ALSO TRY WHITE STUFF AND FAT FACE FOR WRAP DRESSES!!!!

ruthosaurus · 09/10/2008 13:28

I love Fat Face but I have one myself now so feel embarrassed about going in there! White Stuff? I am obviously out of the loop on non-maternity clothing.

I tell you what, though - I am really going to miss my H&M maternity leggings, they are so comedy. I look like a pregnant cat burglar in them.

ruthosaurus · 09/10/2008 13:44

I've just done a quick google on nursing dresses:

bellamama.co.uk/store/WsDefault.asp?Cat=BreastfeedingDresses

www.mamaway.co.uk/ShopStyle/rgcj3/ShowGoods.asp?category_id=4&parent_id=0

www.appleblossomclothing.com/epages/es111081.sf/en_GB/?ObjectPath=/Shops/es111081_es120834940920/Cat egories/Dresses

Anyway, I should get on with some work. Should. Not will.

sparkletoes · 09/10/2008 13:51

LOL at pregnant cat burglar Ruthy!!

Comfy rules tho. Goodness knows what my outfit makes me look like! Right now - a stripy beachball!!

Am having major will-fights with DS today. He is testing the boundaries big time. I am having none of it but DH too soft and even worse his parents coming to stay tonight and just know they will not help matters. Wish me luck!

barbareebaa · 09/10/2008 13:55

Hi All,
Feel a bit naughty today... am having a sick day off work today - tomorrow is my last day at work - they will probably think am skiving Feeling a bit 'waffy' - dizzy and sick and a bit crampy but not massively, just a bit 'odd'. Oh well!

Loving the names discussion - Elise is beeeautiflus!

Rutho lol 'pregnant cat burgler'! Fab image!

Re: putting on weight - my friend said when she was pregnant she had a sensation that she was being followed around - then she
realised it was her arse

M2B Decided against ECV just on a 'feeling' rather than any medical reasoning. Just don't want him messed about with iyswim. I worry that they can't see what they're doing and I don't want him to be distressed. But I am a wuss and it's probably completely safe etc!

Pinkyminkee · 09/10/2008 13:57

Thank you everyone for your kind words. We had a lovely morning in the park for DD's birthday and she is now having a nap-result!!

The thing that gets me down is she likes to make noises of being all helpful and 'there for me' but when it comes to it, she neverr is. I don't know why I fall for it every time.

DH and I have decided we are not going rely on her at all this time, we have friends who have made genuine offers of help and we are going to take them up.. she'll kick off big time about it, though, because she loves to make out to everyone how indispensible she is (complete fantasy). I see her once every other week, she comes over and I make her lunch. She did look after the DC's for an hour yesterday when I went for my scan, which is prolly the reason for the martydom speech to the shop lady.

LOve the names! Elise is gorgeous, I know of Dozy's and they are fab. Neil is very stylish, methinks. Any more??

ruthosaurus · 09/10/2008 13:58

Ooh, barb, hope you feel better soon. I am really slogging through the days here and cannot WAIT until my last day on Fri (although I have my CT scan in the morning and a meeting in the afternoon, so it's not exactly work, is it?).

Pinkyminkee · 09/10/2008 13:59

Wrap dressses- is this for nursing? They are great. The best thing I foind is the two vest trick, one above one pulled under the boobs, that way there are no chilly bits.

sparkletoes · 09/10/2008 14:22

I got a great (was even non-maternity!) top from Asda last time that followed that trick Pinky. Wore it literally to threads.

Pinkyminkee · 09/10/2008 14:28

I should also say, that I am prolly very lucky to only have my parents to put up with. Dsis won't be coming over from OZ and no way DB will come up before Christmas. So those with family visiting have my deepest sympathy- unless they know that their role is to make cups of tea and fold nappies! A spot of hoovering never goes amiss, either!! (I say this, as this is apparrently what you should expect, though I have no direct experience to draw upon!).

You guys have really cheered me up, honestly. Thank you soo much.x

coolkat · 09/10/2008 14:30

Ahh interesting on the wrap dresses as I will obviously have to get an outfit for 'the wedding' and do not want to spend loads on something that I will not wear once shifted some pounds. I had ruled out dresses due to feeding etc but perhaps a wrap dress is the answer and could be worn dressed up or down afterwards

Decided to order boots from Next rather than go to the city.

Names, I like Hannah, Kate sounded good

Our little girl is going to be called Rebecca Mae, I like mae. DD1's middle name is lois.

Monkey I am def no Vic Beckham, normally size 10/12, prior to DD1's birth was always an 8, I am sure they changed the sizing whilst I was pregnant !!

Dozymare · 09/10/2008 14:31

i am officially MASSIVE - 42 inch waist what possesed me to measure I don't know....has anyone else measureD yet?!!!

Pinkky glad you are feeling better, this thread is great for support, like 50 virtual best friends

Betti · 09/10/2008 14:31

Dozymare - obviously we love Monty and I'm at other people's reactions to it (not in RL but on names board). I have never been brave enough to stick up for someone on the names board who has expressed a liking for it....they always seem to get slated! When we chose it one of our friends said 'how far up your ar*e are you?!" so I did have a wobble about using it but I'm so pleased I did now. He couldn't possibly be any other name . Our problem is finding something to go with it. Loving your choice but friend has just used it so that's out. I find it so much easier choosing girl's names and have one in mind but it'll be sod's law that this one pops out as a boy.

wrap dresses - I got some nice 'Crave' ones on Ebay.

Pinkyminkee · 09/10/2008 14:35

DM what is this 'waist' thing of which you speak?? I'm sure Ihad one, once, quite a slim one, in fact, but it is no longer with me..

Hannah is a lovely name, my friend's DD has it. Rebeeca Mae is lovely. Mary is one of DD's middle names.

Oblomov · 09/10/2008 14:39

We all know what Dozys names are. They are all nice.
Betti do you still need name help ?

Measuremments :
36 just under bust - no real change

44 round the tummy. Told you it was a beach ball.

Pinkyminkee · 09/10/2008 14:42

Betti I just had a look at your names thread- what a bunch of cheeeky mares?? Jeez.
Boys always take the piss out of each other's names. I have a friend called Mark- innocent enough, except hie friends all still call him skid.. nice.. but my point is, going 'consevative' with names doesn't guarantee they won't be teased.
My boy's name is a bit unusual, but he suits it and most people seem to be pleasant enough about it. I'm sure his mates will come up with some sort of witty nickname at some point.

MonkeyMargot · 09/10/2008 14:52

pinky is right, people take the piss whatever.
betti - there were some good suggestions on your name thread i thought - I like Byron. (I can't have it as it sounds daft with my surname). I am going for a slightly unusual boy's name. Go for it!!!

Betti · 09/10/2008 15:01

thanks ladies. Trouble is DH and I have such different ideas on boys names. I'm almost hoping this one is a girl so we don't have to worry but I would feel a lot happier if I had a short list even. I would like something a bit unusual but not completely way out - I'm not brave enough!

For a girl I we have chosen Isla Rose.

ruthosaurus · 09/10/2008 15:06

I just tried to measure my waist with a colleagues metre ruler - I think I measure about 39" around the middle but the ruler kept slipping. I do have a waist but it's hiding.

Betti, for what it's worth, I think Monty is ace and you call YOUR son what YOU want! If you settle for a name that you think other people will appprove of you'll just regret it. I am insisting on Finlay for a boy as I love it to bits even though some rellies have made funny noises about it because I know I'd always think of him as Finlay...

Betti · 09/10/2008 15:16

ruthosaurus this is why I never reveal my name preferences in RL anymore. If I'd have listened to what people said when we decided on Monty, I would never have had the nerve to go through with using it. As it is it really suits him and no one comments on it apart from to say it's nice. My friend has just had a 'Noah' which I love but when I spoke about him to my mum, she shrieked 'what kind of name is that!!!!' God knows what she'll say if we dare to have another 'unusual' name!!

I love Finlay btw. It's on my list but DH doesn't like it. Men always seem to 'have been to school with someone with that name and he was a twat!' FORGET ABOUT THAT!!!!!!!!

misdee · 09/10/2008 15:18

secret stork

thank you whoever sent me the lovely bathrobe for baby. its gorgeous and very soft. i love it !

Barb if you're really worried can you go to your local maternity centre/hospital? Not sure about the nausea but the dizziness is cause for concern.

Just one thing if you do tho', have a shower beforehand and pack an overnight bag in case they keep you in. Not being scary, just that I did neither of these the other week and then got kept overnight unexpectedly so DH had to go home for my jamas and I didn't get a chance to wash, urgh.

Big hug.

sparkletoes · 09/10/2008 15:49

Hi again, just back from being waxed, feel so much better now!

Betti I LOVE Isla too! But it means island, as does our surname so ruled out! Also my sister's BF knew a guy he didn't like from school called Neil "out surname" and tried to put me off it last time with this story. I did go for my other choice then but not put off by such reasoning this time!

Ruthy I think Finlay is lovely too, in fact there was a baby in our local cafe called that yesterday lunchtime and he was so chilled!! Waited patiently whilst his mum had her lunch and then dutifully fell asleep at the end. What a guy!

I am also very reluctant to discuss names in RL!
