Anyone else out there? Just got faint, but definitely there, BFP.

Due 1st April, according to those dodgy due date calculators.

TT3 - my tummy feels silly big for 5 weeks. Sure people must be thinking I've eaten all the pies - it is getting quite noticeable.

Telling my parents at the weekend - bit nervous but sure they'll be please...well they better be anyway!

Kal - have a great hol and good luck with telling your parents.

Gem - quite tempted by an early scan actually at 8 or 9 weeks. Do you know how much they cost? I live in the East Midlands so have been googling private scans in Notts, Peterborough etc but not come up with much.

Gemzooks · 30/07/2008 19:07

hi all,
cosmo, don't know what they cost in the UK, I'm having it in Holland. It will cost around 100 Euros (70 pounds) but I can claim it back. I think it is more in the UK but don't know. I believe in some areas you can get an early scan if you're worried for some reason, otherwise 12 weeks..

Anyone wanting to track the development of babs, here is a good link embryology.med.unsw.edu.au/wwwhuman/Stages/CStages.htm

you just scroll down. 'Days' means number of days after ovulation, e.g. I ovulated (conceived) on 4th July roughly so am now on day 26. It's fun!

whatawally · 30/07/2008 20:21

HI all, Just wanted to confirm that I did another pg test this morning and got a BFP, nice big fat line. This will be my 4th as I currently have a 6 year old, 5 year old and 2 year old.

Congrats to all those with there BFP's.

Have to admit I may be a bit anxious till the 12 week mark as I had a m/c in Jan.

How is every one with the sickness. I was feeling really sick all week last week but seems better this week.

chipmonkey · 30/07/2008 20:29

another April 08 Mum here, wishing you all the best! And God, does time fly!

foxymagoo · 30/07/2008 21:19

Evening All,

Still can't quite believe I'm pg - ovulation sticks rock!

re: morning sickness - I'm OK just now but mine kicked in last time bang on week 6 when I threw up in COSTCO smelling the wafting butcher meat. Vomited daily for six weeks but thankfully tapered off around 12 weeks. I'm the opposite of Cosmogirl in that I can be addicted to throwing up as I'd rather be sick than feel sick. Rotten all round.

You only get early scans up here in Scotland if you have a bleed.

Going to try and wait as long as possible before we tell anyone as we told parents at 6 weeks last time due to early bleed and I'd really like to wait until 12 week scan this time around...

Boobs are definately tingling now!

DH is strutting like a peacock!

ruddynorah · 31/07/2008 08:52

i'm feeling fairly ok just very very tired, but i tend to anyway with working evenings and running round after a 2 year old during the day.

we're going to try really hard no to tell anyone until 12 weeks, not even family. it's a little awkward as SIL never managed to carry a second child to term so am sure she'll be a bit sad all be it very happy for us IYSWIM.

i've asked dd if she'd like a new baby to play with...she says no..oh dear!

have you all told your gp/midwife/whatever your system is or are you waiting a bit?

Cosmogirl · 31/07/2008 08:57

Morning all,

Thanks for popping in Chip . It is weird to think that come April I'll be a mum - ekk! Time seems to be going slowly so far, but that is prob because I am wanting to get to 12 weeks as fast as possible so we can have scan and see if everything is OK.

Ruddy - I have an appt with midwife Sun 17th Aug when I should be around 7/8 weeks. She said she'd do bloods, family history etc.. then I will be referred to a different hospital for first scan.

Foxy - you are defo the opposite of me. I would rather sit and feel nauseous than throw up. Really hoping I might be one of the lucky few to escape the sickness! Think my mum had it through all her pregnancies for quite a long time tho..hopefully that isn't genetic!

ruddynorah · 31/07/2008 08:59

i guess i should ring the surgery. i dunno, still think i'm in shock or something!

my first pregnancy was pretty smooth. no major problems. i did get huge though. dread to think what this one will do to my stretch marks..and they do say 2nd babies are usually bigger..dd was 8lb 14oz..

Hi everyone, Can I join you?

Got BFP on Tues. Still in excited disbelief! Doesn't feel real yet. Not really too sure of EDD as cycle lengths vary, but reckon to get a positive so early must have been shorter cycle (does that sound right). Anyway - due date maybe around 5th - 13th April (how vague is that??)

Congratulations and Hi to everyone!

ScrumptiousBumptious · 31/07/2008 11:06

Ooh - have one DD already - 13 months old.

foxymagoo · 31/07/2008 13:24

snap!

Jumbs · 31/07/2008 22:27

Big HELLO to all the new BFPs!

Ruddynorah - please don't say second babies are usually bigger! My first was 10lb 1, I do not want to go bigger than that! I was truly huge, but luckily it was all baby!

Scrumptiousbumptious - DS is nearly 13 months and I'm due 3rd Apr. so we're going to have similar age gaps! How do you reckon it'll be? I'm a bit worried DS will be hitting a difficult phase right when I have new baby.

Jumbs

Jumbs · 31/07/2008 22:29

Me again, I don't get a scan until 20wks where i live I'm thinking about having the private one (bupa) at 12 wks, but it costs something like £125!

OddEyes · 31/07/2008 22:35

Hello! Congrats to all. Am so pleased I can join. Due on 9th April but am thinking they won't let me go to term after ds. Ds will be 2 years 1 month. Had a miscarriage in March so am looking forward to 7 and 12 week scans.
Knew before the yesterday's test, as am going to the toilet every hour - amazing how quick the hormones kick in and start affecting your body!
Look forwad to chatting with you all over the next months

lixanismapolium · 01/08/2008 07:03

Good morning ladies!! Just saw the faintest line in the history of the universe on an ebay cheapie stick .... so faint it may have been in my imagination, but I thought I would jump in anyway and say 'hi'. Will test again tomorrow morning and hopefully the line will be a bit clearer! Only 10 days DPO so it's a bit early really ... I think the date would be 14th April if this is for real. Congrats to all of you who already have a definite BFP - hope to be joining the group for real very soon!

ScrumptiousBumptious · 01/08/2008 08:34

Morning, and congratulations to OddEyes and a tentative congratulations to Lix. It is amazing how quickly hormones kick in. Although I still feel like my period is about to come any minute. Does anyone else feel like this?

Hi Jumbs. So nice to have someone on here so similar. I think the age gap will be tough at times (especially at first), but always wanted a smallish age gap, so am just planning on doing whatever I can to get through it! I think it will be definitely worth it when the babies are a bit older.
I guess there are positives of it too though. A friend who has the same age gap said her older DC accepted the new baby very happily at this age. Wow - no scans till 20 weeks by the way! Where abouts are you if you don't mind me asking? I am looking forward to the 12 week one already.

So when are you all making your booking appointment for (i.e how many weeks?) My surgery does it at 8 weeks. I rang yesterday, but it all feels so surreal at the minute. It didn't become real last time until the 12 week scan. I honestly thought the midwife was going to tell me there was nothing in there and I was making it up!

Which leads me to - when are you all telling friends and family in RL? I am going to try and wait as long as possible, hopefully 10 /12 weeks (it's going to be very very hard!)

I also still have a strange urge to keep doing pregnancy tests. I've done 4 already! Somebody stop me! Anyone else doing this?

Phew. I am a chatterbox this morning.

Hazzabout · 01/08/2008 09:06

Hello all! I got a proper BFP on Tuesday so... I think I qualify to join this thread!!! Can't quite believe it. I'm having trouble making it feel 'real', I think I'm still in shock.

Scrumptious - I'm embarrassed to admit I've been doing tests almost daily just to reassure myself it's still there. Must have done about six in all now. (But then I did have a pack of ebay cheapy tests to use up, is that a good enough excuse?...?)

This is my first baby so got no idea what to expect and hoping I'll be able to pick up some tips from you guys.

Are other people having crampy period type pains? This is normal isn't it?

Hazzabout · 01/08/2008 09:12

Oh by the way.. my due date is 4 April according to web calculator.

TT3 · 01/08/2008 10:16

Hi there
Just confirming due date 6th April (acc to online thing - not seen doc yet!) and DS is nearly 2 - 23 mths (just quickerto say 2 thats all!!)
Cosmogirl - am with you there with all the pies. Decided there's no way it could be earlier (mostly as I dont like the idea as I was at quite a lot of parties the previous month and might have had quite a few drinkies rather than the current absolutely none (conveniently the thought makes me feel ill!)
HOpe you're all well
xxx

ruddynorah · 01/08/2008 10:36

i haven't booked in with midwife yet. we've moved to a new area since having dd so it's all kind of new again. not sure when we have scans here. hopefully 12 and 20 weeks though.

we had a private scan last time as well, one of the 4d ones. will hopefully go for that again.

trying really hard to keep it from people but it will be hard. we have quite a few things coming up where obviously i won't be drinking. then there's work. i'm in retail so there is an element of lifting, pulling rails etc. it can be quite hard slog so i will be trying to take it a little easier. luckily i'm the boss so i can kind of get other people to do stuff without it looking odd.
