Thought we'd go with twinklytoes suggestion since she's gone and got herself admitted to hospital in a desperate bid for attention .

Have left everyone on the stats for now, but will do another cull of deserters soon....

Morning early birds CSWC & Star I had a bad nights sleep too. Didn't get to sleep until 1 am (having been awake since 5.30am the morning before) then woke at 5am but did manage another hour until about 7. Very tired today and got to trapse to hospital and sit in the waiting room for hours, wish they could get me a bed for a couple of hours rest I'm out for the next 4 evenings so am going to be shattered by Monday!

Bethoo Tell us more.... My DH just leaving for work asking you on MN already! I had to check in to see how it went for you last night

ajm How are you feeling today?

Morning everyone. Can't believe you've all been up since the wee small hours. I was awake from about 4 but used the time to listen to my hypnobabies course.

Have a low level headache and very swollen hands and feet today, fingers like sausages so typing is difficult (but I bet it makes more sense than my normal rushed efforts) and I've had to take my wedding ring off. Kind of resigned to having PE now, depending on the blood results have 4 or 5 of the symptoms so odds are against me. DH and I discussed it and if the results are bad, I'm going to ask to be induced over the weekend, if my friend can take DS.

I really wanted to go into labour naturally this time but I don't want all the hassle of daily trips to the hospital, daily blood tests, finding childcare each time and ending up induced or with a emergency C/S in a few days anyway.

Slightly that I might be holding my little one next week

I hope Bethoo had a good date - I think she's amazing to be dating in the 9th month of pregnancy.

Just seen the time.. Off to get DS ready as my friends are brilliant and have setup a babysitting rota so that he's going to be out all day today and most of tomorrow so that I can rest. He's leaving in 15 mins and is still in pjs eating toast with honey in his hair.. oops

Star, your trousers won't hurt your baby. Its normal for maternity clothes to get snug at the end. I had low rise trousers last time and they got very tight so I have the unflattering tummy huggers this time.

Blood results are in, levels slightly raised but not enough for a definate diagnosis of PE so baby gets a temporary reprieve until we repeat the process on Tuesday. Home BP monitor says BP back at more sane levels today but still up a bit for me. Phew!

Lots of rest and relaxtion and natural induction methods between now and Tuesday for me.

Sorry will stop posting now... I'm gonna push us over to new thread at this rate

ajm sounds as though you will be another holding their newborn very soon, hope everything goes well and thinking of you.

well i met him last night and was concerned he would not be that good looking but when he pulled up nad got out the car i saw that he is actually better looking in the flesh so no probs there! we had our chinese whcih was nice though slightly cold but hey i can eat cold chinese in the morning! then we chatted til half twelve nad i was knackered so went to bed >> and ended up staying up talking for another two hours about everything! yes it got heated, not the talking!!! i did not sleep well though as bad BHs and back ache. hopefully we are going to the cinema tomorrow night and he is taking me and Hayden to a petting farm on sunday. so that is pretty much it. i really would like to go on to his place in ireland as sounds lovely.
dont want to get too excited about it as i tend to jinx things when i am really interested in someone!

Well he wanted to go there whilst you are pregnant and some men are very off putting by all that, My DH does not come near me, so i think there is def more to it then getting into your knickers (my computer just left the 'y' from 'your' knickers so luckily re read it otherwise it would have said 'our' knickers!!!)
I just hope your ex does not give you any probs!
Who will be at the birth with you?

Morning all!
Have been looking at birth plan section of maternity notes. Midwife said to think about whether or not to have oxytocin injection after birth to deliver placenta and whether or not we want baby to have vit K and if so in what form? Anyone have any experience/opinions?? I know the theories behind both protocols but what (if any) are the DISadvantages??
Hope everyone is well.

Morning ladies. I was wide awake in the early hours of the morning too. Should have logged on here for some company!

AJM - I'm so glad you've got a reprieve for a few days at least. Try and relax as much as you can today to try and keep that BP down. I assume it's a weekend of hot sex, hot baths and hot food for you to try and encourage LO to come out on his/her own...?

Bethoo - You go girl! I was thinking about you last night and wondering how it was all going (as me and DP sat on the sofa drinking our ovaltine. Rock and roll!). Great that you like him, and he sounds pretty keen.

I got into a right state last night as I took the moses basket out to set it up and discovered it's gone mouldy in our cupboard under the stairs, which turns out to be really damp. It was given to me a few months ago and I'd wrapped it up and packed it away really carefully and now I've got to do a dash to Mothercare to buy a replacement. I know it's not the end of the world but I found myself getting unreasonably upset at the thought that the baby won't have anywhere to sleep if he does make an appearance. I'm 39+2 today, so put it down to the hormones...

Oh my word young lady. I have come on to see if the conversation was good and he was a gentleman to you. What do I find? Cold chinese and a man leaving the house at 7.30am!! Well I never. (I am mad jealous really)
AJM, good news your bloods are better today. Take it easy and lots of visualisation for you my girl.

I did think the higher the number the less engaged. Bugger that means I have gone from 3/5 at 36 weeks to 4/5 at 38 weeks. What is the point of all these B/H if baby is going the wrong way?
Jenwa, lucky you. I am sat here woth DD2. We have already painted three butterflies, 1 clown and cut up lots of birthday card ready for sticking! I am on my second cup of tea. I did try to get DD to go back to bed with me for the day but she told me that was really boring

Report
emkay · 25/09/2008 09:55

Hi mishkamoo... I didn't have oxytocin for DD because I had a straightforward labour with just TENS machine and gas and air and it seemed strange to then start with the injections just as baby was born! I delivered placenta naturally within half an hour and hardly noticed because I was holding DD. It also meant we could leave cord intact until it had stopped pulsating. I'd love the same experience again but I have put in my notes that if I have any interventions or baby is poorly then I want the injection to move things along and because I think there's a higher risk of problems if you have had a traumatic labour. Not 100% sure of the stats on that...

With Vit K we had injection last time and will have it again if any interventions during labour or baby poorly but otherwise we're going for oral Vit K... again not sure of stats and this decision more of a gut instinct than based on experience.

Everyone will have a different viewpoint so end of the day I'd just listen to your own gut instincts and you can change your mind at the last minute anyway!

Congrats on the date bethoo! Sounds fab

Morning ladies I was also up early 2am until 4.30 went back to bed and managed to get some more sleep. I have been having very niggly pains period like and backache it really could be early labour but know way of knowing I am hoping that something will happen soon I am certainly bloody uncomfortable.

I will check in again later.

WOW i've only been anyway for a few days and it seems loads has happened!!

BIG CONGRATULATIONS to all those who have their little ones here safe and sound

Bethoo thats fab he sounds really nice

I have midwife today and i'm hoping she will tell me the baby has moved position, i think it has as i'm getting less backache now

ronshar the head can/does engage later on in other pg's, when i had DS3 (who is DC 4) his head didn't engage until i was in labour!! i'm hoping it will be different this time though, and i have been getting lots of fanjo pressure

how long do you all have to go now? i still have 4 weeks and i'm getting very impatient

Report
ronshar · 25/09/2008 10:17

Hopefully only 12 days. But with my track record it could be another 4 weeks!
I was engaged for ages with both the girls. DD1 was head down ready to go at 30 weeks. Ironic that I was induced and the poor girl was sucked out!
I am now trying not to think about when I am going into labour. I will jinx myself.

It is a pain when you cant sleep. Do you all get grumpy?

I've never had any problems with the others but for some reason i'm starting to get paranoid about the labour this time

maybe its because this will be our last baby

Last night was the first night i've slept properly for weeks, DS3 has taken to getting up anywhere between 2 and 5 for a cuddle never done it before but since we came back from hol he's done it everynight!! he might be getting worried about the changes i suppose

Report
ronshar · 25/09/2008 10:52

Yes I know what you mean. This is going to be our last, which feels a bit funny. I am torn between wanting it over and hugging baby to me knowing I will never feel this again. Cant win really.

Maybe DS can sense his life is about to be turned upside down. Also do you find that when they wake up a few times in the night it almost becomes a habit? My DD2 goes through phases when she wakes up loads but then she doesnt wake for months! Strange!

Report
sparklesandnowinefor5weeks · 25/09/2008 10:57

yes DS3 is very much like that, i'm a meany though and don't let him stay in bed with us i just get up give him a big cuddle and put him back in his own bed

tbh i thought that would stop him getting up but it hasn't, DP said to stop giving him cuddles before putting him back to bed to see of that works but i'm not sure i want to do that because if he is worried i want to comfort him
