally convinced now, it's only when i stop and think and not all the time but it is def movement - lovely!

sparky i had the same results 1:11,000 as i guess i'm the same age 33 so that would make sense.

As for sex, i am sure we are having a girl again, don't know why, i feel exactly the same as before and i did the ring test which said a girl, but really we don't mind. if we have a DS then our family is done but if we have another DD then i think we might go for 3!!! eeek!

Heebychick · 23/01/2009 20:52

by the way smiley not sure if you already have them but i found the only thing that worked (despite all the ginger biscuits, ginger tea, ginger cordial) was elastic seasickness bands i bought from my chemist, making sure i put them in the right place they truly worked for me! Try them (you can have mine if you like) i kept them on 24/7 and i noticed as soon as i took them off i felt sick within minutes - strange but true. Hope your nausea goes rather than gets any worse tho hun x

smileycat · 24/01/2009 09:16

Heeby made a lovely tea last night then sat down to eat it & although I didn't feel sick I just didn't want it & had to force myself to eat at least half....but I feel ok this morning, DH is making us a brunch so hopefully I'll be able to eat up. My sicky feelings tend to come on in the evening I guess when I'm more tired

We have booked flights back to UK to tell the family, have loads of running around to do in 5 days but it will be worth it to see their faces when we tell them. We have always said that we were happy with one when anyone asked if we were going add to our family, so they will be more than shocked when we give them the news

My niece is due at the end of June with her second so my mum will be a great nannie & a nannie again 2 months later

Heebychick · 25/01/2009 20:12

smiley that's lovely about your mum, how pleased they are going to be, such lovely news for them - i can't wait to hear how the annuncement goes - i bet you'll be bursting from the minute you arrive!

i know how you feel re food, and yes i felt so much worse when i was tired or hungry, the sick bands worked and also i'd nibble on something and that helped - even if i wasn't hungry. i went off all my fav dishes last time and this time i'm off sweet things too!!! (what's that all about!!)

WanabeMum · 26/01/2009 12:55

Hey ladies,

Too nervous to come over and set up shop just yet but wanted to tell you all I GOT MY BFP!!!!!!

I'm watching you all and will come over when I near the 12 weeks mark. Only half way at the moment but may pop in occasionally to see how you are all doing.

TTFN xxxxx

smileycat · 26/01/2009 13:56

Welcome Wannabe bet you come over sooner than 12wks I did thought I could hold out, but needed to hear & talk news

I have my second scan booked for tomorrow morning (was already booked). I was feeling really good after the scan a couple of wks ago when I saw a heartbeat, but then Villagemum also saw her babies heatbeat at around the same time then went back 2 wks later & it had died, so I'm pretty nervous about tomorrows scan now & can't wait to get it over with to see the out come. I know its pretty rare for it to fail once you have seen the heartbeat, but it just puts doubts in your mind....I will keep you posted when I know more

Heebychick · 26/01/2009 16:18

waaaaaannnnnbe!!!! wonderful news, come join us! Keep positive honey and lots of love and luck xxx

spats · 26/01/2009 17:11

Thought i would cehck in. 7 weeks tommorrow and not feeling sick yet , not sure if good or bad thing!! part of me wants to feel sick so i know i am truley pg but then i don't want it really as i had it until 20 weeks with other 2. Badly aching boobs so guess its a sign anyway. Started to tell close friends although feel like i am jinxing it everytime i mention it. Brought 1st baby mag just to find out the week by week info. trying not to think about it or get attched just in case. Found out a clinic in london which does private scans - fetal medicine one, anyone been there? DOes lots more blood work and checks for a nasal bone which is usually absent in downs syndrome. I am 35 now and feel will have a high risk. I get paranoid. DH says whatever we get given we get given. I gues that is right but i would like to have some advance warning. Hope everyone and their bumps are doing OK. x

smileycat · 26/01/2009 18:33

Hi Spats welcome to the graduates thread

I'm still not being sick but am feeling quite sicky in the afternoon/evening & although I'm not actually sick I can't seem to finish my dinner (just don't want it) told dh I might just stick to toast & cereal for a wk or so see if that works saves wasting good food.

I think because we want our pg so much we are bound to worry about every little thing. I don't remember worring at all with ds I just excepted that I was pg & got on with it wish I could this time
I'm determind that after the scan tomorrow if all is well I'm going to start enjoying it & stop worring that I'm going to loose it

smileycat · 27/01/2009 09:54

Just got back from my scan & was so happy to see a heart beat, a head, arms & buds for legs, it makes it all seems so real now. Had to book in with a midwife so I guess word will now get out (small community) my gyni wants me to go for a proper dating scan could be as early as Thursday as her machine is old & not calibrated to give a good measurement as I will have to go back to UK for the downs tests & need to know when I will def be 12wks.
She said that there is a 20% chance of miscarriage in the 1st 6wks then when you see a heart beat between 6 & 8wks it goes down to around 7%, then after 8wks its a little as 1% to 1/2%. hope that puts some minds at rest
