Tessiebear · 10/02/2005 16:38

Mrs Wednesday - we toyed with taking the DS's but they are sooo excited and decided that if anything were wrong it would be devestating for them. DS1 has got a Tennis day at our local sports centre and DS2 is going to Grannys for the morning!
Uwila Re: The MICE. We had mice in our last house a couple of years ago (i am talking massive outbreak) We did have an incident where we found droppings in DS2's cot and we heard the activity centre being "played with" in the middle of the night and just pressumed it was ds!!!!
If i were you as a check i would put some traps round the house if this is possible - where there is one mouse there is usually two ... so the theory goes!
If you need any advice i am your pregnant pest controller extrodinaire!!!!!

JonahB · 10/02/2005 17:06

What do Braxton Hicks feel like? My physio gave me some stomach excercises to do, and every time I try, I can feel the whole of my lower tummy tightening. Is that normal?

lummox · 10/02/2005 17:40

Maybe we should update the gender predictor stuff?

9 boys then. Come on guys, we only need two more than we have our MN football team.....

welshmum · 10/02/2005 20:16

Just caught up with you lot - I too am wondering where the Lippy is, I do get a bit anxious when people disappear.
Charley - I was just the same in the first 3 months, just couldn't face salad - had to have anthing and everything with carbs. Now I just can't bear the thought of most of them - don't want to be in the kitchen if there's a loaf in there. However - fresh fruit.......it's wierd.
I sounds like I'm being mean on the list of who's having what but I can't tell. DH has sworn me to secrecy and, bless him, he doesn't do that often, he'd be appalled if he knew what I share on here.

charleypops · 10/02/2005 20:59

Welshie, you are obviously having a boy! You must be - I had the carb thing so much in the first few months - when I could eat, I was scoffing chips, crisps, potatoes, pasta, bread and had to force anything else down. Whilst I've gone off them quite a lot, I'm still eating toast and sarnies. LOL your fear of the loaf infested kitchen .

Hope Lippy's ok - I'm sure she is. It's so unlike her not to post though, I reckon she's gone on a mad shopping/nursery sorting frenzy or something. Hope you're ok Lippy if you've got time to read this! x

I've not been able to post much over the past couple of days myself because I'm having to sort stuff out in the house now most of the workmen have gone. Mumsnet is so addictive I can easily lose a couple of hours or more, so I'm forcing myself not to turn on the computer at all untl I've got at least some stuff done

teabelly · 10/02/2005 22:42

Jonah, braxton hicks...mine didn't really feel like anything, just kind of noticed that my whole tummy went rock hard for a moment or two, not all soft and wobbly like normal ...but I realise everyone is different.

Well have finally decided on a name for baby teabelly...had to let dh have final say as I was extremely adamant about ds's name ( sorry Jonah for breaking the cardinal rule)...so name will be Amber...(or Adam if it turns out to be a boy with an extremely small willy and no bollox - as per scan, he he he! )

Uki · 10/02/2005 23:30

Morning All
I'm sure I could always get the first morning greeting in, coz your all still asleep I tend to post mid morning here, but i'll stay up one might and get the day gossip straight up. Thanks for the list Charley you are so organised i was nearly thinking of asking you to write it up for us coz you seem the most organised it's hard to keep up, and there are a lot more than i thought who haven't found out sex yet.
Anyway i'm sure lippy is fine arn't you???
She might have a life outside mn for a day?

Uwila · 11/02/2005 07:11

Mornin all. Posting on UK morning time from Oz is cheating!

No mice this morning.

I think Lippy is avaoiding us.

JonahB · 11/02/2005 07:25

Morning All,

Tea, thanks for the advice. Amber is a beautiful name. Conjures up lovely images. So we'll let your DH off this once as he's done a good job

welshmum · 11/02/2005 07:55

I'm not around much again all day - working somewhere else (well not proper work - workshop thing) Have lovely days - and Lippy if you're reading stuff hope all's well with you x

Uwila · 11/02/2005 10:39

Gosh it's quiet today....

Tea, I had to give in a bit to. Pre-scan, DH was convinced it was another girl, and I gave in to Rachel. In turn he had to give in to Alexa for a boy (thinking he wouldn't ever have to pay up). But,HA! It's a boy, and I don't have to name it Rachel.

My cousin says that since women do all the work, the have the right to choose the names.

Tessiebear · 11/02/2005 10:45

Uwila - did you see my post yesterday Re: mice?? Did you put any traps down just in case??
Katzguk - everyone who i sent that E-mail too said it was blank! I wont bother sending it again!!!

Uwila · 11/02/2005 10:50

Oh, sorry. Forgot to respond to that. No, I haven't done that because I don't want to break any precious toddler fingers. I'm hoping it was a lone mouse. But I've asked the nanny to keep an eye out and let me know if any more appear. If another on is spotted, I shall have to do something. I found some vibrating device that you plug in. It basically operates at a frequency that we humans can not hear but the pests find it annoying and leave the house. I don't think they are super effective. But I think it will be a good first line of defence.

Fingers crossed there won't be any more!

The mouse was brown. Since you are the expert, what kind of mouse is that? Is it likely to have friends?

tribpot · 11/02/2005 10:58

Quote from my brother (to my sister-in-law) the day before their eldest was born "I have told you, we are not naming the baby Matthew if it's a boy".

The baby was a boy. And my sister-in-law played the "24 hours in labour + an emergency caesarean" card to full effect, the baby is called Matthew.

So far we have only got as far as middle names. For a boy (as we now assume the bean to be): John. Personally I think John is the name you give to people when you couldn't think of any other name (with due respect to anyone reading this called John or whose dp/dh/ds is called John!). However, dh's grandfather, who died just after Xmas, was called John, and also apparently there's a bit of a tradition of the first born male in his family having the middle name John. So that will keep people happy.

Tessiebear · 11/02/2005 11:09

Brown = some sort of field mouse (What is the approx size????)
BTW when we layed traps none were accesible to toddlers - places like - behind the washing machine - behind appliances in kitchen if possible. We only layed traps along the skirting boards / behind sofas overnight.
THe other day my friend had what she thought was one mouse - i told her my theory - she layed some traps overnight and caught 3 over 2 nights (they apparently are always in pairs)
I cannot understand the dead mouse in the bed though??? Mice move soooo quickly so it is unlikely it could have been caught by your DD. The only possible cause could be that it had eaten something poisonous and then found somewhere warm to sleep .. and then died. In our old house we put poison down in an outbuilding and found a mouse just laying there dead one day

Welcome KVG! If you have a look at our stats thread you will see who else is a first-timer. Off the top of my head I know I am, also charleypops, PinkArjuna ... who else? We're the ones with our fingers metaphorically in our ears when the others get started on sharing war stories about birth

teabelly · 11/02/2005 11:42
