Anyone else out there? Just got faint, but definitely there, BFP.

Due 1st April, according to those dodgy due date calculators.

Welcome soundbites! Hope the second test is more conclusive for you.

Hello, welcome back Littlemy, and congrats to all the new BFPs, seems to have been a big crop over the weekend!

I'm starting to feel sick, but worse still a lot of my trousers that were previously loose around the waist are becoming snug! Might need to invest in that bump band. Its making deciding what to pack for our holiday in a few weeks even harder now! I really don't want to bring out the maternity wear just yet. I didn't wear it until at least 18-20 wks last time. Had a little look at the maternity wear in the shops, yuck mostly!

Cosmo girl - bless your mum crying! I can't wait to tell mine as she's currently in hospital recovering from a nasty accident and it would really cheer her up. Gonna wait a few weeks more I think though.

Jumbs · 05/08/2008 13:27

Forgot to say, had some success with the bloating:

  • eat slowly
  • drink water
  • go for a walk after eating lunch

Seems to have done the trick so far but we had a team meal last week and they were so annoyed as they wanted to move onto the profiteroles and I was still slowly munching my potatoes!

babyshoes · 05/08/2008 13:51

Hi everyone, might have spoken too soon. got home last night and i'd been bleeding has anyone else had this - brown not red and not just a bit of spotting, a bit more than that, enough to panic??? been to docs and had to go for early scan but couldn't see anything yet as about 5 weeks 4 days, still BFP with FR so doing blood tests today and thursday and will know Friday. this is all rubbish and much more different from first time around, i was happily holidaying in Mykonos with my big bright clear blue stick without a care in world.
Good luck everyone else, and for those feeling sick, carry a bag of snacks with you to nibble through the day my friend swears by it - just don't eat them all in one go!

LittleMyDancingForJoy · 05/08/2008 13:51

Bump bands are marvellous - those jojomamanbebe ones have a button and a buttonhole on them so you can attach your normal trousers to them with the waist band open, iyswim. Magic.

Someone said to me the other day: with your first baby, you can't wait to get into maternity clothes. with your second, you want to stay in your normal clothes for as long as possible. with your third, your maternity clothes ARE your normal clothes!

too true.

oh babyshoes, sorry to hear that, hope it's not bad news. do keep us posted and good luck.

hello everyone! very excited to be joining this thread! fingers crossed due date is 4 april. we had appt with gp today, he was a bit distracted and we felt too embarrassed to ask all our (prob really obvious) questions! where are you all planning on having your babies?

LittleMyDancingForJoy · 05/08/2008 16:07

what sort of questions did you want to ask, mizannie? there's probably lots of people on here who know the answers!

congratulations!

babyshoes I had bleeding last time at 5 weeks 3 days, red not brown, more than spotting but not like period. Had internal scan next day and saw heartbeat (which is unusual at such an early stage). Had intermitent bleeding that week then again the day after 12 week scan but everything thankfully was OK...

I have had a tiny bit of spotting this time so far, brown not red, not as worried this time as I've been there before but its concerning nonetheless.

Boobs still hurting like mad though

Gemzooks · 05/08/2008 19:00

congrats mizzannie! Are you a first-timer?

Babyshoes, I had a massive bleed at 5.5 weeks with DS, like really a lot. There was no doubt in my mind that it was all over, but it wasn't. Conversely, I had a m/c at 7.5 weeks and that started as a period. The key for me was cramps, with the cramps being a bad sign (basically as if you're getting your period). I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you!

Gemzooks · 05/08/2008 19:01

oh yeah, forgot to say the bleeding was bright red (how lovely!), and it turned out nothing was wrong..

mathsmummy27 · 05/08/2008 19:28

Littlemy I can't wait for the maternity clothes, and this is my second! Even bought some today...
Babyshoes brown spotting usually seems to be ok but as others have said cramping is not a good sign. Fingers crossed for you.
Mizzannie it has taken me a while but I'm extremely demanding with doctors now..I just ask myself 'what wouold xena warrior princess do'..?

ScrumptiousBumptious · 05/08/2008 19:32

Hi everyone, how's everyone doing?

Welcome and congrats mizzannie. Would you reccomend a GP visit? I haven't arranged to see mine, as last time they had nothing to say - at all! Not even congratulations. Feels a bit weird though as my booking appointment is not for ages so it feels a bit like no one cares! If you know what I mean! Or if anything went wrong, no one knows anything in the first place...

Hi soundbites, have you got that second test yet? Hope it's a nice BFP for you.

So sorry to hear it's not going so well babyshoes. It must be so hard not knowing what's going on.
About week 6 of my last pregnancy, I had about a week of browny type discharge (sorry if tmi!) more like dried, old blood. I was on holiday at the time and couldn't do anything about it, but everything was ok. Hope it is for you too. It's very good that you were scanned already.

These bump bands sound great. I can see already it's going to be a bit different this pregnancy, as I never got back into some of my old trousers properly. So def going to need some more help with expanding waists this time.

littlemy - I love that about maternity wear - so true! I didn't want to give up my maternity jeans last time - I loved them and wore them for about 6 months after the birth. In fact - I can't wait to get in them again!

jumbs - will try your bloating advice out tomnorrow. Trouble is I eat so late at night I don't think that helps.

So, so tired today. Going to have to perk up a bit or will never get through 9 months. My DH was working from home today, and looked after DD while I went for a 2 hour nap. Naughty!

Sorry my posts are always so long - it's that evening catch up time!

ScrumptiousBumptious · 05/08/2008 19:34

What did you buy mathsmummy? I love maternity clothes too. Where's good to buy from at the minute? I've seen some lovely lomg cuddly cardigans in Mothercare. I'm looking forward to being pregnant through winter. I think April is a good time to be due, as we're pregnant through good seasons!

mathsmummy27 · 05/08/2008 20:01

bought some floaty blouses and a lovely wrapover dress - h&m is great for stylish maternity. So anyone got any feelings about sex of baby? I have a very strange feeling I have more than one in there

LittleMyDancingForJoy · 05/08/2008 21:34

I thought that last time, was sick enough for two, even three, but there was just the one.

We've got our hopes up for one sort, but am not even daring to think about it right now. Just crossing my fingers everything goes well.

OP posts:
mathsmummy27 · 05/08/2008 22:34

Are you going to find out at the scan LittleMy?

JenJam · 05/08/2008 23:00

babyshoes I had some stringy light brown discharge on Sat - not much, only noticed on wiping after a pee. I assumed implantation bleeding and nothing to worry about. Anyway good luck.

mathsmummy - i'm quietly hoping for twins (dp is not...) I've also been thinking about maternity clothes and pushchairs too today...my little boy is november 05 so my wardrobe last time was largely summer oriented - cropped trousers, summer tops etc. good excuse to buy a few new pieces for an April babe!

I do not feel like vomiting but I have had a fleeting wave of slightly sick feeling today and yesterday afternoon

I really wanted to tell my mum my news today...but think it's a bit too early to create a wave of excitement....'not drinking' is almost like shouting 'i'm pregnant'. I have a wedding on Sat and my in laws have offered to babysit. I can almost see the penny dropping when I say I am driving.

mathsmummy27 · 05/08/2008 23:23

Jen my dd was 0ct 05 so probably explains the need for different maternity outfits!
I have told about ten people...terrible at keeping secrets and best friend getting married in a week anyway, everyone will notice the lack of drinking. Not sure about twins - sounds lovely doesn't it? - but suffering from lack of space already here.

ruddynorah · 05/08/2008 23:34

i've made my midwife appointment. it'll be 20th august, so a way off but i think then it'll feel a lot more real.

i too do not want to be in maternity clothes any time soon, although the moment i'm eating so much i'll probably need a bump band by next week!

we haven't told a sole yet. but we have got dd some books about babies arriving etc. she loves them. we won't tell family until the 12 week mark. a few of my friends know we've been trying so i don't think they'll be surprised.

great to see so many new names on here. it'll get difficult to keep up!

lixanismapolium · 06/08/2008 06:27

Morning All - did my 6th test this morning!!!! The line is still there, so maybe I've done enough now. DH is convinced I'm completely mad!

I already have DD (3 yrs), but haven't had a baby in this country before. I've booked an appt with GP on Friday - does anyone know what I should expect?

Gemzooks · 06/08/2008 06:56

morning everyone,

Lix, glad it's pos! I must have done at least 6 tests a couple of weeks ago. I was lining them up to compare the lines.. barking! Thank God in Holland you can get two tests for 5 Euros..

mathsmummy, will check out h and m. Feel a bit superstitious getting mat clothes too early this time.

I accidentally told the childminder because she knows we're trying and she just got back from holiday and asked, and I said 'maybe but not officially till scan next Monday!'

In a way want to hold off till 12 weeks with my family because of 2 m/c last winter where we seemed to be telling them good, then bad news about every 5 minutes. But if the scan on Monday shows a heartbeat, and we're off to the UK to see them all on the following Fri, will be hard not to spill the beans...

Gemzooks · 06/08/2008 08:18

has anyone else seen this! Rats in maternity wards! hope no one lives in Essex..

www.telegraph.co.uk/news/majornews/2505011/Hospitals-infested-with-rats-fleas-and- bed-bugs.html

lou031205 · 06/08/2008 08:44

Hi, I suppose I should add myself! I have 2 DDs (2.8 and 11mo) and tested yesterday (11po) and got a BF(aint)P. Due date ?17th April. I haven't had a period since December 2006, so can't use that to date the pregnancy!

Cosmogirl · 06/08/2008 08:46

Congrats Lix! Well, I am a first timer so not sure what you can expect [except for possibly rats in the maternity ward if you live in Essex!] Sure someone with more experience will be along soon.

Feeling distinctly crappy again today. Sense of smell thing is yucky and making me feel a bit queasy. Trying hard not to let it get the better of me, but added to the tiredness it is pretty difficult not to. I went to bed at 8.30 last night .....How's everyone else feeling?
