Thought we'd go with twinklytoes suggestion since she's gone and got herself admitted to hospital in a desperate bid for attention .

Have left everyone on the stats for now, but will do another cull of deserters soon....

Most chemists do have witch hazel but not on display. Ask the staff, it is probably hidden away in the pharmacy section.

Comfrey tea might be available from Holland and Barrett but i get mine online from goodness direct here

hansnava · 24/09/2008 10:52

sambrads i have also wrote on here about clicking when baby moves. it was really freaking me out at one point, i thought it was the baby's bones or something. i have asked both my midwives (i have two as my main one always seems to be on holiday) and my consultant and the dr i saw when i went to hospital on saturday and none of them knew what it was but they all assured me it wasnt the baby as there is water and my fat and skin surrounding it and the clicking i hear is really clear not muffled.

congrats to all who have had their babies ive still got 3 1/2 weeks left its really gonna drag isnt it?

mum2jakeyroo · 24/09/2008 10:52

How many movements is everyone getting at the min from bump. Mine has been really active but over the last couple of days hardly anything. Am so paranoid

ronshar · 24/09/2008 10:53

Brilliant some new ladies. You can join in the moaning, groaning and general madness that is October babies!

Myjob, good news that the feeding is going well. It can be hard at first to get it all working right isnt it? Glad your bottom isnt too sore.

Bethoo. I would love to have a date. But not sure about my range of conversation at the moment. Restricted to ouch this baby is pushing on my bladder again or more excitingly, wow I feel like my lady bits are going to fall out on the floor
Even DH doesnt want to go out on a date with me. It is his b'day next week and he said he would rather stay home. Maybe the threat of waters breaking in restuarant is too much for him

Star I am glad you are with us. I chuckled at your response to a few pains. I'm not being horrible it is just so refreshing to have someone still excited about it all. I am feeling a bit jaded/old!

ronshar · 24/09/2008 10:56

Mum, movements tend to decrease at the end due to a real shortage of space. I find mine are really painful. It is a bit scary seeming a bottom and limbs sticking out the side.

Have you looked in Boots for Witch Hazel. I know they do some skin care products with Witch Hazel. Brill for spots!

hedgepig · 24/09/2008 10:58

mum2jakeyroo they say a minimum of 10 movements a day but also you have to look at changes in the pattern of movement. So if the baby is say normally active in the evening and you are feeling no movements even if you put you feet up for an hour, have a cold drink and some sugar then it is best to call the hosp, they won't think you are being daft.

ronshar · 24/09/2008 11:06

Thats true Hedgepig. When I went in on Sunday it was the lack of moving they were interested in not the bleeding.
Even midwife yesterday was only really bothered about making sure still lots of movement. She said they never really know what causes bleeding and it was most likely a show!

mum2jakeyroo · 24/09/2008 11:15

Thank you. It has been so active with bits poking and moving and somersaults. They have decreased over the last few weeks due to probably not a lot of room. But since Monday I have hardly fely anything. Will try the sugar and cold drink and the lie down. Probably won't get the latter as have a 2yo and 4yo.

ronshar · 24/09/2008 11:34

If you are at all concerned then phone your midwife. She will make a decision if you need to be monitored or half an hour. Thats all it takes to get a idea of baby movements. My baby made a right tit of me. As soon as the straps went roung my belly it started having a right boogie! Midwife at the hospital laughed and said, you have got your hands full with that one!!!.
I definitely ordered a quiet calm baby this time.

sambrads · 24/09/2008 11:37

hansnava that is exactky the same as me !!!! i swea it sounds like someone is cracking there knuckles its so so plain to hear . i have not said to mw as i keep forgetting and she will probably think im daft being concerned about it tomorrow with only 5 days to go

mum2jakeyroo i too have been feeling less movement but when she does move i think she is going to bust out of me !!!!!!

im so so fed up sitting about today already my dh told me to rest as ds birthday tomorrow and we dont want any arrivals before then . think i might have to go out

we are going to take ds out tommorrow go for a nice lunch probably buy him more things he does not need it will be lovelyjust the 3 of us but it does make me sad thinking it might be our last family outting just the 3 of us
will defo be his last birthday with just his mummy and daddy {{{{{{{{{{{{cry cry cry }}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}

WheresTheAuPair · 24/09/2008 11:57

hi ladies- my turn for a moan and groan now! urgh still got this yukky cold. Ventured out to sainsburys today with DS as fed up of living on toast...was that a hard outing or what??! DS an angel but it felt like a superhuman effort from me lol.

Right my next move is online shopping me thinks... has anyone had any experience with sainsburys?

Got home and reaslised i've been walking around with a giant bogey streak up my thigh NOT one of mine!

Nice. Yummy mummy i am not today

hedgepig · 24/09/2008 12:07

mum2jakeyroo I don't want to worry you but with my last pg it was the reduced movements that indicated my baby had a problem and I had a emergency cs the same day. If i had left it a few days he would have been pretty poorly so please try the icy cold drink etc and call the m.wife to talk it through.

07mumstheword · 24/09/2008 12:49

wherestheaupair I use Sainsuburys Online. It takes a while to set up and do your shop (an hour maybe) but once it is done and you get the hang of it you can choose your usuals and it takes about 20 mins. They deliver within an hour time slot (I believe most use a 2 hr time slot) and around here delivery is free on a Tues, Weds and Thurs if you spend £100 so I do it for stocking up on bulk items like toilet rolls and heavy detergents etc. Get it set up before baby arrives I really recommend it.

I still feel like things are moving downwards but nothing more painful today.

star6 · 24/09/2008 13:01

online shopping definitely the way to go!!! Even paying for delivery charge isn't so bad when you think it's like the same amount you'd end up spending in petrol getting there and back anyway
DH likes to go to the actual shop as there are some bargains to be had at certain times of the day but I cannot be bothered.

GirlWithTheMouseyHair · 24/09/2008 13:04

hey everyone - feeling right sorry for mself, totally cream crackered today, can't beleive I have this week still at work then next week prancing around with actors and dancers in the name of research - really don't want baby to arrive early nor late, bang on time please!

shopping delivery sounds like the best invention in the world - only thing I like to choose my meat etc, do you find that you get the crap fatty bits rather than the nice chunks? (anything to make my mind off my back)

jenwa · 24/09/2008 13:05

God I ache today, walked Dd to playgroup then came home to walk to Drs and back home then back to playgroup to pick up DD, by bum is achy but I am hoping to shift baby!!! She is head down but not engaged 5/5 it says in notes. I am so inpatient as only 36 weeks, how am I going to cope next few weeks! Am just struggling with back ache and keeping on top of things. Tried a relaxing bath last night without DD in with me but this baby had other ideas and was rolling side to side and sticking arms, knees and shoulders everywhere! Its lovely to feel baby move so I should not moan but sometimes it is really uncomfy, I feel like she is going to burst out of my skin!!!

Welcome to the newbies.

bethoo Have you met this bloke before? Thats strange about him inviting you away (especially a month after you have had baby!) just wondered if you did already know him? Nice though to be invited away, I cant wait to go on a holiday!

re online shopping, I use Tescos and they are 2 hourly slots, usually turn up at beginning but have had a few late ones! May actually try sainsburys and see what thats like, especially free delivery

Did early learning shop for DD 's b'day, ordered it Fri in the shop and it came mon, bit gutted did not get free deliverly as order was over £200 (reduced with 20% voucher) but still [hmm} by the way it was not all for DD and also koint pressies from family so MIL gave me half back.

star6 · 24/09/2008 13:06

I'm vegetarian... but the produce I get is always nice and fresh

hansnava · 24/09/2008 13:10

im constantly paranoid about baby's movements. ive found mine has gone from kicking to slow but sometimes painful movements. i think its where the heads down so now it just moves from side to side. lo does seem to like sticking its foot right out though.
im constantly comparing the movements to what it was like when pg with dd.
hopefully ive just got one thats alot calmer and quieter this time

CantSleepWontSleep · 24/09/2008 13:10

If you use Tesco online then make sure that you check out the Tesco codes threads on here. Always save at least enough to cover my delivery charge. I won't use Sains online because they once phoned me 10 mins before my delivery was due to say that they would be 4 days late!!!!! No apology or offer to give me my shopping for free. Just said that they were short staffed and tough .
Waitrose deliver has the best service (diff from Ocado), but not the full range of stuff that Tesco have.

Welcome to newcomers, and phew that I don't suffer from piles - really don't like the sound of them!

OP posts:
hansnava · 24/09/2008 13:12

sambrads thats exactly how i explained it to midwife and drs, like someone clicking their fingers but a bit quieter. ur right they do look at u as if ur mad lol

ajm200 · 24/09/2008 13:12

Spent an hour in the garden playing football with DS this am. Couldn't believe how difficult it was to kick the ball. Hope it means that baby's head is at least partially engaged now. Wil find out shortly as off to the MW appt soon.

Probably shouldn't have tried to come down his slide though, got stuck. Obviously a bit broader across the hips than I care to admit. Good job the neighbours are out.

WheresTheAuPair · 24/09/2008 13:22

Hmm i think i'll give it a go then. DS likes to eat his way round sainsburys at the moment- 'nana's' are never unscathed by the time i reach the checkout. He can now reach round and pluck things out of the trolley to investigate. While I can cope with him i'm not sure how i'll fare with a baby too! If i put the carseat in the trolley it would be showered by things that DS has pulled off shelves and rails . I normally don't mind doing the shop but worried how i'll fare without being able to drive for at least a month after the c-section. (yikes- and being at food shop mercy of DH! we will have beer and pizza in house only!!)

LOL at ajm - thats the sort of thing that would happen to me! DS always makes me go on the swing next to him and am worried i'll get stuck one day

sambrads · 24/09/2008 13:53

wow ajm thats brave playing football knowing my luck i would swing my leg back to kick the ball and the babies head would come out hahaha

bought a windoo for my bebe loola pram off ebay it was ment to be here toay the latest still no sign off it i hate depending on royal mail!!!!!

bethoo · 24/09/2008 14:58

perhaps the clicking is your joints like your hips as your pelvis opens near the birth so maybe that is it1
jenwa yes i think he is rather enthusiastic, he is coming to mine and my next door neighbour knows so she will some runnign if there are any screams! he seems nice as we have been chatting on the phone alot. i think you need a passport to get to southern Ireland so chances are i will not get my passport renewed in time. i have my excuses why i cant go , he has invited me if we get on as it is his 40th birthday and he is celebrating it with his massive family1 so i will feel like a fish out of water anyway and not go.

07mumstheword · 24/09/2008 15:40

Bethoo I can't believe you have a date tonight. I don't even feel like dating my husband at the momemt I hope you have a lovely evening and get on in RL.
