Hello

I have just found out that I am pregnant and calculate that the baby is due on 1 May. It's a bit early for me to be getting excited but I can't help it!

Is anyone else due in May?

Galaxy for me but am sure tha is just an excuse! Don't think I can be craving at this stage - was creme eggs last time and am determined not to give in this time as only just lost my baby weight...;)

llareggub · 30/08/2008 23:07

detsy, I've just peaked at your profile. We have our jobs in common as well as our May babies! I'm a change specialist in HR.

justgotbfp · 31/08/2008 02:01

welcome to new additions, the group seems to be growing rapidly.
It is amazing how each day seems to be so long in pregnancy, I am anxious to get to the 13/14 week mark so I am past the miscarriages of my past but it seems so long away.
Who was it with a cold? what are you taking now, I have a vile one just come on yesterday and am desperate for relief but only taking hot lemon and honey at the moment.
We just heard yesterday there was a round of redundencies at dh's job he luckily wasn't one of them this time but there is rumour of another round to come which would just be terrible timing all round. All in all pretty stressed in this house and poor ds doesn't know any of the reasons why!
With those with older children when did you/will you tell your children about the new baby??

inni · 31/08/2008 06:51

Morning girls. I haven't check in one day and found many new pregnant. Congratulations to you all. To short a bit the story, for those who are new, I had a BFP on Su 24th but the line was a bit faint. I did another one two days later and the same again. So I had been scared for a week thinking that it wasn't going to be this time. So I had a test done yesterday and within 30 sec I got two wonderful dark lines. From this moment I have started to enjoy this pregnancy, and although I need to make sure with the Dr appointment everything looks better now.
I didn't want to tell my family yet but we were all day yesterday with my in laws and cos I'm showing a three month pregnant belly I couldn't keep the news. I'll be telling my family today (by video conference, as they live in Spain). I know it's too soon to be telling but as I said I can't hide this belly any longer. Happened the same in my other two pregnancies.

inni · 31/08/2008 07:14

I've gotten really thirsty too (I don't remember if happened in previous preg) and keeps me waking up to have a drink. Starting to go to pee a lot, like every 45 min. Boobs still without change. And metallic taste after two days gone came back yesterday.

SesHasapinkline · 31/08/2008 09:17

Morning all!
I've done my CB digital test and it gives me a BFP! (Just look at the photo on my profile!)
Fertility Friend thinks I ovulated on 20th but I think it was 18th and my temps were mucked up as I had a cold. If FF is right, I'm 4 weeks on Wednesday but if I'm right, I'm 4 weeks tomorrow. I think my theory would tie in better with getting a BFP on a CB digital today too. Anyone got any thoughts on the matter??!(I know it's only a couple of days!)
The last 2 nights I've woken up at about 4.30am and found it really difficult to get back to sleep. Not sure if it's excitement or hormones!

inni - when to tell is a really difficult one, especially if you're family are outside of the country. I think the time is right whenever you feel it's right. Bet they're all really pleased!

missEdith · 31/08/2008 09:40

good morning ladies

mrsHappy thanks that is ok and very kind

inni I am very pleased for you, we talked on the other thread (over 35)

jgBPF I hope things are ok with work, my dh works as a contractor and this one runs out in October, it is usually fine but one can't help worrying
as for telling older children we have bee talking for sometime about having another baby which in the abstract she is really keen on but if all goes well I will only tell her past 20 weeks, she may notice the belly but I will not go into it before them

I hope everyone is well today

justgotbfp · 31/08/2008 10:23

thanks missE. I was thinking that we will tell ds about the 14 week mark as that is when we would tell other people but I do feel as though I am being all secretive, making dr appointments around him etc which feels awful (doesn't help that he has two close friends with heavily pregnant mum's and talks about having a baby all the time though it is usually him that is having the baby) BTW am over 35 too. Fingers crossed for both your dh and mine.

missEdith · 31/08/2008 10:25

my dd is 3 and the same a lot of our friends just had babies or are pregnant and like I said before she is frequently pregnant with an assortment of fluffy toys, dolls and even Thomas the tank engine

inni · 31/08/2008 10:30

Hey missEdith. Have you change your nickname. Which thread do we know from? When I got pg with my DD I told my DS that we were expenting, he was just 13m but we kept telling him time to time. Know with this pg we have told him and he is happy about although I don't think kids really understand what's going on or better what's going to happen when their sibling arrives home. I guess there is not better or worse time to tell your kids about it, but you should start preparing them for the have to share with the little one.
Anyone having brown discharges? (sorry tmi), I know this can be normal in many women and I had some period like during first weeks in my second pg and everything turned out ok. But still worries me a lot.

Jennster · 31/08/2008 11:15

Hello there. BFP here. Suspect I'm due around 10th May but no idea as had one period in 3y4m. DD is 2y7m, DS is 13m.

missEdith · 31/08/2008 11:26

SpangleMaker · 31/08/2008 12:34

Congratulations aquababe Seshasapinkline missEdith llareggub gibsongirl and detsy

Good luck frazzledoldbag

Phew! those maternity wards are going to be busy in May

Had my first wave of queasiness yesterday which I had mixed feelings about - pleased about having a symptom that makes it more real but worried about how I'll cope at work if it gets really bad. It wore off pretty quickly so I will have to see how it goes.

frazzledoldbag34 · 31/08/2008 13:26

Thanks Spangle.
Haven't tested yet, am making myself wait as long as I can but will probably cave in tomorrow....
Am now feeling quite tired, fell asleep yesterday afternoon which I wouldn't normally have done and the smell of DD2's baby wipes in the car yesterday made me feel a bit queasy, so I am still hoping.........
Congrats to all the latest BFP's hope you're all feeling well today.

DarrellRivers · 31/08/2008 13:52

hell everyone, i don't quite want to join the thread as although EDd 5/5/09, am getting brown discharge for last 2 days and am worried this means everything is going to go pearshaped
I have had 2 normal pregnancies with no bleeding, and one cp last year, with bleeding and cramps then heavy bleeding in quick succession
i see inni you are getting some brownish d/c, are you still getting some?
And tell me positive stories of your previous early pregnancy bleeding
hi spangles, slippers and missedith

Jaamy · 31/08/2008 13:58

Hi Darrell. I have a very good friend who had some quite heavy sporadic bleeding through first 16 weeks of 2nd pg. Had no such thing during first pg. Happened about 6 times and went in for 3 or 4 scans. All was well. She is due mid Nov and everything fine so far. Can you call your epu and ask for a scan just to put your mind at rest?

Frazzled - good luck for tomorrow.

The hints paid off (well, not so much hints as just not getting up) and I got a lie in this am until...11.30!!!!! . Getting a bit worried now as bloatiness seems to have subsided. Roll on 12 weeks and those first wonderful scans!

Welcome Jeenster!
Hello Darrell - nice to "see" you again! I have heard of quite a few people who have had early spotting/brown discharge so try not to worry. I agree, there's no harm in contacting your EPU. Fingers crossed for you!

BrightSideOfLife · 31/08/2008 17:49

Hello all!

Gosh...I missed one day and sooo many new members!

Welcome & congratulations to: displacement , slippers , evergounded , aquababe , ses , edith , Ilargubb , detsy , jennster , gibsongirl , Darrel and if I have missed someone - sorry!

detsy and Ilargubb I am also an HR person - work in Training & Development...

frazzle sorry I don't know anything aboutthe Mirena coil - I had anormal copper coil and conceived 3 months after it was removed. Have you done your test yet? Good luck

darrel I had about 5 days of spotting at the beginning of this pregnancy - about a week before my period was due. It started off as red and then faded to brown before stopping. The doctor didn't seem to think it was a problem - she said it was just implantation bleeding. Having also had a previous miscarriage, it was pretty terrifying to think that the pregnancy might be ending before it began - but fingers crossed all is also OK for you. As you probably have heard - unless it is bright red, very heavy or there is pain, the doctors don't seem worried.

hope everyone is having a good weekend. It has been raining all day here (perfect excuse to lie on the couch & watch TV all day )

llareggub · 31/08/2008 18:23

Hi all

Is anyone else absolutely shattered? I've had naps today and yesterday and a lovely lie-in this morning.

I'm having some groin pain on the right-hand side. Well, I say groin but it is more in the buttocks area! Some websites suggest it might be ligaments stretching, so I'm hoping its that. I must say I look very bloated already.

SesHasapinkline · 31/08/2008 18:39

BSOL - hello!!

llareggub - I seem to have been the complete opposite today. Don't know what's come over me! Went to supermarket, then came home and defrosted the freezer and cleaned it out! Now mopping the kitchen floor and cooking curry for tea! I'll probably sleep well tonight!

I had some awful cramping pains earlier and rushed to the loo all concerned but no sign of any problem and it's calmed down now so probably implantation I guess.

As of tomorrow I'm going to stop doing hpts every day! (Have done for the last 3 days!) Will probably do another one mid week just to make sure and then phone GP if all ok.

I'm hoping I don't start to put any weight on/get bloated until after next weekend as DH and I are going to a charity black and white ball and I have a new dress that only just fits!

Anyway, that's all me, me, me! How's everyone else doing this evening?

SpangleMaker · 31/08/2008 20:14

I've been a little weary today but more physically than sleepily IYSWIM. In fact when I think about it I haven't slept too well, been falling asleep ok then waking up really early and unable to go back to sleep. Probably the excitement!

Interesting to hear several people have been really thirsty, I never knew that was a symptom!

Jennster · 31/08/2008 20:16

Thanks folks, MissEdith I used one of those tests. It said 1-2 weeks which is what I figured. My first period in years though and don't think I ovulated 'til about day 21 so Dr's initial dates would be a week earlier. Those stick things are still arbitrary any way. Have heard of a twin pregnancy that didn't give a positive test until nearly 8 weeks.

Ha wonder how many twins there will be on the thread....Am I making anybody nervous?

charlie1000 · 31/08/2008 20:17

Hi Everyone and gee look at all the newbies... CONGRATULATIONS to all of you!

Apart from sore, swollen boobs, I seem to be getting off quite lightly on the symptoms front but I have noticed yesterday and today I've been a bit hormonal and narky for no particular reason (poor DH, only another 8 months to go!) but energy levels haven't been too bad so far and I remember feeling absolutely shattered with previous pgs but perhaps I've just got used to being in a permanent zombie state, having two little ones to run around after! Can't believe summer hols are over already, DS1 goes back to school on Tues and I'm having to work full time (including Sat and Sun- GRRRRR ) for the nxt 2 weeks which I don't think is helping my state of mind!

Anyway enough moaning, I need to clear my head and have a positive outlook as it's no good getting stressed and so self-absorbed. Sorry for the rant!

Hope everyone's feeling good today

SpangleMaker · 31/08/2008 20:19

Yes!!!

our house is v small (in fact so am I!)

llareggub · 31/08/2008 20:52

Yes, I am also very thirsty. In fact, last night I had a dream that I was stuck in a cult and they were brainwashing me by restricting my fluid intake.

So not only am I thirsty, I have vivid dreams too. Two pregnancy symptoms in one!
