Ohhh i missed that and would have liked to have seen it - shame channel 5 dont do catch up tv

rosieposey · 10/07/2008 12:46

Apparently they do do catch up so for anyone that missed it demand.five.tv/Episode.aspx?episodeBaseName=C5135430001 copy and paste that into your browser register and watch away - im off to right now!

PinkTulips · 10/07/2008 13:31

tink, there was one man convicted for acting as midwife to his wife apparently but he was only fined £500.

if i can't arrange a HB my current mad plan is to wait til i'm in transition and then get dp to ring the ambulance claiming we got caught short. they'll arrive in time to make sure everything is ok but they can't force me to go to hospital.

i'm petrified of hospitals and i've not had good experiances with my other births, MW varied from bitchy to downright cruel and dangerous with the exception of the student MW i had during ds's labour..... she fought my corner when i tried to tell them i needed to push and they ignored me and treated me like an idiot. fgs... my first labour i went from 3cm to baby in less than 3 hours... yet they didn't believe it could have happened again!

anywho... in a bad mood today so ignore my ranting.

on your behalf that the stupid doctor won't even consider the possibility of an early labour again... surely with your history they should be planning for just that and anything beyond that you go is an added bonus?

PinkTulips · 10/07/2008 13:42

it's for uk audiances only... grr!

don't suppose anyone recorded it and would be willing to send me a copy?

TinkerBellesMum · 10/07/2008 13:58

They are planning on it, giving me the gel lol.

According to the film there hasn't been a conviction in the 9 years that the law has been in place.

I don't see anything wrong with having a "rapid progression" or not realising it really was labour and not BH this time

If I wasn't high risk I'd be going for a HB. I'd even go for a HBAC, but they wouldn't let me HB before the CS, let alone with a complicated scar!

chilledmama · 10/07/2008 14:56

wow...just watched the programme...wow. I had IM and HB with DS but I don't think Unassisted is for me...I liked my Gas & Air too much

chilledmama · 10/07/2008 15:11

Check the pics on my profile.

Had scan at lunch time and, though they had to do the transvaginal scan, I could see a lovely heart beat...doesn't mean we're free and clear but it is a huge sigh of relief

McDreamy · 10/07/2008 15:13

Congratulations chilled, you must be relieved and reassured

LittleSarah · 10/07/2008 15:18

Never saw that programme but in a book I read about home birth last time round the author had had an unassisted hb because of unhelpful midwives and stuff. Like the idea of just saying you were caught short!

rosieposey - I'm getting married on the 5th September so hopefully I've less need for a coat than you.

Had a couple of wee glasses of wine last night and feel a wee bit worse for wear today, sickness not good, going back to complete avoidance for the time being!

TinkerBellesMum · 10/07/2008 15:25

LittleSarah, don't know what style your dress is, but a Scottish Widow cape can be a nice alternative. We're planning a medieval wedding and I want one with my gown. The specialist medieval wedding costume supply charges £200 for the cape and £900 for a gown, both made to measure and keep.

It's going to be a couple of years yet, but I'm trying to get everything sorted now so we can save.

LittleSarah · 10/07/2008 15:35

Thanks Tink. You're very organised! I'm just trying to throw mine together tbh, and living very frugally at the mo so we can pay for it!

rosieposey · 10/07/2008 15:51

Lol - same here Littlesarah, we are forgoing a holiday this year for our Nov wedding. found a gorgeous dress (a snip at 150.00) satin with sheer silk overlay - goes straight down as there isnt much use with my size wearing anything in the least bit puffy and have found a dressmaker who will do me a rip off amanda wakely coat for around £100 in satin and is sort of empire line with only one button so should fit nicely above my bump Tink i really wanted a cloak but am worried that ill look (even more) like the side of a house lol so thought id go for drapage and empire lines to try and get away from the fact that im a bit fat and really quite pregnant - anyway ive promised myself champagne on the day - might even push the boat out and have a glass and a half! either way will be great fun and im hoping not too cold!

TinkerBellesMum · 10/07/2008 15:59

I've still got to organise the money side of things lol we're planning on opening an ISA and putting as much away as we can. We need some time before we actually marry and as I did it all (including making my own dress) in six weeks last time, I don't intend on killing myself again!

Ahh chilledmama glad you had happy scan too! that makes all the difference congratulations!

TinkerBellesMum · 10/07/2008 16:05

I'm not sure it would look like that, trying to picture it. Can't find any examples online either

I just love the Scottish Widow look (although she is 6'2" and a size 12 so I don't like her much!)

LittleSarah · 10/07/2008 16:16

rosieposey - that all sounds lovely. My friend's mum is making my dress, hard to describe, here's a pic - dress. Mine however will be off white! Anyway, it's basically costing £100 so think it's a bit of a bargain!

dinkystinky · 10/07/2008 16:25

Wow - all these wedding dresses sound amazing, and like absolute bargains - am sure mine cost an arm and leg when I got married 5 years ago...

Victory is mine in my ongoing battle with NHS bureaucracy - now have booking in and scan date for 8 August, so no outlaw birth for me (yet)

rosieposey · 10/07/2008 16:33

woo thats cheaper than mine lol! ohhhh thats gorgeous i cant believe she is going to make it for that price either you lucky thing This is mine ... dress demand.five.tv/Episode.aspx?episodeBaseName=C5135430001 and this is the coat which i adore, coatwww.bridalwave.tv/2007/09/bridal_coats_at.html The cloak idea is lovely and i have seen some gorgeous ones on line in silk or satin (i dunno if furry ones might be going a bit far ) and it really makes a winter wedding look - loving the whole medieval idea too but DP would just laugh if i trussed him up in a doublet and hose ill have enough bother trying to prise him into a suit!

rosieposey · 10/07/2008 16:36

opps not the dress that was a link to that tv programme lol - heres the link for my dress www.evans.co.uk/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?beginIndex=0&viewAllFlag=&catalogId=20554&s toreId=12553&categoryId=111666&parentcategoryrn=115965&productId=587676&langId=-1 think thats it - still getting to grips with this posting mlarky

IHaveASecretLittleSmile · 10/07/2008 16:39

TinkerBellesMum if your Dr and other health care providers are still being elusive over what they will do then you need to force them to give you some answers. I suggest contacting the Association for Improvements in the Maternity Services (AIMS) for advice on how to get them to go through a proper birth plan, at all stages, early and the 'elective' (ha) CS at 38 weeks, should you make it that far.

They provide information about maternity choices. I really would get in touch with them, their helpline is 0870 765 1433. Don't let the 'professionals' mess you and your baby around. They might be the cause of problems if you let it. The Dr all but admitted that they were negligent in the birth of your first child!!!

And, just out of curiosity, how much did Tink weigh?

IHaveASecretLittleSmile · 10/07/2008 16:42

Oh LittleSarah - you must have a fab figure to wear that dress. And rosieposey sucha floaty little number! My mum made mine (5 years ago now) and it was much cheaper than off the peg!!

LittleSarah · 10/07/2008 16:47

Ihaveasecretsmile - I don't know about fab but hopefully I'll pull it off alright! Just hope tummy is not too big.

rosieposey - your dress is lovely, and the coat is great!

dinkystinky - it is very cheap I know, but my poor dressmaker is rather regretting it now I think as she is also doing bridesmaids!

rosieposey · 10/07/2008 16:52

Littlesarah your hoping to get away with not looking pregnant too in that you will look gorgeous im sure. Dont think i will look really really pregnant by nov only a bit as have all the extra padding to hide it too but no matter as i think everyone will know anyway. ihaveasecretlittlesmile if i could have found someone to make that dress for the same price i would have but the silk that goes over the satin would have been quite expensive so worked out the same to buy it. My friend is getting married in April and her dress is £2000 which is lovely but god knows with the lo on the way now too just couldnt justify that - i think made ones are nice because they fit just perfectly and you can add your own touches. Ive asked for some beading to be put at the sleeves of that coat to make it a little less plain as the dress is really plain but ill take the broach off the dress probably to counter balance it et voila!

imaginewittynamehere · 10/07/2008 17:13

All these wedding dresses are making me reminisce about my wedding - I was 12 weeks pregnant & I'm convinced that the reason I had virtually no MS was that I was way too busy - working full time plus as many hours organising a wedding taking place 5 hours away..

Rosieposey & LittleSarah your dresses are both gorgeous & considerably less than I spent on mine!! (picture briefly on my profile)

Congratulations Chilledmama - hope you are a bit more chilled now

Dinkystinky glad you have your scan date - that's about when I'm expecting mine to be. I have decided to hang on a little bit waiting for scan & call next week (when I will be 9 weeks) if I haven't heard anything - Think by then I can realistically say that I need the notice to organise care for dd.

MarkStretch · 10/07/2008 18:29

Oooo ooo and this was mine! The one on the right
