I've posted pictures of our little guy on my profile

star6 · 08/10/2008 20:44

we took baby out today and i was convinced we were at risk of the pushchair seat collapsing and falling on the concrete... think there should be a walking speed limit and no smoking anywhere. everyone in awe at 6 day old baby out and about... it was only an hour... we're not bad parents! still shaking from the worry!! need practice... felt a bit dizzy after an hour... hb still very low
I cant wait for csws' birth announcement!

Hi all - still no baby here at 11 days over! Just back from the 'overdue' clinic, and baby has been scanned and all is fine. But they were insistent that they would book me for an induction at 42 weeks (Saturday) and in the end the only appointment they had was for TOMORROW. I definitely don't want it and am confident my homebirth team will support me in waiting, but I need to talk to them first thing tomorrow before I can cancel the appointment. What a hassle.

Anyway, I'm sure it'll be ok to buy me a few more days.

Am still getting more short irregular contractions, but nothing approaching proper labour yet. Come out baby!!!

Star, he's gorgeous. You must be so proud. Don't worry about taking a 6 day old baby out and about. We had to take DS out when he was only two days old as I only had newborn clothes for him (up to 7.5lb) and he weighted 8lb 4oz so we took him clothes shopping out of necessity.

Congratulations to all the new mums.. at this rate we'll have had most of the the babies by halfway though the month.

I'm struggling to keep up with all the updates as DH is home and nagging me to rest as my tummy is very bruised. I have purple finger nail marks all over my bump.

Sending some good birthing vibes to anyone currently in labour including CSWS and anyone who is overdue and desperate to lose a bump and gain a baby...

usuallytooshytochat · 09/10/2008 02:41

So many babies star if you're still having trouble with bf, you could try calling NCT breastfeeding helpline - they saved me many times with ds1. It definately gets easier with time.
Had 41 week appt today and booked in for induction on tuesday - please baby come before that! MW said no one knows who decides when its time for birth, mother or baby. It can't be mother as I decide every night that its gonna be tonight and it never is, so it must up to the baby (I think she really meant whose hormones.)
Has anyone had success after a membrane sweep? - all its done so far is make me feel uncomfortable and unable to sleep as usual

I've got a sweep booked tomorrow with the mw too... not had one before so no idea what to expect. Guess it's only going to do anything if I'm ready to go anyway.

ajm200 · 09/10/2008 09:35

Good luck to those of you having sweeps. Hope they work quickly for you. Sending some good birthing vibes your way

snowymum · 09/10/2008 10:42

Hello! I'm so thrilled to say that Rowan Michael was born at 5pm in a perfect home water birth on Tuesday - and he's practically slept through two nights so far with just one big feed in each. No stitches and he's doing so well at breastfeeding. Photos and birth story to follow, probably next week. Haven't read the thread so congrats to all those who've had their babies and best of luck to all those in waiting - i found it the most exhilarating and rewarding experience of my life and hope you do too. xxx

Pidge · 09/10/2008 10:51

quick one from me - I am officially in labour at 4cm dilated, and contractions coming pretty fast.

thanks pistachio - for what it's worth my midwife tutted hugely over the induction nonsense and insisted on cancelling the appointment herself! Fingers crossed for some action for you too.

star6 · 09/10/2008 10:54

about to give up. engorged breasts fever headache dizzy sore nipples

perkypopsy · 09/10/2008 11:03

oooh pidge how exciting so glad you avoided inductoion - am going to cancel mine on Saturday and insist on Monday - hope hope hope I am same as you and baby comes anyway - spesh as have been reading CSWS thread and is still there waiting to go....
GOOD LUCK

pepperrabbit · 09/10/2008 11:40

star you could have mastitis? do you have red patches like sunburn on your breasts?? You will need antibiotics to clear that up and should speak to your midwife asap.
Is DH home?
Hang in there!

mum2jakeyroo · 09/10/2008 11:59

I am 39+4 weeks. Is anyones bump softish ie not rock hard. Been to playgroup and ended up in a discussion about my bump being quite soft. Everyone remembers theirs as being rock hard. They have now got me worried (paranoid emotion)
btw congrats to everyone who has had babies.
Also with regards to sweep should I be getting one at 40 weeks - in my notes it says ring for sweep at 41 weeks

rowanmac · 09/10/2008 12:16

mum2jakeyroo my bump was rock hard until last week now its all soft. MW not at all concerned yesterday, think it just means nothings imminent (boohoo)I'm 39 weeks tomorrow.

Now got hospital appt for Monday morning. Fingers crossed before then, I feel such a wuss.

ajm200 · 09/10/2008 12:30

Pidge How exciting - good luck ! Hope it all goes quickly and easily for you.

mum2jakeyroo Last week my bump was a tight little football. After baby turned, it became more of a rugby ball but had softened a bit. Today it is definately softer on the sides than before. I'm 38+1

SmudgeyDoodle · 09/10/2008 12:51

Ooh, Pidge that sounds promising. Hope it progresses well. Congrats to Snowymum (Is that the name that you wanted Star but your DH vetoed it?). Star I hope you've got some suppport for BF. Try hot or cold flannels on your boobs, have a bath and hand express some milk off and make sure you are drinking plenty of water. Look after yourself and don't be afraid to just strip you and Q off an go back to bed for nice cuddles and a bit of a feed.

mum2jakeyroo · 09/10/2008 12:51

That makes me feel better - thanks. Boohoo at not being imminent.

SmudgeyDoodle · 09/10/2008 12:55

My one big job that I still want to get done today (just swept out inside of car which I've been meaning to do for about a year!) is to write my birth plan. Due 2 weeks yesterday - in denial, moi?

hansnava · 09/10/2008 13:38

star that is mastitus i had it with my little girl. i know how uncomfortable it can be, i used to sit there crying my eyes out while feeding dd that was the reason i gave up bf with her and i regretted it ever since so please dont give up.
you can get these great pads from either mothercare or toys r us they are green gel filled pad that u can either freeze or warm up and they r a god send, they r on £12. you need to massage ur breast too while ur lo is feeding.

mum2jakeyroo my belly goes from hard to sorft it depends whether baby is back to back or back to belly i wouldnt worry.

Aubergenie · 09/10/2008 13:45

Star - You poor thing. Are you sure you've got the latch right? I thought I was doing it right but my nipples were sore and my breasts engorged. Someone else on here directed me to this website. Lots of really helpful video clips and other info. I'm feeling much more comfortable since I tried to take on board some of the advice.
