Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

I'm in a FB group about lowering the age and we have to keep telling people to cut the abortion debates out, people can't see the difference. To be honest if I could inflict my morals on everyone I would have them stopped but it is a moral issue when does life begin and you can't legislate that, but a baby who could live I don't see any two ways about it being wrong - and I'm talking convenience here, someone wrote that they would have to make the decision at some point to turn off a life support machine so what's different about an artificial one to the one that was her body?

If you think 24 weeks is too long, or even 20 weeks, Australia is campaigning against 34 weeks and Canada is even higher!

MarkStretch · 06/10/2008 15:35

TBM- that article was lovely.

Found out today that DSD has shingles. Great.

Dr says I should be ok as long as I didn't touch her skin. I was rubbing cream into her 'eczema' all weekend.

rosieposey · 06/10/2008 16:11

Hi all, good weekend here - went away to Bristol and went to swanky cinema where they serve hot food to your seat ( that reclined and was like a sofa! ) Very nice.

TBM just read your story on FB - bless Lily Hope, it made me so sad, Im not anti abortion per se, but i am with you on lowering the age... 20 weeks for me is still waaayyy to high.

Markstretch, it wont reflect badly on you if you refuse to do the polly pocket thing every so often with DSD and leave DH in charge you know, you are pregnant and in your 5th month so need to rest and be generally pampered ... id be getting a proper case of the arse by now - the earlier advice about checking into a hotel or even sneaking off to see a mate next weekend or the weekend after ( maybe DH needs some notice ) seems to me to be a good way of demonstrating your pissed offed-ness (i know thats not a word but you know what i mean). Dont know much about shingles in pregnancy but my sister caught chicken pox at around this gestation and her daughter was fine - also was told by doctor in last pregnancy as i too was around someone who had shingles that as long as i had had chicken pox and if i caught shingles that lo would be ok as i had antibodies to protect baby from virus - dont know if youve had chicken pox though?

Have big stinky headache from doing sodding wedding invites ( theres sooo many ) and i dont feel like cooking dinner either! I wish it was the weekend again

laidbackinengland · 06/10/2008 16:29

Great article TBM ! I'm sure Tink will love being in a newspaper when she's older !

DS3 has chickenpox at the moment - but, touch wood, has been fairly ok with it and the spots are limited to his legs/bottom and trunk (body rather than elephant part.)

I've got a ridiculous cough ! No peeing accidents, but have pulled muscles in my stomach that I thought were non existent and was sick on the way to school through havin a coughing fit .

Great coat tips. I have a gap maternity pea coat from four years ago with DS2 - It cost £60, but has lasted a long time and has been fine when not pregnant too.

Rosie - that cinema sounds fantastic !

PinkTulips · 06/10/2008 16:38

ouch poor you laidback

i hate coughing while preg, it always feels like i've done myself damage. hope it eases for you soon..... get to the chemists and gets some Nelson's Sootha, it's for kids but my dad took it once when he was stuck and swears it did more for his cough then the medicated stuff he was taking. it's safe in preg too as it's homeopathic.

mrsy · 06/10/2008 16:48

Hey all -

TBM, that article was amazing. It's bizzare that the baby I'm carrying could be born and live that long.

MS - don't worry about the shingles thing, I'm sure that everything will be okay.

Well, guess who caught their husband's s&d bug? It started yesterday afternoon when we drove to John's work to pick up his car. Not only was I sick all over the car park, I wet myself as well... Have totally lost control of my bladder, and my poor hubby had to wipe up three of my bodily functions - crash course in parenting!

And joy of joys, can't take anything to help me. My stomach muscle's are shot to shit, and even sneezing makes me cry with pain - i feel like I've been hit by a bus.

Thankfully now I can keep water down, and I'm gonna try a slice of bread in a minute. Fingers crossed I can go to work tomorrow, as I'm only paid when I work.

rosieposey · 06/10/2008 17:23

Yep laidback, its called the 'Directors Hall' and you pay double to watch a movie in there but you have to go thru an exclusive lounge where you can order food and drinks they then deliver it to your seat - the bento box is either sweet or savoury and crammed full of gorgeous stuff like yakatori chicken, potato wedges, cheese and tomato bruchetta and all that good stuff. I had a night off being pregnant and diabetic and scoffed some ben and jerrys as well ( naughty, naughty)

This is the first pregnancy that this has happened but i think my pelvic floors buggered. Everytime i sneeze a little bit of wee comes out . Oh god - my faculities are never going to be the same again! Mrsy i hope you feel better soon you poor thing s&d bugs are horrid ( i have a real fear of being sick) and my DP only gets paid as well when he works so its a bummer when you are ill and cant go in

Rachrox · 06/10/2008 17:24

TBM Your story is so sweet and amazing, Tink is so beautiful, bless her. I agree that the abortion rules need changing, i had my 1st dd at 28 wks and my best friend had her ds at 23 wks last year, if babies can survive that early they should have the right to be fought for...

I've just realised that in 4 months time we will be popping...... scary stuff!!

mrsy · 06/10/2008 17:29

Thanks rosie -

I'm not actually being sick still, but it wasn't pleasant. It one of the things I can't deal with - especially as it was overnight, so couldn't get much sleep.

Now I'm just knackered and sore, but I'm feeling a bit peckish, so that should be a good sign.

MarkStretch · 06/10/2008 18:32

Er, I have a QUESTION....

I have not given birth in my local hospital before.

I walked past the Delivery Suite the other week when I was in and there were huge closed double doors with frosted glass giving the impression that Bad Things happen there....

So do you think I will get a chance to look round or what?

rosieposey · 06/10/2008 18:58

Yes you can ask at the hospital for a tour of the delivery suite or if you are having antenatal classes then they usually include that too.

MarkStretch · 06/10/2008 19:11

Well that's the other thing Rosie, should we have antenatal classes or not?

No one has offered us any and we have done this before, although a good few years ago and not together!

TinkerBellesMum · 06/10/2008 19:15

They should have refreshers, I was going to do a first time course as I've only had prem babies but because I've had a CS and want to know about VBAC they've put me on the refreshers course. Go for it, I run a chums4mums group and we have a MW who regrets it because she doesn't have that group of friends that people get from doing the course which has made her PNI worse.

lardybump · 06/10/2008 20:11

Evening all. I am not here I am on holiday....... Just taken some time off to get the house and loft soreted, but dp is on the ps3 so I thought I would pop on.

TBM I am also sitting here crying...... What a touching story, you are an inspiration.......

MS I live in kent and they dont do AN classes on the NHS but do do an hour tour of the hospital so you should ask your MW (usualy done at 32 weeks)...

I ahve been out for a meal tonight and can not believe what I have put away. I feel so stuffed now...... and fat....... and bleugh..

Hi to everyone else ...

TinkerBellesMum · 06/10/2008 20:30

I should be banned from giving the link to pregnant women! I don't think I've made so many people cry before.

MarkStretch · 06/10/2008 21:34

I really want to be a motorway cop...

dinkymum · 06/10/2008 21:37

hiya, had my scan today and everything is fine!
We're having a little boy!
The placenta is low so have to go back at Christmas time for another scan to check things, also my DD was tiny and I was under consultant with her because of that. Well this baby is apparently at the opposite end of things! and they're expecting him to be about 9 1/2 llbs!! eek! DD was only 5llb 12oz have to go back for a glucose test in November too.

Hope everyone else is well!

TinkerBellesMum · 06/10/2008 21:46

MS, why?

MarkStretch · 06/10/2008 21:48

Just watching the programme on BBC1.

I want to pull over naughty people and flex my authority.

Don't want to do the accidents- I'll leave that to DH!

MarkStretch · 06/10/2008 21:52

Congrats Dinkymum! Another boy in the group!

rosieposey · 06/10/2008 22:38

Congrats Dinkymum

dinkymum · 06/10/2008 23:04

Thankyou! and congratulation to everyone else whose had their scan!
MS I love those sort of shows! lol

herbgarden · 07/10/2008 08:22

Congrats dinkymum boys are lovely.

Anyone else suffering from night cramps in their legs? I get horrible cramp in my calf muscles if I stretch out and then find it difficult to loosen it up.....

dinkystinky · 07/10/2008 08:41

Congrats Dinkymum - another Dinkyboy in Feb! Boys are lovely - and am sure your DD will love being a big sister to a little brother (little boys tend to bring out more of the protective elder sister in toddlers apparently according to my friends who have had all sorts)...

Herbgarden - I get calf cramps, its an absolute bugger. You can try stretching out the calf before you go to bed (or rolling a ball under your feet - never worked for me but may do for you) but what you really need to do is increase your potassium intake - you could eat your body's weight in banana's each day or try taking some Mag-Phos (which is what am doing, Magnesium Phosphate) on those days when is really bad - got mine from Neal's Yard but apparently a number of health food stores stock it. Got it recommended to me by my yoga teacher.

dinkystinky · 07/10/2008 08:42

P.S. Herbgarden - DH wants me to enquire as to whether its me you vaguely know of or him you vaguely know of from your former city lawyer life?
