Hello

I have just found out that I am pregnant and calculate that the baby is due on 1 May. It's a bit early for me to be getting excited but I can't help it!

Is anyone else due in May?

Mrs Monkey - the only syptom I have is tiredness and lethargy. First pregnancy was like this, too. Try not to worry.

Jools1 · 26/09/2008 09:37

Hmmm - I think pregnancy brain has well and truly kicked in !!

Last night, I tried to tell my DP the same thing 3 times ! This morning, I fed my cats the wrong food, spent ages making myself late hunting for a skirt in the wardrobe that was in plain view, then was sat at my desk and couldn't work out why I couldn't log on - durrr - connecting network cable to laptop might help !!!

SpangleMaker · 26/09/2008 12:02

Morning all

runningmonkey thanks for the advice and recommendation, DH may very well find that book in his Christmas stocking!

MrsMonkey welcome to the thread & congratulations!

Just back from my scan at the EPAU. Good news, all is well Saw little bean with heartbeat, 2 arms but only one leg on the picture there's time for another to grow I suppose! They measured bean at 9 weeks exactly and put my EDD at 1 May, but I'm going with 3rd as I am sure that's more accurate (unless it was an immaculate conception, which somehow I doubt).

They think the bleeding must be my cervix as they couldn't see anything untoward internally. Massively relieved

Another thing that made me smile this morning - nurse asked why I was planning on a nuchal scan, turns out she didn't think I was old enough to be worried (I'm 37!)

SpangleMaker · 26/09/2008 12:06

BTW ladies, this thread is going to be full very soon. Any ideas for a name for the next thread? My pregnancy-addled brain can't think of anything witty.

CoteDAzur · 26/09/2008 12:11

Another difference in antenatal care, then: Here in France, everybody has nuchal scan, because looking at the thickness of the neck is part of the 12 week scan which is paid for by the state. It's even kind of compulsory (although I'm not sure if this is just in Monaco) - when you get a paper from gynecologist saying you are pregnant and send it to Securite Sociale, they send back a booklet with detachable pages, one for each scan/test etc you need to do during the pregnancy. All paid for by SS.

CoteDAzur · 26/09/2008 12:12

spangle - something about tiredness and sickness would be fine

GreenFingeredMummy · 26/09/2008 12:18

Morning all, sending a big hug to minimenace. I think we all share some of your feelings at some point. Its can be hard to get your family to understand how you feel, esp if not totally ready for a baby. I know Im still in shock and havent come to terms with how Im going to manage. Just getting it off your chests helps and a big hug and chocolate!

Thats great news Spanglemaker, glad to hear everything is ok. Im so jealous of those having scans already, I cant even see my midwife till the 15th Oct, hate all this waiting.

Oh and a big hello to Mrs Monkey, seems May is going to be a very popular month...

divedaisy · 26/09/2008 13:32

Good mornign Ladies
Spangle I think the title of the next thread should be just what you said 'pregnancy-addled brain can't think of anything witty!!'
As for me BLEUUUGHHHH! I am so fed up feeling nauseous! I know it's a great sign everything's going well, but I feel so so rotten. I have a horrid taste in my mouth that just won't go away - chewing gum makes me feel ill too! UCK! I'm so hungry all the time and hubby is always on my back about not having to eat all the time - what does he know? I'm drowning in ginger tea, juices, biccies etc and even have on the ms/travel sickness wrist bands - nothing is helping.

Any way...

Will catch up later on tonight (if I'm not away to bed early - DH 'Oh your not tired again are you...' Smack that man!!!)

OK - feeling awful but loving it!!!! xx

CoteDAzur · 26/09/2008 13:40

Great title for new thread

I'm so tired that I feel like a mop. A towel. An amoeba.

Yet I have to leave soon to take DD (3) to her swimming class. Why oh why did I have to go wild & write her up for all these afternoon activities?

CoteDAzur · 26/09/2008 13:42

Meanwhile, feeling quite proud that I ate only fish, some asparagus, and green vegetable soup of my own making for lunch. Feeling full, too.

I can't put on too much weight like last time. It was hell.

frazzledoldbag34 · 26/09/2008 14:05

Hi all
minimenace - big hugs x
spangle - congrats on the scan - that's fab!

Just a quickie to say I've just ordered a thing off e-bay that's meant to stop morning sicknesss. Found out about it from another m/s thread on here, a lady had one and swears by it apparently completely stopped her nausea. It's called I-trans and is like an electrical massaging version of the normal ms bands you get. On the proper website for it it retails at about £75 (!) but I've just paid £25.50 for one brand new on ebay.
So, will let you know how I get on with it when it arrives. It just looks like a big chunky watch type thing.
I really need something to relieve this nausea before I end up the size of a HOUSE! Am having to eat and eat and eat at the mo as it's the only way I can get through the day without having to lie on the floor in a cold sweat, crying. And this really can't continue..........have just lost lots of weight and am a size 8/10 for the first time in about 7 years. Am already feeling Huge and it's not funny .
Boo. Why can't I be one of those elegant, slim pregnant ladies?
Ok, sorry everyone, enough moaning. Am actually delighted to be pg. Am so lucky

frazzledoldbag34 · 26/09/2008 14:06

cote - well done, your lunch sounds lovely. Yum.

MrsMonkey · 26/09/2008 14:18

Hi all, and thanks for the great welcome!

Not a good day today as had some very, very minor spotting, and it was brown thankfully not red, but just seeing it made me realise how much I really want this tiny bean to stick. Trying to relax this evening as I have been rushing about far too much the last few days.

minimenace - sorry to hear that you are so down. I'm a long way from home too, and it can be so hard sometimes. Stay strong and I hope things start looking up for you soon.

Hi ClaudiaSchiffer - we thought we were done too, but kept talking and talking about number 3 and suddenly realised that we would love to try for another. My family are all two's so I think they are going to think we have gone a bit bonkers (probably right). What will your age gaps be?

Big sympathy for all those with bad MS. My friend had great results with acupuncture. I used to find that pressure bands helped, and sucking ice pops!

Still no symptoms yet - hard not to worry. Spotting is so scary too, although I did exactly the same thing with my DD and she turned out just fine (if you can call a feral 4 year old fine ).

SpangleMaker · 26/09/2008 14:25

new thread here - hope you like it!

Hope the link works too.

pulapula · 26/09/2008 14:34

Hi, I have hardly any symptoms apart from being VERY hormonal at the moment, especially anything to do with poorly children etc. Was on the train the other day reading my "take a break" and my eyes starting welling up,.

Jools1 · 28/09/2008 15:15

I've having a wierd day of mood swings

Was fine at the gym this morning > ! Got home and ended up laughing hysterically - literally uncontrollable laughter, sore tum from laughing, tears rolling down my cheeks laughter at some of the things my cats were getting up to.

Then DP decided to rewrite his CV - he is a technophobe and gets really angry when IT stuff won't do what he wants - I was trying to help but he started ranting, so I responded with a violently hormonal shrieking angry rant, then burst into tears and couldn't stop for well over an hour

Poor DP was angry at me for reacting when he is the one "suffering" for having to do battle with his CV and really didn't get it when I tried to tell him - its just my fcuking hormones

carol7 · 01/10/2008 17:46

Hi everyone Gaviscon has worked really well for my morning sickness i feel much better just a bit sick on and off during the day Take care Carol 7

FKelly · 11/10/2008 21:20

Thanks to frazzledoldbag34 for telling me about this group.

I'm about 9wk pg with #2 and feeling huge already! Just about coping with the all day nausea some days are better than others...

I'm wearing the travels sickness wristbands all the time... even to bed! They seem to make the difference between feeling like I'm imminently going to hurl and feeling just queasy... If only they didn't make me look like some 80's fame dancing drop out... All I need are the leg warmers and the headband to complete the look

No official due date set yet but it'll be sometime in may 09!

SEBANDELLIOTTSMUM · 12/10/2008 20:36
