Thought we'd go with twinklytoes suggestion since she's gone and got herself admitted to hospital in a desperate bid for attention .

Have left everyone on the stats for now, but will do another cull of deserters soon....

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
rach010 · 24/09/2008 16:00

hansvana i have been getting worried about movement too, midwife said as long as 10 a day then thats fine. I was comparing mine to previous pregnancy where movements seemed much bigger, think my movements not so much as baby is breech.

Back to MW tomorrow to see if baby turned, don't think it has but fingers crossed.

ajm200 · 24/09/2008 16:02

It is amazing how fast things can turn. I've just had my mw appt and it looks like I might be developing PE again. 3 points of protein in my urine, BP 140/101. They've taken bloods and depending on the results tomorrow, I'll either have another MW appt next week or be induced..

Really upset as i desperately want to avoid another induction after the 5 day failed attempt last time and really didn't want to go into hospital.

Monitoring shows I am having mild contractions about 20 mins apart, but not strong enough to be the real thing so no chance of baby coming on its own before tomorrow.

Gonna make myself a big hot chocolate now...

rosebury · 24/09/2008 16:21

So sorry to hear all that ajm200 please put your feet up and try to rest as much as you can and fingers crossed for you take care.

Welcome to the newbies sorry that you are having to hear all of our moans and groans i can assure you that we have not been like this all the way through our pgs it is just this finnal leg which is soooooooooo hard.

07mumstheword · 24/09/2008 16:25

ajm sorry you're If they do think of inducing you they may leave it a couple of days to see if your contractions get stronger on their own? Let's hope you go naturally.

bloody hell i forgot about that too! i guess if all goes well there would be other opportunities as i have always wanted to go over to southernn ireland so maybe next year
What is PE? my liver function is not as it should be and have been warned about itchy hands! is it similar?

Aubergenie · 24/09/2008 17:39

AJM - that is so disappointing. I'm so sorry. You were hoping for a home birth this time round weren't you? Fingers crossed it's a blip and your blood pressure comes down again. Is this about the time that you developed PE last time? Would they induce you tomorrow, or give you a bit longer to see if things happened on their own?

Bethoo - I am in awe that you are having a date tonight. Good for you!

I seem to have hit a wall of tiredness over the last couple of days. All I want to do is eat and sleep. Having felt absolutely fine all the way through, I suddenly understand what people have been moaning about. This pregnancy thing is hard, isn't it?!

I've had all sorts of stresses with my hospital over the last month or so and just changed to a different one this week which is a huge relief. I had high ALT levels in my bloods (which my old hospital were saying I might have to be induced for) and they have now gone completely back to normal. The new hospital are saying there's no reason I can't have a normal delivery now, so I'm really relieved.

I'm feeling like maybe I can finally relax and actually start to feel ready for the baby to arrive.

Welcome to all the new people. Sorry we're such a moany, groany bunch at the moment!!

bethoo · 24/09/2008 17:46

this thread si nearly full! that must be a record!

Aubergenie · 24/09/2008 17:48

Bethoo, my liver function wasn't good either, hence the raised ALTs. It sounds like the worry is that you could develop obstretric cholestasis which needs to be closely managed. One of the symptoms is itchy hands and feet. Although I had no symptoms apart from the blood results, I had to go in for twice weekly monitoring, bloods taken weekly and had to have a liver scan too.

I have no idea if it helped, but I tried to switch to a low fat diet and drank a lot of dandelion tea, as this is meant to cleanse the liver (it's horrible though!), and my ALT levels have dropped from 80 to 16 (the top end of normal is 35).

PE is pre eclampsia.

ajm200 · 24/09/2008 18:07

PE is pre-eclampsia. A good description is here Last time I developed it in my 36th week and it went from mild to an induction in a couple of days. It started two days after my homebirth kit arrived.

This time I'm just 36 weeks and booked my homebirth on Sat - anything homebirth related seems to be a catalyst. They were talking about inducing me early next week if the blood results are bad as the onset was so fast last time but if I get any headaches or stomach pain, or visual disturbances I've got to go straight in.

I've just had to cancel my lovely heated birthing pool as today was the last day I could without losing all the money, so I'll have to get a blow up pool or cancel entirely

star6 · 24/09/2008 18:43

So sorry ajm! I know you were looking forward to that. It stinks how quickly things can change.

jenwa · 24/09/2008 18:57

ajm rofl about you on the slide, maybe you should get on it some more to encourage that baby to come out by itself although getting stuck on the slide may not be the best way!
Fingers crossed all goes well for you though.

CSWS I have seen those tescos ones on here, but who puts the codes on? Is it people who are not using them? Was not sure if it would be rude to use them. Thanks for tip though!

rowanmac · 24/09/2008 20:47

My you lot talk a lot.
I haven't been on for days as I've been a big pile of misery nothing wrong just all the vomiting, poor sleep, groin pains and backache that everyone else has. I think I got a bit too set on this one arriving when the last one did ie yesterday and surprisingly it hasn't. I'm beginning to suspect it may be a girl, my mother refers to me as last minute.com.

I'm with jenwa I can't believe I'm to have another 3 weeks of this. The head has dropped into my pelvis though, I feel like I'm about to lay an egg.

At this rate of chat we'll have 2 more threads before end of October.

sambrads · 24/09/2008 21:05

oh ajm hope everything settles down for you and you get the labor and birth you want

is anyone watching supernanny ??? oh my god those kids are so mad !!

star6 · 24/09/2008 21:22

Oh, I thought PE meant you had to go into the hospital right away. You all must think I'm insane!! Ok then, I hope it gets better and you can still have your homebirth!

SmudgeyDoodle · 24/09/2008 21:35

Congrats to 2 new arrivals - all lovely names(I know they were a few days ago but I've only just caught up). AJM I hope that you get things moving. Maybe if you do get stuck on the slide then the baby will decide to come! Really sorry your home birth is looking less likely. We had lovely weekend away at wedding and DS at his Grandma's. I managed to last til 11.30pm which I thought was quite good. Been feeling really tired this week though and like my lady bits are really swollen. I think it's the running round after DS that isn't helping. We're also looking at houses cos we are thinking about buying - good timing eh?
Good luck to anyone with things happening. Positive vibes to babies that need turning and most importantly, Bethoo how was the date?

ronshar · 24/09/2008 21:44

AJM, that is horrid luck for you. Has the hospital given you any hints/tips to try and reduce BP? Are you able to bed rest? At least you are contracting, all is not lost. Maybe that is contributing to BP increase?? Take it easy love.

I forget, which is more engaged? 3/5 or 4/5.

Thinking of Bethoo tonight. Is she getting lukcy for all us big bellied ladies

pepperrabbit · 24/09/2008 22:01

Evening all, taken ages to catch up again! Congrats on all the babies!!

I'm still rather in denial that i'm actually going to have one v shortly, unfortunately DH is too, and we haven't built the cot or anything yet
Had a miserable week last week with a cold, woke up on Wed in tears, just cried for hours! Luckily I caught DH just as he was about to leave for work, and sobbed at him that he had to go to school as I couldn't go like this, and he worked from home.
Of course all the school mums thought I must be in labour! No idea what it was about, I did have one day AFTER DS2 was born where I cried all day, but nothing before. Pesky hormones....
Anyway slightly perkier now, loads of offers of help from friends & neighbours (one of them brought me some home made still hot cakes - how crap do you have to look to get food parcels from strangers!).
ajm sorry to hear you may have PE, at least they're keeping an eye on you.

CantSleepWontSleep · 24/09/2008 22:03

I think that 3/5 is more engaged, as they allegedly write down how much is still free, but instinctively that always sounds wrong .

jenwa - how sweet to think it rude to use the codes that people have posted specifically for others to use! They can be used many times, so you don't stop someone else from using them just because you have.

for possible PE ajm.

Hope the date is going well bethoo.

emkay · 24/09/2008 22:18

I haven't posted recently because everything seems to be fine here and I just feel so grateful reading about all the troubles with piles and blood pressure that are going round. The BH have calmed down so much now that I'm not working and I'm slowly getting used to the idea that I don't have to rush round like mad in the evenings because I will have time during the day while I'm on maternity leave - radical concept! Mostly DD has other ideas but she's at nursery tomorrow morning so that's her sorted!

I remember the hormone hit the day my milk came in pepperrabbit... wow! the tears just flowed constantly. Quite something to be normally relatively sane and find yourself taken over by mad levels of weeping! Maybe it was your body's way of telling you that you needed a bit of extra TLC. How great that you've got nice people around you ready to step in with home made cakes and the like!

I think 3/5 is more engaged too... but am I right in thinking that it's not relevant really if you've had a baby before because then you can even engage during labour? Or is it still something to look out for?

CantSleepWontSleep · 25/09/2008 04:49

I'm bored. Have been awake for 2 hours already, so going to be knackered later, and have dd all day, so that's not good! Just when I thought I was sleeping quite well lately too - typical!

OP posts:
star6 · 25/09/2008 05:41

Hey csws! Feeling great because just got out of the shower to see your message on here and knowing that I slept longer than someone else is lovely
Just kidding, I hope you are at least resting and that your DD will take a nice, looooooong nap with you today!

CantSleepWontSleep · 25/09/2008 05:45

lol - glad one of us is feeling good about my early start .
Sadly dd doesn't nap any more, so I will have to keep going until about 7:30 tonight.
We have a toddler group to go to this morning, and then probably a lll meeting, and hopefully a driveway blokey is coming round later this afternoon, or if not then I'm dragging dh to look at some of the floors that I saw the other day, so it will be a busy day, but at least that should help to keep me awake!
Actually the worst thing about being awake so early was that MN was down for its nightly update, and then was running like a dog for an hour!

OP posts:
star6 · 25/09/2008 05:48

That means you will sleep very well tonight, then!
I can't wait for bethoo to log on. I want to hear about her date

star6 · 25/09/2008 05:52

hey - my trousers are getting a bit more snug (I wear the low rise kind, can't bear the big bump panel sort... although it is a pain keeping these from dropping down at times). ANyway, can that hurt the baby's head, if trousers are a bit tighter now?
