Hello

I have just found out that I am pregnant and calculate that the baby is due on 1 May. It's a bit early for me to be getting excited but I can't help it!

Is anyone else due in May?

In a way, I wish I was more tired. I'm getting by on under 6 hours a night. You'd think my body would need more sleep when housing another, but apparently not.

CoteDAzur · 25/09/2008 14:59

I also keep waking up very early in the morning which is very un-Cote. Then in the day, I am so sleepy I can barely keep my eyes open.

Dandelioness · 25/09/2008 15:04

Having just said that, I just got up from sitting on my arse and felt a real wave of tiredness. Could do with an afternoon nap.

flippineck · 25/09/2008 15:14

Hello again all - I've come back to loads!

Sorry to those of you going through losses, my heart goes out to you all. I know how you feel - I've had one missed mc and one early mc.

Congratulations to everyone who's joined us while I've been away.

And here? Well, I was right that the sickness would start on holiday - the day after we arrived. I feel incredibly sick, and ravenous. When I can eat I'm eating for 6, but mostly I can't eat. This is way worse than when I was pregnant with DD.

Jools1 · 25/09/2008 15:28

Does anyone else find they are starving hungry but get full very very quickly ?

CoteDAzur · 25/09/2008 15:52

I just ate some grapes and feel a bit more perky

bluebell82 · 25/09/2008 15:58

urgh I feel so very terrible. I have thown up for most of the day poor dd1 keeps looking at me stangely as I have burst a blood vessel in my eye!

Problem is my bladder control is not what it used to be and every time i am sick I wet myself

I don't think I can take another 6- 7 weeks of this it's killing me!!!!!!

Mustn't moan though means the bean is growing nicely!

Febes · 25/09/2008 16:14

Hi all I haven't posted for a few days and I had fallen off the threads I'm on so thought it was about time I posted again.
I'm still feeling good but so tired now. DD is feeding twice in the night which is slowly killing me. but other than that feeling good and no real MS yet. 8 weeks now!!

Dandelioness · 25/09/2008 16:17

Ugh, poor you bluebell82.

I'm crossing fingers I don't get MS again. Last time it was terrible - not so much throwing up but just nausea from dawn to dusk every day until week 16. This time - so far, so good ...

HalfMumHalfBiscuit · 25/09/2008 17:52

Hi everyone. Thanks for your lovely messages and birthday wishes. Having spent most of the day waiting around in hospital today we are postponing my birthday to tomorrow and DH is taking me shopping (him on crutches = more time for browsing).

My GP was great. He phoned the gyny unit this morning and got me in there. Bleeding has continued through the night and as I am only 5+6 my GP said it was unlikely I am still pg.

We arrived at the hospital at 11.30 and didn't get seen until 1pm. V. busy. Had examination by SHO... won't go in to details.... but I've got a backward facing womb apparently. Left hospital around 3pm and had huge hot chocolate and strawberry cake with DH in nearby cafe - although it did make me feel really sick!

They couldn't tell me much and said there wasn't much point in doing a scan as nothing would show up so did a blood test to check for HGC (or whatever it is). So we will give them a call in a bit and if levels are high enough I'll go in for a scan if not then I think that is it.

I am going to tell my mum today although may get her to make herself a G and T first. Come to think of it....I might have one myself after the day we have had.

Thank you all so much for all your messages. Best of luck to all of you. DH thinks that mumsnet is just brilliant and you've all been such a life line in such a wierd time for both of us.

I hope I do come back to this link but may end up on another Due thread. Love to you all. xxxx

runningmonkey · 25/09/2008 18:56

HMHB - fingers crossed for you.

As well as feeling really sick today, my boobs are sooo painful - any tips for covering up super pointy nipples? I work in a secondary school and am a bit worried about comments from the kids - they are very obvious!!

Dandelioness · 25/09/2008 19:19

HMHB -

What a rough day, although I'm glad you're getting such good support from your GP and of course your DH.

I really hope you're able to stay on this thread, too. Wishing you the best, and I'll check back later to see if you've posted after getting blood test results. D x

SpangleMaker · 25/09/2008 19:42

HMHB sorry you've had such an awful day, and on your birthday (sounds like a plan re the shopping though!). I really hope you get some good news. Fingers crossed for you x

Am having a dilemma re food. I am feeling queasy whenever I'm hungry, and as a result can't motivate myself to think up meals let alone cook them. Am alright eating once I get started, and generally feel better afterwards. DH can't cook (hmm, must fix that) so we have been relying on bung-in-the-oven things and last night had a takeaway. I can't keep going like this though, will end up totally lardy and unhealthy, just when I need all the vitamins I can get. Going to the local pub for a meal tonight & will try my best to choose something vaguely virtuous!

runningmonkey · 25/09/2008 19:57

spanglemaker - you could try getting your DH this book

I bought it for mine when we first got together (he couldn't even boil and egg) and he has become a better cook than me!

Otherwise, when you're feeling ok can you make some big meals up and then keep them in portions in the fridge/freezer until you feel ready to eat? I did this on Sunday when I was feeling ok and it has helped this week particulalry as I've been really busy at work too.

Also - I got some lemon and ginger tea from tesco which is really nice and seems to be helping with the nausea a bit.

GreenFingeredMummy · 25/09/2008 20:22

Just thought would say hi, didnt realise there were that many mums to be, taken me ages to read all the posts since I was last on.
I have to sympathise with Jools1 Im so hungry all the time, but I know after a few mouthfulls Im not going to want anymore, so damn annoying, even choccy doesnt do it! But I have to say I dont feel half as bad as first time round. Not much nausea, maybe because Im at home instead of working in a very smelly council office which made me feel ill even before I took my coat off. Does anyone else keep thinking they should do another test just to make sure (are two postives enough?) Boobs are only just getting bigger which isnt a bad thing, and stomach still pretty much the same, although nothing at all like pre-baby number 1!!!!
Only problem is thought of a second baby, when I haven't got used to having the first... oh dear!!

MissyK · 25/09/2008 20:37

Hi all..

Just feeling a bit down at the moment
I was diagnosed with Carpal Tunnel by my gp today & feeling a bit sorry for myself, I know there are worse things, but mix my morning sickness & now this and May is feeling like a billion years away right now

has anyone else had experience of this and/or know of anything that helped to ease it? (I have already been given splints by the physio.

daizydoo · 25/09/2008 21:04

Hi Missy K, I can sympathise with you. I had Carpel Tunnel during the later half of my last pregnancy and my hands seemed to be numb most of the time. The splints did help. I saw a consultant and he would have operated (to relieve the pressure) but I'd seen him too late in the pregnancy, so I wouldn't have recovered properly by the time DS was born. Hope you get some relief...

bekkaboo · 25/09/2008 21:11

Hi god what a day, DS got chickenpox, we thought it was a reaction to his new medication so sat in drs waitng room for ages to be told chickenpox so relieved in a way! Poor little mite. Can sympathise MISSYK I had it in last pregnancy from 12 weeks til DS was 2 months old, I couldn' get out of bed, pick Ds up easily, drive or anything without agony.

Off I go bak up to DS, can see no sleep tonight, happy days!

CoteDAzur · 25/09/2008 21:14

Missy - I had carpal tunnel syndrome when pregnant with DD, but that was in the last trimester when I was all swollen up. I didn't know you could get it so early.

Huge sympathies. Splints do help, though, and nothing else really does.

MissyK · 25/09/2008 21:23

Hey, thanks for your support.
My GP says it's pretty rare to happen so early in pregnancy, esecially as I am only small to start with (I don't know what differnce that makes)...
I was told that with it starting now there's a chance it may continue getting worse & end up requiring an op but I am hoping not, after all I have my ds (3) to look after, so for now I guess it's just me & my splints!

minimenace · 25/09/2008 22:30

Hi all, It's late over there but at the moment I am far far away from home. Major hormone kick in and I really need support. Tears are pouring down my cheeks as I type and I don't know where to turn. nothing major has happened but I feel so crap and I feel like everyone close to me is against me. I'm staying with my sister at the moment, my husband is with me and I feel like they are both ganging up on me. Sounds pathetic I know but I hate the way they are making me feel.
For the last 3 days I have been throwing up and just feeling sick the whole time.

Anyway just needed to vent and feel better - so thanks for being there guys. I just wanna come home

ClaudiaSchiffer · 26/09/2008 00:09

Oh minimenace, what's up? Where are you? Why do you feel everyone is against you? Do you think you are a teeny weeny bit hormonal luv or is there more to it?

Dandelioness · 26/09/2008 00:19

minimenace, I'm sending you a virtual hug. Was also just going to ask the questions ClaudiaSchiffer asked.

If it makes you feel any better (probably not), I have been feeling a bit like that too. What's worse is when you feel like you may be beinga bit irrational, but you can't judge to what extent and just end up feeling frustrated and worse about yourself. The throwing up won't be doing you any favours. Just ride it out if you can and then, once you're feeling a bit more physically healthy and have had some sleep, you can reavaluate whether your DH and sister have been ganging up on you. Or you could tell us about it and let us judge!

MrsMonkey · 26/09/2008 01:36

Hi all, Can I join please! Have been watching the thread for a while but still a bit in denial about this pregnancy! No real symptoms as yet which is scaring me a bit.

I am due 23rd May - have a DD 4 and a DS 2.5 so this will be number 3 for us! Hoping that the bean sticks. Had bad MS with my first and quite bad with number 2 so am expecting it to kick in with this one soon.

ClaudiaSchiffer · 26/09/2008 03:42

Welcome aboard Mrs Monkey and congratulations. It's number 3 for me too which is so wierd for me as No 1 was IVF after 4 years of trying, no. 2 a total suprise and now no. 3 pops up when we had decided that 2 dcs was definately enough for us. Isn't life strange.
