Hello

I have just found out that I am pregnant and calculate that the baby is due on 1 May. It's a bit early for me to be getting excited but I can't help it!

Is anyone else due in May?

Gosh, I've never met anyone who lived in the Czech Republic before! I'm in London.

Hello, can I join? Got BFP today and worked out due date is 2nd May, though both DDs were around 2 weeks late so will probably be more like mid May.

LOL - I hadn't noticed a metallic taste in my mouth til I started reading this thread and now I can't get rid of it! I was terribly sick with both previous pgs. Hospitalised with DD2 so hoping for better this time. Really of anyone who hasn't suffered with ms!

Like most of the rest of you my boobs are quite sore, kind of throbbing like you get when your milk is coming in after delivery and have had cramping yesterday and today...oh the joys of pg!

I had a CP in March so am delighted to be pg again before my old due date.

inni - I am in the UK and work from home. No "good money" here! But at least my work fits nicely around the DCs.

Hope everyone gets a good night's sleep before the real symptoms set in. That's if you're not too excited to sleep!

ScaryHairy · 26/08/2008 06:44

Hello watadoo. Congratulations on your BFP. My DD was 11 days late, so unless I end up with an elective I will also be mid-May, I expect.

That's bad luck about getting the funny taste in sympathy! Let's hope you don't "catch" any other revolting symptoms...

I've had the strange boobs too. Every so often it almost feels like I am having a let-down reflex and I find myself checking the front of my shirt. I'm glad I am not the only one there - I thought I was going loopy!

I've added you to the list. I don't know how many DCs you have, so if you want to add that, please do.

Due in May 2009

Scaryhairy due on 1 May (DD age 2.2)
JustgotBFP due on 1 May
Sahbear due on 1 May (DS age 14 mo)
Brightsideoflife due on 1 May
Heverhoney due on 2 May
Watadoo due on 2 May
Inni due on 4 May (DS age 2.9 and DD age 1)

Congrats wotatoodoo and welcome. Sorry for the metallic taste, it's been a week since started hoping it goes away, for you too.
I'm feeling really down right now. I've done another test this morning hoping this time around would be a darker line but it wasn't. I don't know what to think. Maybe this pregnancy will fail or it's nothing wrong just too early (CD 30). My AF is not even delay yet cos they are 28 to 31 days. I'm stressing out

Jaamy · 26/08/2008 08:27

Good morning ladies! Thanks for welcome, scary and inni.

Inni - the only thing you can do is wait. Can you remember what your test were like with your other DCs? Gosh I hope we don't lose you so early. Will keep things crossed for you.

Am feeling so bloated and uncomfortable. I dread to think what I'll feel like in another few months! Have added DDs onto the stats.

Inni due on 4 May (DS age 2.9 and DD age 1)

Jaamy · 26/08/2008 08:30

ooops, posted under my usual MN name. Didn't want to "come out" quite just yet in case things went wrong but I knew I wouldn't get the hang of this secret posting.

Anyway, will change name on list. I'm wotatoodoo, BTW!

BrightSideOfLife · 26/08/2008 12:16

Hi all,

I was away for the weekend, so sorry for being so scarce!

With my last pregnancy, I had that metallic taste - it was awful. This time I don't have it at all. I have felt nauseous from about 3 weeks pregnant but had my first real 'being sick' session this morning. Eeeeeuuuugggghhhh. Is anyone else getting sick so early?

inni sorry to hear about the HPT's. Are you testing at exactly the same time every day? Levels do fluctuate a little in early pregnancy so everything might be OK. My fingers are crossed for you. How exciting to be living in the Czech republic! I live in London but am originally from South Africa.

scary and jammy I know what you mean about the boobs! I haven't BF before but at least now I know what that feeling is

Hello everyone else that I have inevitabley missed

inni · 26/08/2008 14:01

Well I'm sorry I've been so focused on my situation and haven't asked how are you all doing? I hope these symptoms disappear soon and just start to enjoy the belly growing. In which moment of your last pregnancies did you start to show your bump? I started from first weeks in both. I'm medium built but one of my symptoms in both was the bloated belly from week one, this time too.I've been thinking that I don't want to tell family in a while til see how everything settles. So difficult not to tell family cos they will see the belly and occasionally figure it out.I hope it takes them some time.

ScaryHairy · 26/08/2008 20:52

Whoops, sorry Jaamy, I got your "in disguise" name wrong. Am both illiterate and up the duff!

inni I don't think you should worry too much about the HPTs. As I understand it, you can even get two in the same pack which can detect different levels of HCG. Not only that, higher hormone levels do not necessarily equal a darker line. I had quite light lines at one point in my last pregnancy but my HCG was measured at 350. I don't think I showed with my daughter until I was about 18 weeks. I suspect this one will be sooner since I have no stomach muscles these days!

Poor you being sick Brightsideoflife. I started feeling a little queasy this morning but cured it with a can of ginger beer!

Hi to everyone else - only 35-ish weeks to go!!

Momino · 26/08/2008 21:06

Hi, i'm reluctantly joining you all. saying reluctant because - if i get through the whole thing to birth, I'll have three children under 3 and a half and am scared! Inni, similar to you...

got my bfp this morning and not quite sure when due. AF was due on 20th, anyone know? i've been feeling 'normal', if a bit bloated but tested this morning since i'm late. I was a bit surprised as I don't have the sore boobs and - this may sound silly - dull hair that i did with my last pregnancies. really don't feel pregnant but feel a bit like i've got period cramps which someone said is normal? me and dh only had sex once in the month and wasn't even a 'good' time so i've suspected nothing, going out for drinks and also have been on anti anxiety med which i came off promptly today.

anyone else worried about drinks, etc? i know it's not common but i still feel like i overdid it with this early pregnancy bless it!

anyway, best wishes to all and good to meet you.

JustgotBFP due on 1 May
Sahbear due on 1 May (DS age 14 mo)
Brightsideoflife due on 1 May
Heverhoney due on 2 May
Jaamy due on 2 May (DD age 4.7 and DD age 2.11)
Inni due on 4 May (DS age 2.9 and DD age 1)
Momino due ? (DD age 2.5 and DD age 1)

ScaryHairy · 26/08/2008 21:51

Hi Momino and congratulations on your BFP. I think it would be lovely to have children so close together in age. Yes it would be lots of work but I figure we get what we can cope with!! I wouldn't worry too much about the drinks - it's still early days and the little bean was probably floating about and hadn't even implanted for most of it! Just don't do it again !!

How is everyone doing this evening? I have (stupidly) eaten too many strawberries and now have a tummy ache which I am trying to convince myself is not the pregnancy going wrong. God, the sooner I get that scan (and can put my overactive imagination back in its box) the better!

OP posts:
ScaryHairy · 26/08/2008 21:52

Dunno why I put BFP in bold there. Clearly I am losing the plot...

Hi I'm new to this but am very excited to join in as I'm due on 5th May with 3rd PG. Have DS1 who is 5 and DS2 who is 3 so slightly bigger gaps than most of you but am over the moon as DH has taken some convincing to finally try for baby no. 3 but to my astonishment it happened more or less straight away. Very happy as both the boys took a year to conceive.

Congratulations to everyone else, it's really nice to meet you all.

ScaryHairy · 26/08/2008 22:04

Hi Charlie1000, congratulations on your good news . Have you got any symptoms yet? I have added you to the list:

Scaryhairy due on 1 May (DD age 2.2)
JustgotBFP due on 1 May
Sahbear due on 1 May (DS age 14 mo)
Brightsideoflife due on 1 May
Heverhoney due on 2 May
Jaamy due on 2 May (DD age 4.7 and DD age 2.11)
Inni due on 4 May (DS age 2.9 and DD age 1)
Momino due ? (DD age 2.5 and DD age 1)
Charlie1000 due on 5 May (DS age 5 and DS age 3)

Right, I am completely knackered again, so off to bed!

i have a tummy ache too! just eating lots of rubbish and feeling bloated. am dying for a daime/dime bar with vanilla ice cream. ohmigosh... i really am pregnant, aren't i?

am supposed to be working right now (work from home job) but can only think about chatting with others about this BFP. it helps to talk to others going through the same thing. am dying to tell someone. guess it may as well be you guys and my doc tomorrow!

hope you're all well tonight, congrats Charlie and stay away from the strawbs scaryhairy!

charlie1000 · 26/08/2008 22:25

Thanks, So far I just have sore boobs but otherwise feel fine. It's still pretty surreal at the mo, feels like I'm dreaming.

Hoping this PG is smooth and worry free as I have existing hypertension (unexplained as I'm healthy, normal weight for my height and 33). When I had my first son everything was absolutely fine until after the birth my BP shot up but midwife kept close eye on it and it seemed to come down slowly but surely without meds. With second son, BP was raised at my very first booking in session with midwife (at around 9wks) but then levelled out mid pregnancy. During labour it went up and again after the birth it shot up so they wouldn't move me from the labour ward as they suspected pre-eclampsia. Next morning it was relatively normal so was allowed home. 5days after midwife sent me (along with DS2)back to hosp by ambulance as BP was ridiculously high. Totally panicked and the care I got at the hospital was bloody awful. Nobody seemed to know what to do with me and they kept telling me I was at risk of fits and stroke and then in the same breath trying to convince me I needed to relax! A week later I was eventually allowed home (very stressed and missing DS1 terribly) with the same BP reading they had admitted me at! Was a total cock up in my opinion as they put me on atenolol (beta blockers) which my GP was apalled at as I'm asthmatic.
Up til now it's been controlled with perindopril but after seeing GP today she has taken me off these and is monitoring me closely. I think I'll most likely be fine in PG but am petrified about what will happen after baby's born.

Trying to think positive and put my faith back in doctors which is easier said than done!

Momino · 26/08/2008 22:28

Inni, to answer your question, i'm american but have been in the UK for 11 years. I do miss my family. Is your family long-distance too?

Momino · 26/08/2008 22:34

oh charlie, sounds horrendous... it's got to be better this time!

ScaryHairy · 27/08/2008 07:25

Just a quick post for Charlie- when I was pregnant with my daughter I had high BP from about 22 weeks which at one stage hit. Mine was medicated with Methyldopa, so I guess your doctors could try that if need be - I don't think it is a beta blocker but it does affect milk production so after my DD was born I was switched to Atenolol too. I hope this pregnancy goes more smoothly for you.

Morning girls. How you all feeling today?
Congrats to momino and charlie1000 and welcome. Still feeling pretty low until I get a blood test and take out of my misery. Thanks for your words Scary, I've been thinking that might be a problem with the test, they are cheap.
To momino, I'm from Spain and miss my family loads. Get to see them once a year and if we're lucky twice. But it's starting to get expensive to fly as we keep having children.I guess that your oldest will be going to school this year (mine starts next week)this will be good help.
All my clothes are starting to really tight on me, I wonder how long can I keep it a secret?

Momino · 27/08/2008 11:50

still don't feel much of anything. are you sure I'm pregnant? my boobs are still normal and barely fill my A cup (seem to get smaller after each pregnancy), no metallic taste, not exceptionally hungry, not exceptionally tired. but i am a week late, i did get a BFP once already and plan to do another test tomorrow before seeing doc.

do all of you find it hard to believe? anyone else not having any/many symptoms?

one trivial thing that saddens me is that i just bought a wheel of unpasteurised camembert to have with a glass of sparkling something or other and probably shouldn't indulge. sigh. big sigh. guess I'll save it till next May.

inni · 27/08/2008 12:45

I don´t feel sore breasts either. It has happened to me as well that after my second pregnancy my bb have gotten smaller, not happy about it at all. My relieve is that I don't think they can´t get smaller this time. A girlfriend of mine is on her 15w and hasn´t got symptoms at all. Don´t worry, you are pregnant . I had many symptoms in my previous pregnancies and would love not to have this time but it doesn't look it's going to happen.

BrightSideOfLife · 27/08/2008 12:55

hello all,

momino and inni I know what you mean about missing family - I also really miss having mine nearby. We are going back 'home' for a holiday in November. Hopefully (touch wood, fingers crossed - all that stuff) I will be 16 weeks pregnant so can at least share some of the pregnancy with them.

I feel OK, I have times when I feel really ill and then other times when I feel completely normal and forget that I am pregnant!

Mo doctor's appointment is on Friday. Perhaps it will feel more real then

Hi scary I hope you are well

charlie I hope your BP is OK and this pregnancy progresses better than the first!

charlie1000 · 27/08/2008 13:16

Hi everyone,

Thanks for all your supportive comments, ScaryHairy it's quite encouraging to hear of people who've also suffered in previous pregnancies, (not that I would wish it on anyone!) but makes me feel I'm not alone with my BP probs!

To Momino and Inni, I wouldn't worry that you haven't many symptoms, I didn't get sore boobs in my second PG but I did with my first and have also this time. I think it can sometimes relate to having pregnancies close together, and also it's still fairly early.

Hope everyone's well!

Momino · 27/08/2008 16:26

hi all. just working, kinda. It's hard to concentrate.
And I'm getting that cramp-like feeling which scares me. I know that it's normal in early preg but i can't help remembering my last mc - I hate these first 12 weeks!
