Hello

I have just found out that I am pregnant and calculate that the baby is due on 1 May. It's a bit early for me to be getting excited but I can't help it!

Is anyone else due in May?

Crongratulations from May 07. Dd was conceived two years ago tomorrow.

I can't believe she's nearly 16 months, .

BrightSideOfLife · 29/08/2008 11:52

Morning all!

Hi scary thanks for that info on QC. It is hard as I have heard good & bad about both places.

That is good advise charlie, I have to tell my doctor my first choice this afternoon (Especially as Kingston gets full so quickly) but can arrange a tour later on. I have decided on Kingston - purely because the antenatal appointments are held at St Mary's in Roehampton which is very convenient for my husband and my work. It will be easier to change from Kingston to QC than the other way around I think.

I know exactly what you mean about wanting more 'proof' while we wait for the 12 week appointment! I think we will arrange a private scan in 2 or 3 weeks time, but yesterday I found myself looking at the PT in Boots and wondering if I should do another test...

Welcome spangle !! Congratulations on your BFP. Is the news sinking in yet? Enjoy the lack of symptoms while they last - just wait until the nausea hits

Hi inni and don't you worry about posting too much - I know what you mean about enjoying the 'virtual' company of others in the same position, especially during this early stage where very few RL people know.

Your healthcare system sounds impressive - have you managed to arrange your first appointment yet? Great news that the metallic taste has gone. I read somewhere that it is to do with the embryo's rapid absorbtion of Zinc from your body and it can be combated by eating zinc rich food. I am not sure how true that is, but I thought it was interesting.

Hello to anyone I may have missed. I hope everyone is well - any plans for the weekend?

Congratulations DisplacementActivity!!

The whole pregnancy, childbirth, motherhood thing can't be that bad if you are going for it again so soon - this gives me hope!

I have been really thirsty for the last couple of days so I guess this is another symptom to add to my small collection

Well done and fab news to Displacement Activity and SpangleMaker and great to have you join us. The more the merrier

I've been the same with being really thirsty, certainly more than usual anyway. Although I feel like I've lost my appetite- particularly in the morning, which isn't like me at all. I know with both my boys I was like a woman possessed looking for any food I could lay my hands on!

SpangleMaker I've not heard of these new pregnancy tests before, but I'm very intrigued. Do they predict your due date? Sounds so clever to tell you how far along you are. Tell me, did it seem accurate with your dates? I'm a big saddo as I've done 4 tests!! First one I didn't believe (as I took it 2days early), 2nd one was to double check and then 3rd and 4th were few days later before I went to Dr's just to make sure I had reason to go!

charlie1000 · 29/08/2008 14:20

Also, when did everyone's sickness kick in? I haven't had any yet but had dreadful nausea with both boys but can't remember when it started. Hoping I might miss it this time...

inni · 29/08/2008 14:23

Congratulations displacement, you were fast eh? Welcome to our thread that has become a nice place to be and share.
Displace and Spangle you should add yourself to the list of member in this thread so everyone get to know everyone.
Hey BSOL It's not that health care is impressive here but I can't complain on the related to pregnancy. Although in both of my pregnancies I tried to give birth in the best hospital around and with the first they told me that just have at the moment 4 labor room cos they were painting the other 4 so it was just for emergencies (which wasn't my case) and the second time they said that for August (when I was due) would be all overfull. So this was really disappointing and still my DH wants me to try this time around just in case we get lucky. I'll what to do.

SpangleMaker · 29/08/2008 14:37

charlie1000 Mumsnet/Clearblue were giving away the new digi tests as a trial, I signed up and got one through the post. I think they are in the shops from October. They are similar to the normal CBDigis but they also have a 'conception indicator' that shows how long it is since you conceived - 1 to 2 weeks, 2 to 3 weeks and 3+ weeks. It doesn't give the day but I know my dates as I've been obsessively tracking my cycles for many months now! In my case it was accurate, I tried it on 4+4 and it said 2 to 3 weeks. I think they would be useful for people who had irregular cycles or an accident, but I can't say I would have bought it myself as I know exactly when I conceived!

You're not a saddo for doing several tests, I would have done myself if I had any in the house, in fact I'm thinking of getting some more next opportunity just to double check

SpangleMaker · 29/08/2008 14:41

Wow evergrounded that's amazing news - Congratulations!! you must be over the moon to put it mildly!

Hello again SlippersandPipe!

I've had ever so slight waves of nausea but I'm not sure if I'm imagining them since my appetite hasn't diminished in the slightest.

Have a great weekend everyone

Momino · 29/08/2008 20:40

Hi all, welcome and congratulations to all the newcomers! I say 'newcomers' and I only just joined a few days ago...

was out all day for DD2s first birthday and had a wonderful time, this age is so much fun. can't believe it was only one year ago i was in hospital with a newborn, scared, etc. and now i'm so in love with this little pumpkin, it does make me feel excited for the next even though i'm nervous and overwhelmed.

how are all you feeling? thirsty by the looks of the posts. Congrats to all of us on making it through this week.

aquababe · 29/08/2008 20:57

Can I tentatively join you.
I`m due on may 1st. wow theres a lot of us.
I'm abit nervous as have had two mcs and have been trying for 15 months so I've got everything crossed that I'll be sticking around.

I'm quite surprised at how many symptoms I've got(though obviously grateful too) really thirsty, sore 'filling' boobs, extreme sense of smell, feeling sick and probably more I won't have realised is a symptom till someone else mentions it.

Congratulations to aquababe, evergrounded and slippersandpipe, really pleased to hear your fab news, and nice to have you back jaamy hope you had a lovely time in Paris.

Does anyone know if it's true or just an old wives tale that after having two children of the same sex, you have 75% chance of having the same again? I've heard this from a few people but wondered how much truth there is in it.

I would love to have a little girl as this will most likely be my last baby (took me long enough to talk DH into it!) and as much as I absolutely adore my boys, it would just be the icing on the cake to have a daughter as well. I've heard lots of different theories about conceiving either boy/girl to do with timing and diet etc, but I never got so far as to put this into practice!

MrsHappy · 29/08/2008 21:47

Congratulations and a massive welcome to Spanglemaker, Slippersandpipe, Aquababe, Displacementactivity and evergrounded. Have I missed anyone?

I was Scaryhairy and have namechanged because, well, I fancied it. And I am neither scary nor particularly hairy but I am (mostly) pretty happy.

Evergrounded that's really amazing that your BFP has arrived after 18 months so especially congratulations to you. I was on one of the ttc threads for quite a while and some of the ladies there have been trying for a pretty long time. Stories like yours (and 1wish's thread the other day - did you see that? Amazing!) remind everyone that it can and does happen even after a fairly long while.

BSOL I think you're right to think that it will be easier to change from Kingston to QC than the other way around. I know people go on about QC getting booked up early, but I moved there from C&W at about 15 weeks with my daughter and there was no problem at all.

Spanglemaker I think those new CBD tests could be a bit of a nightmare. I did one to get my BFP and it said "pregnant 1-2 weeks". Fair enough. I did another one at 3 weeks from ovulation and it said "pregnant 2-3 weeks" which had me thinking "should it have said "pregnant 3+ weeks"?" It's not good for the old paranoia. I am fighting the urge to go buy another and check everything is progressing ok...

Does anyone have any more symptoms? I am drinking a lot of ginger beer which I normally hate!!

I've updated the list a little:

MrsHappy due on 1 May (DD age 2.2)
JustgotBFP due on 1 May
Sahbear due on 1 May (DS age 14 mo)
Brightsideoflife due on 1 May
SlippersAndPipe due 1 May (DD age 19 months)
Aquababe due on 1 May (DD age 2.9)
Evergrounded due on 1 May
Heverhoney due on 2 May
Jaamy due on 2 May (DD age 4.7 and DD age 2.11)
Inni due on 4 May (DS age 2.9 and DD age 1)
SpangleMaker due on 4 May (first child)
Momino due ? (DD age 2.5 and DD age 1)
Charlie1000 due on 5 May (DS age 5 and DS age 3)
Chicadee due on 5 May (DD age 6.5)
DisplacementActivity due on 9 May (DD age 9m)

I hope you're all having a good evening. My DH has finally noticed how tired I am (maybe it was the way I tried to burrow into my pillow this morning!) and has promised me a lie-in tomorrow. Bliss!
