Am sure I will feel better shortly and stop being such a mardy cow.

TwilightSurfer · 30/07/2008 18:50

ALBS {{{hugs}}} The memories are coming back now.....I know exactly how you feel. And with TWO kids!!! OMG this is about to happen to me. ALBS don't leave I want to see how you progress.

Captain, would you care for a nice foot soak and a warm towel. The waiter will be by momentarily with the cake cart. There's a wide selection of nice freshly baked treats on it. While you wait, here is some ice water.

Oh Oops I just had to email DH your story. Let's just say there's a lot of laughing going on in an office here in the US.

VintageGardenia · 30/07/2008 18:56

albs I can't speak generally but from what I remember of DS as a baby he fed NONSTOP in the early weeks and you know I think the best thing is just not to worry about anything else. So what if you all live on pasta and butter for six weeks? DH won't let himself or his family starve even if he does have to be back at work, just let him get on with it and don't put pressure on yourself about things like that. Re. housework etc let it go, just let it go. You WILL get time back, you WILL get energy back but you are only a few days out of the traps, give it time.

You will be back to normal.

Your life is changed, of course, but for the better.

Feeding can be overwhelming and all-consuming but it's easier just to do what DS wants for the first few weeks. Can you put your feet up with a DVD while settling in for a long feed? Or put on an audio book?

And was it on this thread that someone advised your DH taking him out in the pram for half an hour in the evening? Even half an hour when he is completely DH's responsibility might take the weight off your shoulders a bit and you can have a bath or ring a friend or whatever is the thing that would make you feel better.

It's coming to us all albs. It must seem weird now that we are all still in the pre-stage while you have your first struggles in the post-stage.

Big hugs.

Albs yes bf almost constantly to start with sounds normal to me. But one thought occurs to me, how long is each feed lasting? Are you sure he isn't asleep during the feed at any point? I used to have to be very vigilant with dd to make sure she wasn't just napping and doing the sucking movements in her sleep without actually sucking iykwim. It is easy to get used as a dummy without realising it.

I used to take her off, make sure she was awake/wake her up and put her back on or tickle her feet to remind her what she was supposed to be doing.

It gets much easier quite quickly. Stick with it if you can.

just checking in on you all

congrats all the lovely boys arriving

all as ok in the dixie household as it can be - have given up trying to get anything else done and phoned in some cleaners to arrive tomorrow afternoon and deep clean the kitchen/dining room/downstairs loo and bathroom - dh and I been trying to kill ourselves doing everything else and frankly I've had it - wiped, pooped, buggered and generally fecked

girls have both decided to try my patience today too - HOW DO THEY KNOW?!?!?!?!?!?! wee sods angels

had check up yesterday, bp fine (amazingly) and had bloods taken and given meds to take tonight in preperation for tomorrow morning

I'd hoped to have gone as been having really strong braxtons/niggles and a slight show but nope, nada, ziltch

anyway, have lovely consultant who will do more 'natural' C/S for me and had lovely birth plan to give him (was really proud of it too) but dd2 has just handed it to me all scribbled on/ripped and coloured in blue - think I may have to reprint it lol

hoping everyone is keeping well, I am sorry I haven't been around more at such an important time - been missing all the chat & baby banter

have also just given dh a tutorial on how to post tomorrow when things are all done and dusted

dizzydixies · 30/07/2008 19:34

OMG forgot to mention - cleaners costing £90 but money well spent imo at the moment, won't be worrying about coming home and cleaning shower cubical

managed to fit in bikini wax so don't have to be shaved before op - am best form of contraceptive for the size 8 blonde tiny 20yr old that had the misfortune of having to do it for me

and dd2 just ate my magnum white some kids just don't know their boundaries - borstal for her I tell you, sodding ASBO child that she is

have also put photo of mammydixies on my profile, I know it sounds silly but you've all been sooooo lovely and supportive I wanted you all to see her when she was shiney, happy and well at our wedding

gigglegirl · 30/07/2008 19:37

I have just read all your rants and oh how muchbetter do I feel.

Have had a TOTAL meltdown today. Slagged off my wonderful parents to their faces, cried in front of the kids, freaked out and been totally irrational and had a generally shite hour witnessed by everyone. Left me feeling like a complete turd!

However having read about your IL TS I am really annoyed with her - cheeky bugger! I'll tell you some of my MIL stories soon they will make your hair curl!

Off to eat my tea now but will be back for tequila and I may be snatching and dowing the bottle!

Oh and I may be a BF councillor but IMHO the most important thing is a happy mum so if that is FF - then fo it! My two best RL friends didn't even try!

CaptainCaveman · 30/07/2008 20:00

gigglegirl I am sure your day has been crap, and I'm sorry but I really chortled at your post - coz it sounds just like me!!

I no longer know or care if I have flashing lights in front of my eyes - they could be spots that flash - whats the frigging difference? In that typical womans way, when dh asked whether I was going to ring the MAS, I said "what's the point, they won't do anything". To which he replied "well they probably won't will they". So now not only do I feel like the MAS made me feel like a timewaster, I feel like dh agrees with them. GAAAHHHH, I'm just so bloody irrational and hormonal. Just fucking go into labour already you stupid hag

dizzy it is lovely to have you back. How are you feeling ahead of tomorrow?
Feel free to join in wednesday's ranting session.

CaptainCaveman · 30/07/2008 20:02

apologies for the swearing outburst there. Pass that bottle of jack daniels please.

CaptainCaveman · 30/07/2008 20:07

aha, the perfect antidote to any rant.

I have now got over myself

dizzy - lovely photos. Good luck for tomorrow.

CC why is a small violin an antidote to a rant?

ALBS, gigglegirl, TS and others having tough days - I send lots of thoughts.

Obstetrician today (37+5) - weekly appointments for monitoring and measuring. Anyway she sent me for an USS and the estimate for the weight is already 4.1kg. And, going to the hospital always makes me irrationally cross. Never mind, on with the day. Greetings to all.

ChaCha · 30/07/2008 20:26

Dont worry GG - Had a similar day last Friday and upset both mum and her OH. DH managed to smooth everything over on my behalf - don't think poor mum's OH was used to highly emotional heavily PG woman throwing a wobbly!

CC - Hope you are relaxing now.

DD - Good to see a post, so your section is now tomorrow too? That is great news, i doubt i'll be logging on but i'll ask another MNer to fill me in on your news and wish you all the best. Will be thinking of you. and best wishes]

Warning !!!!

Aug Ladies - in case i'm not back on later will thank you all very much for your support during this pregnancy. I have enjoyed being a part of the daily banter (well for the first few and last months) and will miss Sazzles fresh brew of a morning - am so hoping one of those new mummies on the other side are going to be as hospitable and will someone get us started on a PN thread purllleaaassseeeeeee!!

Hope to post or have someone post some good news tomorrow, i am scheduled to be at the hospital at 7.30am and am so hoping we will not have a long wait. Bags are all packed, boys are almost in bed, plumber is not taking as long as we'd expected and i'm looking fwd to bath and bed.

Cannot believe i should have a baby tomorrow. My love to you all and sending you all hugs and best wishes!!!!

[chacha puts on brave face and makes exit]

longwayfromhome · 30/07/2008 20:28

ChaCha - ooooh, very exciting. Good luck and we'll be thinking of you tomorrow.

AnnVan · 30/07/2008 20:32

Hi - sympathies to all having crap days/relatives/mws etc. Do not worry aboutthe ranting, it's what we're here for.

All this bottle talk makes me seriously hope that I manage with BF. Really can't be botherred with all that hassle. Does anyone know a mantra that will make LO just go for the boobie??

Oops PMSL at your run through the garden Note to self: do not orget to take towels before getting in the bath.

Sibh · 30/07/2008 20:39

Good luck to chacha and dizzy--they are lovely photos by the way. DD2 seriously crossed the line with eating the magnum though

Oops-what a fabulous way to end the day. A pregnant streaker speaks volumes about the nature of this whole thread, I think!

And Caveman, do you think we could lock those hospital people in a room with TS's mother-in-law, maybe accompanied by your flashing lights?

Albs, you just given me really happy memories of that drunk and drooling on milk phase that new babies have. It sounds as if you are doing a great job and Henry is happy. Be kind to yourself as much as you can, sod the housework, and take all the help that is offered at the moment. We're all thinking of you ...

chacha good luck - hope it all goes well - I'm in for my preop and then following you at 7.30am on Friday so we can know someone else is in hospital at the same time.

I am slowly getting to the oh my god it is going to happen stage and I am sue I will be a mess tomorrow although I have scheduled a haricut for 6.15pm to try and take my mind off it!

See you on the postnatal thread!

Buckets · 30/07/2008 20:56

Good luck Dizzy and Chacha, look after yourselves.

CaptainCaveman · 30/07/2008 20:58

lwfh its an old joke - when you are ranting about something... someone will pretend to be playing 'the world's saddest song' on a tiny violin (or tiny record player) to 'show how much no one cares' . MOre of a note to myself to shut up and get on with it!!
