barb It sounds very much like an iron thingy to me. It's very common to have low iron at this point. Taking some spatone/flouradix won't do you any harm until you get a proper diagnosis.

sparkletoes · 09/10/2008 15:53

Just seen your post Barbareeba totally agree with the advice given, get it checked if it worrying you. You are not being paranoid or anything and always better to get checked and then you can relax...

barbareebaa · 09/10/2008 15:54

I'm woried about going to the hosp.
Wish dh was here
being a bit pathetic now.
[gives self a shake]
Think I will just wait a bit and see.

Okeedoke. Can you get flouradix from superdrug? That sounds like a plan! Will phone dh and ask him to get some on way home.

What a flake I am

x

Pinkyminkee · 09/10/2008 16:00

I wouldn't worry. They would prolly be able to get the results of a blood test much more quickly than the mw, that's all. Are you finding you bruise easily? That's another very common symptom for anaemia. I am forever becoming anaemic, as my body doesn't retain iron very well.

Pinkyminkee · 09/10/2008 16:02

yup frouradix or spatone from most chemists. And some orange juiice to go with it. And sit down, put your feet up.x

barbareebaa · 09/10/2008 16:08

Haven't really noticed bruising but the lack of iron makes total sense when I think about my diet over the last 3 days
Will go and get myself a large drink of water and pull myself together!!
Really appreciate all your words of wisdom. I think I just haven't felt unwell at all during preg so am FREAKING OUT at the slightest thing.

ruthosaurus · 09/10/2008 16:10

Good luck barb - you're not a flake! It's worrying when the way you were feeling changes suddenly and of course your main concern is li'l barb.

Sparkle, I never had anything waxed before and have some nervous waxing qs: 1) does it hurt like heck? 2) if I'm due on 12th Nov when is about the right time to get bikini line done? 3) really, are you sure it doesn't hurt? I'm not bothered about getting my legs as I can still reach them to shave them, but I am not trusting my bikini line to DH with a sharp blade as there are arteries near there, not to mention other things that shouldn't be given a premature episiotomy...

barbareebaa · 09/10/2008 16:12

O.k.
Am going to phone dh with a shopping list
[ahem]
Flouradix
broccoli, peas, sprouts
fresh orange
cake

I am liking the added suggestion of cake Barbs - Hope you feel better soon.
pinky glad you and DD have had a nice day and you are feeing a bit better.
I'm not going to even attempt to measure my waist - I do not want to know

ruthosaurus · 09/10/2008 16:37

Ooh, they're going to think I'm a Mrs Yeti at that hospital in November at this rate... They'll bring students in to see the ape-woman give birth.

Hana, I might wuss out and use Immac this time. I assume it is safe for use in pregnancy? I just have a gut feeling that this really really isn't a great time to be inflicting unwarranted pain and ingrowing hairs on myself...

Pinkyminkee · 09/10/2008 16:39

Thanks lacks
oh lord please excuse my spelling. I prefer floradix to spatone. The orange juice is not to dissolve it in, it's to wash it down afterwards- tastes a bit like plant food asd well as looking like it and vit C helps you absorb iron.

ChocOrange05 · 09/10/2008 16:41

Dozy I measured my waist aroung my belly button at the weekend and it was 43 inches!!!

Love the name Elise - if I didn't know someone was using it I would be tempted to steal it! Also love the name Finlay - I wanted it for our boy but DH said it would just remind him of Finlay Quaye , but I also remembered that the little boy who lived in our house before us was called Finlay so that would be a bit wierd. A similar name which I really like is Flynn (it means son of the red-haired one and DH is ginger!)

Barb hope you feel better - order of shopping priority should be Flouradix then CAKE!

Going for a curry tonight - I am 37 weeks on Saturday so hoping I am not going to kick start things early!! I need a little more time!!

Heartmum2Jamie · 09/10/2008 16:56

I am currently taking floradix AND spatone as I feel like my iron levels are circling the drain. I was told that I am very pale today and I do feel quite tired, but I think it is reather that I have done too much over the last few days and not rested enough and now I am paying for it, rather than actually being anemic. I take the floradix straight, but the spatone I take in OJ.

Loving the names discussion. I have to admit to staying clear of the babyname board, they are so damed hostile over there! I really like all the names mentioned here so far. I wish we could actually settle on a name, still stuck with Zack as the only thing we can come up with, but being so close to meeting him, we figured we may as wait and see what he looks like now! He may not look like a Zack at all.

Out of curiosity, I just measured around my bump/belly button and got 42in, not bad for someone who was supposedly going to have an 11lb + baby, lol!

ruthosaurus · 09/10/2008 17:02

Apparently Finlay means "Fair-haired warrior" but I just like the sound of it! DH's sideies grow in ginger so maybe Finn would be better, but it doesn't work with the surname.

Chocorange, have the korma, pet. I love curry but last time I had it my stupid pg tastebuds decided they weren't playing, and then my tummy joined in and I sat there eating bloody poppadums and yoghurt dip.

ceebee74 · 09/10/2008 17:13

Afternoon - have had a very busy day today and am now officially knackered!

Loving the name discussions . Betti love Isla Rose - tis so pretty. Also, my nephew is called Finlay (Sparkle you weren't in Edinburgh yesterday were you??) and I am a little bit as it would deffo have been one of my chosen names but can't use it now and it doesn't really go with our surname anyway.

Barbs hope you feel better once you get some iron into you.

Will catch up properly later but it has taken me about half an hour to read the thread and DH will be back in a mo with DS and I need to unpack the dishwasher!

chocolategal · 09/10/2008 17:14

afternoon everyone!

another chatty day!
am liking how all friendly we are when discussing names....some of the threads are just nasty!!
for a girl we would have had neave but since im having a boy thats no good!! boys names are harder! so far we have short listed fraser and ewan (both very scottish names!)

barbareebaa you are not being "flaky", just take it easy and if in anyway worried phone the mw or hosp!

i had babys 34week scan to check the kidneys again today and unfortunately they are worse saw the very nice scan lady, mw and consultant. measurements now both 11mm.
cricri what were your little girls again?
Dr said now they are over 10 it automatically generates a referral to the paediatricians who will follow baby up on birth but is now looking most likely he will need antibiotics and regular kidney scans for first year.
there is a protocol been put in my notes of how it is managed if you are intersted cricri i can mail you via facebook

on a good note, baby seems to be growing well, maybe too well!! he is measuring approx 2weeks ahead of dates and estimated 6lbs 4ounces already!
dont know how accurate this is........

ChocOrange05 · 09/10/2008 17:15

I like all the comments about the baby names threads - there really are some people out there who make the most of the MN anonymity!! I am going to start a thread now for Elvis - I have the opinions of most of the lovely ladies on here but I just want to watch the riot!

http://www.mumsnet.com/Talk/baby_names/624082-elvis?rnd=1223568921671 Here it is.

ChocOrange05 · 09/10/2008 17:16

Oops - here

chocolategal · 09/10/2008 17:19

have posted on that thread chocorange!!!

cricri · 09/10/2008 17:21

Barbareeba Hope the spatone/floradix does the trick. It's totally understandable that you're worried about every little niggle at this stage.
Choc I don't mind if you steal Elise - like I said earlier, I'm happy to share! Enjoy the curry
I'm coaching trampolining tonight - will be tempted to get on and have a bounce from next week once I'm past 37 weeks just to get things moving a bit! Tonight though I'll just be coaching from my chair on the floor because I'm worn out!
Chocolategal Your scan was today wasn't it? Hope it went well.
Betti I love Isla. And Finlay too. I considered Orla as another possibility - I really like that name for some reason although DH wasn't so keen.

ChocOrange05 · 09/10/2008 17:22

Thanks chocolategal - I am already smiling at the random responses and utter honesty of some people!

cricri · 09/10/2008 17:23

Oops Chocolategal, just X-posted. Will email you on FB with the details but sorry to hear it's got worse Try not to worry though - it doesn't seem to be an exact science from what I can tell.
